The pair kept moving along, having now reached the end of their trek across Route 30.
“Alright,” Scarlet started, staring at the gaping mouth of a pitch black cave before them. “You know we’re not going in there, right?”
Cindy let out a sigh of relief, nodding at the sign posted next to that ravenous maw of pure darkness and hate.
“… Dark Cave? Makes sense… It is all… Dark… And stuff…” So, Scarlet spun on his heel to the right, jabbing a finger westward. “So! We proceed onward! To uh… BELL TOWER.”
Cindy almost started giggling. Bell Tower? The place with all the Bellsprout? The ones that are flammable? Then she did let out a giggle, and she ran forth as fast as her little legs could carry her, with Scarlet right on her heels.

The Buizel growled and shook himself, jumping back as he glared at the Lombre. He was painfully aware of how much those grass-type attacks hurt, and he also had no intentions of loosing any more of his precious stamina to this strange looking Pokemon. Katie narrowed her eyes as well, looking to Miles. 'These brats think they're so smart,' she thought angrily, holding back the urge to call back both Kord and Miles and unleashing Genki and his fiery fury upon both of their obnoxious Pokemon. "Type match ups aren't everything," she told the twins in an annoyed tone. "Just you wait. Miles, use Water Sport and make sure you soak that Lombre good! Kord, when he's done you give him the zap of his life with a Thundershock!"
It took the Buizel and Elekid a moment to catch on to their trainer's plan, though once they did they both followed through with their commands quickly. Miles opened his mouth and spat out a wide spray of water all over the Lombre. Before it could react Kord had jumped up and loosed a bolt of electricity from his prongs. The Lombre cried out as the shock went through him and he staggered back, wincing in pain. Kord and Miles both gave wide grins and gave each other a high five, and Katie giggled.
"Nuzleaf, hit them with a Razor Leaf!" Mimi shouted, her hands balled up into angry fists. "No one hurts my sister's Pokemon and gets away with it!" The Nuzleaf let out a growl and jumped up, sending a volley of sharp leaves spiraling towards Katie's two Pokemon. Kord managed to jump back and avoid being hit but Miles wasn't so lucky. The Buizel cried out in pain as he received many little cuts all over his body, and he backed away from the Nuzleaf, panting a little, but not ready to quit just yet.

By the time the epic struggle of hair versus comb was over, his clothes were dry and the ding of the dryer made him jump. It seems like everything and its grandmother is gonna startle me now, he thought irritably as he pulled on his clean and dry boxer shorts, frowning yet again as he realized he didn't even remember his own grandparents, if he even had any. He'd started to put his jeans on but the tattered leg caught his attention, and after a few moments of thought he grabbed a pair of scissors and hacked off the ragged ends until it was somewhat even, and he'd been about to put them on before he realized it still looked incredibly stupid. He uttered a mild curse word as he lied them out flat on the floor once again and cut until both sides were even.
"There!" he declared once he'd put on his brand-new-but-not-really cutoff jean shorts, and he pulled his white tee shirt over his head as well. He'd dumped his single sock and shoe into the trash can as he figured he would never see their mates ever again and looked at himself in the mirror once more. Well, he thought, trying to look on the bright side, at least I'm not ugly... He frowned at his reflection and put his hands down on the counter, staring at the drain of the sink. He was once again annoyed that he couldn't remember his name, and he idly looked around the bathroom as though it would give him some sort of inspiration. Johnson? he thought, reading the label of one of the shampoo bottles, and he laughed, shaking his head. He was somehow sure that Johnson was not his name, but he kept it in mind anyway, figuring he'd probably have to give himself a new name at some point. He didn't want to be called 'Hey You' or 'Kid', especially by the Professor. He made sure to mop up the water from the floor before he hung up his towel and headed back out into the lab, jacket slung over his shoulder as he looked around cautiously for the professor.
At this point the mustached man was nowhere to be found and the blonde boy made his way back to the plastic chair he'd been previously sitting in, feeling a lot sturdier than he had when Rowan had first brought him in. He slung his jacket over the back of his chair and grabbed his paper cup, and went over and filled it up with cool water once more. This time he downed it all in a single gulp and refilled it again, finishing this one in record time as well. Though he now felt significantly more hydrated than before, his stomach was now giving an ominous rumble and he wondered if he'd be able to find something to eat...

