As soon as Norman heard Keegan call for an overheat he called out swiftly for his own Pokemon to attack, it was risky relying on calling an attack right after his opponent did but working around his Pokemon truant ability has lead to some creative solutions. "Slaking use Facade!" The large Pokemon got up and charged towards the flaming wave of heat its huge bulk moving faster then it should considering it's size.

On the sidelines Dante watched the two Pokemon unleash their power against each other. This was going to be an impressive display, or it would be if he could see through the flames, that were destroying the gym. When the flames died down it took him a moment to take in what he was seeing. When it finally registered he completely lost it. It was the funniest thing he had ever seen. Keegan's Arcanine was standing there completely unharmed in a charred circle of Normans once perfectly clean and scratch-less wood floor. About ten feet away was Normans own Pokemon lazing around on the ground not looking any worse for wear.

"You missed!" Dante managed to wheeze through his howls of laughter. He probably didn't even notice as he fell off the bench the Pokemon that were resting on his lap taking the spill with him. "How- how the hell did you miss?" This was the funniest thing he had ever seen.

Norman himself had never seen anything like this. He just scratched his head in confusion before shrugging it off and waiting for his opponent to respond, since Slaking didn't look like she wanted to move at all.

~~~~~~
Heading off to one of the many parks in the city Robin released the rest of her Pokemon giving them a big toothy grin. "Hey guys! Long time no see, it seems like forever yeah?" The five of them looked up at her ready to get on with whatever it was they were doing. "Ok, so guys it's time to start training, a lot of us are behind in our training, and we have a new member. So I figure we can just really get into some good shape so we can take on the next gym leader." Pumping her fist into the air unable to contain her own excitement at this. Raz just looked like he was going to go along with it, Black*Star was pumped up and almost as excited as Robin, Ace and Zuko both just looked kinda bored/hiding interest, Slowpoke was well, he just kinda stared kinda blankly at Robin.
"Right! Ok, so Ace, Black*Star, Zuko we are going on a run! Raz and Slowpoke, well Raz you will be way to fast for us so you are going to help Slowpoke out since he can't keep up with us. So you two work on your evasion and accuracy for a bit until we come back, that ok?" All of her team nodded and she jumped up in excitement. "All right then! You three let's go!" Waving them to follow her she took off Ace and Black*Star running at her side while Zuko scuttled behind them.
The redhead felt an undeniable twitch in his left eye as the proverbial and literal smoke cleared, revealing a perfectly healthy (yet very, very confused) Eithne, Norman's Slaking lounging around nearby and looking very much not-burnt to a crisp. The cold stare Keegan shot in Dante's direction could have frozen a Magmar solid, even if deep down the redhead knew that if their roles were reversed, he'd be the one laughing his a** off at Dante's expense.
O-okay, he thought, green eyes slowly tracing out the now-impressive level of damage his Pokemon had collectively done to the gym and then to Slaking, and it was then that he realized that even with Eithne's Overheat missing, he'd still lucked out, for Slaking's Facade had missed, as well. No wonder he was so chipper about that burn. He glanced back at the still-laughing Dante, smirking a bit as Hades, still somewhat amped from both the fall and his near-Poké-napping experience had decided to test out the auburn-haired boy's usefulness as a human trampoline and was currently trying to convince the baby Turtwig to start jumping along with him.
Well, Norman can't get lucky all the time, the redhead mused, still smirking as he looked back to his Pokemon. "Eithne, Flame Wheel," he said, his voice so quiet that even the Arcanine almost didn't hear him. The Fire-type canine growled fiercely as she vaulted toward Norman's Slaking, her whole body becoming wreathed in scorching flames.
Keegan was right, Norman couldn't get lucky all the time, he could only wince as the Flame Wheel hit his Slaking right on. The large creature gave a pained cry and flopped down hard onto the ground passed out. With that, the battle was over, Keegan had won and Normans gym was destroyed once more. Sighing the gym leader recalled his Pokemon and put the pokeball away. "Congratulations on your victory and destroying my gym." He commented dryly. Heading over to the new victor he pulled out a small pouch that contained his gyms badge, TM, and the victors winning. "Good job, now grab your friend and get out of here before you break any more of my things." He muttered handing over the winnings.
On the sidelines Dante continued to bust a gut laughing while making pathetic attempts at shoving now both of the baby Pokemon off of him. "Georff meeeeee!" He wailed as he rolled around on the ground in a pathetic laughing mess. Tears were streaming down his face and he was getting rid of any sort of cool attitude he ever sort of had. Good thing it was only Keegan and Norman in here, a gym leader who saw tons of challengers and would forget him, and Keegan who had seen him in a dress more then once and had cross-dressed with him..
Jogging through the streets and parks of Hearthome city Robin and her team were getting a few stares. Though a lot of them were being directed at Zuko, it wasn't often that you saw a new Pokemon scuttling around, let alone trying it's best to keep up with the moderate pace that it's trainer and two starters were keeping. Robin herself was acting as a sort of buffer between Black*Star and Ace, the Monferno didn't really seem to care while the Croconaw growled at him and shot a few glares his way, one time he even tried to snap at the fire type, Robin hit him over the head after that.
