'Oh, come on,' Riza thought, sighing as her Gardevoir's attack was blocked by an effective Protect from Erika's Vileplume. She wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, wishing she'd thought to pack a handkerchief or something and she squinted up at the gym's ceiling. She didn't like this hot, humid heat one bit. "Okay Yula, no problem. Psychic, again," she called, sweeping her arm out in front of her. Yula did the same, only hers was accented by another teal hue and a second wave of powerful psychic energy rippled across the gym toward the Vileplume.

Katie's attempt to chase after the young ninja would prove to be in vain as once the kid was out of sight, he might as well have vanished completely. Katie turned a corner in the corridor she was walking along and found herself facing what was very likely the gym's arena. 'This looks promising,' she thought, looking around for signs of anyone who might be named Maylene. "Hello?" she called out as she stepped into the arena. "I'm looking for the gym leader. Is anyone even here? Kojiro?" she called the young boy's name a bit hopefully at the end but of course he didn't appear.

"Ah, Kojiro. You'll have to pardon our youngest member. He's still young and very excitable." A voice behind her made Katie jump and she turned around to see a strong-looking man in what she'd assume to be the gym's uniform. A black belt was tied around his waist and her eyes widened slightly. "If you are looking for Maylene," he continued, holding up a poke ball. "You'll have to defeat me in a two on two battle, first! Machoke, front and center!" his voice had gotten suddenly quite louder and he threw the poke ball to reveal a much larger and stronger version of the Machop she had just faced.

"Okay, here we go again," Katie said, nodding as her fingers found a poke ball. She let it fly, revealing her Roselia, fresh off her small vacation. "Let's make this one quick, Seraphim! Leech Seed, let's go!" The Roselia gave a happy cry before spinning around, the roses on her arms each glowing as she shot out a small barrage of seeds towards Machoke.

Again, Brock tilted his head slightly as his challenger conversed with the air around him, eventually leading to the command for a Heat Wave. Brock let out a low whistle as that wasn't a move he saw too often. Even still, it was a fire-type attack and his Pokemon resisted it. "Brace yourself, Geodude, and prepare to counter with Magnitude." The Rock Pokemon gave a nod, which was essentially nodding most of its body and it crossed its strong arms in front of it in an x shape, hunkering down as the burst of hot air washed over him. The rock type stood strong, definitely feeling the attack but managing to shrug off a lot of the damage at the same time. The Rock Pokemon then unfurled its arms and slammed them down on the ground, causing it to tremble and shake and spew bits of rock and dirt into the air.

Ben's jaw dropped when he saw the assortment of badges come out of Kasiya's pouch. "Wow, too cool! You already have eight badges? You must be really awesome," he said with admiration in his voice as he looked up at her, clenching his fists excitedly. "How many Pokemon do you have? Twenty? Fifty? A hundred?" He grinned, imagining all of the different Pokemon she must have seen in her travel across three regions. "That's so cool.. That's what I wanna do, too. I wanna get all the badges in Johto, and then go visit other regions and get their badges too. I'm gonna get all kinds of cool Pokemon on my team!" He was feeling really lucky to have met such an awesome trainer, and he was fired up about getting to train with her. Maybe some of her trainer know-how would rub off on him, and he'd be awesome too.

A soft sight escaped Erika's lips; she knew that this time, the battle would be ending. The Gardevoir's powerful Psychic attack ripped through the air and slammed into the prone Vileplume, who was unable to even react properly. With a little whimper, the Flower Pokemon slumped to the grassy ground, the petals on her head wilting sadly. "Darling, you fought bravely. Return now for a good rest, okay?" The gym leader recalled her fallen Pokemon, and glanced over at her challenger, finding a small bit of satisfaction at Riza's discomfort inside the gym's atmosphere, and she decided then that she would not be inviting the dark-haired girl for tea, as she seemed quite eager to get out of here as it was. "Congratulations, Riza," she said, giving a bow. "That was quite a match. I'm pleased to say that your Pokemon are all very impressive, and it was a pleasure to battle with you."

A girl with light brown hair done up in a long, single braid and a kimono that was much like Erika's appeared to Riza's left, and Erika nodded. The girl nodded as well and approached the victorious challenger, holding out a small tray that contained Riza's newly won Rainbow Badge, as well as her prize money, and a green disc in a case. "My coveted Rainbow Badge, as well as my favourite TM, Giga Drain. It works well with Grass-type Pokemon, as you probably should know. I'm certain you'll make good use of it." Her gaze fell to the small, green Pokemon by Riza's side, and for a moment, she just watched it. Is that a Snivy? she thought. I have only seen those in books.

