[khaos bridge]

"Thank you sir," the captain says taking the payment from the professor. To the noble in the doorway, he reminds that they were leaving in three hours. so he still had time to run to a bank if need be.

[bridge-deck-streets-bank]

"By the cogs, you're right!" he cried! Hangover forgotten about, he rushed out of the room and out onto the deck. Running wildly, he leapt off the side of the ship, landing on the dock with a roll. It was an unnecessary gesture, but Silas liked drama.

Now on the street, he approached the nearest individual in sight and, panting, asked them where to find the bank. Once they'd pointed him in the right direction, he thanked them and sprinted back down the street. He'd left home a little less than a day ago. Hopefully, his father hadn't closed his bank account yet. "This'll teach the sly bugger!" he thought, as he arrived at the bank quite a lot later.

Taking a moment to catch his breath, he stood upright, breathed deeply, and entered the bank.

((Will require someone to play the banker, if they wish))

Nysth Kalafailrre

(main deck)

Nysth had been alert the entire time. He held the controls firm in his hand and was scanning the area around him. Entirely unfamiliar with the lang scape, he was like a small boy in a candy shop with excitement. The captains annoucement staved off all curiousity to go look around. His eye's squint to watch a passerby ship. Carefully pullling a lever at his feet the cannon slowly lowers to the ground and he jumps out. He looked around around a moment before producing his fine, silver blade. His arm shifts, the hand gears turn over and whirr lightly as a buffer is put in place on his wrist. He idly buff's the flat edge of the blade and looks around. A simple chime into the captains head piece.
"Right, so what your telling me is. We dont know where we're going?"

He hadn't heard from the captain back yet about where they were headed exactly. So it confused him a bit.

[khaos bridge]

Dan winced a bit as nysth tapped into his head again. that was blasted annyoing, and he had no idea how he did it either. Dan wasnt awre of any mechanical bits in hishead yet but its not like he could have checked.

signaling back to nysth "we are heading back to the anachronism Mr. Nysth and with possible hostiles as our cargo is a mite hot. keep sharp, not that I expect any trouble."

an hour had passed since the new arrivals had paid passage, aside from the unsteady noble. He had thought there was another youth in the passage but the boy was mostlikey looking for work, and that could wait a bit. system checks were in order.

"Ms. Alexandra, could you please find that chart on Cog Islands air currents? we shall be leaving soon." Daniel says checking the instument panels situated around the pilots chair. everything seemed in order. good reaction time in the steering, hull integrity stable, and so on through the list of safty protocol drilled into him by the air force.

Daniel called into a speaker tube down to the hold. He ordered the clanks to secure the cargo and make sure the aircraft in the Khaos' hanger was seecure. He heard Wuneye tromping around and assisting the clanks.

"caling into another of the tubes he calls, "All passengers and crew, prepare for final departure. secure any loose articles, crew report to your statinons and preform preflight checks."

[bank - street - Khaos]

The banker enquired to his name and what amount of funds he would like to withdraw. With a fiendish grin, he gave his name and a figure which made the clerk behind the counter quite nervous and the bank security quite worried. Around half an hour later, his identity was confirmed and the amount withdrawn. It wasn't enough the bankrupt his father, but more than enough to buy a medium-sized village.

He payed for a steam-powered carrier and the security men to escort his quite large chest of gold back to the ship. Throughout the streets, people stopped and stared as the guilded silver of the chest glinted in the sunlight. Luckily, the four burly men carrying rifles walking beside it was more than enough deterrent for even the daftest of criminals. Handing each of the security men a gold coin when they arrived, he moved the gold onto the deck, smiling as he did so. After much dragging, he managed to get the sizable load into his cabin and positioned it beneath his bunk. Taking a few gold pieces, he strolled up to the bridge, confidently slamming the coins down in front of the Captain.

"I suggest we get moving, Captain, as when my father discovers what I just did, he will attempt to have me killed." With that, Silas laughed, and then fainted as what he just did sank in.

[Khaos bridge]

"..." Dan stared at the nobel. he had rushed off to the bank for money and now he came back, with plenty, sounding as if he had robbed his father of an entire fortune. "You my friend must lock that cursed beverage in the gally liqueur locker. and must get Mr. Elliot's permission and my own to drink even a drop more. ARE YOU TRYING TO GET US ALL KILLED???" steam hissed out of his joints as he ranted.

Silas however, in a dead faint, does not respond. "Great going nobleman, you just had to go and get your family involved. bunch of rich powerful people after you and by accessory me. I should dump your daft rear off my ship....." he looked at the coins laid on the dashboard of the pilots cockpit. muttering curses about bad luck and honor getting in the way, he orders the clanks to carry this high born fool to his room.

seathing a bit as the clanks left, he manages to get his control back. "Hey, myles, glad to have you as our navigator if you could. we are leaveing very shortly if our friend has made the titanic mistake I think he did. My guess is he took more than his dad is going to be happy about. But he paid his blasted fare and I now am bound by my blasted honor to take him there...."

sighing, he calls into a tube "attention passengers we are about to depart. we apologize for the rush but we must be off. thank you."

turning to Myles, "please call in the station master that we are clear for launch." Dan seats himself in the pilots chair, muttering another moody comment about his gun arm not having a way to grasp properly, ah well another challenge for the day.

