"I guess me having to battle here again was inevitable," the green-haired girl muttered, looking down at the Caterpie again. It glared up at her defiantly, practically daring her to send out a Pokemon of her own. "Fine, whatever," Miharu rolled her eyes as she took a PokeBall from her belt. "It's gonna be your loss." Though she'd really been wanting to do some battling with Mori, she wasn't sure it was a good idea to release the Fire Horse right now. The last thing she wanted to do was accidentally cause damage, so instead she unhooked Sparkle's PokeBall and released the Flaaffy. "Let's make this one fast, Sparkle," Miharu told her. "Tackle!"

"Flaa!" Sparkle bleated happily, not even bothering to size up her opponent before she charged forward, lowering her head as she tackled the tiny Worm Pokemon to the ground. The Flaaffy barely felt the impact, but the same couldn't be said for the Caterpie. It bounced along the ground like a squishy green ball before coming to a stop at its trainer's feet.

"...I see," the bug catcher said after taking a moment or so to remove the dumbfounded expression from his face, and he returned the fainted caterpillar to its PokeBall. "Fine, if that's how you want to play," he grumbled, throwing a second sphere to the ground, this time revealing a sleepy-looking Metapod. The cocoon lied there motionless, looking around the best it could through its half-closed eye. "Harden!" the boy shouted, and the Metapod's shell shimmered a bit in reply.

"Honestly," Miharu sighed, rolling her eyes and looking towards Sam, curious as to how her friend was faring in her battle. Her little Murkrow was full of energy and she watched intently as he dive-bombed his prey with an impressive Drill Peck.

Sasha was lost in her own thoughts by the time Kilik tried to get her attention. Had Mike really died? She couldn't imagine how painful the end he described would be, but yet he seemed only to shrug it off. Not only that, but he described it as soothing, calming. How could anyone think that? Wasn't life the most precious treasure in the world? She couldn't wrap her head around it. It was enough to drive her insane. "Agh! Cela n'a pas de sens!" she groaned. Mike had to be trying to put on an act, there was no other possibility.

But...the look in his eyes when he described his own death. Mike's eyes were usually darting around and filled with energy, especially when he had freaked out at the party. But when he spoke then, his eyes were still, focused, almost devoid of life. It was chilling. Kilik's request of a battle snapped her back to attention, and she realized she was still sitting right in the middle of the ring. "Oh, whoops." she said, getting herself up and brushing herself off. "Quoi?" she said as she looked down, noticing a familiar shell lying beside her. It was Camerae, whom Mike had placed on the ground after Blaine had given him back Proton. He must have rolled over here. she thought. Bending down and picking him up. "Viens ma chérie. We don't want you getting hit by a stray Flames'hrower." The girl walked over and climbed up the side, sitting down on the safer upper level. She sighed as she pet the Omanyte's shell in her hand. "What am I going to do with all z'his, Camerae?" she asked the Pokemon. A low gurgle echoed out of the opening and Sasha smiled.

------

"Proton!" Mike shouted again, giving his metallic Pokemon a rub as he draped himself over it like a tablecloth. "Your new form is so cool!" He walked around and inspected the Magnezone, who's eyes followed him as best they could. "You're actually connected now, so your mobility is sure to be down, but judging by the massive size upgrade I'm going to bet that you got a nice increase in power."

"You're right on that one." Blaine added. The Gym Leader wore a smile, his earlier frustration subsided at the sight of this little moment between Pokemon and trainer. "When we battled in Mt. Coronet and he evolved, there was a significant improvement in his powers. The Thunderbolt attack he used was so bright and loud, for once I'm glad for my old ears."

Mike laughed at the report. "I knew it! You never fail to impress me Proton!" he threw his arms over his Pokemon once again. "I'm not too hot for you am I buddy?"

"Maaaagne." the Pokemon droned. Mike wasn't sure if that was a yes or a no, but since Proton wasn't shaking him off or blasting him with electricity, he imagined it was fine.

