Anna-Marie heard him calling after her, however, she couldn't bring herself to turn around and face him. It was probably best to go back to her dorm. Personally, she'd had enough drama for one day. She tucked her hair behind her ear, planning to go on her way.

That was, until she felt a hand on her shoulder. She stopped, and watched as he stepped in front of her. She listened to his words, processing them. Earlier he had said, while she was walking off, that he hadn't meant 'that', whatever 'that' was. Then, he tells her that it was a joke. "Alright...What does that mean to me? Why come after me, Jake?...."

He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. His eyes roamed from hers to the canopy above as he thought of what to say next. Jake honestly didn't know what to say next and he gave a shrug. "Um...clarification?" It was more a question than anything else. The 7th year didn't know what else to say. Maybe he was worried Anna-Marie had gotten the wrong idea and he'd lose his chances with her for forever?

"You need a clarification...fine..." Anna-Marie trailed off, trying to compose her words to say what she wanted. Her brain went through and picked out the words necessary to make her statement clearer. " Why should it matter to me whether or not you were joking on that matter. On that note, why would you come after me? I'm not going to tell your secret...Unless it was because of a different matter entirely...." She trailed off once again, looking up at him, waiting for a response. Anna-Marie was pretty sure that she had clarified herself.

"A wise choice, Devin. Send Defi to us, and we'll see truly where his loyalties lie. If we deem him good enough, then we will find use for him. If he isn't loyal to the cause then we'll find a way to make him disappear." Draco said simply, closing his eyes as he shrugged.

Raven nodded. "Tell him around midnight. We have prefect duties tonight, and can keep him out of trouble with any late night professors." She said casually.

Neal straightened his tie and looked at himself in the mirror over the sink. He was in the boy's bathroom on the first floor near the great hall, because he wanted a bit of privacy right now and no one ever seemed to use this one. The kid's dark brown hair was messy and unkempt, his sweater was worn thin in the elbows and small holes had started to become apparent. His pants were just a tad to short and his shoes spoke of handme-downs and poverty. Sure his family didn't have much, but he was a Reed, and Reeds always pulled though. Or at least, that's what Mother always says.

The kid leaned on the sink and sighed; he was tired and done with the nonsense that was modern day wizard politics. He just wanted to have a normal childhood, but that was never going to happen, being the son of a single mother, a werewolf, a metamorphmagus, and one of the head kids in DA he had a fair bit of work ahead of him if he ever wanted to feel 'normal' EVER again.

"Cheer up there young Neal, you get to see Anna later and maybe this time you'll even talk to her."

He spoke to his reflection giving a forced but warm smile. This was how he helped himself, yeah talking to one's self was a sign was losing one’s mind, but he only did it when he was alone and it really helped.

"Not likely... But you'll get to see her..."

The poor bloke had a crush on Anna-Marie, the prettiest girl in Hogwarts, but she was working for the Death Eaters, and she was far too fit and sophisticated to even think about chatting with some one like Neal. Anna's parents had money and a gorgeous bone structure. Neal had... Hair that changed color and daddy issues? Not a very good sign for their future together.

The kid splashed some cool water on his face then dried it on his sleeve as he took a final deep breath. If he didn't leave the bathroom now then he probably never would. Neal walked out into the hall and made his way out onto the grounds. In his messenger style book bag he had a few things to read and a bit of homework. None of it super important, but he liked reading out of doors. It was under a small shade tree not far from the building, but far enough from it that he didn't hear the sound of students that he took a seat. The grass was dry and comfortable for sitting, Neal took out his Defense against the Dark Arts Text and opened it to the current page of study. It was it was his favorite subject.

Jake opened his mouth to answer, then snapped it shut and looked away without turning his head. He sighed and shrugged and walked the other direction. Not saying a word, but letting his body language speak for him.