Behind them though Zuko was scrambling his tiny little bug legs as fast as he could. Still no matter how fast he scrambled it seemed like the distance kept getting bigger and bigger. Huffing he narrowed big blue eyes and did his best to push himself harder, he had to keep up with them. Because he was concentrating so hard he didn't notice Robin's continued concerned glances behind her. He also didn't notice she had started jogging backwards in order to keep a better eye on him.
At the last possible second, a thought had occurred to Kasiya and she ran back inside the Pokemon Center, quickly planting herself in front of one of the computers and inputting her information. As happy as she was to have Ariel and Shocker reunited, she still wanted to train her younger, less-experienced Pokemon, so she sent the Vaporeon back to the lab and brought back Nova in her place. "Gotta make your big brother proud," the blonde smiled to the sphere after she'd logged out and once again turned to make her way outside. She was so busy talking to her Pokeball that she nearly ran smack into a boy wearing a red jacket and a white baseball cap with a Pokeball insignia on it. "Oops, sorry! My bad!" she quickly apologized, the Raichu perched on her shoulder rolling her eyes - it was nice to see that some things didn't change; in this case, her trainer's clumsiness and knack for bowling over innocent bystanders.
Shocker did straighten up as the boy took notice of her, puffing out her chest as she tried to look cool. "Yeah, this is Shocker," Kasiya nodded, reaching up and poking the mouse's side. "Don't mind her, she's a bit of a showoff," she added, listening as the boy spoke of his own electric rodent. "From a Pichu, huh? That's awesome, congratulations!" She continued to listen as he mentioned some trainer by the name of Falkner, and judging by the tone of his voice, that match hadn't gone too well. "Yep, Violet City is our next stop," she said, making the intuitive jump to conclude that Falkner was the leader of the Violet City Gym. She opened her mouth to object to Shocker's participation in the battle but changed her mind, instead opting to try and perk up the boy's spirits. "That's the thing about gym leaders," she said, scratching the Raichu under the chin. "They're much tougher than your average trainer. I guess that's why they get to be leaders. Anyway, if I've learned anything, it's that you can't let a loss get you down! You gotta get right back up on that Rapidash! Believe me, I've had my share of tough losses, but I never dwell on them too long." She paused, realizing she was rambling a bit. "So are you gonna head back to Violet City and try again? Oh, my name's Kasiya, by the way," she added, holding out her hand. "It's always great to meet a fellow Pikachu/Raichu trainer!"
Jaeshan made a slight face as Shellos vomited up a ball of projectile muck, knowing that if that were to hit Magnemite, it'd score some serious damage. "Uh... counter it with Sonic Boom!" the blond called quickly, but then he frowned. Would that even work? Or should he have just asked Magnemite to take the hit and try to take out the slug Pokemon with a Thunderbolt if it survived? It was too late to change his mind now as Magnemite had already started to spin its magnets, shooting off a sharp burst of sound that cut through the air and slammed into Shellos' Mud Bomb. While it didn't stop it completely, it did break it up into smaller chunks that then pelted the Magnet Pokemon for less damage than it would have taken had it been hit by the full-force of the attack.
"Ooh, nice quick thinking!" Lisa beamed at him from across the battlefield. "It's good to see that the battle-smart Jae I remember is still in there somewhere!" Naturally, a furious blush appeared on the blond's face from the compliment, and this made Lisa laugh. Her Shellos laughed along with her, though the pink slug had no idea why. "Use Mud Bomb again!" she called. "Let's see them block it this time!" The happy slug Pokemon bobbed up and down before expelling another ball of mud at Magnemite, still laughing and dribbling mucky drool all over the place.
As soon as Damien gave Gastly the command for a Night Shade, Karrigan knew that Aegeus was done for. And if that last attack didn't do him in, well, the burn likely would. The very large Steelix suddenly seemed so weak and helpless, groaning feebly as the Ghost-type's attack struck him. The redhead smiled meekly and held up the Steelix's Pokeball to recall him. In all honesty, she hadn't been expecting for Aegeus' debut in his newly-evolved form to end like this, but at the same time, it had allowed her some insight into Damien's battle strategy and mindset. Sure, Damien and his Gastly seemed to always be bickering, but when they were in sync, clearly they were quite dangerous, and Karrigan knew that would only get better when (and if) Gastly decided to evolve into a Haunter. "That was... interesting," she said once she'd crossed the cracked ground to get to where Damien and Gastly waited, pretending to be interested in her shoes so she didn't have to look at them. "I'm... I'm going back inside to get him healed," she said, nodding to the Pokeball in her hand. "Then, we can figure out what we're going to do next."
Karrigan once again offered her shy smile before she turned and headed back inside the Pokemon Center, still marveling at how different the layout was in comparison to the ones back home in Sinnoh, and Kanto, apparently. She was fairly certain Damien would follow her inside, as Gastly had taken some damage in the battle, but then again, you never could tell with that guy. Karrigan patiently waited in the short line before handing over her Steelix's Pokeball.