"Well good." he said, giving his Pokemon another squeeze. Then, a thought occurred to him. "Wait." He lifted his head up, an almost secretly pensive look on his face, like he just found out the location of a big chest of gold in a room full of pirates and he had to leave before they all found out. The boy stood up and put his hands on Proton and pressed down. Nothing. He pushed down harder. Still nothing. He jumped into the air and slammed down with all his might. Once again, nothing, but man did that hurt. "AH! GOD THAT WAS STUPID!" he screamed.

"What are you doing, boy?" Blaine asked in both confusion and annoyance.

"A very important test!" Mike said, completely rebounded. "Like Magneton and Magnemite, Magnezone remains airborne based on their natural magnetic field and the planet's right?"

"Yes, that is true." said Blaine, wondering where the boy was going with this.

"While Magnemite and Magneton's magnetism aren't sufficient enough to maintain a substantial amount of weight..." he climbed atop of Proton and sat Indian style atop the floating Pokemon. "Magnezone's is!" He threw his arms up in the joy of discovery. The Magnezone's three eyes all looked up at the boy sitting on them, who scratched his head in thought. "Now let's see...Proton, any chance you could flip those two in front up a bit for me?" Instantly, the Magnezone tilted the two magnets so they stood at a 45 degree upward angle. Mike let out a sinister chuckle and stretched out his legs, placing his feet on the new 'pedals' before him. "Mm-hm-hm-hm-hm! Perfect!" he said evilly. "Now!" he shouted, one hand pointing outward and the other holding onto Proton's antennae. "Let's take this baby for a test drive!"

"Magnezzoone!" Proton hummed before complying. The Pokemon took off at a modest pace. Thanks to his magnetism which Mike had previously explained, the boy's weight had no impact on the Magnezone's speed.

"Hahahaha! Wheeee!" Mike cheered as Proton zipped around the arena. "This is even better than riding atop Titanium!"

Blaine couldn't help but chuckle at the boy's silly antics. "Leave it to a kid to find something that reckless out about a Pokemon right off the bat." That sure looked like fu-no, what was he saying? That was kid's stuff.

As he flew around, he noticed Kilik had released Cable. He hadn't heard the boy's previous request for a fight, but it wasn't hard for him to put two and two together. "You'd ask a boy as distraught, stressed and miserable as me for a battle? A brutish, savage activity that would do nothing but satiate my new found need for destruction and chaos?" He laughed, dropping the act. "Of course." he said with a smile, then immediately sending a convincing threatening glare at the boy. "But only because it's tradition." He laughed again, having a good deal of fun messing with the boy. "Oh Napalm!" Mike called out. "Time for a battle with an old friend!" The boy took off on Proton and flew over to the other side of the arena. "Yeah, I think I'll stay on him for this fight." he said to himself.

"Magneeee." Proton said with a metallic hum. Though his robotic face was flat and emotionless, the Pokemon was very pleased to be back with his trainer.

From beneath the molten waves, the Magmar heard Mike call his name. Napalm stood up, quickly and bid farewell to his Magmortar friend, and shot up to the surface. Napalm emerged from the magma like a missile, landing gracefully before his trainer. He only had a moment to take in Proton's new form before Mike's gaze directed him to what was behind him. The Magmar turned to see none other than Cable. He was in a different form but there was no mistaking it. "Maaaag." the Pokemon uttered like a low growl. Surely this was what Mike was talking about: a rematch with Cable to test their new forms. Sounded like a good plan to him. With his eyes never leaving his opponent's, the Magmar got into his readied stance. His heart began to race with anticipation. What new tricks did Cable have up his sleeve with that new form? One thing was for sure, he was going to enjoy pushing his limits once again, especially in a match verses his rival.

Blaine sighed and made his way to the upper level, standing beside Sasha. "I don't think I will ever understand that boy."

"You and me both, monsieur." Sasha said with a raise of her eyebrows.

Mike waited until everyone had left the arena before locking eyes with Kilik. He wore a sinister smile. "Your move." he said with a curt laugh.

Of course, Miss Mitsu. Portabello said with a nod of his head. I am always willing to assist you, not only for Master's wishes, but my own as well. Portabello had a great deal of affection for the purple haired girl. She and Master had spent a long time together, and grown very close. It brought great joy to the Pokemon's heart to see her here. Master, I knew your friends would not give up on you, nor will I.