The next several moments consisted of Monferno and Bibarel throwing attacks back and forth, though attacks may not have been the right word to describe their fighting. The chimp would screech and swipe his claws at Bibarel, who would in turn grow, and then try to do the same, only her stubby arms and lack of claws made her attempts at a Fury Attack be in vain. Settling for spinning around and slamming the Fire-type with her tail, this continued until both Pokemon were breathing heavily and covered in scratches and bruises. The two glared at each other for a moment and then both smirked, acknowledging the other's strengths before they both fell forward, unable to continue battling. "Well... that was a thing," Jaeshan murmured as he recalled Bibarel, finding he was at a loss for words for what to do with the Beaver Pokemon.

"A thing?" Lisa giggled, recalling her Monferno. "I dunno what it was about your Bibarel, but Monferno doesn't usually lose his cool like that. I mean, he's pretty hot headed, being a Fire-type and all, but still. Even for him, that was weird." The blue-haired girl then began to rock back and forth on her heels, a pensive look on her face. "So Jaeshan, do you wanna do one more each?" she asked, the thoughtful look changing to one that was a bit more mischievous. She'd taken another ball out, though this one was bluish with black lines crisscrossing the upper hemisphere.

Jaeshan eyed the Net Ball carefully (though he didn't actually know that it was a Net Ball), not entirely sure he liked that impish glimmer in Lisa's eyes. She was so excitable and energetic, however, and soon enough, his curiosity got the better of him and he nodded, glancing over at Salamence, as she'd grown bored of watching the battling and was now napping instead. Aside from the dragon, all he had left was Grotle, but that was okay with him since Salamence still made him feel a little nervous. "Okay Lisa, you're on," he said, smiling as he tossed out the Grass-type's Pokeball. "One more each."

Lisa smiled fondly as Jaeshan's Grotle appeared on the field, looking a bit nervous as his gaze came to rest on the snoozing dragon. This had been the little Turtwig that Professor Rowan gave him, and somehow she knew he wasn't far off before he became a fully-grown Torterra, and she wondered how the blond would react to a huge Pokemon with a tree growing out of its back. "I hope this guy isn't too much for you," she called, eagerly tossing the Net Ball forward. It burst open in midair, light practically rocketing out of it before it took shape into a rather large and serpentine Pokemon, sunlight glinting off its steel-hard scales. A ground-shaking roar was loosed from its gaping mouth and it thrashed its tail, glaring at the tiny-Grotle with nothing less than hate-filled eyes.

Kasiya's cheeks flushed from Ben's praise, and she giggled slightly as she carefully placed them back into the little pouch. Yes, she definitely needed to pick up a badge case, or two, or three - especially if she wanted to catch up to Mike! She idly wondered if he'd beaten Brock yet, finding herself feeling energized by Ben's spirit and suddenly she wanted to be in Violet City right now, showing this Falkner fellow a thing or two. "How many? Err... well not that many," she laughed, her face scrunching up as she tried to determine exactly how many Pokemon she did have. After a quick mental headcount and the decision that she'd include Mai's Flygon among her ranks, she blinked in surprise, apparently shocking herself with how many she did have. "Um... nineteen, I think," she said finally, scratching the back of her head a bit sheepishly. "But then again, I have been at this at a while, now. It's not like it all happened overnight."

It was hard not to think about how far she'd come in that time, as she could still recall wandering into the Viridian City Pokemon Center with just a newborn Eevee, and staring in awe at the belt full of Pokeballs belonging to the trainer in front of her. She smiled, quickening her pace a little as she imagined what Ben would be like after some time had gone by. "If you want, I could introduce you to the rest of my party," she said, spinning on a heel and looking at the younger boy, a Pokeball already in hand. "Who knows, maybe you'll get some kind of inspiration from them!"

