spookyx7 Alicia gasped at the confrontation. What was going on? She felt herself get pulled with Aoaka and then smile gratefully at him. "Thanks, that's so odd."
She never remembered her Mom saying things like this happened often. She thought the isle was more peaceful. "Does that kind of thing happen alot?" She asked Aoaka. Aoaka shook his head, confused himself.
"Not that I know of... But, I really don't get out much, anymore. I used to go visit Hula Bob, but everyone was always peaceful when I was there.
He breathed a sigh of relief as the confrontation took care of itself, with the various parties separating themselves.
He turned back to look at Alicia, considering. Would it be alright if he asked her to dance? But... what if Pol came? He was pretty sure she would understand... he hoped.
"I came here hoping someone would arrive... but I haven't seen her yet," he said, with a small sigh, then continued. "Still, it.. seems a shame to just stand by the wall all night. So... would... uhm.. would you like to dance?" he asked, and another song started up as if on cue, a lively waltz instead of a slow dance. He held out his free hand with small bow, though he ruined the effect by biting at his lower lip.
He'd learned to dance from Pol... he wondered if he was really any good, or if she was being nice to him.

((And now, today on "As Telrunya Turns..."
*shot for blatent moment of character development while it's convenient*))
---
Kane's ear twitched a bit, picking out one voice among many of the Pae'il milling about or dancing. The child's pathetic attempt at a retort was almost enough to make the demon chuckle.
Almost.
She really thought that echoing his words and calling him ignorant constituted as a witty response? How sad. As fun as it would have been to teach her to true art of verbal sparring...he had better things to do with his time. Besides, at this rate, someone or something else was likely to put her out of her (and everyone else's) misery before long anyway, so that saved him the trouble.
Shame about the shrimp...though even shrimp wasn't worth that much irritation.
"Thank you, Aspen," Takeko smiled gratefully, giving her mate a quick kiss and handing Melek to him before turning back towards where Kane had gone. Fortunately for her, he'd slowed enough for her to catch up. The angel reached out again, hesitating only a moment before placing her hand lightly on Kane's arm. "Kane?"
Kane paused mid-stride, the voice catching his attention more than the touch, surprisingly. Closing his eyes briefly, he ignored his instincts screaming at him to run and relaxed his stance glancing back at the angel slowly. "Yes?"
Was this really her boy, her wild little demon from the forest so long ago? Yes...she could tell from something in his eyes. Eyes that most would cringe from or turn away in fear. "I...I just..." she faltered, then quickly wrapped her arms around the demon without another thought. "I wanted to thank you. For protecting Melek." There was more she wanted to say, but she just couldn't find the words, so for now she just held onto the man that was once just her little boy.
Kane's eye twitched a bit, unnoticable to most Pae'il, but he stood stock still, eyes still looking out over the crowd, over Takeko's head. Most Pae'il would have died...slowly and painfully for trying something half as brazen, but...no, not the angel...
Still, that didn't mean he was going to let this continue. Within moments, Kane was firmly untangling Takeko's arms from around his form, if discretely being careful not to hurt her in the process. "Alright, alright, I can take a hint. Cut it out..."
Takeko withdrew, looking sheepish. She had known that Kane was never comfortable with physical contact, especially of a personal nature, so why...? Because she hadn't been sure what else to do to express what she was feeling.
"I'm sorry," she muttered, glancing away. She hadn't meant to make him feel uncomfortable; she just wanted to thank him...
"Why didn't you eat the mean girl? She deserved it!" Melek's voice rang out over the crowd and the small angel child had his arms crossed as he stared at Kane in the utmost seriousness.
"MELEK!" Takeko was shaken out of her mood, shooting an automatic repremand towards her youngest son before a much more surprising sound behind her nearly made her faint in shock.
Kane was...laughing? Well, chuckling at least. It was an odd and unfamiliar sound to all involved, that was for sure. It didn't last long...but it had a profound effect on all that witnessed and knew the demon.
Smirking a bit, Kane shot Melek a glance. "I like this kid. He's got the right ideas on life." The demon waved a hand dismissively after that and turned to go. To be honest, he was a bit confused over his own actions and he needed some time to himself to mull things over. "Anyway, I'm out of here. Probably for the best anyway..."
Shaking out of her shock, Takeko quickly grabbed the demon's hand. "Wait...I know you don't like the typical form of gratitude, so," she tried to look into her eldest son's eyes. "Isn't there anything I can do to thank you before you leave?" She really just didn't want to see him rush off again like this as he had so many times before and she was grasping at ideas.
Kane's eyes were closed for a moment before he turned back to her. "Alright, one thing, I suppose." Slitted eyes met her golden ones.
"Think you can get me some more of those shrimp without me having to deal with that obnoxious chick again?"
---
Also ignoring the commotion, Serefina seemed more concerned with enjoying herself at the moment and she wasn't about to let anyone else ruin her fun. She needed it after the past few months.
A moment later, Serefina giggled and risked trying a showy spin. She pictured herself underwater, dancing and turning on the currents. All was going well until she stepped on the edge of her dress, stumbling a bit and clutching Rain's hand reflexively. She didn't fall, but she was embarrassed nonetheless, though her blush was hidden by her coloring. "Whoops...I'm sorry. I guess I'm not quite up to that level yet, hmm?" She smiled a bit.