It was then that Kasiya returned with Keegan. Miss Kasiya! the Breloom said. And Sir Keegan. It is a pleasure to see you here. I trust you have had a chance to speak with my Master? He was very intent on speaking to all of you personally. He listened intently as Keegan explained what was going on. So Sir Kilik is here as well... pondered Portabello. What could Master be planning that would require all of you? Did he plan for you all to come see him? No, he couldn't...not in his state of mind at least... He looked up at the humans. I am certain that you will be most useful in whatever Master has in store, Sir Keegan. You should not be so down on yourself. The Pokemon nodded, then looked at Mitsu, then Kasiya. He was charged on looking after them, so he would follow them should they decide to leave the room.

It seemed quite natural, walking along the grassy route with a Pokemon by his side, and once again his mind began to wander, thinking of all the various possibilities of who he was and what he was like before all this had happened. He wondered if he had any friends and if anyone missed him, what his parents and family like. More importantly, he still very much wanted to know what his name was, though the more he tried to remember it, the more his mind seemed to blank out on him. Turtwig strolled along at his side, occasionally looking up at the boy with worried eyes. He seemed to be thinking hard about something, and every now and then he'd start talking to himself. The Tiny Leaf Pokemon blinked and looked away. Maybe being partnered up with this human wasn't such a good idea. After all, he seemed more than a little distracted, and he hadn't even introduced himself yet. Turtwig frowned and looked at the ground as he walked. What if this boy was crazy, or seriously disturbed? He didn't want to be lumped together with someone like that. The Grass-type's thoughts were interrupted when he realized the boy was no longer walking, and he stopped as well, turning back to look at the tall, blonde-haired boy with a quizzical expression. "Twig?" he inquired.

"Turtwig..." the boy started, but stopped. He was staring at his sandal-clad feet, his hair hanging down over his face. The turtle Pokemon plodded over to the human and sat down by his side, looking up at him expectantly. The boy sighed and flopped down on the ground, crossing his legs so that he could rest his elbows on his knees, chin in his hands. "I hate all this," he said finally, causing Turtwig to jump back, looking somewhat offended. "Oh, no, not you, Buddy," the boy said quickly. "I meant my situation. I hate not knowing anything about myself. I hate not knowing my name, or where I came from, or what I was doing before all of this. I just... hate it." Another shaky sigh escaped his lips and he closed his eyes, his body trembling a bit.

The two little leaves atop Turtwig's head drooped a little upon hearing this, and he hung his head as well. No wonder the human was acting so strange. "Tur," he said sternly, nodding once before climbing up in the boy's lap and lying down. "Twig, turtwig. Twiiig," he said reassuringly. He didn't know how he'd be able to help exactly, but right then and there he'd made up his mind to stay by this boy's side and help and protect him, whether they were able to recover his memories or not. "Twig!"

“Pidgeo!” The second member of Cyan’s party crowed, sparing a glance at Amy. It was really awkward. The pidgeotto’d never met any of these pokemon before. All he was sure of was that they were all weaker than him. Slower too, but that went without saying. Then again, he’d caught wind that this girl wasn’t shooting for the pokemon league, so perhaps it didn’t matter. He looked her up and down, sizing her up, before shooting a glance back at his trainer. “Pidgeo?”

“She’s cool. Amy, that’s my Pidgeotto. His name’s Jet. He’s not really a people person though…” Understatement of the year, Cyan muttered in her head. The calculating douche...

Jet’s eyes scanned the group of pokemon before him. The Chikorita? Child’s play. The brown haired girl was far too pliant to be a threat to Cyan. Next, he directed his sharp gaze over to the Cyndaquil. A mouse was hardly a threat to a bird of prey. Then again, training meant everything. That red haired boy could be the difference between-

“A pidgey-what?” said Scarlet, staring blankly at the oddly tall and lean pidgey in front of him.

Okay, the red haired boy was an idiot. With as smug an expression as something with a beak could make, Jet shut his eyes and fluttered back to the side of his trainer.

Cindy was mortified. She buried her little face into her little paws, wishing that maybe Cyan or Amy’d picked her up. No. Cyan. That way Scarlet would have his stupid Totodile and Flora could stay with someone competent. No, Cindy thought with a sigh. That’s mean. Scarlet’s just a moron.