"Right away." Myles turns to a wireless box , turns its dial to the station master office's launch frequency.

"This is the airship Khaos to Cog Island Port Control, reporting intent and readiness to launch per filed flight plan."

"This is Port Control, Khaos, you are cleared. Bon voyage."

[Khoas cargo hold]
Wuneye finally had a job! he had been helping the metal men secure the stuff about the hold for flight. he had been especsially careful while tying down the aircraft. Looking for the next task, he noticed that the pogo man had left. Somewhere above him heard some machinery working. The hold secured he, called into the tube (albiet perhaps a bit too loudly) "Hold and Hanger secure capn'!"

Wuneye scratched his head. the metal men had moved on to the next task and had left him in the hold. he sat on his pallet wondering what he should do, as he heard the engines start to whine on the balloons.

[Kitchen]

Penelope set about tying things down and closing things inside of cupboards as soon as she heard the announcement about departing. She didn't understand why Mr Daniel sounded so annoyed, but she didn't question it either as she worked. The little teapot, which had been missing for quite some time, whistled at her as she opened a cabinet under the counter and stowed a pot. "Oh, well hello."

She took the teapot and set it on the counter, "Stay put," and resumed putting dishes in their places. With a wet cloth, Penelope cleaned around the teapot and swept everything left off of the counter.

Finished, Penelope turned to the pipe in the wall and said, "Galley secured, sir."

[cabin - deck]

For the second time today, Silas woke up in his bed. Something metal was in his hands. Lifting his head, he held it closer for inspection. A gold coin. Silas smiled to himself, finally letting out a slight chuckle. With an ecstatic jump, he was on his feet. Lucian flew down from his makeshift perch on the cupboard, landing on Silas's arm to peck at the gold, making cawing sounds in interest.

He left his cabin with Lucian and climbed the nearby stairs until he was on deck. They were detatched from the dock, hovering at the same level as before but without the ropes holding them in place. The engines' whines had woken him, but by the time he was on deck, they were roaring quite loudly as they began to ascend...

"Khaos confirms," Dan calls as he reves the turbines. the modified engines hidden int he core of the balloons roar to life and pull the ship out of the dock, and into the morning sky. Slowly the Khoas acended past the buildings and out of the shadow of the islands mammoth cog arch. the sun glinted off the metalic parts of the airship.

"Next stop, The Anachronism Flying city." the captain calls into the pa system, As the khaos picks up speed and pulls away from the island. "Alexandria, Myles, Can you please plot a course to the Anachronism. Time elapse since we left has been approxamatly 4 days 28 minutes."

checking his instruments he picked up on three craft following behind them about a mile aft and a quarter mile starboard. "lets get that course and leave our freinds behind, I cant be sure they are following us so soon, but we were warned from two sources that we may have company." taping into his some waht mysterious wireless connction between his gunner, Dan infoms Nysth that they may have company and to stay alert. The captain calls for the gunnery crew to be on standby.

(i forget who was manning which guns but hers the list: two med cannons on each balloon -one above and one below-, one large cannon just below the bowsprit[front], nysths cannon on the main deck forward, and a twin gatling reperter cannon int he aft below the captains cabin.)

Myles joins Alexandra at the navigation perch, and glances at the chart. "Well, we missed our best intercept course due to the repairs. So the return trip will now take longer because the Anachronism is moving away from us. So it'll be a good four days at least as long as we don't hit any headwinds. That's the good news. The bad news is, by the time we near land, the storm season will be in full swing over our intercept path. Which means that we're going to have to head to high altitudes to miss the storms. That's where the Anachronism will be anyway for the same reason, but between here and there, there's no stops. Over the first leg there's nothing but sea beneath us, and on the second leg there'll be nothing but storm. If anyone shows up after us, you'd better hope it happens sooner rather than later, because we could manage a water landing but the storm we came through is a summer breeze compared to the monsoon we'll be flying above."

"No doubt they're all plotting their courses and estimating times and all that..." thought Silas. "The poor fools. By jingo, look what they're mssing!"

Below him, the light of the afternoon's dimming sun bathed the metallic city in an orange glow, which glinted brightly off the thousands of windows as they rose. Thick smoke cut through the sky, producing sharp rays which struck parts of the streets below, illuminating them and the fleeting figures passing through them, while leaving the rest in the darkness of twilight. Roars of engines and propellors rang out from the various airships which passed them by. The clouds above them, mingling with the steam and smoke of city, glowed red with the evening sun.

And no one else was there to admire it, save for Lucian. Part of Silas regretted this. Another part of him was pleased that he had it all for himself. Mostly though, he was petrified of the mercenaries he kept imagining would be emerging from the next cloud.
