Streamjumper to pick a flower Streamjumper to pick a flower Streamjumper to pick a flower laaame. people who have ranma listed in their interest totals a little over 1k. naruto? over 97 thousand. There's something horribly wrong with a nearly 20 year old series that started its US release schedule something like 14-16 years ago being less popular than the new hotness that started its run in Japan about 4 years ago and its US run a year ago? Especially when most of Gaia was born right around when Ranma came to the US. Tell me, do you also find it rational to seriously lament the lack of Leave it to Beaver fans when compared to stuff like American Idol? Ranma is a great show, but you have to take into account that it is indeed dated in terms of animation, dub/translation conventions (both on the dub and sub), humor, and appeal. A lot of its fanbase (myself included) will openly admit that a large part of their persisting love for it has to do with the fact that when they first started watching it, it was one of the only titles coming out in the US, and probably the only long running title at its time. ahaha. i only looked it up because i found my ranma vhs tapes. 27 in total. whee i was like.. 7 or 8 when i first saw ranma.. i know its a really old anime, but maaan. i half thought that with everyone so into inu yasha that they'd have at least looked into ranma. 1K people? lul i'm torrenting the entire series as we speak. 31 gig. so worth it. Or.... you could buy the boxed sets and give Rumiko your money for one of her best shows. i bought 27 vhs tapes for like 30$ a piece already. thats over 800 dollars of my (parents XD) money in grade school for like.. parts of 4 or 5 different seasons and one movie. she got her box set x6. 27 VHS's? That's about 3 seasons. 3 of the 7 seasons, not even half of the broadcast material. And one of two movies and 12 ova eps. Not even half the material. Closer to a third. Grab it if you believe you must, but given the AG's origin you're in the wrong place to be casual about it or argue that you're entitled. More than a few of us here have bought just about the entire series on VHS... solely with our own money, and we wouldn't even begin to rationalize downloading it. Hell, a few of us actually own cells from it, theoretically owning far more of the series than most ever will, and I'd bet good gold they wouldn't consider themselves covered as far as downloading it. Heh. I've seen cel collectors rationalize with the best (worst?) of fandom over their 'right' to pirate anime but I've never heard any use the argument that because they bought cels from the series that was enough. It's kind of amazing that despite the fact that you'll find some dense people in every niche, everyone knows they're not helping the creators at all by buying cels (unless it's VHD:B because those cels came out via agreement that was planned out beforehand.) Of course, I stopped reading every single post on the boards a few years back, so who knows what's been used as an argument now? I still regret not buying one of those cels of Ranma wearing black I saw when a huge hoard of them with backgrounds came out way back when. Those ones looked really nice to me for some reason.

So like, back when Ranma was first out on DVDs I had thought about getting it before. I never did..though I did read the first manga to it. It seemed interesting enough but I'm skeptical about getting/seeing it because I don't know if I'll like it due to the not liking Inuyasha.