"Well, he looks nice and big and strong," Amy smiled, though she didn't offer her hand or anything to Jet. She was pretty sure he didn't like her, but she offered him her best smile nonetheless. Adjusting her glasses once more, the girl glanced up towards the sky, frowning thoughtfully. "I should be going... there's a Pokemon around here that I wanted to get, but it'd be best to catch one before dark..."

Flora knew when they had to go. She cheerfully nudged Cindy, her way of an affectionate goodbye, and did the same for Vector. The brave little Chikorita trotted up to Jet, smiling and chirruping a bright "Chiko!" as both a greeting and goodbye.

Devlin, having now got the hang of his special move, hit the Pineco perfectly, then bouncing off the spiky Pokemon, falling to the ground, though flapping his wings happily. The Pineco didn't react really, other then sitting dazed for a moment. Sam wasn't sure if Devlin had even caused damage to the Pineco. The Pokemon reminded her vaguely of a cross between a Shuckle and a Slowpoke. 'Or maybe a Rhyhorn...' she thought to herself. She glanced over to Miharu to see how she was faring, and saw her Flaafy had made quick work of the Caterpie. Too easy... She stopped her mind from wandering when the other Trainer called out her order.

"Oh wow that was fast! I wasn't expecting that! Hurry Pineco, use Rapid Spin!" The Pineco suddenly displayed some agility, gliding towards Devlin, who wasn't expecting an attack before he got into the air once more. The Pineco spun very quickly, it's sharp body ramming into Devlin, who fell back. Devlin didn't seem particularly injured, but then again, neither did the Pineco. Sam watched as Devlin took the sky, his confidence waning. The Pineco seemed fearless!

"It's okay, Devlin! All you gotta do is keep drilling him, he can't reach you from the sky right? This time, Drill Peck, but pull away quickly okay?" Devlin bit his tongue, a bit nervous, but then he complied, his beak glowing blue once. He began spinning as he dove towards his opponent.

"Pineco, Protect!"

'Crap' was all Sam had time to think before Devlin hit the shining barrier that enveloped the Pineco. Devlin bounced off harmlessly, before landing on the ground, rubbing his beak with his wings. Apparently he had bruised it smashing into the solid wall of energy.

"Yay Pineco! Now use Tackle!" The Pineco hopped forward, and slammed in Devlin's tiny body. Sam gritted her teeth. Her little one was being pounded out there! She again reached for Miles' Pokeball, but shook her head. She had seen Miharu's Pokemon take out the Caterpie. Though Devlin was getting stronger, Sam was worried that Miles and Star would become so favored that any other Pokemon she caught wouldn't be able to catch up. What would happen then if she ran into trouble, if Star and Miles got lost, or they fainted? She shook her head. She had to keep Devlin in this battle. Besides, he could easily win with his type advantage and excellent moves. Now how to use them....

"Devlin, you okay?" He crowed enthusiastically, showing that he was still ready to go. She smiled, then pointed to the Pineco. "Okee dokee! Use Fly!" Devlin thought about it for a moment. He had never tried that move before...He leaped into the air uncertainly just as Sam heard,

"Protect! Oh wait- No!" It was too late. The Pineco had thrown up a bright shimmering barrier. But now, it would be pushing its luck to protect itself from Devlin's Fly. Devlin had flown to the top of the Gym, looking like a little speck. Now he dove, folding his wings in tight, and straightening his body. But he panicked as he neared the ground. What if he missed? What if he hurt himself? What if he smashed into the ground and never woke up? Just before he hit the ground, he yanked his wings out, and tumbled to the side of the Pineco. Devlin rolled over a few times before coming to a rest. Sam couldn't help feeling a little disappointed, but she guessed she understood. The bird had been afraid of everything since he had hatched, it only made sense he was afraid of hurtling towards the hard, unforgiving ground at breakneck speed. Sam could almost hear the other Trainer breath a sigh of relief.

"Pineco, Tackle once more!"

Jet nodded to Flora. After all, just because he was more awesome than her didn’t mean that he shouldn’t be civil. “Pidgeo!” he crowed, wishing her good luck with her contests.