"Uh oh, this is gonna suck!" Georgia cried, prematurely wincing as the Monferno's blazing appendage indeed caught the very surprised Carnivine's chin, dealing a significant amount of damage - perhaps even a critical hit! Carnivine made a wailing-sort of blubber as it teetered back and crumpled to the ground, its face singed black in various places. "Well whaddya know, I was right!" the auburn-haired girl laughed, scratching the back of her head sheepishly as she recalled her fainted Pokemon. "That did suck!" Her voice was still quite playful as she threw out her second and last Pokeball. "Okay Cherubi, we've got a tough fight ahead of us but we'll do our best!" The Cherry Pokemon appeared in a flash of light, chirping cutely as she turned in a circle. "Let's start things off with your Leech Seed!" Cherubi continued her cute chirping even as the leaves atop the larger portion seemed to sprout, and three bullet-like seeds sped toward Monferno, eager take root and start nibbling away at the chimp's health.
Ben watched with a smirk as the Raichu tried to show herself off, wondering idly if she was a friendly Pokemon. When the girl mentioned Gyms being tougher than average battles, he could only nod. "Yeah, you've got that right," he said, still a little sullen. But it seemed she was indeed headed toward the Violet Gym, herself. When asked if he would be going back for a rematch, he hesitated. "Well, I think maybe I need to get stronger first," he said, his eyes drifting to the side. "But I'm not sure I know how." Leaving that alone for now, he listened as the girl finally introduced herself. "Kasiya?" he repeated, smiling a little and reaching out to grasp her offered hand. "My name's Ben. And yeah, seeing what Pikachu might evolve into is pretty cool. How good is your Raichu at battling? Is she awesome?" He didn't mean to pry, but it would be exciting to know if his Pikachu had more potential than he expected.
Riza let out a small groan of annoyance as the sun had suddenly started to blaze even brighter than before, making the already very warm gym feel like a sauna. 'I wish I was back in Blackthorn,' she thought, gritting her teeth as she looked out at Erika's Vileplume, and then to her Dragonair. "Faustus, come on!" she called out. "Flamethrower, now!" The one thing she was sure of was if this attack would go off, it was likely the match would end now. But no, nothing was ever simple and the love struck dragon-type just swooned back and forth on the spot, the slight blush on his face accented by the cute fluttering of his wing like ears. Riza sighed, but she wasn't defeated yet. She still had one Pokemon left and after seeing that Sunny Day she knew exactly who she'd be sending out to replace Faustus.
The young ninja looked a little confused by the Pokemon that Katie had sent out, but that wasn't surprising. Katie was sure that not many people had even heard of a Solosis before let alone seen one. He seemed to have decided to get over it and put on his big boy shorts as he pointed at Darla. "Karate Chop!" he called out, voice full of energy.
"Gotta admire the kid's spirit," Katie mumbled, though Darla did not share her trainer's thoughts. The Solosis glared at the Machop as it ran toward her, arm raised as it prepared to smash her with its powerful little hand. Katie wasn't quite sure how to counter that, but she figured with the Reflect and the psychic-type's resistance to fighting-type moves, she'd probably be okay. This proved to be the case as Machop's hand smashed down on her, the reflect shimmering as contact was made and blocking some of the damage.
Katie's intuition had been right on the money as the attack hadn't done much and really had only succeeded in making Darla even more angry, if possible. "I think a Shadow Ball to the face ought to teach it to stay out of your personal space," the orange haired girl said with a smirk, watching with satisfaction as the Solosis did just that, forming and firing off a shadowy orb that sped through the air and crashed into the Machop, sending it to the ground.
From a distance Brock had watched the battle between young Liam and the new comer with some interest. He'd never seen anyone like him before come into the gym, and there was something familiar about him, something that felt like it should be alarming or at the very least make him take caution. After wrestling with his mind for an explanation and coming up with nothing, the gym leader simply resolved to watch the little match, nodding along with an impressed look as the challenger's Kecleon made short work of Liam's Sandshrew. 'This will be interesting,' Brock thought as Mike proceeded through the gym, now obviously looking for him. The gym leader stopped and did a double take before coming out into the open, had he just seen that boy's skin glow in the shadows?
"Hey there," he called out as he stepped out from behind a particularly large rock. "I guess you're looking for me, huh?" It was almost startling, getting his first good look at his challenger, but the gym leader remained calm and collected. After all, it was his job to judge a person's ability as a trainer and that was all, though he couldn't help but sense that Mike was not a beginner. "My rules are fairly simple: two Pokemon each. We'll begin whenever you're ready." Somehow Brock almost felt bad as he sent his first Pokemon into battle, a rather scuffed up and scarred Geodude, and he made a silent promise to make it up to them later with extra large servings of their favourite Pokemon food.
((I am soooo sorry Mike, feel free to take control of the battle if you want as I'm not sure how much time I'll have to post over the next while and I'm sure it won't be that difficult of a battle. :> ))
Sticking out like a sore thumb in the typically vibrant pallet of Celadon, the black and white modeling agency rose into view as Sasha sprinted down the sidewalk. Thankfully, cars were not the most prevalent thing (because really, who would choose a car over a giant monster?) she was met with few obstacles. This was gonna be a buzzer beater, for sure.
