"They," lawl. The evil Hollywood boogeymen are out to rape your childhood, Pointdexter. Run and hide. Spike Jonze is the director of Adaptation, Being John Malkovitch, and one of the most highly respected music video directors in the business.

Technologist Tony Stark
A few things:

Nick: I'm reading Survivor and picked up Rant in the same trip. 8D

Jaeger: I finally saw Redbelt. Made of complete ******** and I'm assuming it's got your approval since half of it is your life story and you probably owe someone a lawsuit. Where to next?

Random assortment I heard a rumour that since the director of Twilight has passed on the sequel several high profile names have thrown their hats into the ring including Drew Barrymore and Guillermo Del Toro

Also I am already excited about 2009 in a big way.

Newest reccomendations from the video store guy: Milk, Blindness, I Want Candy, Redbelt, Children of Men

Heh, good stuff. I picked up Haunted last Friday, actually, and started re-reading. The 'Choke' movie and our conversation reminded me how much I loved it.

Guillermo Del Toro? Ugh. I'd hate to see him taint his wonderful filmography with that drek.

Inglorious Basterds looks great. Tarintino has been hit-and-miss lately, and Eli Roth's involvement had me a little concerned (s**t director, s**t actor.) but the trailer reaffirmed my belief that it's an awesome idea.

I don't ******** care who the director is.

Horton Hears a Who....s**t.
Transformers....s**t.

Have you see their ideas for Voltron? It's on Earth and THE LIONS ARE IN AMERICA AND MEXICO!!!! KEITH, LANCE, AND COMPANY SHOULDN'T HAVE TO MAKE A ******** RUN FOR THE BORDER TO DEFEAT A ROBEAST!!!

*brain aneurysm* stressed

Do we classify Watership Down as a kids book? Does that make Lord of the Flies one too? That doesn't sound totally right. gonk

So did I... So maybe it is?

And yes, the Watership Down animated film is a very good adaptation; but it was treated as something more then a toy selling device.

Transformers and Voltron was always meant to sell toys. Doesn't mean the stories are any less "valid", but it makes for a very different marketing intent that shouldn't really come as a surprise.

It's not that they're just making these into movies...they're making them into really, really horrible movies. Especially the Seuss ones. Books like those and Where the Wild Things Are are not made to sustain the plot of full length movie.

Oh and I will add The Princess Bride....

I don't care what anyone says,...that movie is light years better than the book.