“We should be heading off too,” Cyan said quietly, apparently a little embarrassed. “Me and Vector kind of forgot to get a pokedex before we left! We’ve been running around guessing types and stuff, and it’s not so fun when you sic a flying type on a Sudowoodo!”

Jet rolled his eyes at that one. With a few beats of his wings, he took off for New Bark Town. Vector waved a cheerful goodbye at Scarlet and Amy, patted Flora on the leaf, then yanked down his lower eyelids and stuck out his tongue at Cindy, all before running off after his buddy.

“Good luck, Amy! I’m sure Scarlet’ll come to aaaaaall your contests if you ask! As for you, Mister ‘I have a girl’s name,’ I’m gonna be the next pokemon league champion! So you’d might as well quit now!”

“Buzz off, Cyanide! Victory belongs to US!” Scarlet yelled, dramatically aiming the tip of his index finger at his rival. “Even if you beat us to the top, we’ll just blast you off the tip of the pyramid! Right, Cindy!?”

“QUIL!” she yelled, shaking a paw at the fleeing Vector. No way in hell was she gonna get showed up by a lizard.

And with that little exchange, Cyan booked it toward New Bark, intent on annoying a pokedex out of Professor Elm.

“Well, Amy. I guess I’ll see you around. Me and Cindy have some Bellsprout to shoot fire at! I hope you find the pokemon you’re lookin’ for.” So, with a cheerful wave and a giggling pyromaniac on his tail, Scarlet headed off toward Violet Town where, if the rumors were true, he’d be getting his paws on a valuable ally.

"I'm sure you'll have no problem getting one, Cyan!" Amy called as the other girl headed off. Then she turned to the leaving Scarlet. "Thank you! Good luck!" She smiled, rooted in place for a moment, before she looked to Flora. "We should be getting to Violet Town, so we can double check at the PokeCenter that the Pokemon is near here... also, I'm betting you're pretty hungry."

"Chiko," Flora replied simply, nodding once. She knew Amy shared the feeling; those two were exactly the same. "Chikorita!" The Leaf Pokemon began to hop towards the nearby town happily, leaf spinning, a spring in every step.

"Haha, all right," the girl replied, hurrying after her Pokemon. Thankfully, they weren't that far from the entrance, so she happily headed along, trying her best (and failing miserably) to whistle a cheery tune.

"You can pay money to change your pokemon's ability?" Robin was a bit confused on that, it still sounded pretty cool. She didn't really know if she would ever do it but hey maybe she could watch them do it once.

"What? No you can't change abilities on pokemon. No people spend a lot of money breeding Ambipoms so that they can have the Technician ability. Anyway, your Ambipom over there is pretty tough, he really just needs to refine his fighting style. So what can you tell me about your Jumpluff?"

Robin grinned as she listened to him compliment Luffy. Shifting sides on Black*Star, Robin carefully started stretching him some more. Black*Star was feeling a lot better as his trainer pulled and stretched his sore muscles. Those absorbs had really hurt his insides rather then breaking anything or something.

What all did Robin know about Brook? "Ah, Brook doesn't have a lot of attacks, well damaging attacks at least. Ah, he is pretty fast to! Um... Thats it."

"Thats it girl!" The girl didn't know really anything about her pokemon and it was really bugging him. Unable to hold her punishment off anymore Tony's fist was connecting to Robin's face once more sending her back a few feet. "Girl if you expect to be a good trainer and even a good friend you need to know about your pokemon. The more you know about them then the less of a chance that they will get hurt."

Getting up from her place on the floor Robin stared at Tony with wide eyes. Was her not knowing about her pokemon getting them hurt? She didn't want to see her pokemon get hurt because of her. " Really Master? Am I really hurting my pokemon?"

Looking down at the girl Tony sighed as he saw her sad face. "Yes and no. Your pokemon and you have a lot of potential. What you are doing is hurting their dreams, your not knowing is holding them back from accomplishing them. It is a trainers job to know about their pokemon and train them correctly so that they can accomplish their dreams."

"Oh." Robin muttered as she looked down feeling pretty down on herself. She was harming her pokemons dreams by not knowing about them? She had always trusted her pokemon to do their jobs, they always did theirs but she wasn't doing her job. That wasn't fair to demand they do their job but not do her job as a trainer. "I'm sorry. I have been letting them down. They all do their job amazingly and it seems like I am not doing mine. Master?"