With mere moments to spare, Sasha burst through the doors. "Je suis ici! ICI!" Every person in the waiting room snapped to look at her, which was, in fact, only the receptionist. No interns. No crazy photographer.
"Yes. You certainly are." Not a stranger to the strange girl's antics, the receptionist simply blinked a few times. "Good afternoon, Sasha. I will let Celeste know you are here." Cindy, the receptionist of twenty two, was no slouch in the looks department herself. Sporting shoulder length auburn hair, similarly colored eyes, and never seen without her pair of sophisticated yet stylish glasses, she could make anyone purr. Cindy had been working behind the front desk for about a year when Celeste found herself 'needing' a subject when her last appointment ended early due to someone losing their temper, and conscripted her into a shoot on the spot. Turns out, she was a natural. This was no surprise to Sasha, who always considered the bespectacled babe one of the many joys of coming here.
Adjusting her scarf, Sasha sat down cross-legged in one of the armchairs, which deflated slightly the way those expensive chairs always do when met with a rump. "Bon après-midi." she said, with ample pleasantries.
"You're gonna like today's shoot." Cindy said, only taking her eyes off the screen to see Sasha's reaction, which was one of intrigue.
"Oh?"
"We have the latest Maguire in today. Just for you." Sasha took off like a rocket. In an instant, she was climbing over the front desk begging for details. "Ah-ah-ah." Cindy said, wagging a finger. "That's all you get for now." She pressed it against the pink-haired girl's nose and gently pushed her back, smiling. She knew full well how much that would frustrate her. Sasha pouted so hard she may have pulled a muscle. "You'll know soon enough."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 05, 2013 8:54 am
Sasha plopped back in her chair, then proceeded to do her best impersonation of a grumpy French pretzel. She sat there, stewing in her overly-dramatic juices before the door beside the desk flew open, smashing against the wall with a loud crash. While this sound would have sent anyone with claws straight to the ceiling, Cindy continued typing as if it were nothing but a gentle breeze, ever the professional. Sasha too was familiar with this entrance, and the greeting that was to follow.
"Alexandra my radiant masterpiece!" Celeste spoke in an accent so tangible she could use it as a cudgel. "Today we are going to make history!" Sasha smiled. Even though she had heard this exact line literally every time she showed up, Celeste never once sounded like she didn't mean it from the bottom of her heart. She wore only the thickest of fur coats. It didn't matter that it was in the middle of summer. She could be on fire and that wouldn't stop her. "Let me have a look at you!" Celeste preened, clicking her way over in her tiny heels and kissing both her cheeks. She pulled down her designer sunglasses that were seemingly swapped out every fifteen minutes or so. Sasha had been modeling for Celeste for two years now and she had never once seen the same pair twice. "My dear what happened?! You look positively ragged!" Damn. Should have known she wouldn't be able to get anything past her.
"Stray attack from a wild Dugtrio." Sasha lied.
"Oh, Alexandra. I don't know why you participate in those horrid, horrid battles! You belong on the stage, behind lights and snapping cameras! Not rough-housing with the rabble."
"Why not both? I happen to like the rabble." Celeste scoffed, throwing her head back.
"We can work with it, my dear. Some minor touch up and you'll be as good as new. Your weapons are in the armory. I will see you once you are ready." Celeste always called fashion "the weapon we use to combat the horrid monotony of life", a sentiment Sasha could get behind. In the right outfit, she felt downright deadly.
The twinkle in Sasha's eyes rivaled the stars in the sky when she saw the dress before her. It was a long black dress entirely devoid of a back, and a good deal of the front as well. Any more slink and it would be a serpent. This wasn't a head turner, this was a neck snapper. Sasha flung her clothes to the ground, and was about to unhook her bra when a positively devious thought crept into her mind. It was time to have a little fun. Taking out her phone, Sasha scrolled through her contacts, her grin widening as it landed on one particular name. She typed:
Bonjour, Keegan! How is my favorite gentleman? : )
She cast the line. Now let's see if he took the bait.
Keegan exhaled slowly through his nose, watching with relief as the Slaking fell to the ground. That's it, the redhead thought, watching with a bit of a smirk as Eithne trotted toward him, looking very pleased with herself. "Great job, girl. I knew you could do it," he said, pressing his hand against the Arcanine's large (yet somehow very wet and very cold) nose before returning her to her Great Ball. He flinched a little when he saw that Norman was the exact opposite of impressed, very nearly throwing Keegan's winnings at them before telling them to get the hell out. Great, another place where I'll never be able to show my sorry face again, he thought, uttering a quick thanks and an even quicker apology as he pocketed his winnings and turned to find Dante, on the ground and still laughing like a lunatic while Hades and Turtwig bounced up and down on him.
"Come on, Chuckles. We've worn out our welcome," Keegan grumbled, scooping up Hades with one hand and grabbing Dante by the collar of his jacket/scarf with the other. He was unable to decide what part of this experience had been more humiliating - pissing off Norman to the point of having the gym leader kick them out or having to practically drag the hot mess that was Dante out by the scruff of his neck. Once they were outside, he released his hold on the giggly auburn-haired boy, returned the now-completely hyper Axew to his Premier Ball and took out his cigarettes, feeling as though they were a bigger reward than the Balance Badge he'd just won.
