((Nadil: How long until someone finds her?))

Reyn stiffened slightly as the blade slid past the backs of his knees, whirling around as it passed (any sooner and he might get some real harm inflicted upon him) and cutting out in a wide arc as he did so, thrusting his sword forward as it reached where she was kneeling.

((Kami: XD;; Micoi? And do you mean someone from the staff?))

Whirling up into a standing position and around, she brough her sword to meet his, blade tip pointing at the ground. She had done that with only one hand... How many years of training was she hiding under those layers of cloth anyway?

"Are you sure you're giving me all, darling?" she teased, chuckling, before pushing away and breaking the blade-against-blade lock she had placed their weapons in. Stepping backwards as she spinned a whole turn yet again, she brough her sword up to have her handle facing the earth again, smiling. It almost looked like she rather was dancing than fighting.

"You remember," Aiketh looked markedly more uncomfortable now, and she stepped forward again, placing her copy of Kushina's report on the edge of a small table that had not been knocked over in the fighting as she continued to speak. "How the fighting was shortly before the attack you were wounded in?"

There had been, of course, several times Jett had been scratched up in fighting the demon forces. There was only one time he had been seriously injured, however. There were still a few rumors floating around that he had been cursed during that experience, though most of them had died out.

Only two people knew what really happened in that terrible battle, Jett and Youkai Lady. He had kept the curse quiet, as he didn't know what its effects were going to be. Though now, Jett wondered if it was starting to take effect.
"...Yes... I do remember. Continue."

Reyn was breathing slightly harder, though he was by no means tired out yet. Gritting his teeth again, he launched himself at Micoi, lashing out offensively while trying to keep part of his mind open to remember to parry and block... trying.

"The number of attacks increased at an exponential rate in the months leading up to the last few battles," Aiketh elaborated shortly to ensure that all three of them were thinking of the same thing.

One month there had been two reported attacks for the whole of Dusis, the next month four, the next sixteen... The attacks had been at first mostly 'hit and run', with a quick blitz-style slash and burn and then the speedy disappearance of the demons involved. Even from the start it had been obvious that they were connected and orginized. As the number of attacks increased, however, so did the length of time the forces remained on Dusis. They had become steadily more disciplined and deadly even as they became more frequent.

"Kushina's report seems to show this same pattern. Not only have the demon forces been acting more boldly than they have in recent times, they appear to be employing the same tactics."

The young woman avoided the attack with another smooth half-parry half side stepping motion, giving the whole thing the feel of that she was just toying with him. Humming a short tune, Micoi parried yet another blow and avoided another completely in favor for sending the other stumbling as she came around in a spin to face his back again. It was almost like a fight between the captain and one of the fighters...

With a low annoyed growl, Reyn leaped at Micoi again, becoming increasingly frustrated at his inability to strike her. He was becoming more focused on getting a hit, unintentionally letting his guard down.

"...Oh." Standing at a window on one of the upper floors of the castle, Ana paused, one hand still on the thick curtains she had been in the middle of cleaning. Cocking her head to one side, she watched as a rather unusual fight took place in front of the Dragon Fighters' Guild. Was that really the Dragon Lord's fiance?

"What are you looking at?"

Ana jumped, whirling around with a bright pink blush on her cheeks as Neith came up behind her.

"Well?" Neith shook her head, shifting the large basket of laundry she was carrying onto her hip.

Shooting a glance to the side, Ana spoke in a slightly shaking voice. Oh, she just had to be caught pausing in her duties!

"I... um... I was just noticing that in the Fighters' HQ..." Ana gestured limply out the window.

Craning her neck around the maid, Neith stared for a moment, her eyes widening. "Oh, for..." Making a tsking noise and giving a tight shake of her head, she set the basket of laundry down on the marble floor.

"Finish those curtains, honey, then take this to be washed. Thank you." Sending another fast glance out the window, Neith swept quickly off, her footsteps ringing sharply in the hallway.

Yes, there was a really nice opening. These boys really needed more practice, the queen-to-be mused as the fighter came at her faster and harder than before. Smirking, Micoi gathered her powers and swept up her sword in a wide arch, starting with the tip touching the ground. It was time to finish this fun little game, sad but true.
The sound of steel forcefully hitting steel rang in the air as the girl met the attack with an attack of her own, not a parry. A sword went flying through the atmosphere and hit the ground with a loud "thud". Not side stepping Reyn, Micoi instead caught the fighter which ent them both to the ground with him on top. Smirking up at the man, she positioned her sword at his neck, signalling that if she wished to she could cut off his head.
"Touche, finished," she said triumphantly and hardly out of breath.