"Ooooouch... You didn't have to punch me so hard." Dante whined as they sat down at the dingy bars counter. Pouting a bit he rubbed his arm where the redhead had punched him. He was probably going to look like a beaten wife in the morning, what with Keegan being much stronger then him and his tendency towards bruising. Letting out a sigh he flashed the bartender his fake ID, the bartender didn't look like he cared all that much as long as it was a passable ID, and ordered a beer for himself absentmindedly rubbing his arm now as he looked around the room with mild interest. When his drink got there he paid and took a long drink from it. The cool bitter intoxicating liquid would put this day in the more pleasant light of inebriation

"Hey Keegan. I bet I can drink more then you." He taunted raising his glass and waggling his eyebrows in a challenging manner. It never crossed Dante's mind that the two of them together were the gold member passengers on the bad decision making express, all aboard!

"Sorry there, Princess. I forgot that you bruise like an overripe Pecha Berry," Keegan chuckled, obviously not sorry at all as he plopped himself down on the bar stool next to Dante, taking a quick second to study their new surroundings. The outside of the place hadn't looked all that appealing, but the interior didn't really do much for it, either. It reeked of stale beer and other not-so-subtle aromas, and the pictures on the wall were old, faded and stained yellow from years of heavy cigarette smoke (before the days of city bylaws and smoking in public places and the like) but Keegan figured they probably couldn't get in to anything nicer. It hadn't occurred to him that Dante was probably underage until he flashed his ID at the bartender, prompting the redhead to raise his eyebrows. Okay, that's gotta be fake, he thought as he reached for his own ID, only to be dismissed by a wave from the bartender, and Keegan wasn't sure if he should feel offended or happy because of it. Regardless, he ordered a beer as well, looking over as Dante was the first to indulge in what was probably a very bad idea to begin with.

He raised his eyebrows again at the challenge, giving Dante an unimpressed look. "Yeah, right," he said, rolling his eyes as he received his own drink. "Not when you drink like a little sissy girl, you wont," he added, realizing that his voice was a lot more taunting than he intended it to be. He decided the challenge was on, however, and after paying as well, he raised the bottle to his lips, completely aware that he wasn't generally one to make solid life choices while sober so it was only natural to make excessive amounts of alcohol a factor in that, as well. In a few gulps he'd finished his first beer, already signaling to the bartender for another for each of them. "You're on, by the way," he added, slapping down payment for the second round on the counter like it were a hundred-dollar bill. "But don't think I'll be holding back your long, luxurious hair while you puke your guts out later on, either." He didn't notice the unimpressed look they were both now getting from the barkeep as he set down two more beers in front of the boys.

Keegan snatched his up and began to drain it as he looked around the bar again, already having a change of heart about the place. Over in the corner stood a sad-looking pool table, and not too far from that, a dartboard that had clearly seen better days. The initial drinking challenge already forgotten, Keegan jumped down from his stool, grinning like the idiot that he was. "Hey," he said, gesturing to the dartboard once he had Dante's attention. "Bet you couldn't hit the broad side of a Wailord... Princess," he added tauntingly, having already decided that his clever new nickname for Dante was his new favourite thing.

To Miharu's disappointment, Professor Juniper could not stick around all day and hang out with her and the newly-named Emile as she had responsible, professor-like duties to attend to, so before long the girl and her Oshawott had more-or-less been 'kicked out' of the lab. This didn't bother Miharu in the slightest, however, as she already felt as though she was greatly indebted to the professor for everything she'd done for her. It was far too nice to restrict themselves to the rest of the house, so before long Miharu had made her way outside, Emile tottering along behind her. The otter would occasionally stop to look at something that he found interesting, and would cry out and flail about wildly to get the girl's attention. Miharu would look back at the Water-type, force a weak smile and then continue on, much to Emile's disappointment, though after about ten steps or so he'd forget all about it and the process would repeat itself.

Nuvema Town was not overly big in any sense of the word and before long, the pair found themselves on the outskirts of town. Miharu stared up at the posted sign that informed travelers that this is where Route 1 began, and for the briefest of moments, she considered leaving the town altogether, and though a part of her knew that it was probably for the best and that Juniper would want her to go, she decided against it, and instead climbed up a grassy hill, ignoring the whines of protest from her still-chubby Oshawott. Once they were at the top, she could see the beginning of Route 1 spread out before her like a massive picture book, and she sighed. Unova was quite a beautiful place, there was no doubt about that. The girl flopped down onto the grass, her beret tumbling from her head and landing behind her with a soft thud. Large, puffy white clouds were slowly drifting by overhead, and the girl frowned when she saw one that resembled an adorable little Mareep more than it should. Emile, wheezing and panting heavily from the uphill climb had only just ambled over to his trainer's side, looking very much like he could just keel over and sleep for a day or three. For a while the two stayed just like that, with Miharu staring up at the blue sky and trying hard not to see her Pokemon in the cloud-shapes and the Oshawott (now pretending) that he was having a heart attack.