"Hm?"

"Will you teach me to do my job as a trainer since I haven't been able to figure it out myself?"

Grinning down at his student Tony held out a hand to her. "Thats what I am here for!"

Looking up at Tony, Robin turned her megawatt smile on him and grabbed his hand and allowed him to pull her up. "Thank you Master!"

It wasn't long before the two reached the very nice little city, and Amy admired it all, especially the Sprout Tower. "Look at it, Flora!" she cried, pointing. "It's just so... big... and neat..." Thankfully, the PokeCenter was right near the entrance, and so the two entered, grateful for the blast of cool air. "Do you wanna get healed up?"

Flora pondered this. She hadn't been battling much, but it had been a long way since Cherrygrove. If they were intent on getting a new friend, she'd have to be her best! "Riii," the Grass-type cooed, skipping over to the counter.

"Just one, please," Amy told Nurse Joy with a smile as she recalled Flora. "May I use the computer?" After a quick affirmation, the girl strolled over to the nearest computer. She immediately opened up a window for a certain Pokemon, scrolling through the locations. "Route 32... night time?" She checked out the window. The sun was beginning to set; she didn't have to worry at all. "All right..." Amy flicked off the computer and collected her refreshed Chikorita.

The two continued into the cafeteria, Amy happily collecting a bottle of water and an apple and some food for Flora. They sat closest to the windows, eating in a thoughtful silence. Finally, Amy spoke. "I hope we find a good friend." It was all she said, all that was said for the remainder of their 'dinner', but after saying that, a small smile was present on the girl's face.

Flora was severely doubting that they would capture a Pokemon that loathes them both. She munched happily on her food, smiling some. They would practice their moves together! It'd be fun and they could team up for some contests! On that happy thought, the Leaf Pokemon finished the very last bite and let out a very contented "Chiko!"

The two had long since continued after dinner, a nice, warm breeze carressing them every once and a while as they strolled under the stars and the moon. "It sure is pretty out, huh?" Amy asked as they passed the very large gym. Maybe Scarlet's battling Falkner now... but didn't he say something about ally? she thought with a small smile, before the two reached another dirt path, surrounded by trees. Route 32.

They happily strolled down the path, seeing patches of grass in the distance. Amy grew more excited with each step, happy to catch her friend. Finally, they reached a more open area, where wild Pokemon began to pop in and out of sight.

"Chiko," Flora chirped, hopping eagerly into the grass. "Chikorita!"

"What?" Amy asked, blinking. But all that she saw was rustling grass as her Pokemon deserted her. "...W-wait up!" She charged after Flora, ignoring the occassional Rattata that chattered at her as she disturbed them. "Sorry!"

Finally, Flora paused in a more open place. There seemed to be the sound of water running nearby. "Chiko! Chiko!" she cried, circling around. And then Amy saw it.

A Mareep hopped happily into sight, letting out a gentle "Reep!" The Pokemon hopped forward, staring at Amy and Flora as she tilted her head. "Maree--"

"WOOPAH."

The Mareep was suddenly bombarded with some blurring brown object. She let out another cry and fled into the grass.

"Woop!" the Wooper cheered, having covered itself in mud. It bounced about happily, an astonishingly blank look on its face. "Woopah!"

"There it is, Flora!" Amy cheered, pointing happily at the dancing Pokemon. "That's it! We're gonna catch a Woope--"

"Woop!" And it ran away, cheering happily into the night, head swinging back and forth with such force that one would worry about its brain and the possibility of a concussion.

"...Okay, so we're gonna find another one."
PostPosted: Fri Jul 23, 2010 6:54 pm

The two spent a lot of time looking for a single Wooper. Like, a lot of time. Amy was growing discouraged, but she, for some unknown reason, really wanted a Wooper. It was almost frustrating, but every time they almost gave up hope, there was the familiar call of the Water Fish Pokemon.

"Woop."

"See, Flora? We can't give up hope!"

Flora was fairly sure that by this time, the Woopers were purposely messing with the two. This made her a little mad, understandably. "Chikorita!" I, Flora the Chikorita, challenge the Wooper to a battle!