He was...semi-depressed. The teen wanted to help Anna-Marie, and didn't think she'd rat him out, but it seemed she didn't want his concern.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Devin waved his hand up in the air before shoving both of his hands into his pockets. Truthfully he didn't know whether to believe his two fellow House mates.
Draco was already a Death Eater, and Raven was his girlfriend.
They were probably the most loyalist of them all, yet he had this gut feeling that some of their words were...empty.
He shook himself of the feeling. It was probably that he was in a bad mood. One that was not quite yet quenched. But at the moment, he had a message to deliver.
And instead of going off to find Christopher Odgen, like he had mentioned, he set himself to find Jake Defi instead.
Movement caught Neal's eye. Out in the woods, not far in, but close enough to see clearly. There was Jake, the slytherin Death eater a**. Neal moved his body just a little to get a better look and half way behind a tree he saw her. Anna. A light blush covered the guys cheeks and his hair changed from the deep brown to a warm chestnut. He closed his book and slipped it back into his messenger bag. If Jake was bothering the girl then he would have to do something about it.
Swiftly Neal approached them, His left hand holding his wand and his right balled into a loose fist. He opened his mouth to speak but only a squeak came out the first time. Yeah Neal may have been a Gryffindor, but he was hardly courageous.
"Is everything alright Anna? Is He bothering you?"
Neal gestured to the boy and gave a quick glare his direction. His hair changed to a darker shade of brown within the blink of an eye.
"Because if he's bothering you just let me know."
The poor kid was trying to act like a hero, little known to him that Anna's heart was already being held by the very boy he was threatening. Neal had hoped to impress her, to show that he would be a good match what with his bravery and...Charm? No not so much the charm.
"I-I would have not problem getting rid of a no good minion like him."
He said this part louder, making sure that Jake heard him clearly. This was the first time he had ever spoken to Anna and now that he started he couldn't seem to stop. There were no emergency brakes on his tongue.
Anna-Marie would have went after Jake, if it hadn't been for her brief glimpse into the future. Neal Reed was coming their way, and she wanted to keep Jake's Reputation in tact. He would need it for the job he was undertaking. She bit her lip in dismay, and turned to face Neal as he came into view.
Apparently Neal thought Jake was harassing her. Instantly she shook her head. "No, Neal...he was just informing me that he would start being the one that brought me to the Carrow's now...Instead of Crucius." And, it was the truth. Well, at least the plan. Honestly, she would prefer Jake to Crucuis any day. Plus, the fact that he wasn't a true supporter of the Dark Lord made it all the better.
She cast Jake a look at Neal's last words. Almost as if pleading him to just brush it off. Anna-Marie placed a hand on Neal's shoulder. "No, Neal...I'm fine...Don't worry about Jake...He's just doing his duty...I'm not worried about my own well being, as long as my family is safe..." She trailed off. Most people in her year already knew her family was held captive, and that she was only helping the DeathEaters due to that fact. She also figured Jake would want to continue on his way since he had already turned and began to walk off, but she'd talk to him later. "Comeon...We're not supposed to be in the forest...." With that, she led Neal out of the edge of the Forbidden Forest, hoping to distract him from Jake.
Jake saw Neal coming.
Not saw, as in foresaw...
But he literally saw him through the corner of his eye.
The Slytherin sighed a bit heavily. He kinda hoped that Anna-Marie would follow him, but this new happening brushed that aside completely. He ignored the Gryffindor and kept walking.
Then that remark came out. The words a little louder than the ones spoken before it by the kid. Words of challenge. Jake Defi slowed to a stop, and turned his head so he could look over his shoulder with the corner of his eye. There was hesitation in those words. Had he been a true supporter of the Dark Lord, he would not have hesitated and gone back to possibly impale Neal and parade him through the halls like he were nothing but a flag or an ornament.
But he wasn't.
The looked had been quick, and as soon as he gauged that no one else was around or watching them he slowly went back to walking, first along the edge of the Forest.
When he reached a point where he could not walk far enough without losing sight of the school he made a slight turn and headed back onto the proper schooling grounds.
He was making his way to Crucius.
"Oh... I'm sorry. I just thought that because he's a... It was rude of me to interrupt, you two. I just hate to see you used like this Anna.... I know we haven't spoken much but, well, It's unfair that you're being threatened just because you're different."
