Oh Skizz, we started Bioshock over here. It's pretty. I'm not playing it though because it makes me motion sick, faster than average too. I am watching all the important scenes.
Whoa, really, motion sick from a game? I didn't know that could happen..
Well, you know that feeling you get when you go over a bump too fast in a car? The kinda sinking, falling feeling? I noticed that I felt that when I was replaying Okami over the last few days whenever I jumped off of something really tall, and it's not even like Okami's a realistic looking game. XD

Have you ever played Crackdown? There's a part in that game that makes all three of us feel seriously afraid of heights.
I haven't, but that sounds pretty funny.

Try jumping off of it, just for laughs. XD

Oh, and Skizz (and pretty much anyone else), I think you'll enjoy this, since you mentioned Mass Effect:

xd

I think you're one of the few people who's played my favorite games (and let me know that you have). heart heart heart heart heart heart
Well, I think that comes from listing a lot of old school RPGs on there, with an emphasis on Sega Genesis ones, which was the first system I had. XD

My friends and I actually all got Phantasy Star IV at around the same time. All playing it through on different cartriges and talking about what happened was so much fun. Except for the part where I got hit with a blackout two to three times in a row when I was just about to beat Dark Force II. stressed xd

Anti-Guild. It's an interesting name, moreso if you take it out of the context of the thread from which it got it's name. If you take the old science fiction standby instead of the political-oppositional connotation, it seems to suggest a guild that has the opposite characteristics of what would be expected of a guild, with the obvious exception that it exists as the antithesis of existence is non-existence. To quote a Superman comic "Only nothing is impossible."

So a guild, traditionally speaking, is generally a group united towards a common goal, from a common background, or united by a particular interest that has a clear hierarchy and a comprehensive if not strict set of rules.

An Anti-Guild would then be quite pluralistic, lacking in a central common origin for it's members as well as a hierarchy or set of rules. All of these quite clearly define this particular Anti-Guild, just as there is no Bizarro Batman because his parents shot him.

The original membership base was comprised of the regulars of the Anti-Sticky, and membership still skews towards users with at least a passing familiarity with the AMC forum because of that, but in the three point something years of the guild's existence, the idea of a singular mutual origin disappeared, giving way to the dynamic we now have.

Many AGers have- at various times- expressed that why they enjoy the guild is they've been helped through various troubles in their lives by their fellow AGers. One of the biggest reasons that we can succeed in this where most other guilds would fail is that we are not the blind leading the blind, a bunch of teenagers with a fistful of wisdom spread out among the lot of us. The guild is very demographically diverse, which means that there is a large body of knowledge on a large range of topics available at any given moment in the guild.

This diversity also means that there never has been nor will there ever be a singular, cohesive membership. There will always be circles within circles in AG from the perspective of social networking based on the simple fact that we all gravitate towards certain qualities and interests in others.

Thus allow me to properly explain my talking points that were laid down when things were more heated.

The continued existence of the guild is not and never was in jeopardy. What happened, and is likely still happening, is a schism between two separate factions within the AG, not a schism of the AG itself. If all the individuals directly involved in the current dispute ceased being members of the guild, the guild would go on. No single one of us is critically necessary to the continuation of the existence of the guild, but with that said there is no single one of us whose presence would not nor will not be missed if they left.

There's a lot of talk about what ought to happen to stop this from happening again, and my personal opinion is that most of it is locking the barn after the horse has been stolen.

I don't think a large scale group chat is really the right setting to accomplish change or air out problems, as it might just intimidate people or make them feel forced out into the open.

Instead, I think we would all benefit from simply making the effort to handle interpersonal issues on a case by case basis using whatever means they feel comfortable with. People have come forward and offered to listen to any concerns that their guildmates have, but these are not new offers. No one who has stated their willingness to listen to grievences and handle them in an appropriate manner has been less than open in the past.

I've seen and been a part of situations that were diffused long before they were allowed to boiled over, and in a couple cases the issues were not actually there but a mistaken perception by one party or another.

All we have to do is just talk about it the same way we talk about anything else; frankly. Dissent happens, debate happens. Don't be afraid to have your opinions challenged or perceptions altered, that's what got us into this mess in the first place.

If you disagree with me, if you don't like me, if you think I'm mean, just bloody tell me. Post it here, PM it to me, send me a postcard. If you don't want to tell me, tell Kin, Rae, Zero, Luna, Ash, or Stream. If I have a problem with you, you know I'll tell you so it's only fair that I make the same offer, which has always been on the table.

It's like they said in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; don't panic.

That's strange... occasionally I get an off-time where something won't load, but generally it's been immediate for me.

That's what happens with me too..where it shows it loads but there's a blank page instead. Or like last night when I went on a 'shopping spree' the buttons in the shop would stop working after a bit so I'd have to reload the shop.