This time, the joke was on Karrigan - Damien hadn't planned to utter either of those phrases when the redhead informed him of the lodging and just how late in the evening was; instead the dark-haired youth just nodded in agreement and followed her as she started in the direction of the stairs. Damien kept his eyes downcast as he walked, having spotted more than one entity that was not of this world among the living, but the fact that he wasn't even looking at them didn't seem to matter. He'd learned over the years that when one ghost knew that he could talk to them, all ghosts in the area seemed to find out - it was like they were using some sort of spectral social media or something.

It didn't take long for them to find the proper wing, as it became clear that they were not the only ones taking refuge in the Pokemon Center tonight. Several doors leading to rooms lined with bunk beds lined the hall, many of which were already full of adventuring trainers, some clad in pajamas and trying to sleep while others talked loudly about their Pokemon and achievements, even if no one seemed to be listening to them. "...This is quaint," the dark-haired youth stated dryly once they'd found a mostly-unoccupied room. The far bunk in the corner was full, but its occupant was already asleep. Damien said nothing else and simply chose a bed by tossing his bag onto it, though he knew that he would not be falling asleep any time soon. He could feel a faint buzzing inside his head and he sighed, massaging his temples with his thumb and index finger. Perhaps he'd wait until Karrigan fell asleep and then he would head back outside to continue training with his Pokemon - might as well make use of his frequent insomnia.

Ben grinned, nodding excitedly when she offered to show him the rest of her Pokemon. "Sure! That'd be awesome!" he said as he sat down on the grass nearby, as if to watch a show. Taking his pokeballs, he released his Pikachu and his Pidgey, grinning at them. "Hey, guys! We're gonna meet this girl's Pokemon, so be nice." Pidgey slowly looked between his trainer and the girl ahead, his eyes curious as he blinked at the new person. Pikachu, on the other hand, saw Kasiya's Raichu and went charging toward her, sniffing the Pokemon curiously before suddenly taking on a happy expression and dancing around her with hopping jumps. "Pika pika, Pikachuu~!" Ben laughed, scratching his head a bit. "I guess Pikachu likes Shocker, huh? I don't think he's ever seen his evolved form, before."

Although the Psycho Cut not very effective against the Kakuna it was still away to stay out of its small attack range. Not that it would have mattered since all it could do against Odin was use harden and string shot. Not wanting the battle to take forever he ordered Odin to charge ahead. As he did the Kakuna used string shot on him, but the bladed body of the pokemon cut through the webs and kept him from being slowed down too much.

"Now unleash a barrage of fury cutters Odin! Don't let up!" Odin let out a cry to affirm the order. The bug catcher could only tell Kakuna to harden as Odin hit the Kakuna again and again with increasing force until finally the bug catcher simply had to recall the Kakuna. "You won't win this time!" Cried the bug catcher as he threw out a a Caterpie. "We'll see about that!"Withdrawing Odin Kressen threw out Gilgamesh who entered the fray clacking his formidable claws.

"Caterpie tackle!" The little bug pokemon charge at Gilgamesh with a tiny cry. "Gilgamesh use Agility to dodge it!" The water type easily side stepped around the Caterpie. "Now use bubble." A torrent of bubbles crashed into the Caterpie making it squirm, but it stood firm. This battle seemed more fair since Caterpie could actually move.

The Memory Experiment

Once more Claire fell asleep quickly and once more she dreamed of a multi-tiered tower that stood defiantly into the sky. It burst into flame as brass tiles and planks of wood rained down around her. Although she had an impending sense of dread, she strode through the burning doorway. She had to get inside and now she was. Claire turned around and saw the frame collapse behind her. There was no going back now, only forward. But where? Up or down? In the distance she heard the cries of some creatures.

There were three barks of different intonations. The first was sharp like the crack of thunder, the second was flowing like a calm brook, the third was roaring as if it belonged in the inferno that now surrounded them all. Yet all three were fearful. While she pondered these noises the world began to shift. Claire looked down at her now clenched, tiny fists. When did she get so small? She felt her hair. It was long and reached down past her shoulders. Didn’t she used to have long hair when she was a child? Was this dream really a memory trying to break through her amnesia?