He was just about to light one up when he heard the unmistakable chirp of his PokeNav and he let out a groan. "Urgh, what NOW!?" he nearly shouted, suddenly very much regretting his choice to recharge the thing. He tucked the unlit cigarette behind his ear as he pulled the device out of his pocket. "I swear, somebody better be dead-" he paused in mid-rant when he saw the name onscreen - Sasha - and he raised an eyebrow. Okay, that's... unexpected, he thought as he read over the message, and he found himself smirking as he quickly typed (actually, violently jabbed at the screen would be a better way to describe it) out a reply:
I am peachy ********' keen. How's my favourite little minx?
The latter half of the message he wrote as an afterthought, and he hit send, not entirely sure why Sasha would want to waste her time messaging him, of all people. Hoping that he'd regained at least some of his dignity by now, Keegan signaled to Dante and started to walk toward the Pokemon Center; the unlit cigarette behind his ear almost screaming at him to be smoked.
"Professor Juniper?" Taryn demanded, her snotty tone still more than enough to make Miharu seethe with rage. Almost hyper-aware of the green-haired girl's anger, Bradley attempted to reassure her by placing his hand on her shoulder, but before he could make contact Miharu had stepped out of his reach, the kind, white-blond boy's image suddenly shifting to a taller, more menacing blond boy, a blood-red R standing out on his chest. Miharu blinked and Bradley reappeared, but she was clearly shaken.
"Yes, Taryn?" Professor Juniper asked, once again drawing from her seemingly empty pool of patience.
"Are any of these Pokemon girls?" Taryn asked, placing her hands on her hips.
"I'm afraid not, Taryn. They're all males," Juniper answered. Tepig puffed out his little chest proudly and snorted out a plume of smoke while Snivy struck a pose. Oshawott continued to examine his scalchop, more concerned with a minor imperfection he'd found.
"That's disappointing," the girl sighed, looking over the three again. "Hmm... in that case..." She glanced over at Miharu and Bradley, well aware that her companion had intended to choose Tepig, something she'd been okay with from the start. "Hey Mimi," she said sweetly, sidling right up to Miharu, the sudden nicknaming catching her off-guard.
"Yes...?" Miharu answered warily. "And it's Miharu, by the way," she added, clearly annoyed.
"Which of these cuties are you most interested in, Mimi? Y'know, Bradley here has his heart set on Tepig."
"Taryn..." Brad said, his tone like a warning. "Miharu, don't answer her."
"Oh, chill out Brad, I'm just trying to make conversation," Taryn said dismissively. "Seriously though, Mimi. Which of them are you going to choose?"
It was quite sad to see the large Steelix fall to the ground, and strangely enough, Damien didn't feel any sort of joy or satisfaction from the win. Karrigan took the loss rather well, but it was easy to see that she was disappointed - apparently her shoes were more interesting than he was. "Yes, interesting indeed," he agreed, figuring he was wise to refrain from making any sort of negative commentary, and he motioned for Gastly to follow him as the redhead made her way inside the Pokemon Center.
"You really know how to impress a girl," Gastly commented as his sour-faced trainer lined up behind Karrigan. "Better slow down, Casanova, she'll be head-over-heels for you in no time."
"..." Damien said nothing in reply; he only scowled then recalled the smartass of a Pokemon into his PokeBall before handing him over for the healing that he probably didn't even need.
Dante managed to somewhat gain control of himself as Keegan practically dragged him out of the gym. Hiccuping a little and taking deep breaths he wiped the tears from his face and let out one last huff of laughter before picking himself up from the ground. Taking a note out of Keegans book he picked out a Pokeball for Turtwig and put her inside of it. Glancing over at the redhead he figured that maybe he should apologize for laughing so hard, then he figured that Keegan was a big boy and could handle being laughed at a bit.
Smoking though, that was a good idea, Dante watched as Keegan drew out his pack and pulled one out. Rummaging through his own bag he pulled out his own pack and lit one up for himself. He watched with vague amusement, he still felt rather giggly, as the redhead was interrupted from what would have surely been a calming smoke if it wasn't for his cell phone. "You can always ignore it you know." Dante commented between drags off his own. Much like he was ignoring his own vibrating cell phone, he was sure if he checked it he would find lots of missed calls from his mom, or the Pokemon Center or whatever. Still Dante had no intention of picking it up and was not exactly ready to go face whatever news they had to tell him at the moment. So instead of being responsible he watched as Keegan responded to whatever message he had written; for once not snooping and reading over his shoulder, before storming off to the Pokemon Center.
Shrugging Dante followed him and headed their himself, he figured that he might as well get that little monster Kali healed. He just hoped that she wouldn't pop out of her Pokeball again, seriously what was up with that? Besides maybe if he could still talk Keegan into helping him evolve Kenny. That thought in mind he cheerfully snuffed out his almost finished cigarette at the small ashtray outside the door and headed inside himself.
