"I could have killed you!" he spat at her angrily, unable to remain patient and cool-headed while she was being ignorant. "Do you have a clue how close you were to brushing against my fangs, Lin? Do you?!"
He let his arms drop when she refused the embrace, cupping his face in his hands. "I could have killed you.. I could have killed you.. I could have.."
His finger tips clawed at his hair. He felt his back turning hot from anger at himself.
If vampires were able to commit suicide, he surely would have by now.
The coolness of her breath remained on his lips still. It had sent shivers down his being, and now he had shivers for something very, very different. Extremely different. Polar different.
"Can you just answer my question now? Are you okay? Did I hurt you in the slightest? Don't refrain from telling me the truth."

Lin had a sharp intake of breath when she heard Dymetri tell her about how close she was to her lips brushing against his fangs. That WOULD have killed her. She had been really close to dying...

But then she remembered how it felt to have his lips against hers, his arms wrapped around her, and she just couldn't make herself be scared. Cautious, yes, but not scared.

So, she turned on her bed so that she was facing him completely, and there was a large smile on her face. "Dymetri, you didn't hurt me, I promise. I am an Elf. I rarely, if ever, lie. I am perfectly fine."

"Self-absorbed? Self-absorbed?!?" Ialo was itching with anger. "I have every right to be!" However, he did do as Luna demanded, and they were back in the halls of the school. Ialo would have loved to dump her in the water, but he couldn't bring himself to do so. Well, not yet at least. "Maybe YOU could explain why you got so angry with me in the first place!"

He exhaled. A loud exhale, of relief. He turned to her just as she did and sighed. His eyebrows were still worried, his jaw neatly set to not show any concern. But it was apparent that he believed that some harm was done.
He leaned forward and kissed her forehead, ice-cold crystals forming on his skin where he touched her. It was refreshing, inviting to him. "I'm glad that you're perfectly fine.." he whispered before sitting back down.
He set his hand on hers.

She exhaled. A loud exhale, of relief. She unhooked herself from him and sighed. Her face was white with the previous terror and her hands shook, her nails no longer deathly sharp.
"I wasn't angry with you.." she said slowly, the drama of being so high up in the air, the anger she had that he would further terrorize her, wasn't in her anymore. "I just wanted to have a friendly little fight, is all."
She really didn't, not before anyway. But her face could have fooled even herself. She sat cross-legged on floor, devouring the feeling of being on solid ground. "I suppose we can't try that again.. With your bad sportsmanship and all." She smiled softly, teasingly.

Lin shuddered slightly when she felt the coldness of his lips on her forehead and then leaned forward, curling up in his lap. She giggled softly. "Oh that was cold!"

She was still smiling and perfectly happy. She could sense that he was still worried, but that would slowly go away over time. "You'll just have to be extra careful the next time we kiss. I don't envy you with the amount of control you'll have to keep, but I know that you can do that and have done much harder things in the past."

She then heard the water shut off in the bathroom. Athena! She had completely forgotten about her!

Lin sat up and again giggled softly. She whispered, "Oh my. I forgot about Athena being in the bathroom. We should probably go someplace else. That is, unless you have class soon."

Her eyes were full of hope, hope that he didn't have class soon.

Ialo frowned at Luna, standing above her. "If you wanted to spar, you could have asked. You don't just go around slapping the s**t out of people!" Unlike her, he actually missed being up in the air there, above the churning waters. It was his home.
"I don't think of it as bad sportsmanship," he added. "My goal is simply to disable my opponent before they disable me first." He wobbled for a moment, forgetting the cuts on his ankles until now. "I simply took you out the most efficient way I knew."

"By changing the battlefield? And you deserved the slap." She wasn't about to tell him why. She reached up for Ialo and pulled him down to sit next to her. The floors were sanitary, it wasn't like anyone ever walked through there. She momentarily turned, looking for something behind her in the cabinets. She then sat back down and gave him an apologetic look as she rolled up his pant leg.
Ouch.
She didn't know she had cut him so deep. Good thing she was an amateur spellcaster back in high school. First lesson they taught was how to, at least, soften a wound. She opened the box she retrieved from behind her where a glittery powder was seen. No one ever chose this technique because you needed to sprinkle the dust a certain way. Just repeating the all known words was way easier.
But Luna liked a challenge. She sprinkled the powder over each individual cut, giving them separated attention. Soon, the wounds filled in, and the cuts turned into small pink scars.
"They won't be visible in an hour or so," Luna whispered.