The barking continued, this time even more urgently. Right, she needed to get moving. If she had learned anything from her first dream-ory it was that she had to keep going in order to not end up as a dust mote. The basement seemed the right choice. She made her way through the room and found a ladder leading downward. So far so good, she wasn’t dead! Grade-school Claire clambered down into the basement. It was naturally musty and the smoke and fire wasn’t doing much to help the atmosphere.

She squinted and coughed as she tried to locate the source of the noise. Off in a corner where the upper floor had collapsed she spotted them. Three pokemon, one red, one yellow, and the last a blue one trapped beneath a large wooden i-beam. The first two were scratching at the beam, trying to dislodge their friend.

"Caterpie use Bugbite!" The little bug type gave a fierce cry and leaped the distance from it to Gilgamesh in an instant. The Krabby lifted its claws up in an attempt to block the attack, but it was futile. The angry little Caterpie began to bite Gilgamesh's crown with its little fangs causing the water type no small amount of discomfort.

"Gah! Hang on Gilgamesh, use vice grip and then slam it down!" It wasn't hard to grasp the Caterpie since it was right on top of him. His claws closed around it squeezing it causing it to cry out then he slammed it into the ground several times until the bug catcher recalled it. "I-I'm not done yet! Go Beedrill!"

An angry buzz came from the Beedrill as Kressen recalled his Krabby. "Good, because we're just getting warmed up! Go Mateus!" The lovely Butterfree came out and slapped Kressen with her wing annoyed because she was napping. "Oww it's nice to see you too."

"Puff!" Cindy's Pokemon cried out.
"Rill!" Omelette retorted.

Once again, Sasha's Marill took center stage. Some of you may be asking-why the sudden shift? Why has it lately become the Omellete Show: starring Omelette? The answer is quite simple, really. Now that the Marill wasn't afraid of her-his (still getting used to that) own shadow, she-HE was more than willing to bring his best to every fight. So even though his transformation was still something she had to get used to, Sasha was at least happy to have a Pokemon with such an abundance in fighting spirit. Back to the fight!

"Ohh! A Rondoudou!" That's Jigglypuff to the rest of you. "How perfectly fitting for you!"
"You don't think it's too cutesy?" Cindy asked.
"Non, c'est parfait!"
"O-okay! Now don't go easy on me! I won't learn otherwise." Sasha nodded, keeping her swooning internal. This new, bashful side of Cindy was both unprecedented and extremely adorable. "Adkins, use your Pound attack!"
Aaah~! "Omelette, Boul'Armure!" The Jigglypuff ran forward on its stubby little legs, holding its equally stubby little hand up high. With a determined sounding 'paff!', it brought down the pain. Seconds before impact, Omelette curled into a ball and managed to shrug off most of the damage. While playing defensively wasn't his style, neither was getting slapped in the face. This Jigglypuff better buckle up, because it was about to be in for a trip to pain town. One way.

Of course, it is still a rock type.
And that Magnitude isn't going to be pleasant for your Litwick.

"I know both of these things." Mike replied, watching Pumpkin flutter around in a panic as the ground beneath him burst open and showered him with rock and dirt. "You often learn more from your failures than your successes! Just look at my mom! Half of her inventions blow up in her face but that's how the scientific process goes! Once you learn what doesn't work, everything that's left is what does!"
Oh! That's a very...optimistic way to look at things!
But you already know that shooting fire at a rock isn't very effective. In fact, don't you know pretty much everything about Fire Pokemon as it is?

"Yes, but Pumpkin doesn't."
I don't follow.
"Gotta learn your own limits if you're going to grow. Works for both people and Pokemon"
Whatever you say.

Meanwhile, Pumpkin was not looking too well. The flame on his wick flickered weakly as he looked back at his trainer with pleading eyes. "Don't worry, Pumpkin! You're doing fine!" Mike said with a smile. "Try an Astonish!" Oh my. That meant getting close. Um, okay, here goes! The miniature Pumpkin flew through the air and stopped just short of the floating rock, covering up his face. Suddenly, the Pokemon threw his hands to the side, revealing his now grim facade. His eyes were sunken and hollow, and his usually cute mouth was now wide and full of sharp teeth. One of the perks of being a Ghost Pokemon was how easy it was to rearrange your face for a quick scare.