As Robin watched Zuko struggle to keep up with them a wave of fondness hit her at the sight, ok so she already loved the little bug since before she even knew what he was. Here she was thinking she was stuck with all these Pokemon that had a natural talent for battling, at least with, Ace, Black*Star, Luffy, and Raz she often times felt like she was more of a hindrance to them then an actual help. Though it seemed like right here, her special little bug was in need of her help, he would need her help and she would give it to him. Right now though watching him struggle so hard though made her want to scoop him up into a hug and carry him the whole way, he was just so cute!
Still though shes was going to show her support, turning around she slowed down her pace to little more then a brisk walk and stayed even with him. "Keep going Zuzu! I will match whatever pace you set." She grinned at white little bug, ahead of her Ace and Black*Star gave her an annoyed look but slowed down their pace to match.
Mike flashed a toothy grin as the gym leader presented himself. "That is the basic idea now isn't it?" he chuckled.
You're shaking.
"I'm getting excited!"
It's the first gym. It's hardly anything a trainer like you should get worked up over.
"You don't understand!" Mike retorted rather loudly, his earlier composure beginning to fade. "It's not how many badges I have, or where he is on the ladder. It's the battle! The fight!" He turned back to Brock. "Gym leaders always give their all. And that's what I like. An all out battle! Explosions! Fire! Chaos! All of it!" Mike took a moment to close his eyes, letting out a breath through his nose like he had just taken the longest, most satisfying drag of a cigarette, complete with visuals. His eyes sprang open, immediately locking with the Geodude. "Rough and tumble. Tough looking rock!" His smile intensified. "Now! ...what Pokemon should I use?"
Camerae?
"No, no no. That's far too usual. Far too...typical."
Powalski again?
"No, he should rest." He eyed one of the nearby phantoms. "Aha! I got it!" he snapped his fingers, making a spark. "Brock, your opponent shall beeeee! Pumpkin!"
What?
Huh?
Are you sure that's...smart?
"Who knows?" Mike cackled, seemingly as unsure of his answer as the rest of the crowd. "Come on out, Pumpkin!" From behind his trainer, the little Litwick, who had done a good job of staying out of the way, meekly floated forward. Pumpkin eyed the strong looking Geodude, then to Mike. "Go on, get out there." the boy urged. At his trainer's insistence, the little candle hesitantly made his way to the battlefield. "It's his first gym battle." Mike whispered to Brock. "He's nervous. So, we ready set?" Mike asked, looking around for more than one answer. "Seeing as it fits the theme, why not a Confuse Ray to start it out?"
Pumpkin's eyes began to glow, and with a little squeak, a flickering wave of light shot out towards his opponent, hoping to disorient him. He really hoped it worked.
Sasha was about to put her phone down to get dressed, assuming Keegan was going to be busy, when her phone buzzed in her hand. "Z'hat was fast." she muttered, grinning at the response. "Oh Keegan, you always know how to talk to a lady." she said,shaking her head as she typed out a response of her own.
C'est merveilleux! What has put you in this good mood? : D
Boop. She hit send, smiling deviously.
Crenu sat silently, face against the cold metal doors of the truck he'd jumped into. He was still feeling sluggish and he was sore as hell to boot, but he didn't care. He was playing it by ear which wasn't his usual way of doing things, his heart was beating faster than it's usual steady rhythm and his thoughts raced. He hated not having a plan. The truck slowly came to a halt and Crenu held his breath, pressing his ear to the wall closest to the cabin hoping to make out any kind of indication of what was going on outside. Luckily there was little more than a few pieces of furniture tightly fastened in the back of what was probably a delivery truck, so he had enough room to move around easily enough as well as a place to sit. It was hard to hear anything back there, but he managed to make out the words 'check your cargo' before shooting back to the opposite end of the big metal box, he just couldn't catch a break today. Though surviving a rather fatal motor vehicle surely counted as just that. "So they set up a check point already...either they're looking for something or I've got some shitty luck." It didn't matter what the reason for it was, he didn't have time to stick around. As quietly as he cold he lifted door to the back of the truck just enough for him to roll out onto the street, the weight of the door closing it snugly as he passed under it. He could already hear the footsteps as he dove from the road looking for the closes cover he could get to. He was thankful it was the dead of night, but even at this hour there was still a line of car in front of the tuck all stopped and apparently being searched, there was no way he was going to get anywhere like this anymore. It was strictly on foot from this point on it seemed, but it wasn't as bad as it seemed. He ducked behind the nearest wall, some building by the looks of it, and kept an eye out as he swiftly got further from the road. Adjusted to the darkness by now, he looked around as he snuck around he started to recognize the area, it seemed the truck had gotten as far as Vermillion before the blockade was set up. This was a good sign as it meant it was probably just set up very recently as they hadn't covered the side they'd come in on yet. If security wasn't city wide yet, then Vermillion was the best place to be stranded, as this was a port town and there were ships that could be boarded. Right now Crenu's mind was everywhere. The incident, the accident, the escape, and Riza. Riza....He just left her there. There they were, he had her in his arms, or rather she had him as he was slipping into a chemically educed sleep, and then nothing. All he wanted to do was spend time with her, to see her. After the whole contest ordeal, after realizing what she meant to him, he just wanted to..wanted to be with her. To have her. To be happy and to make her happy as well. But no sooner had they gotten back within each other's presence, he went down and now he was on the run.