"Are you ready, Flora?" Amethyst Maple asked once more as she settled against a tree trunk. The two were currently at Route 31, having found a nice patch of quiet space to practice their coordinating.
"Chiko!" Flora replied cheerfully, hopping up and down. "Chikorita!"
"All right!" Amy smiled, sitting up some. "You know what to do! Poisonpowder, then Razor Leaf!"
"Chikoo!" the Leaf Pokemon cried before she leapt into the air, leaf turning into a tell-tale purple. She spun with as much grace as possible, releasing a cloud of purple dust. Now, the Chikorita flipped, leaf glowing as she released a flurry of leaves that spun into the cloud. As expected, they continued through, leaving trails of purple in the atmosphere.
"Very nice!" Amy called, clapping. The poisonous vapor trails really did leave a nice effect, and it was some of the best they could do with four moves available. The way the Poisonpowder caught the sunlight was something Amy made a mental note of, only to be broken from her thoughts by Flora.
"Chiko!" Flora charged from the grassy path into the dirt road that lead to the next city. With another squeal, the Chikorita was face to face with a charging Cyndaquil, smiling brightly as Cindy probably ran her down.
"Scarlet!" Amy cheered, rushing over to the Pokemon and the red-headed trainer. "How're you?" While waiting for an answer, Amy crouched down to Cindy, petting the Cyndaquil's head. "Hi, Cindy! You look especially cute today!"

“Quil! Quil! Quil!” Cindy shrieked, barely managing to bring herself to a stop before she would’ve accidentally trampled the larger Chikorita. Or run into it and fall on her butt. After a second of furious blinking, Cindy realized that she recognized her. She turned back to Scarlet, pointing furiously at Flora, almost excitedly.
“Huh?” Scarlet glanced up from his overly excited Cyndaquil, only to notice Amy approaching. He shut his eyes, concentrating, trying his hardest to reject what instinct told him to do. Don’t ask to battle don’t ask to battle she hates battling so don’t ask to battle. “Hi, Amy! We’re doing great! Cindy might’ve given a Hoothoot a heart attack!”
Cindy beamed at Amy, apparently very proud of her ability to frighten birds that stand on one leg.
“How’s the whole contest thing going for you guys? Any luck yet?”

"Go you, Cindy!" Amy giggled, before she looked up at Scarlet, smiling a little. "We've been practicing, but we haven't really entered a contest yet..." The girl stood, still smiling. "Are you gonna take on Falkner?"
Meanwhile, Flora was happily chirping at Cindy, apparently telling some story of how she's been practicing and how she missed her good friend Cyndaquil but how she didn't really care for Totodile and a bunch of other things. After a long series of chirps, the Leaf Pokemon let out a half-hearted "Rita!"

When Robin finally made it back out of breath she stood there panting for breath while Tony tossed her Black*Stars pokeball again. "Release your pokemon Robin."
"All right." The redhead managed to gasp before releasing Black*Star. Upon being released Black*Star let out a happy cry, though it wasn't accompanied by his usually active entrance. "Hey there Black*Star? Are you feeling better?" Robin asked giving her pokemon a big grin. The small Totodile snorted before crossing his arms across his chest and looking away. "Ok, ok I get it you weren't ever hurt. Still you took quite a beating in that battle that you won." Robin grinned as she looked down at her cute little Totodile.
"So this is your Totodile huh? Well he seems to be in a better condition than what I thought I would be dealing with." Tony grinned as he studied the small pokemon. Reaching for one of his pokeballs he unclipped it and released his Espeon. The pretty psychic pokemon just blinked in the morning sun before turning towards her trainer waiting for her instructions. "Good morning cutie pie. I hope your up for helping me out with this Totodile here." The small purple pokemon let out a soft mew before it looked over at Black*Star.
On the ground Black*Star was eying the Espeon before he looked up at Robin. "Hey its ok. That's Tony Tony, he's my new Master. He is going to help me give you some physical therapy so that you can start battling sooner. Does that sound good to you?"
Start battling again? That sounded awesome! Of course he wanted to start battling sooner. Looking up at Robin he gave her a big crocodile grin full of teeth.
"Well it looks like you two are ready to go. I am going to walk you through the basic bits of training while Espeon over here is going to spend a little time in your Totodile's mind in order to judge just how skilled he is. She will be doing this with each of your pokemon and then she will let me know how we can set a training schedule with them. "
"Sounds good to me Master!" Robin grinned as she hopped up pumping a fist into the air. She really didn't understand what all he had said but she was sure it would help.