There was no response, save for a large Wooper emerging from the grass.

"All right, Flora," Amy said, remembering that they actually had to fight. "U-um... Razor Leaf!" She, of course, forgot the Wooper's added Ground type, and realized this a moment too late. "No, wait!"

"Chiko!" Flora cried, sending a flurry of leaves toward the Wooper. "Chiko!" I'm sorry!

The Wooper remained standing after a moment, but it let out a "Woo..." and collapsed.

"..." Amy nearly cried. She'd have to bring the poor thing back to the PokeCenter, but then Dex kindly informed her of the Wooper's poisonous film. "I-I'm so sorry..." she murmured, still continuing over to the Wooper.

Almost instantly did three smaller Woopers scuttle from the grass, and after chattering at Flora for a moment, they glanced at Amy and rolled their fallen brother off. Then another emerged, the same Wooper that had viciously attacked the Mareep earlier. It still donned the mud and smiled happily at the two. "Woopah?"

"All right..." Amy said, nodding lightly. She stared the Wooper right in the eye and clenched her jaw, stepping forward. "Right! Wild Wooper, we challenge you to a battle!"

"...Woopah?"

Amy had to keep telling herself that they would not knock out this thing. They would make it a friend and love it and they would all be happy. That's exactly what she told herself. "All right, Flora! Tackle!"

Flora was seemingly unconcerned with the battle. Mainly because she was thinking about the types of moves they could do together in contests. Or if this Pokemon was nice. But without hesitation, the Chikorita charged forward, dodging the steady stream of water and ramming directly into the Wooper.

"Woopah!" Wooper cried, tumbling back. He let out another Water Gun at the attacker angrily.

The Water Gun hit, but it didn't do much but wash off the mud that had gotten on her during that last Tackle. She let out an indignant "Chiko!" and awaited her next command.

"U-uh, try Tackle again!"

Wooper happily dodged Flora's incoming charge and slapped its tail right into her face, letting out a cheerful "Woop!"

"Uhh... Oh!" Amy cried, abruptly enlightened. "I know what to do! Go, Poisonpowder! Like before!"

Flora let out another happy cheer and leapt into the air right above the Wooper. Her leaf glowed the same shade of purple as she spun and flipped, sprinkling the dust over the unsuspecting Wooper.

"W-woop...?" Wooper asked, swaying.

"One more Tackle, Flora! Make it your own!" It was as if she was in a contest now, practicing her grace and beauty in the heat of battle.

"Chikoo!" Flora did make it her own as she flipped once more, beginning her descent. The tips of her back legs could scratch the ground, and that was all she needed. She kicked off, ramming the Wooper right into the air.

"Go!"

The Wooper flew straight into Amy's tossed Pokeball, letting out one last disoriented "Woop?" before it was enclosed.

"Yes," Amy hissed, watching the sphere rock side to side. With one final wobble, there was a decisive ding! that let her know that she was now the proud owner of a Wooper.

Watching Mike fly around on his Magnezone brought a light smile to his face. Despite the absolute insanity that was boiling deep down and had finally come through to the surface, he was still...in a way, he was still Mike. He threw an arm up to shield himself from the intense heat of the lava as Magmar appeared on the battle field. He'd been waiting deep beneath the surface of the magma, for any command Mike would have issued. Incredible, he thought, straightening up. His eyes wandered to Blaine and Sasha as they left, with the others, leaving the two boys down below on the Gym floor, surrounded by rocks and boiling lava. Perhaps it's best they left, he laughed quietly to himself, No telling what could happen with this battle.

Cable's entire body began to shake, sparks scattering along the Gym floor. His eyes met with Napalm's and a smirk appeared on his lips. He could feel that his rival had become stronger, and that their power was completely even. He growled to himself and clenched his fists tightly. A sound like thunder began to rumble through the floor. "Eleee....." he growled, lightning pulsing off of him. Another battle with Napalm, his first since he'd evolved...He looked over his shoulder at Kilik.

"Mike gave us the go," he said with a shrug. "So let's get this party started!" Kilik swung his arm into the air, palm opened. "Attack with your new Discharge attack!" He closed his fist and threw it forward. Cable's body began to shake as electricity coursed through his entire body and focused into his fists.