He was well aware that getting on a boat meant he was gone, not just for today, not just for a while. He knew it meant he was gone, forever. From the moment he left the crash site, the first thing he wanted to do was go to her, call her, talk to her, but he knew that was impossible. He'd only make things bad for her like this.Get her in trouble long with him, have his pokemon taken in and gotten rid of, get caught all over again. No, he couldn't do that to her, he couldn't put her at any kind of risk. For her sake it was probably best if he just wet away. He'd contact her once it was safe, once he was somewhere far. But he knew that getting on a ship meant that he probably would never see her again. He probably shouldn't even contact her either, even when he was safe. She'd want to know where he was, she might even try and find him. He'd probably try and get back to her to be honest. He went back to thinking that he wanted her to be happy, it would probably be best for her if he just vanished from her life completely. There just wasn't any time to think, no time to make any kinds of plans and rationally come to any sort of decision. A ships horn blasted, probably getting ready to go underway. Surely they would check ships as well, but if they just started getting the road blocks up they might not have gotten to the docks yet, and even if they had, a ship that was just about to leave must have already been cleared. This was it, with his mind made up and no time to spare, the tall blond ran towards the sound of the horn. With the law enforcement focused on the road blocks and probably checking other moored ships, the run to the pier was a clear one, each second and a second horn blast giving him the sinking feeling that he'd missed his one opportunity at escape. He kept picturing the ship pulling further and further way, he was sure that he'd missed it and as he got closer and closer his heart nearly stopped at the sight of it. A massive cruise ship sitting in the water, pulling up it's access ramp as workers pulled the lines off the bollards. He was too late. So stupid, how was he gonna get on anyway? Not like he had a ticket. But as he was starting to sink in despair, he caught the sight of something out of the corner of his eye. Maybe he wasn't completely out of luck after all.
Keegan was vaguely aware of Dante walking along behind him, and a quick glance over his shoulder proved this fact to be true. He saw no glimpse of the baby Turtwig so he surmised that Dante had put her into a PokeBall of her own. He also saw the lit cigarette and decided that he'd waited long enough. He'd just shrugged at Dante's comment of ignoring his 'Nav, and a flick of his lighter and a long, slow inhale later, Keegan found himself feeling significantly calmer and he slowed his pace as they neared the red-roofed safe haven, wanting nothing more than to enjoy what he'd decided was a victory smoke, but he'd only get in that first, satisfying drag before the device in his pocket chirped again to signal the arrival of Sasha's reply.
He read it over quickly and sighed, looking up as Dante walked past him and into the Pokemon Center. "I am not in a good mood," he grumbled, but then realized that sarcasm didn't usually translate over to text messages all that well. He thought for a few moments before slowly writing out his reply and only just managing to refrain from writing back "nothing now what do you want". Sasha didn't deserve to be on the receiving end of his irrational anger.
Just won my fifth badge. Not a lie, not snarky. He was on a roll. To what do I owe this great pleasure of having your attention? There - a fancy, polite(ish) way to ask what the hell she wanted. He hit send, and then took another drag of his cigarette, somehow sure she'd answer back relatively quickly.
"Miharu," she insisted, refusing to look at the obnoxious girl and instead focusing on the Pokemon, tears threatening her eyes. She blinked a few times and steeled herself, still avoiding eye contact with Taryn. "I like Grass-types," she said finally. "Snivy would be my first choice."
Bradley snapped his fingers. "That's perfect!" he said, grinning broadly. "Taryn's been saying for weeks now how she was going to choose Oshawott, and with me and Tepig, this is gonna work out perfectly!"
Neither he nor Miharu had missed the absolutely wicked smile that crossed Taryn's face as Bradley spoke. "Yes, quite perfectly indeed," Taryn agreed, now looking to Juniper. Even the professor appeared to be worried. "Professor Juniper, I have made my decision," she said, nodding. "My starter is going to be Snivy."
"Taryn!" objected Bradley. Miharu remained silent.
"O-of course, if you're absolutely certain," the professor said, nodding slowly.
"Yes. I am certain."
"All right, then. You'll need this - Snivy's PokeBall. And here are five empty ones, as well. If you'll come over here, I'll give you your PokeDex, as well." The professor gave an apologetic look in Miharu's direction as she gave Taryn the spheres, but the girl hadn't noticed as her eyes had finally filled with tears.
"You're not sure... of how to get stronger?" Kasiya repeated, now rubbing the affectionate Raichu's cheeks. "That's an easy one! You just gotta keep on training and working hard with your Pokemon. Well, I guess it's only easy in theory, but you know what I mean." She smiled and Shocker jumped down to the ground, feeling the need to examine this boy named Ben.