"Beedrill use fury attack!" The bug poison type charge forward with its stingers just as Mateus let go of Kressen. It annoyed her that this brute thought he could just charge at her and get away with it. "Mateus use Confusion and send it flying!" Obliging, because she was going to do just that. The enery washed over Beedrill and he was smacked away from Mateus and into the ground.

It wasn't over yet though. "Beedrill use poison sting!" From below the Butterfree a barrage of needles struck her causing her to cry out in annoyance. They stung, but luckily she hadn't gotten poisoned. Spinning to avoid the rest Mateus gave the Beedrill enough time to fly back up so they could continue their battle.

By now it might be a little obvious that Kasiya was growing fond of being the center of attention (a good trait to have if she intended to follow through with her goal of beating the pants off Riza in the next contest) as she struck a pose in front of the carefully-seated Ben, grinning like a little kid in a candy store as he released his own two Pokemon. "Ohmigoooosh, your Pikachu is adorable!" she all but squeaked, resisting the urge to snatch up the cute little yellow mouse and snuggle him to oblivion, as she knew that the species could be quite temperamental. "Your Pidgey's a cutie, too! I bet it won't be long before you have a tough Pidgeotto on your hands."

Shocker, meanwhile, wasn't quite sure what to make of the excitable Pikachu that had bolted over to her, but she grinned regardless, remembering that she'd once been just like that (though anyone that knew better would know that the Raichu hadn't changed much with her evolution). She watched him dance around her, a few sparks flaring from her cheeks before she held out her paw for him to touch, a small, harmless current of electricity passing between them. It was a customary and traditional greeting for Electric-type rodent Pokemon, after all!

"Shocker's always loved meeting other Electric-types, especially other Pikachu and Raichu," Kasiya nodded, though the once exception being the time that the-then Pikachu battled her father's Raichu - there was definitely no camaraderie between them, not until the fierce fighting had ended, at least. "It's good for them, I think. To mingle with their own species and evolved-forms." The blonde grinned broadly, clearly eager to introduce her current party, and she did so with a flourish. Four Pokeballs and a Luxury Ball spiraled through the air before bursting open and releasing their contents onto the grassy ground. "Here they are!" she said proudly, though the sight of her recently-acquired Duskull gave her pause as she'd forgotten she'd even captured it, let alone added it to her party. "Allow me to introduce Nova the Charmeleon, Alphonse the Piplup, Zaira the Luxio, Pepper the Minccino and um... Wednesday the Duskull!" The Ghost-type had been floating around in a small circle and turned to look at her trainer as she was bestowed with a nickname. Deciding it could be worse she simply nodded and gave what could pass for a ghostly thumbs-up. Nova watched the newcomer with critical eyes, her flaming tail swaying slightly in the breeze. Alphonse had taken position at Kasiya's side and had puffed out his little chest in an attempt to look intimidating (but was failing at it quite spectacularly). Zaira sat on her haunches and watched a few small butterflies flitting along the flowers while Pepper hopped up onto her trainer's shoulder in order to hug the girl's face. "Aren't they all great?" Kasiya beamed, clearly adoring each and every one of her Pokemon, the new Duskull included. "And if you have any questions or whatever, I'll be happy to answer them!"

Jaeshan had scoffed at Lisa's comment, dismissing it with a wave of his hand. "Grotle and I can handle anything you throw... at... us..." His voice, however, trailed off as the massive Pokemon took shape before him. He could feel the blood drain from his face as a painful tremble wracked his body, and he wasn't sure if his heart was beating so fast that he couldn't hear it or if it had just stopped completely. As the Gyarados glared down at him, he was sure he felt himself leaving his body and he closed his eyes, suddenly overcome by the tangy smell of salt water. Unsure of if his mind was tricking him or if he'd just lost his marbles completely, he opened his eyes again only to find that he was no longer standing on the battlefield behind the Eterna City Pokemon Center - he was in fact, on a fair-sized yacht somewhere in the middle of the ocean. The sky was eerily dark on one half while the other was painted in a brilliant rainbow of reds, oranges and golds - the sun had just set and it looked like a storm was moving in.

