I find it terribly tragic to end a life, but a lot of these abortions are from teen mothers. They most likely didn't ask for this.
They have their whole lives ahead of them, and having a baby would end that.
So yes, I think it should be legal.

I'm only 18 with a 6 months old daughter and the only reason I think it should be legal is rape. Do you really want to carry a child that will only remind you of that time? I love my daughter and I am so glad I did not abort, but I understand the whole deal with being a teen. My sister got pregnant at 15. Now that is definitly too early! Now she has 2 kids, but it is depressing to think that they would have had an older sibling. I do not think she is happy about that, but I listened to her and I'm so happy I have my daughter.

I have not been able to go to college, but now that there are internet classes I think I will be able to do anything that I want.

i wish you and your daughter all the happiness. heart

I don't like the fact that it is killing thousands of babies at all. But what if a girl gets pregnant, and isn't ready. Has no job, home, education, or a lot of money. Do you really want a child to grow up that way? Or just be given to a random family that might not take care of him/her.
Also, rape, is a huge part of this. Rape can be very painful for a girl to handle, and I don't believe it is right to force the girl to have the baby she probably didn't want in the first place.

I don't think it's right to kill a baby at all. But I think it is up to the woman and the man to decide what they think is right for their baby. I hate to say this but I do believe it should be legal for those reasons...

yes over population, health of the mother, health of the child.

Yes because honestly its that woman's body she should have the choice to do what she wants with it. If abortion was illegal than people wanting an abortion would find other ways.... It's sad but if they really wanted, they would do anything...

When you get older you get more responisblities, teens know what the consequences were/are. I think that only if it's financial, or health issues, abortion should be used.

I don't see why it's such a big deal if someone wants to stop themselves from having one.
Having it be illegal would just cause so much drama! Way too young mothers, rape victims, and others...

Alrighty, here we go!
I'm kind of in between, I think it's wrong and I would never do it, but it is sometimes necessary.
Now, for those who say "Don't want a baby, don't have sex" there is one problem with that: some adults get married and don't want children. Does that make them bad? Does it mean they shouldn't consecrate their vows? Abortion in this case is wrong. But there are ways, like getting tubes tied, uterus removed, etc. to avoid it. (By the way, if they only don't want the baby now you can get your tubes untied!
Same with single women.
Now, teens and rapes, those are harder to just say 'no' to. A rapist wants only satisfaction and power, the women who are attacked and successfully raped are victims, but the potential child is a victim as well. It is not the unborn child's fault that their father was a power-hungry b*****d (excuse my profanity). But a woman should not have to live with a constant reminder. I know it's not financially possible, but oh, how I wish, we could just move that baby to another mother who wants a child and doesn't really care where it came from. But, for rapes, I will sadly agree to abortion. T^T
Now, on to teens the "don't have sex, don't get pregnant" argument is a little more sensible. However, it is sad, but in the heat of the moment, your body says yes and often overrides your mind's more sensible no. I know it has happened to me when in love. And face it, teens fall in love much more than adults, because they do not fully comprehend what it is (I was a teen, I will get yelled at by others, but I am 17, almost 18, now, time to grow up). I don't know what to tell those girls, I don't think abortion is good, I really don't, but having taken a Human/Child Development class, I think that abortion should be a choice- not as another form of birth control, but as a fail safe when multiple forms of birth control are used and fail.
I want to cry for the unborn children who could have done so much for the world, but, sadly, sometimes abortion is the only way.

I support abortion for a multitude of reasons. While probably two percent or less of the population would disagree with the statement that a woman who is raped or will die from having a baby should be allowed to have an abortion, many more would say that aside from these circumstances it should be illegal. I can understand the position that these people take. They believe a fetus to be a baby, and murder generally is not a good thing. I won't attempt to argue that a fetus is not a living human (Though that is not my personal belief.), but I will say that rape or possible complications are not the only extenuating circumstances that should be factored when debating the merits of each side of this issue.

All people on this planet make mistakes. Yes, some entail more dire consequences than others, but the fact is that errors of judgement simply happen. The physical and mental stress that some people endure during pregnancy can derail their lives, especially if they're faced with things such as school or the closed-mindedness of others. It's hard to deal with life when every time you exit your house, the neighbors make a snide remark about keeping your legs closed. Also to be considered are the obvious ramifications of attempting to raise a child while on a low income or other such setbacks.

Not every woman that has chosen to have an abortion made that decision while faced with particularly crippling obstacles. Some were merley stupid in their actions, and whether or not you believe it justified to condemn them for one mistake, it should be said that a person that would kill a child simply because of their own selfishness will never be fit to raise a child.