"Eleeeee..." he clapped his palms together and pulled them apart slowly, a ball of lightning forming between them. His eyes were still locked with Napalm's, his smirk growing even wider. "Eeeelll...eeeee....!!" The sphere began to grow, thunder cracking around him. "BUUUUUUUU!!!" He threw the sphere forward and it exploded into hundreds of bolts of lightning, all charging for their target.

"A few times?" he said, tilting his head, "Then why go through another? However! I shall protect you at any cost! And you as well, Carlos!" he pointed to the boy in the sombrero. He noticed Train unleash all of her Pokemon, and that Carlos had been accompanied by all of his. Feeling a bit out of place, he took the remaining four Pokeballs from his belt and juggled them absentmindedly.

"This is my partner, Banette," he explained to the girl, "he's really good at scaring people! And he's strong too. And these are my other Pokemon!" he opened one ball at a time. "Murkrow! Shuckle! Sharpedo! Shiftry! They're all pretty strong," he said shrugging and hopping off the table to land on the floor. Murkrow perched itself on his shoulder and Shuckle slipped into his shell, shy and embarrassed of all the people around. Sharpedo looked at Growlithe, licking his jowls before feeling Maz punch him in the head slightly. Shiftry hopped up to the highest point in the cafeteria and watched everyone below.

"They're pretty cool, I guess. I mean, it's whateva." Again the boy shrugged.

"So," Amy began, staring at the now healthy Wooper. The three had trekked back to the PokeCenter and now they resided in a small area right beside it, perfect for introductions and training. "I'm Amy! And this is Flora!"

"Chiko!" Flora chimed in, translating. She smiled and patted the Wooper on the head.

"Dex says you're a male..." Amy said thoughtfully, trying to think of a good nickname. "Oh! I'll call you Marshall, because you remind of a marsh! Which is a good thing, because they're really neat and interesting. Like I'm sure you are!"

"Woop," Marshall replied blankly, sitting down. He stared up at Amy with wide eyes, and finally, he smiled. "Woopah."

"...R-right!" Amy opened up Dex again, aiming at the Wooper. "Level 8... three moves... all right! Marshall! I want you to try using Water Gun and Mud Sport!"
Amy was honestly expecting the Water Fish to use the Water Gun on a patch of dirt and flip and spin to coat himself in mud.

In actuality, Marshall blasted the patch of dirt, let out a happy "Woop!", and stumbled into the mud.

"..." Amy blinked, opened her mouth, and closed it. "...Practice makes perfect! Flora didn't quite get it at first, either!"

What an absolute lie, Flora thought, pouting some. She was a contest natural, and she and Amy had the same way of thinking. It was an easy friendship forged. "Chiko!" she cried, informing Marshall that he can stop.

"I just wanted to test that out before we went to bed," Amy smiled, adjusting her glasses. "I looked up the date, and the contest in Cerulean is on the 4th. Which means that we need to spend tomorrow getting all the way to Goldenrod... and then get on the train..." She sighed some, before fully explaining things out, just for the benefit of them all. "We're going to wake up early, get to Goldenrod, take the train to Saffron in Kanto. Then, we're gonna take the simple route up to Cerulean. That shouldn't be too hard!" Now that she explained everything fully, it really did sound tiring. But she had to be tough, and she had to get Flora up some more levels before they got to the contest.

That'd be awful, Amy thought worriedly, looking at her feet. Getting all the way there, just to learn that we couldn't compete...? She would cry. If that happened, Amethyst Maple would cry. B-but.. if that happens, at least we're in Kanto. It's still in contest season there!

"All right," she said lightly to her Pokemon, breaking them out of their own thoughts. "We're gonna go to sleep now! Rest up, because we have a long way ahead of us tomorrow." The two followed Amy silently into the PokeCenter, where she lead them down the hall to the room she rented. She twisted the key, walking in. "It's so nice..."

By the time Amy had finished showering and cleaning up and preparing her clothes for tomorrow, Flora and Marshall were deep asleep on the floor. The girl smiled and settled into the comfy bed. "Night..."