"Oh, no," he murmured, panic rising in his chest as all at once, he remembered everything. It was as though the levee surrounding his mind had broken and the memory flooded him completely. He was helpless as he watched himself enjoy the dwindling sunset, and then the disturbing calm. He shouted at himself to stop; to seek shelter in the yacht's cabin as he ventured to the railing to peer down into the fathomless waters, unable to keep himself from shaking all over as he watched a dark shape swim beneath them. "No!" he shouted uselessly as the first Gyarados burst from the water, causing a ripple of waves to crash up against the side of the yacht. Seconds later, the second, and somewhat smaller Gyarados appeared as well, and Jaeshan screamed futilely as the two clashed only meters from him, the water churning violently from their struggle. The yacht rocked and lurched like a toy boat on the rough waves, water cascading over the sides of it and Jaeshan closed his eyes again, anticipating the tsunami that would throw him overboard.

Lisa, meanwhile, had laughed loudly when she saw Jaeshan's initial reaction to the sight of her Gyarados; even his Grotle looked like it would rather be anywhere else than facing the terrifying water serpent. "That's right, cower in fear of my mighty Gyarados!" she laughed, patting the Atrocious Pokemon's steel-hard, scale-covered body. Though he ate, drank and slept rage, even Gyarados knew something was amiss, giving a low growl. Lisa looked back over to Jae, now able to see that his face had gone ashen and that he was shaking all over. Aware of the fact that it was her Pokemon that had triggered this reaction, she quickly recalled the serpent and rushed to Jaeshan's side, only just able to help catch him as he'd fallen forward. "Jaeshan? What's wrong?" she asked, now feeling panicked herself. "Grotle... what's going on?" The Grove Pokemon could only shake his head, looking as helpless as Lisa felt. "Jaeshan! It's okay, please!"

"Yes, quaint," Karrigan repeated, finding herself to be more than a little surprised at how many people were already occupying some of the rooms, and she felt a sudden pang of anxiousness over sharing a room with so many, at least until she looked around the room. She stared at the back of the sleeping trainer until the thud of Damien's bag hitting a bed snapped her out of it. A thought occurred to her then, and she opened her mouth to ask the dark-haired boy if there were any ghostly visitors among them, but when she saw the way he was rubbing his head, she decided against it, figuring he likely had a headache or something like that. She set her own backpack down on the bed and unzipped it, carefully sorting through its contents before she came up with her pajamas and toiletries bag. She'd considered taking a shower, but decided to hold off on that until morning.

Figuring she didn't have to explain to Damien where she was going, she exited the room and after orienting herself, managed to find a sort-of communal shower/bathroom area. It was currently and surprisingly empty, though many of the other trainers had probably already finished their nightly routines as it was relatively late now. Karrigan stripped out of her clothes, finding them in less-than ideal condition, mostly thanks to the other day when she'd chased her over-excited Shinx through the bush before running from/fighting off/teleporting away from an angry swarm of Beedrill. She added clothes shopping to her to-do list for tomorrow morning as she slipped into her pajamas and folded her clothes. A quick examination of the circular wound on her left palm showed that it was still free of infection and actually healing quite nicely - the edges of it were already a rosy pink. At least it'll leave an interesting scar, she thought as she brushed her teeth and let down her hair, giving the red locks a good brushing as well. By the time she'd returned to their room, she was no longer trying to stop her yawning, and she was aware of just how tired she felt as she returned her things to her backpack. "Good night, Damien," she said to the dark-haired boy in a sleepy voice as she pulled back the covers and crawled under them, only vaguely aware of the sound of her Vulpix escaping her Pokeball in order to curl up on the foot of the bed.

As Sasha went over the list of moves she could use to counterattack, she realized that she had just accidentally (and by that we of course mean that this was 100% premeditated) created a very advantageous situation for herself with that last move. Having raised a Golem, Sasha knew very well what attack to use after Defense Curl. And-as luck (see also: skill) would have it-Omelette just so happened to share that exact move with the Megaton Pokemon as well. With a smile that totally didn't broadcast 'Hey, look what I just tripped into', Sasha confidently ordered: "Omelette, Roulade!"

While unaware of the precise synergistic nature between the two moves, Omelette couldn't deny he felt an odd rush of energy as he prepared to perform his attack. Sure, knocking heads was always a joy, but this was...different. Good, but different. The Marill hopped into the air, once again curling into a ball and spinning. Omelette hit the ground and took off like a bowling ball, smashing into the Jigglypuff, whose elastic body flattened comically underneath the Marill's weight.