Neal was stumbling over words and getting more and more awkward as the seconds ticked by. He almost walked into a tree, he was so out of it. This wasn't going at all as planed! He was supposed to swoop in and be the hero, now he was just an a**.
The kid knew what is was like to be different, he knew what it was like to be picked on by the death eaters, but he never gave in completely. It was different though, he only had his dear old Mom to worry about, and she was just dandy back home all by herself. Anna had a few people to care about. They had something in common too though. They were both very different from their peers, Anna's difference made her an asset, and Neal's would have made him an outcast if anyone knew.
"Can I make it up to you some time? We could, I could... What's you favorite animal?"
That was one thing he was good at, enchantments. Charms! He could charm her a miniature and impress her with his skill! Girls like that right? It always worked on mother when she was angry with him.
Crucius had let Jake take Anna-Marie, not really caring what would happen to her. He himself had headed back up to the school and back to the Slytherin common room to mope. Neville had gotten away with hitting him, and he really didn't have the patience to deal with any other people who weren't in his house. So, he just sat there in the common room, reading. It was odd to ever see Crucius reading, it usually meant that if he was trying to keep himself from going all psycho on everyone by making his mind focus on something else.
Anna-Marie shrugged. She fully understood why she was being treated the way she was by the Death Eaters. As long as her actions didn't cause harm to her family, she was fine. "Honestly, Neal, my family is more important..." She said in complete confidence. Anna-Marie completely believed in it.
He seemed a bit awkward at the moment, and she didn't bring attention to that. Instead, she removed her hand from his shoulder and continued on her way back up to the castle. Maybe letting him go wasn't such a good idea, for he nearly ran himself into a tree.
Make it up to her? "Neal, I don't really see anything to make up..." She explained, biting her lip. He continued speaking regardless. Animal? To be truthful, she didn't really have a favorite animal off the top of her head. Hmm, magical creatures were far more fascinating than those Muggles were used to. "Umm...Probably a tie between the cat-like kneazle and the full-moon emerging mooncalf..." She explained, having had to really think of an answer.
"You know We cou- I could help you... The DA could help you. If you just give us more information, we could do something."
Neal looked down and thought over her favorite animals... A Moon calf? Did she know?! Was that poking fun at him? The kid's hair turned almost ginger and he looked up at the girl a stunned mask over his face.
"M-Moon calf?"
She couldn'- WAIT! She was a seer! Did she see him? NOT GOOD! She knew everything, she knew about his home life, his changes, She knew everything he was planning! Crap!
"That's... interesting I guess."
That sorry excuse for a man was blushing and perspiring at an immense rate.
Anna-Marie shook her head. Involving the D.A. would do no good to her, or her family. "Sorry, Neal, but that would probably just make things worse for them, and in turn, myself...." She stated, giving him an apologetic smile. It was really nice that he wanted to help, and she felt bad turning him down, but it was better for everyone involved.
She raised an eyebrow as his hair changed to an off ginger shade. She wondered what she had done to get that reaction. It probably had something to do with her favorite animals. "Yeah, I know that I could probably do better than a mooncalf." She stated, blushing a bit. "However, they are interesting shy creatures, coming out only during the full moon to dance their little dances." She explained in her defense. Yeah, she was odd, but that was a given, being a seer and all.
Jake had walked the halls without so much as a glance towards the others.
Why?
Because if someone like Neal had already known about his confirmed allegiance, who's to say everyone else didn't know either?
The only thing he was definitely worried about was Daniel's reaction. He was going to find him later. Probably in the halls. If he walked into the Gryffindor Common Room he'd probably get hexed or cursed right off the back.
His walk eventually took him to the Slytherin Common Room. Upon entry he felt like a total dumbass.
It was the one place he should have checked first and then relayed to his house mates that he was looking for him.
Too late now... Jake thought to himself as he stopped in close proximity to the teen. "Crucius...I have a...request."
Crucius had brought his feet up to rest in an unoccupied chair, trying to ignore everything else. However, trying to submerge himself deeper in his book wasn't working all that well. So, when Jake came up and started to talk to him, he just shut the book. Then, he proceeded to toss it onto the table. What was the point anyways? "Request? What for?" He asked quite curtly, needing an answer. .