"But wait, Shane, you didn't say anything about adoption. There's always adoption!" While this option may always exist, it can be a difficult decision to make even for women that can physically and mentally endure the pregnancy for several reasons. First of all, it can be incredibly difficult living with the knowledge that somewhere on this planet, there is a child that you brought into being, and now you'll never even know their name. It can be painful to spend a life thinking that this child could be absolutely miserable somewhere (though they probably aren't, but humans are irrational creatures) and it's your fault. Secondly, a lot of accidental children that aren't put up for adoption do not live happy lives. Some mothers can become jealous, even resentful of their children. Why do they get to laugh and live comfortably while I have to sacrifice myself because of one stupid thing that I did? Furthermore, many mothers that accidentally have a child and choose to keep it are simply unfit to raise kids. They may not be ready for the responsibility of caring for a child. They may not even be responsible enough to care for themselves. Lastly, I'd like to say that the world is already an overpopulated place, or in the words of David Bowie, "Figures have reached danger point, my God!" We work with a very limited number of resources, and adding further strain to that amount is not a good thing. I in no way advocate limiting the amount of children that a prepared parent should be allowed to have, but many parents are not ready for children, and it could possibly (and usually) be better for them to not have children.

But, what do I know.

I believe abortion should be allowed and freely available to girls of all ages.
I don't believe it should be used as a form of birth control though.
After a few times of getting it done there should be a cut off somewhere.
When I was a teenager I knew of a girl who turned to a metal coat hanger because her parents were "pro-life".
Needless to say she ended up badly injured because of it.
A young girl shouldn't be forced to have a child and ruin her life further because she made a mistake one night.
Not only that how fair would it be on that unborn child to be raised in such a way and have a mother who's not ready and cannot support a child.
So instead of the couple hundred dollar procedure, lets throw another mom and kid on welfare..because that's really what this world needs. razz

Mmkay. I think abortion should be legal and available to everyone and anyone who needs it.

Some say it's murder, and unethical - these people are choosing the unborn child over the mother. There are cases of rape, incest - even genetic disorders that would cause the child to suffer immensely. Not to mention the strain pregnancy puts on the human body! Some even DIE in childbirth. How's that for pro-life?

A lot of those who request abortion do so because they are unable to take care of it. So adoption is suggested.
That's dumb.
You're expecting this woman to go through nine months of pregnancy with a kid she's not even going to keep? Childbirth does things to your body. You can't really go back to the way you were before. If you want details, look it up xD

Now, after the child is born, this little thing called maternal instinct kicks in. The mother becomes protective of their child in most cases and refuses to give it away. This leaves either a. A mother with a child she can't take care of, or b. A kid to be adopted by strangers, possibly unable to ever see their biological parents again, and a mother with inevitable psychological issues caused by her child being taken away.

Oh, and I think the father has no say in this because he's not the one carrying the child. He does not have any rights concerning the woman's body. If he wants a kid, he can adopt.

Now here's a question:
If you had to choose between a grown woman and a fetus, which would YOU save?

This is hard, because it's such an awful thing. Abortion is kinda hard to decide what choice to make, because abortion is basically killing a child, and you can't say it isn't anyway, anyhow. On the other hand, our economy is in a recession, making it hard to currently raise a child. I don't believe population is much of a matter; if we decreased the population, it would actually help us considering that it means less money to spend on less people. Plus there's the people who have been raped.. their only choice would to have an abortion unless they for some reason want to have a child who will forever know their biological father was a rapist...

First of all to all of you people using statistics, most are either inaccurate or fake. Second I beleive it should be choice, I would never get an abortion and banning them for the women who were raped, or more liable reasons isnt right. Just because some women choose to have them for not so good reasons, doesnt mean we should end up closing off access for abortions for people who need them or have good reason for them. We can't ask every women who gets an abortion why to see whether or not she deserves it or something, its their choice not ours. Even if its agianst your religon it doesnt affect you. Its their desicion their life and we have to trust them with that. To take that choice away is cruel and unjust. i say that abortion should stay choice whether we like it or not.

Abortion should be pro-choice. However, we should raise our children to be able to have enough sense to be able to make that decision. I wouldn't use it for birth control - that's just not right. But, where children who are raped, especially where incest and the possibility of death or poor health results because they're too young, and even those who have enough of a disability that they aren't able to take care of a child, yes.

I believe abortion is perfectly fine.

For all of you nae-sayers to abortion think of it this way, an embryo is nothing but stem-cells, which are nonspecialized cells, which can become anything, the only thing telling them to become a baby is DNA. You can compare this to something as simple as hair, you lose some everyday, but it contains your DNA, and can be made into life(through cloning), by letting it go to waste are you killing a life, or simply never starting it?

If you don't believe in abortion for whatever reason, that's great, don't do it, but do NOT take away the choice for the rest of us, extremism gets us nowhere, moderationism does.

I believe that a woman has the right to abortion. It is her body and she can do what she wants to it and for that matter anything inside it