"Oh my!" Cindy exclaimed as Omelette literally ran over her Pokemon and kept going, banked wide and came around for another pass. "Adkins, try to hit it with another Pound!" The Jigglypuff stood up, no doubt wondering if her trainer got the license plate of that runaway bus. Shaking herself off, she locked on to the spinning Marill, who was now screaming towards her at breakneck speed. With more than a little bit of hesitation, the Pokemon stood its ground and raised its hand to attack...and was summarily pancaked by Omelette once again. While Sasha felt a little bad at how heavy she was hitting Cindy, she couldn't help but smile at the indignant look on Adkin's face as it lie there smeared across the ground. Even Cindy found it a bit amusing, something that the Jigglypuff was not exactly thrilled at.

As Omelette came about once again, a thought struck the bespectacled secretary. "Aha! Adkins, Sing! It can't hurt us if it is asleep!" Re-inflating itself, the Jigglypuff took in a deep breath and began its signature tune, albeit a bit hurried due to the blue ball of death spiraling towards her.
"Oh non! Omelette...try to...block it out!" Sasha couldn't help but find the song rather...soothing...herself. Ah! She shook her head, snapping out of it. Unfortunately, Omelette was not as lucky. As Sasha came to, she noticed the Marill begin to wobble as he slowed down. While inertia had been Omelette's ally mere moments ago, it sure was no help to him now, as all that speed had to go somewhere, and it sure wasn't gonna be the Jigglypuff again. Now having completely succumb to Adkin's lullaby, Omelette's body went limp, disrupting his momentum and sending him spiraling out of control. The rotund mouse bounced several times before finally skidding to a halt, his face having gracefully broken his fall.

It was safe to say that all of Sasha's previous guilt had now completely transferred over to Cindy, who stood there sputtering anxiously at recent events. Sasha tugged at her collar. "Oh dieu. Z'hat was brutal."

Ben smiled happily when it seemed like Shocker and Pikachu were getting along, nodding as Kasiya spoke of it being good for them to mingle with their own kind. "Yeah, I bet that trained Pokemon don't get that too often," he thought aloud, figuring that most Trainers like to have a diverse team. Looking back to the girl in front of him, he grinned a little when she struck a pose and released her other five Pokemon. 'What, is she a performer or something?' Ben thought as he watched her. She seemed to be perfectly at home in the spotlight - but with Pokemon like hers, who could blame her? The boy's face lit up with interest and excitement as he saw the wide variety of Pokemon she had, especially her Charmeleon. He had always been fascinated by the Charmander-evolution chain, but had never seen one in person. In fact, since he was younger he had always thought it would be really cool to own a Charizard. Even so, all of her other Pokemon seemed pretty cute, too, and she definitely had a good spread in terms of battle variety. "Wow, they're awesome!" Ben exclaimed, getting up on his knees for a closer look at the Charmeleon. "How long have you had Nova for?"

"I think you're definitely right about that," Kasiya said, agreeing with Ben's statement about human-trained Pokemon not getting a chance to meet their own species all that often, and though neither of them said it aloud, she too thought it was because most trainers preferred to have a team of diverse Pokemon. Mike and his plethora of Fire-types came to mind and she smiled, realizing that if she ever got the chance to capture and train another Pikachu, she'd jump at that chance. She continued to beam as Ben looked over her Pokemon, not at all surprised to see him take a particular interest in Nova. "Oh, a while now," she answered, internally flinching a little as Nova's hatching had been one of the few good things that had happened on that day in Slateport. "She evolved recently, actually. I think she started a rivalry with my friend Keegan's Grovyle." The words escaped her before she could stop herself; thought of the redhead brought a small frown to her face, along with that slowly-increasing guilty feeling every time she looked at her Charmeleon, and she had no idea how to make it go away, either.

Luckily, the familiar whining of Alphonse caught her attention, as did the familiar pounding of the obstinate Piplup's flippers on her leg as the little water bird was once again jealous of the Minccino. "Oh, Al," Kasiya sighed. "Relax. Pepper's a baby, remember?" The Piplup huffed and turned his back on the trainer, flippers crossed over his chest, apparently decidedly more of a baby than the Normal-type. "You'll have to forgive Alphonse," Kasiya said, nodding to the Piplup. "He's a bit full of himself." She still owed him big-time for that mismatch against Hayley's Snivy yesterday, thought, and she wondered if he'd be able to hold his own against Falkner. "Should we keep moving?" she then asked, having lost herself in her thoughts for a couple of moments. "Violet City isn't going to come to us!"