Reyn was silent for a moment, light brown eyes wide and quickly narrowing. Most of the Fighters had stopped practicing by this time to watch the fight, and there were catcalls and laughs at the unexpected outcome. Some money exchanged hands. Seeing that the general atmosphere would not react kindly to any sore-losing on his part. Reyn forced first a smile, then a laugh.

Reyn stood and, though he declined to offer Micoi a hand up, his smile did become more relaxed and real. It was pretty funny, after all, and he had been kind of asking for it.

And if he had offered it, she would have declined it. It wasn't necessary. Smiling brightly, she put the tip of the sword forcefully down into the sand on the ground, making the well-balanced weapon stand erect like an old clock that showed the time with the help of the sun.
"That was good, really fun actually. I have to give it to you though, usually I never need to fight without killing so it was pretty hard at times to not make such a move on you that put you in danger," her smile turned slightly sheepish as she confessed.

(("the well-balanced weapon stand erect like an old clock"... Guess what I misread that as! XDD;;; ))

Reyn grimaced slightly as he glanced away. Great, just what his ego needed to hear... Time to change the subject.

"Yeah, uh, good job. You're much better than you look, I have to say. Where'd you learn to fight in a dress like that?"

Micoi blinked large eyes once, surprised and then she rubbed the back of her head, embarrassed. "Well... you see..." Then she laughed, standing straight again. "Since I've never really worn anything like this in my whole life, excluding yesterday and today... I teleported it back to my room," she confessed, smiling. "So I'm not really wearing anything and what you actually see here is a very powerful illusion, one that you even can touch so it's like I'm still wearing the dress. You see, usually I wear something much shorter but about as tight-fitted as your uniforms so..."
PostPosted: Tue Jan 30, 2007 11:44 pm

"Um..." Reyn grinned nervously. "Oh. Well, hey, that's the best illusion I've seen in, well, ever." He was trying very hard not to stare at her chest in the hopes that the spell would flicker out for a second.

He gave up. Hey, you only live once.

"Reyn, get your eyes off of the Dragon Queen."

Neith ignored the startled murmuring this sharp comment sparked as she walked through the parting mass of Dragon Fighters, having already entered the practice ring. "My lady," she stepped at an angle between Micoi and the reddening Dragon Fighter, "I was going to talk to you about sparring in that dress, but..." her lips twitched up into a wry smile and it was clear that she was trying to keep up the pretense of being upset or at least annoyed. "...But now that I know that you are in no danger of harming it... Next time, honey, tell me if you need a change of clothes. Not all of what we have here are gowns and dresses. Either put your clothes back on or come with me. I'm sure I can find something that will allow you to have a little more freedom of movement without attracting stares."

The head maid managed to hold back her laughter by turning back to Reyn. "And you. You know you're already in trouble for your... behavior. Do you really want me to tell your commanding officer about your antics today?"

Micoi was about to answer Reyn when Neith's voice was heard above the noise of the fighters, the queen-to-be could feel the sweat starting to form and a "s**t!" could be seen on her face. As the head Maid cam up between her and the other dragon she blushed slightly, laughing embarassed. "Well, I..." Rubbing the back of her head, Micoi smiled widely, relaxing as she saw the older woman's mouth twitch.

"Oh, come on, Neith! We were only having a little fight for fun. No harm done!" Was this girl oblivious to the eyes that had stared at her not too long ago?

Neith gave a small amused sigh. That girl...

"No, no harm done. Thank you for not injuring him, apart from his pride. He may be a complete..." she let this thought trail off, much to the relief of the sweating Fighter behind her. "But he is needed on report and scouting missions." Neith glanced around at the still eagerly watching Dragon Fighters and forced herself not to roll her eyes. "Honey, come. They need to get back to work and you're a bit of a distraction right now."

"I am? Well... then it's good that they can't see through it like Kanak can, I guess..." she trailed off, as if unsure about it.

((XDD;; Sujikaaa! Where are youuu? We neeeed you for Baran and Celia to catch up.))