“Fraid not. … Not yet, anyway. We’re gonna train up some decent partners first. Me and Cindy are headed up to Sprout Tower now. Where’re you and Flora off to?” Scarlet honestly had no clue how that Super Contest thing worked, but he was pretty sure there wasn’t a place for it in every city.
In the mean time, Cindy barked, informing Flora that she’d missed her too. Cindy also mentioned that she wished she’d been training as hard as Flora, but she’d get to that too. The Cyndaquil also let her friend know that she wasn’t a big fan of that Totodile either.
It was at that moment that the sound of something approaching mach one flew overhead. “Totoooooooo~” A light blue blur crashed down from the sky. And landing in a slight crouch was a “Totooodile!” He waved energetically at Scarlet and Amy as what Scarlet thought was an oddly large and long haired Pidgey landed beside him.
And Cindy slowly turned to face Vector the Totodile, growling. However, she cheered up considerably when a teenager with long, flowing blue hair skipped over. “Hiya, Cindy! Flora! Amy! … Scarlet.”

"Well, I think I'll go to Goldenrod and take the train somewhere..." Amy frowned thoughtfully. "I did hear something about a contest in Cerulean... Kanto... you know, Scarlet, I'll miss you--"
Then something fell from the sky, eliciting a brief, but shrill, shriek from the Maple girl. She looked at the newcomer and smiled after a moment. "Hiya, Cyan."
"Chiko!" Flora squeaked, glaring at Vector. This was the Totodile she was not very fond of, but she was a nice Pokemon, so she let out an apologetic "Rita." and managed a smile. Or, whatever Chikoritas did for smiling, anyhow.
"How've you been?" Amy asked politely, adjusting her glasses once more.

He still had no idea where the professor had gone off to, and after figuring that he couldn't cause too much harm, decided to go looking for the kitchen. He found it without too much difficulty, though he stopped and stared at it in shock and awe. There was a massive pile of dirty dishes littering the counter and it looked like the kitchen in general hadn't been cleaned in a week. I guess he's not a clean freak, the boy thought, looking around in dismay. He did spot a fruit bowl sitting on top of the microwave, and he walked over to it, examining it closely. The fruit was still quite fresh, strangely enough, and he picked up an apple, turning it over in his hands to discern that it wasn't made of wax or plastic. He raised it to his lips and smelled it, feeling his mouth water and his stomach churn, practically begging him to devour it whole.
He'd been about to take a bite when he stopped himself, suddenly pulling it away from him like it were a grenade missing its pin. His eyes were comically wide and he blinked a few times, another wave of panic coursing through him. What... what if I'm allergic to apples and I eat this and I go into anaphylactic shock and there are no Epi-pens handy? he thought desperately. What if I'm allergic to other things? What if I have asthma? What if... his crazed thoughts were cut off by an angry rumble of protest from his stomach, and he sighed, shaking his head. He couldn't just stand here and not eat, that was silly! He sighed and weighed his options before finally deciding to bite the bullet, or in this case, the apple. It made a satisfying crunching sound as he bit into it. I guess I'd be more worried about the professor yelling at me than of being allergic, he thought, closing his eyes as he took another bite. Since he couldn't remember ever eating anything else in his life, this was possibly the best apple he'd ever had.
It took only a few short seconds for him to reduce the apple to a skinny core and he added it to the already-heaping trash can as he did so. He felt a lot better after eating just the apple though he chose to wait a bit before eating something else. He looked around the filthy kitchen and scowled before putting on a determined expression, and within ten minutes he'd cleaned the sinks, filled one with hot, soapy water and was currently making a rather large dent in Dirty Dish Mountain as he washed, rinsed and stacked clean dishes in the dish rack.

