Quiddich confuses me, but the way Icee has different events representing different things makes it kind of neat.
If we do each part of quiddich as something different, then it would all come together kind of neat.
I love the quiddich avi contest, and using trivia could be for the beaters and the um...other people, then the idea for catching the snitch for some points is super neat. if there are 4 teams, would we do it tournament style with 2 teams playing each other, then both winners competing for 1st and both losers competing for 3rd, or would it just be one round and the highest points win?

A Qudditch theme would be awesome. biggrin Hrm. How would we mix up the members if we go with the team based idea?

Angilwingz Maybe for recruitment the winning house could get a revamp on their house ghost? Though that would only work for team based, cause I like the idea of mixing the teams up.

@Angil: Thanks! I find Quidditch confusing too so I never participate. It's a lot of planning left to get that event opened soon.
@Kitty: Depending on the number of teams we decide on we could use random number generator by the way the people sign up. Or let them choose a random number between 1-4 (using the generator) and that number be their team. If the team is full, they'll just have to do the random thing again, or someone assigns them.
The way my idea came to me wasn't like an all for one thing, each thread would be a separate part of the event. Just because you participate in one, doesn't mean you'd have to particpate in others.

I mean like give the avi a makeover, like when we made adonis, then we had a contest to see who could design the best affordable way for him to look. I noticed the House ghosts avis are kind of plain and dont really look all that much like who they're supposed to represent.

It took forever to do it but we finally finished it last year. No idea why but that was Slytherin's choice.

Hunter: 1-3 new members recruited
Seeker: 4-6 new members recruited
Golden Snidgets: 7 new members recruited

I don't know...I wouldn't want to make recruitment of new members a huge part of your efficiency/chances of winning a contest or something like that. It's rather like Gaia's little attempt with the Daily Chance change. I didn't see much positive response to that one, personally...

@Everyone: It may but, we need more active people here and I think this is a great way to start. Plus, not everyone has to be doing the recruiting. If they don't want to, we can let them decide what they would like to do.
And as to how we should do it. I think we should split everyone into two by using the generator and they can be sorted onto either the Transylvania (Romania) & Flanders (Belgium), they played the first Quidditch World Cup so, it would be interesting to use them again (which I said before). Plus, there were alot of fouls in the game including "The Quidditch team from Transylvania played Flanders in the first ever Quidditch World Cup final in 1473, a match famous for a wide array of fouls that included the Transylvanian captain releasing a hundred blood-sucking vampire bats onto the field." J.K. said that in one of her many Questions and Answers. There are more, they are for the most part in the 2nd link I posted before.

Romanian flag colors: blue, yellow, red...in that order.
Belgian flag colors: black, yellow, red...in that order.
Very similar colors, and typically a team will wear two, even if the country/flag has three. What say you to blue and yellow for Romania and black and red for Belgium? That way neither one is too similar to a particular house's colors (like yellow and red or black and yellow) and we don't have the interesting mess of someone submitting something mostly yellow and red with just a smidge of blue or black somewhere.
Make the fouls thing into a bonus trivia question or two. Of course, anyone who happens to have helped out in here - or at least read along - will know the answer, but hey, they would deserve it for aiding in the mass brainstorm.
Okay, how are we splitting people? Random number generator's all well and good, but we'll have to keep an eye on the overall numbers just in case of the odd chance that more people end up on one team than another. It shouldn't happen, especially if a larger number of people participate, but there's still a chance...

lol Some of those fouls are weird, huh? One of 'em is attacking an player with a sword. Quidditch used to be scary if they have odd fouls like that. rofl
