Earendil laughed. "Well, why don't you ask your mother?" he grinned at her. "If she has plans for your lessons today, perhaps it's best if we go tomorrow rather than today."
He paused. "And we would have to ask Captain Striate if he is free to take us."

"Mommy?" Miyuki looked up at her mother with eyes and a voice that asked the question without it really being asked.
Lin chuckled at Miyuki a bit knowing what she wanted. As much as she wanted to, she also knew Miyuki would learn a bit from the trip. If nothing else, Lin was also aware that she couldn't keep pushing Miyuki at such a fast pace.
"No lessons today, tomorrow we'll be covering some numbers," Lin replied softly.
"Yay!"

Earendil chuckled. "And now you better ask Captain Straite if he's free to take us," he winked at Miyuki, nodding across the table at Aurin.

Miyuki nodded, looking across the table to Captain Straite, she smiled brightly.
"Can you take us to the Dragon Cave please? If you're not busy Captain Straite?"
There was a sort of pleading tone at the end, but it couldn't be helped she was only nine after all.

Aurin chuckled at Miyuki. She was just such a typical child ...
"I will ask Her Majesty if I may," he smiled, nodding. "If she has no objections, then I would be happy to take you."

"Yay!" Miyuki bounced in her seat.
Lin placed a hand on Miyuki's head to remind her to keep calm, bouncing in the seat was not necessary.

Earendil chuckled. "Calm down, Miyuki," he murmured. "If you spill your breakfast all over yourself or someone else, we will only have to wait longer to go."
Perhaps he and Lin would have to focus on teaching her patience, and how to remain calm even when she was excited. She was going to cause an accident at the rate she was going. It was as if she were always on a sugar high - without the sugar.

Miyuki settled down onto her seat, at least the best she was able considering her tails were thumping against the chair and she was waving her little legs back and forth in the air.
"Okay!" she chirped.
Lin on the other hand was not as worried as Earendil, she grew up with Feng and Naida, she was used to people who could seemly produced their own sugar as it were. She simply made a mental note of getting up earlier to teach Miyuki some more new things.
Physical things, maybe it was time for her to choose a practice weapon. She was nine after all Lin mused on this.
"Finish your breakfast," she told Miyuki quietly.
The look that dawned on her face told her mother that Miyuki had forgotten about her breakfast even after being reminded about it by her ada. Taking up the fork again she began to eat.

Once breakfast was over, Earendil disappeared to ask the kitchen for a lunch basket for all of them. It didn't take long, and soon he was back, ready to go.
"I think we're supposed to meet Aurin at the rookery," he told Lin and Miyuki as he joined them. "I've had some malek, so I'll be fine."

"What's malek? Why are we going to the rookery?"
Miyuki knew what the rookery was, she had heard of it during her stay, but she had yet to ride a roc.
"It's a drink that keeps you from getting stomach sick," Lin explained, "And we're going to the rookery because we'll need a roc to get there."

"The rookery is where the rocs stay when they're not being used," Earendil added to Lin's explanation, just to make it a bit clearer for Miyuki. "It's easier for them to have people mount them there rather than on the ground."
He was a bit iffy about the flight, it would be his first since Haldia had left and he wasn't certain about his stomach. He was just hoping the drink would work properly.

Of course she knew what a rookery was, but it didn't occur to her they would get to ride a roc!
"But why did ada drink some malek?"

Earendil smiled and put one hand on Miyuki's head. "Yes, we're going to ride a roc. And I have to drink malek because I get airsick. When I ride a roc, it makes my stomach sick. The malek prevents this. And I made sure to ask for extra with for later, or just in case it happens to someone else."
He was fairly certain it wouldn't, that the others would be fine, but one never knew.
"Now come, we're going to make Captain Striate wait for us."

Taking her ada's hand and then her Mommy's hand, Miyuki nodded at this as she followed them both down to where the rookery was. Since she did not know the way, this was a part of the castle she had not been in, even though her Mommy would allow her to explore, Miyuki would rather play with the children in the city when she had spare time.
The rookery was an amazing thing for a little girl like her. She couldn't help but keep looking up once they got there.

The rookery, much like a giant birdcage nearly the size of the castle itself, was almost void of birds when the three arrived there. Skyel was roosting on the mounting platform, and Aurin was already in the process of strapping on the harnesses that they would have to wear to keep safe.
"Are you all ready?" the captain grinned at them as he tightened some of the straps.
"I think so," Earendil replied. Skyel turned her enormous head towards the voices, looking at them all through eyes bigger than even Earendil.