Kasiya, meanwhile, beamed at the question, but managed to keep herself from spouting "the most awesome" as an answer, figuring that she didn't need to make herself look like a giant egomaniac in front of someone she just met. "She's one tough customer," the blonde answered finally, nodding. "She just defeated an Espeon not too long ago. Oh yeah, she's friendly, too. She's just really, really curious." She watched the Raichu continue her investigation for a few moments, then looked back to Ben. "So, you have a Pikachu, right? What other Pokemon do you have? That is, if you don't mind me asking," she added, also not wanting to be rude.
Of course I'm still me, Jaeshan thought, still a bit flustered by Lisa's comment. At least, I think I'm me. Sort of. He frowned as she then called out for another Mud Bomb, realizing quickly that there wasn't enough time to counter it with a Sonic Boom. "Try to dodge it, and fight back with a Thunderbolt," he called, a bit concerned. Then again, he remembered how much the Magnet Pokemon's shocks had hurt, and he had a change of hurt. Perhaps a bit of karma was in order just now. Magnemite, however, seemed to have no desire to be smacked by a glob of mud and quickly moved to the side, the muck splattering part of one of its magnets. Shaking it off, Magnemite emitted an angry-sounding buzzing as it then proceeded to fire off a much stronger bolt of electricity at the Shellos than he had before.
"Uh oh, Shellos!" Lisa cried, wincing as the Thunderbolt hit its mark and gave Shellos what could very well be the shock of its life, at least up to this point. Giving a little whimper, the pink Pokemon slumped to the ground, too weak to continue. "Aw, Shellos. At least we got Sigilmalyphy or whatever it's called." A devious smirk appeared on her face as she selected her next Pokemon. "You might remember this guy!" she called, giving the sphere a spirited toss. "Monferno! Let's teach them a lesson in pain! Hit 'em hard with your Mach Punch!" The Fire/Fighting-type punched the air a few times, his long, flaming tail blazing brightly. Then he was off like a rocket, leaping at Magnemite with a blindingly-fast, uppercut-like strike.
Karrigan stifled a yawn, but it was quickly followed up by another and she thanked the kind nurse as Aegeus' Pokeball was returned to her. Next time, she thought, looking down at the sphere fondly before glancing up at the clock. It was later than she thought, as neither she nor Damien seemed to have noticed how dark it was getting outside. Since the nurse was now preoccupied with Damien Karrigan approached a long counter to the right, quickly taking note of the rows and rows of Potion bottles and Pokeballs behind it. "Can I help you?" the man behind the counter asked cheerfully.
"Maybe?" the redhead answered tentatively, wondering if the man was genuinely this cheerful or if it was all an act for his job. "My friend and I are new in town. New to Unova, actually, and we were wondering if there was a place we could stay for the night."
The man's smile didn't falter as he seemed to think about the best way to answer Karrigan. "The Pokemon Center has a few rooms for traveling trainers," he said finally. "If you go up those stairs and then turn to your left, you'll find them."
"Thank you," Karrigan said, inclining her head. "I appreciate your help."
"You're quite welcome," he answered again. "And, welcome to Unova!"
Feeling a little relieved that she would have a comfortable place to sleep for the night, Karrigan walked around slowly as she waited for Damien, stifling more yawns as she did so.
"How fortunate for us," Erika said softly, watching with both satisfaction and a hint of sympathy as Riza's Dragonair was a victim of infatuation for another round. "I believe it is time to end the poor darling's suffering, Vileplume. Solarbeam."
The Flower Pokemon danced from foot to foot, her large petals all beginning to glow. Within a second she'd accumulated enough rays and she leaned forward, a wide, bright beam of pure solar energy blasting out toward the Dragonair.
"I can't believe her," Bradley muttered once Taryn was out of earshot. "Actually, no wait. Yes I can. I'm really sorry about her," he went on. "She's always been sort of... well, you know." Seeing the look on her face, he cleared his throat, looking to the two remaining Pokemon that stood before them, and his eyes lit up as an idea crossed his mind. "I know you wanted to pick Snivy, and again I'm really sorry about... about... her, but if you want, you can pick Tepig and I won't be upset at all, I promise."
Miharu shook her head, eyes still shining with tears. "N-no," she said, her voice quivering slightly. "I mean, that's very generous of you, Bradley, but that's quite all right. I'm not the biggest fan of Fire-type Pokemon, and Oshawott and I are already somewhat acquainted." She wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her jacket and adjusted her beret, forcing a smile as she looked at the little Otter. "Besides, he's a good little Pokemon, and I'm sure we'll be just fine, right? We'll be just fine."
The next few minutes were a blur to the green-haired girl. She was only partially aware of Tepig bounding over to his new trainer, puffs of smoke wafting up from his snout as he danced around in happiness. Words were garbled but she understood enough to know that Bradley had been given Tepig's PokeBall and five empty ones, just like Taryn and they'd both received a shiny, new PokeDex before being sent on their way. During all of this, Miharu had slumped down against a filing cabinet, hugging her knees to her chest. Her newly-appointed partner, Oshawott, waited patiently nearby, occasionally walking around her to see if she planned to move any time soon. Finally the otter plopped down on the floor beside her, and he would have hugged his knees to his own chest if he had them, but for now, Oshawott had to settle for once again examining his scalchop for imperfections.
