Demeter trotted outside and headed down the street. She turned towards the left and then went down that path. She stopped infront of the doorstep of a home. She stood on her hind legs and rapped at the door. "Mmmmrrrrrr . . . . "

"Miirraaaa!" She kept pawing at the door.

Soon the door was open and there was a little old lady in the home. She looked at least 80 years old. "Ahh. . . Demi-chan . . . . So nice of you to come by. . . . . ." She looked at the three, "Come in. . Come in . . . . . Frinds of Demi-chan, yes?" The old woman was walking with her cane towards the living room where the couches were.

Demeter trotted behind her.

"Whatever for?" She asked.

Demeter took this as a cue and headed into the woman's bedroom. Some shuffling was heard and the theraquad came out with a red silk cord. "Mrrrr. . . . "

"Ah . . ! That. . . . . ." She nodded and motined them to sit as Demeter came with the red cord.

"A ceremonial cord. . . . . Horrible memories." She sighed and closed her eyes. "I believe. . . . It was . . . . . 75 years ago. . . since I had last worn that dreadful thing."

Demeter laid down at Sanzo's feet.

"75 years ago. . . . . . There used to be a small village up in the mountains. . . . Our village was in charge of keeping the pit of hell closed. . . That pit had opened during the war between Heaven and hell during the final clash." She started to remember. "There were two rituals. . . . . To keep such thing closed. . . ."

"The first ritual . . . Was based on a belief. Whenever there are twins born. . . It is believed that a soul had been split in half before birth. . . . . The ritual took place in the ceremonial room. . . . The atlar, only a few feet away from that hole." She took up the red cord, "At the age of 13. . . . On a full moon night. . . . . The sacrifical twins were meant to wear this vile thing and be taken to the room . . . In there. . . . They were forced to kill . . . Their own sibling with their bare hands."

Her hand started to shake with the cord in it. "It was said. . . That when one twin dies. . . The soul that was halved at birth becomes whole again. . . . . . . The corpse of the dead twin was used to seal the hole or strenghened the seal. . . . This was done with every twin born in the village. . . . "

"They were killed on sight. . . . Believed to be those in league with hell . . . . . . They were, like foreingers. . . Automatically part of the second ritual . . . ."

"They were bound tightly. . . . So tight they can barely breathe . . . . They bones on the verge of breaking as it was said. They were hung in a tree and beaten to near death. . . . They threw the near dead people into the pit." She shook again, almost crying. "I had thought. . . . That I had stopped that nightmare . . . 75 years ago . . . . ."