"Hula Bob's?" She hadn't heard of that place. Maybe it was somewhere to she try next. She was really into learning all about the paeil and her homeland.
Alica sighed relief as well as she watched the group break up. She had tensed up a bit, as she was used to fighting and had training under her belt, she had never thought the isle needed all of that though. Maybe she was wrong?
Alicia was shocked at his question, "Dance? Um..." She did'nt actually know how, that was not a part of her foster parents training. Dancing did not help you live long. She blushed at the bow and then nodded, "Sure, if you are willing to show me how?"
Aspen nodded, "Anytime, my love." He ehld onto Melek as he watched Takeko with Kane. He watched her hugged him and smiled as Kane didn't really get too upset. So maybe he did care for Takeko more than he showed after all?
"Melek, that isn't nice." Aspen scolded, he understood why Melek would be upset, but there was no need to go that far. He didn't want this son to be too much like Kane. Aspen then waited for them to finish up.

Rain smiled, "It's okay. Is you dress okay?" He looked at it for a moment hoping she didn't tear it. That would be sad. It was a pretty dress.
Rain thought about her dancing for a moment. "YOu know dancing under water must be like flying and dancing. Not that'd I've ever done that. But flying is sorta like swimming, right?" It was okay not fully the same. Swimming you move your whole body with the current and flying was depending on your wings.

Aoaka hesitated, and then nodded.
"Ah... alright. Just... I'm not very good myself, so don't fault me for being a bad teacher, okay?" he asked, averting his eyes again in embarrassment.
Catching her hand up in his, he led her over to an unoccupied part of the dance floor.
"Okay. your hand goes... on my shoulder like that, and mine goes on your waist," he said, putting her hand where it should go, and hesitating before placing his own hand. Then he held her other hand in his.
"The steps are pretty easy, if I recall correctly... you follow where I lead you, and I'll direct with my hands, okay?" he said, and slowly led her through a waltz step. He was sweating slightly, not used to dancing in general, and even less so with someone other than Pol.
"Do you want to try and keep up with the song?" he asked.

"Oh, I would never do that." Alicia said with a smile. She doubted he would be a bad teacher. Alicia followed him to the dancefloor.
She let him place her hands where they needed to go. It was weird letting a stranger lead her so, but also felt nice. Not like her teacher from before. "Ok."
She followed him perfectly, she was a fsat learner. "That's pretty good." She said as it sounded fun. "Yeah, let's try." She nodded and got ready to do the moves much faster.

Aoaka nodded, and smiled, then said, "That was very good. You're a faster learner than I am."
He listened to the song for a moment to catch the beat of it before giving a little bob of their joined hands as warning that he was going to move. Catching the leading beat, he proceeded to lead Alicia around the dance floor in a mostly graceful fashion. The steps were a little more difficult to manage, with the faster pace, but waltzes are rarely fast enough to cause major tripping. Still, though, he kept careful track of where his feet were, so as not to trod on hers.
"Are you sure you haven't done this before?" he asked, mostly teasing, but genuinely curious.

Alicia smiled, "Thanks, you're a good leader." She felt her hand bob and then followed him around the dancefloor. She kept the pace and in step, only once breaking it.
"No, never." She had never danced before, but some fight steps were pretty similar. She was putting the dance into her head like she did all the fighting she learned as a child off isle. "This is pretty fun." She said with a grin.

Aoaka smiled, and as they made one last turn around the floor, the song came to a close. He brought them to a stop, and as the next song started, he looked around.
"Do you want to stop? This one... is a bit too slow, I think," he said, thinking privately that it was something he'd rather dance to with a certain other Pae.
"Maybe when another faster one starts, if you still want to dance more?" he asked.
Debi, over by Calder, had glanced over at the dance floor at just the right moment to see Aoaka and Alicia come to a stop after their dance. Her mouth dropped open, and then her eyes got a mischievous gleam.
"Oooh, look, Calder! If my hermit of a pop can get a dance, I bet you can! Go on and ask that lady! She's pretty, and she looks like she might say yes!" the demon child said, and then waved her hand.
"But you're on your own! I gotta go see what's up! That's not miss Pol!" she said, and disappeared between to groups of people walking, on her way to where her dad was.

Alicia was really enjoying herself when the music stopped and changed. Aoaka stopped with it, "Um...ok." Alicia wasn't sure why slow music would be bad to dance to, but then she didn't know much about dancing.
"Sure, we can rest and then go back out." She suggested as she swayed to herself as the music continued to play. She closed her eyes to feel the best move through her.

