As far as the guild history goes, I've seen a lot of that information in the entrance hall, so it would be a matter of going an looking. And not all the questions have to go back that far, there would really need to be a good mix of random questions, those two were just the first ones that came to mind.

I agree with Icee on this. Since I was gone for a couple of years, I couldn't know everything that happened either, even though I was here very close to the beginning. And what about the Elfs? Alot of them don't know what's going on to begin with when they join (I mean just begin here, not those that have been her for a while and just haven't been sorted yet.) and now there is one more thing to learn how to do. This is suppose to be fun and my point is, it wouldn't be fun for everyone. At least, that's my 2 cents.

Alright, it was just a thought. We don't need to do the trivia. But what about the other games? The timezone one was sort of a brainstorm, and it wouldn't mean that they would have to be online at a certain time, it would be a random "secret" time. Actually, if we played all these games just in the one thread, then people would just have to post, and whoever posted closest to the "secret time" would win that competition. But I can see how it would be sort of unfair because of time zone differences, so instead maybe we have an avi contest? The theme being a very loose "hogsmeade" and let people do something creative with it?

I like the avatar idea and I like the trivia idea (but not necessairly guild history based)
We're not going to do a Hogsmeade theme because it's probably too soon especially since the subforum isn't even opened yet
We need a theme to work with though

Uhh....I'll give it some more thought tonight...
So then the event would consist of one roleplaying thread, that all can attend (students and house elves can have a field trip)
There will be 4 games held during the event, a dice rolling game, a random number game, an avi contest, and a straight "pick a name" contest. During the event someone will post random trivia questions and correct answers will be rewarded house points. The winner of each of the 4 games will get house points and get to name the first street in each of the 4 RAs.
Does this sound alright?

Okay, really confused now. Icee keeps saying no in different areas and Angil keeps saying ideas or reformed ideas. And Icee just said in the post above Angil that it's to soon for this Event to be centered around the Grads forum, which isn't even done yet.
As for another idea. I looked at the Holidays that are in June and July and the only two thing that really popped were Fathers Day and Flag Day, not exactly interesting for an HP Event in my opinion. So, I was just going over the major events that happened in June and July for HP and I found that the Qudditch World Cup would have been celebrated this year (every 4 years and the last one was in '94). Maybe we could have the Event based around that. There is definitively enough information on the subject that we could use to make the games and such.
So, what does everyone think?

Sorry, reason i keep talking about it is because i'm excited. I really want to do this event, whether it be sooner, or later on when we're better prepared. I just feel that the way I've decribed the event itself doesnt need for the forum to be functional yet.

No, perhaps the forum doesn't need to be functional...but it would be best if it was. Imagine participating in this event, having a blast, getting all excited about moving into the grad section...and then it takes another week or two to get the thing all properly polished and done. That's a little bit of a letdown. But we should save some of your ideas for a later event. I do still like the idea of hosting an event in that subforum. It would, as I said, housewarm it for the grads and get things rolling in there, and if we allow elves and students to enter the subforum that once, then it might perhaps give them something to look forward to and, therefore, stick around the guild longer.
Quidditch World Cup, huh? Okay, country-based Avi contest. We'd have to pick two countries, probably mostly at random, and then have people compete by creating a quidditch costume in the colours of one or both of the countries. Does this sound interesting?
If we end up liking the World Cup theme, then at least some of the trivia could be quidditch-based. Depending on how the trivia game is run, perhaps there could be bonus rounds worth extra points and the quidditch questions could come in there, whereas the regular trivia is general HP-themed.

I totally agree. We can definitely still use the ideas, lets just wait until it opens.
As for the two teams we could use, we could use Transylvania and Flanders (Flanders is a region that consists roughly of the northern half of Belgium and incorporates the Flemish region of the country.). They played against each other in the 1st World Cup.
And I like the idea of the Quidditch costume and a Trivia game. The Trivia Game could be loosely based off of the DC, just change out a few rules.
I do think we could use 1 or 2 more games though. Any other ideas?

AWESOME ALUTIAN! Forget my last idea. We don't have to stick with just Quidditch and HP trivia for the contest either. I think since it's summer we should step across House lines and do random teams instead (for instance all Puffies won't be on the same team, and all Gryffies won't be either, it'll be a random thing so that all the members can get to know each other)

So if our theme is the Quidditch World Cup, here's a few ideas (mixed in with Alutians), basically a field trip away from HPGoG!
Main thread: The Stands (That's where all the general chat and information will go)
Contest: Quidditch Avi themed. Game: Quidditch! (it's the Trivia thing we talked about. We gotta decide if we'll do individual or team based.
If we decide to do individual for the Quidditch game, we can do perhaps another game (Catch that Snitch?) as the team based. What I was thinking for that game, some kind of team scavenger hunt...It's a limited number of people that can play (24; four teams of six) and that will take some planning. Perhaps make it so that each person on the team is given a different clue they have to find, and then they meet with their teammates to find out the secret place/phrase/whatever as the Snitch. I'm just brainstorming.
The other part of this event could be the Quidditch Recruitment thing...perhaps if you get X number of people in the guild, you enter (whatever category), and then Y number of people in the guild you enter (another category). Whoever reaches the highest category/level is a sort of 'champion'. The higher level you reach, the better the prize. I don't know anything about Quidditch terms, but I'm sure we can mix them in somewhere in that, right?

Perhaps (about The Stands part and the rest)
Adonis can mention that since everyone here is amped about the World Cup he's putting on his own little version of the World Cup for all of the students/elves/whatever to enjoy!
(brainstorming more =))

If we decide to go in that direction, here are a few ideas for prizes:
Avatar Contest: Monthly Collectible for top Winner. Cash (or smaller prizes) for runner-ups.
Quidditch: Individual: Monthly Collectible Team-Based: Something for the guild common room, house points, gold?
Catch that Snitch: House points + (gold prize) depending on the number of people per team
Recruitment: No idea.... you all should brainstorm on that.

Maybe for recruitment the winning house could get a revamp on their house ghost? Though that would only work for team based, cause I like the idea of mixing the teams up.