His eyes lowered. "I do."
He reluctantly stood up, still holding her hand. "Perhaps you could attend. Watch how the scarier, more menacing creatures learn."
His tone was teasing and flirtatious, but he wasn't forcing it. He loved to play with her. "That is.. if you're not afraid."

He shrugged. "Whatever works." He quietly watched Luna care for the cuts. His eyes softened, and he smiled slightly. Now he remembered why he began to like Luna in the first place. He simply enjoyed being with her, her companionship. Behind the calm gaze however, there was a certain uneasy quality about Ialo. Something had been troubling him for a long time. About five years, to be exact.
"Luna....."

Luna had turned and was already putting away the box, but her face looked at Ialo. She was still holding her box, concerned if there were further wounds that she had forgotten.
Oh, yeah. His wrists.
"Sorry, I forgot." She had the box open again, cautiously pulling his hands over her lap so that she could have full control of how she dropped the powder. She finished with the second wrist before putting the box away and turning back to him, her face expressionless.

Seeing her expressionless face, Ialo sighed. There was no way she'd listen to him, not after the way he treated her. Even though she had gone so far as to even heal his wrists, he doubted she actually cared for him at this point.
"No, Luna...." He paused, struggling for the exact words. "I'm sorry."

Her head tilted to one side, her brows pulling together. He was sorry? "For what, Ialo?"
She couldn't even fathom as to what he should be sorry for. Unless it's a trick and he's trying to insult her again, using a new means of approach. That seemed likely.

Lin sighed in great disappointment. "Well, I would be slightly nervous, but more about your class being disrupted with your students focusing on attacking an Elf. I could work through that, and somehow I don't think you'd care that much if your class was disrupted..."

Her eyes were full of mirth momentarily as she hinted at that Dymetri wasn't exactly a teacher that was conventional and didn't always keep order as he should. But then she focused again on the matter at hand.

"However, I would feel sick if I was around so many dark creatures. That much darkness in a room will make me very weak and feel sick. I know you do not believe in light and dark creatures, but my body tells me otherwise."

"For... For whatever it was that I did to anger or scare you," Ialo confessed. "For taking advantage of your trust and demeaning you." He looked down at his hands, examining them for no other reason than to not have to look up and meet Luna's eyes. He really wanted to ask her something, but she wouldn't listen if she were still angry.

Dymetri thought about it, biting the inside of his cheek as he did so. "Alright," he concluded. "Then go to sleep, it's already nighttime."
He softly pushed her down against her bed and for a small instant, he wanted to dive into her arms and be surrounded by her living warmth again. Instead, he let go of her hand and smoothed out her hair.
"I'll wake you up when my classes are finished."

Her face softened. She decided to at least spill some of her worries.. What more could happen?
"You had.. a strange look on your face before I slapped you. You looked twisted, canniving, even." Luna reached over to him, used a finger to lift up his chin. He looked so mature, so wise. Yet at the same time he looked so overworked, he'd turn into an adult too fast. No time to have fun.
She could change that..
"You reminded me of our Headmistress when we attended Mystic Fountain," she whispered.

Ialo locked gazes with Luna, but only for a moment before he looked away again. What was the expression on his face? Sorrow? Shame? Fear, even? He took a deep breath, inhaling and exhaling slowly. "I...." I. There went that damn pronoun again. The others were right, he was a vain and self-absorbed p***k, too preoccupied with his little games and toys to be paying attention to the bigger picture. He tried to start again. "I-I don't want to be like them, Luna," he finally said, his voice wavering with stress towards the end.
"But everything goes wrong..." Damn it, here he was reduced to a timid child on the floor!

Lin smiled happily at that thought. Such a good solution! She only need a few hours of sleep a night, about 3 or 4, and that time would work out perfectly for him to finish his classes!

She giggled softly, something she found herself doing a lot tonight. "A perfect idea. I don't need that many hours of sleep, and it'll seem like just a few seconds that you are away from me while I sleep. I will await your return." How he was brushing her hair lightly with his hand seemed like such a loving and sweet gesture. Probably out of the ordinary with his public persona, but blissfully normal for him to do it while he was with just her.

She then leaned up, kissed his lips quickly but softly, and then laid back down with a large smile on her face. "Good luck with your classes, Professor."