"Sure, we can rest and then go back out." She suggested as she swayed to herself as the music continued to play. She closed her eyes to feel the best move through her. Aoaka moved off the floor, and watched as several couples went out, leaning in close to each other to dance to the slow, sweet music. He sighed slightly, and looked downcast for a moment, but straightened again a moment later to ask, "It looks like someone brought out another bowl of punch... would you like some?" and inclined his head towards the buffet table they'd left a few minutes ago.Debi, meanwhile, marched up behind Alicia and Aoaka, and demanded loudly, "Why were you dancing with her, papa? She's not Miss Pol! I'm gonna tell!"
Aoaka startled, and blinked at his daughter. Then he felt guilty. He hadn't been keeping an eye on her! Anything could have happened, evidenced by the altercation just a bit ago."Ah... well, Pol isn't here... and Alicia didn't seem to be having much fun. I was just showing her..." Aoaka said, not sure what else to say. He glanced at Alicia, wondering what she was thinking now.

((Sorry I haven't written back in a while, rl went ka-boom for a bit. I should be back now.))
Alicia nodded, "Punch sounds good, I'm pretty thirsty after the dance." She smiled and followed Aoaka back to the buffet table. She hadn't noticed the girl come up until she talked, or rather demanded information from Aoaka, who she called, Papa.
Alicia wasn't quite sure what all that meant, who was Pol? Why did it matter if he was dancing with her instead of this Pol? Alicia was still a bit naive to all things to to with love and romance. "He was teaching me how to dance. My name is Alicia." She said as she stuck out her hand to the other girl.

Debi looked Alicia up and down, a frankly assessing look, then sighed and grabbed the outstretched hand in her own little one.
"I'm Debi!" she announced, and after a squeeze, let go. Aoaka had drilled some manners into her, after all, even if she was still a bit too heavy-handed for his peace of mind.
"I'm still gonna tell on you, Papa!" she said, and shook her little finger at him.
Aoaka had just returned with three cups of punch, and handed one each to the two girls.
"I'm sure she'd understand, Debi. After all, it's not as if Alicia and I were slow dancing. It was a waltz," he said, sounding a little like he was trying to convince himself.
Debi just chuckled impishly, "Pol's not gonna kiss you, I bet!" she teased, and then got real quiet at Aoaka's suddenly stern frown, fidgeting with the trim on her dress.
"Hush, Debi! This behavior is unbecoming of a young lady! Behave or we will leave early," he said. He glanced at Alicia and looked suddenly embarrassed.
"Ah.. Pol and I were... well... starting to be a couple..." he started to explain, hoping Alicia didn't think he was being a cad. "I haven't seen her around for some time. I was hoping she'd come to the dance, but...

"Really? Not too much of a surprise. He never told me he had friends either...but then again, he hardly visits his only blood-sister. It is certainly a pleasure to meet all of you though." They all looked so...young. Her and Tristen coming up on two years just seemed...old in comparison. "I'm not too busy at all though." He heard enough. Tristen pushed away from the wall as he smoothly took off the hat and dropped it on his sisters head. "Unfortunatly though, she doesn't know how to dance. Never learned from mom." He stopped beside her, offering a small smile to everyone. "Its good to see you, Hyacinthus...and...Texas I believe?" His golden brown eyes flicked to Haru. "I do not believe I've met you before though." She ducked her head slightly as the weight dropped on her head, almost hissing. Almost. She straightened as she cleared her throat. "If I didn't know better, I'd say you were trying to get rid of me, Lover Boy. But...true enough, I don't know my way around the dancefloor. You all have fun." "Actually..." He glanced over at Amara. He was running out of time...and he didn't know when he'd next see his friend. With a slow breath, the male smoothly bowed at the waist, one arm coming around his stomach as the other extended towards Hyacinthus. "Would you first honor me with a dance?" Now was his chance. He couldn't wait to see the others face when he saw it...
OOC: And I'll get to Erylia's, Dayhts, Adora's and Cressida's responses when I come back from school...dang, I do have a lot of pae in this.
Oh, and tei xd I hate Kane. I almost want to bring out Raken to beat the tar out of him.

(I know that you've had a lot on your plate, so thanks for replying. Also, yay to Tristen for protecting Cinthy^.^)
Now he was getting a very bad feeling about...well, everything. Tristen knew best, so far as he could tell. He didn't want to dump his friends, but there was something so wrong. He felt that he had just been saved from a very, very big mistake. "...Sure," he said, his apologetic eyes turned toward Texas Pete and Haru. He whispered to them, "I'm really sorry. I'll see you again soon, I promise." Maybe then, he could find out what he should have done.
Taking Tristen's hand, he allowed the love pae to lead him off. Even as he walked off, he glanced apprehensively over his shoulder at the people he left behind. They wouldn't be angry with him, right? Surely they sensed that there was something amiss. And maybe Amara wouldn't do anything to them. Who was she? He could tell that Texas didn't like her one bit. Why should he fear her? "Tristen, why do you want to dance with me?" he asked quietly. Under any other circumstances, he wouldn't think to question him and instead would be immensely flattered.