Rowan had gotten a decent amount of work done and he was starting to wonder where that kid had gotten to. Getting up from his chair Rowan started to look around for the kid and as he was looking for him he started to hear some clattering around in the kitchen. Heading over to his kitchen he looked inside and was greeted with an interesting sight. The boy was doing dishes for him. oh he was starting to like this boy a lot more. Stepping into the room Rowan cleared his throat. "Thank you for doing the dishes. However I do have a favor to ask you."
~~~~~~~
As Robin, Black*Star, Tony Tony and Espeon were busy going through the basic motions of helping Black*Star get back into fighting shape. As they worked Tony started to talk testing Robin on her pokemon. "In order to be a good trainer you need to know everything about your pokemon. Since your Totodile is out lets start with that one. Tell me all you know about Totodile."
"Umm." Robin groaned as she racked her mind as she tried to remember everything she knew about Totodiles. She had never researched them and she really hardly remembered what the pokedex said. "Ah, let's see, Totodile is a water type pokemon." She was fairly confident that they were. "Ah, they are also one of the three pokemon beginning trainers can get in Johto! Um, lets see, he's blue and red. Ah..." Robin wracked her mind trying to think of something else to say.
Meanwhile Tony was amazed that Robin had made it as far as she had with this limited amount of information on her pokemon. Her pokemon must be pretty amazing if this is what they had to put up with.
He had gotten himself into quite a rhythm and was just washing up the last of the large saucepans when Rowan came into the room, and he probably wouldn't have heard him had the professor not cleared his throat loudly. The poor boy jumped yet again, causing the pan to clatter loudly against the sink but he was able to snatch it up before it fell to the ground. "Oh, sorry about that," he said quickly, rinsing the pot and placing it on the rack. He emptied the water out of the sink and dried his hands on the dish towel before turning to face the professor. "Uh, if I overstepped here, I'm sorry. I was hungry and I grabbed an apple, and it seemed wrong to eat and not do anything in return," he said quickly, his stomach rumbling again as though to prove a point. "Yeah." He scratched the back of his head and shifted uncomfortably on his bare feet. "I felt bad not doing anything in return, after all the help you've given me," he said finally, still feeling like a major idiot.
“Oh, we’ve been great. Haven’t we been great, Vector?” Cyan flipped her hair back behind her ears, lips curling back in a grin.
But she didn’t get an answer from Vector. He was busy sizing up Flora. After all, he already knew he could take out Cindy, if he ever had to. But nooooo. Cyan wouldn’t let him take that arrogant hedgehog… Mouse… Thing… down a peg. Vector thoughtfully tapped himself on the chin. What WAS Cindy? It didn’t LOOK like a rattata… So it had to be a hedgehog. Then again, Vector was sure she didn’t know spin dash- Oh yeah. He had to size up the actual threat. Red eyes locked onto the plant… dinosaur… … Now, Vector was just confused. “… Totodiiiiile?” What are you?
“Yeeeeeah. We’ve been doing totally awesome.”
Scarlet glared over at Cyan, whistling sharply. Cindy ran over to his side, glaring angrily at Vector. “So… How many badges have you got?”
“Three!” She cheerfully returned, as her Totodile began poking the leaf sprouting atop Flora’s head. “You, Scarlet?” Cyan smirked. She already knew the answer.
“… We’re about to get one. So.” Scarlet tugged down the skin under his right eye, sticking out his tongue. “And Amy’s about to be the greatest contest champion in the history of contest champions.” Scarlet closed his eyes, smirking, quite proud of himself and his BFF. When he opened them, however…
“Aww, look at you, Cindy, you’re so adorable!” Cyan picked up the little Cyndaquil, nuzzling her with her cheek. “Scarlet hasn’t made you lose with his utter ineptitude, has he?”
Cindy giggled. Scarlet’s bottom lip started quivering.
Flora turned her attention back to Vector with another little smile. She blinked once and looked up at Amy, before returning back to reality. "Chiko!" I'm the Leaf Pokemon. Amy's Dex says that!
"Congratulations on your three badges, Cyan!" Amy smiled brightly, but her smile faltered a little at the 'greatest coordinator ever' bit. "W-well, I'm not sure about the greatest... but maybe I can be a pretty good one..."
Flora tilted her head, before she stepped forward and patted the Totodile's head with her leaf. "Chiko!" How've you been?
"I'm sure Scarlet and Cindy have been making one good team," Amy said, almost a little defensively. "A-and they'll have no problem beating Falkner!" She nodded once, adjusting her glasses. "Just like I'm sure you did! Vector looks all big and strong since I've seen him last!" Her niceness won the best of her, and the girl crouched to the Totodile, shaking his little paw.
Doing his dishes was a bad thing? This kid must be really jumpy if he thought he was doing something wrong. "Doing the dishes is never a bad thing." He said after a moment. Looking at the boy Rowan watched him shift nervously and he raised a bushy eyebrow as his stomach growled. "I need you to run an errand for me." Reaching into his one of his pockets he pulled out a shrunken pokeball and tossed it over towards the kid. "You are going to take a pokemon with you since your going to be going through the grass. You are also going to need shoes." Rowan meant that as a bit of a joke but he was sure it didn't come out like that. "Anyway I have an old friend who lives in Twinleaf town, its just down the way, I need you to deliver something to him. Don't open it." Rowan didn't think the kid would but it couldn't hurt to mention it. Reaching into his other pocket he pulled out a letter and a small box. "Here you go. If you do this right I might consider making you my assistant."
~~~~~~
"Thats all you know girl?" Tony really couldn't believe it. This girl was pushing the limits on stupidity and dumb luck. "You really do need to at least study the pokemon that you travel with." Shaking his head Tony decided to add more information to the girls lacking one. "What you said is true, Totodile's are water types and they are the water starter for Johto. They and there line, you do know it evolves two times right?" Robin shook her head in a no as she stretched Black*Stars leg, for some reason Tony wasn't surprised. "Yes well they can evolve twice, from Totodile into Croconaw and from Croconaw into Feralgatr. They are known for their strong jaw and powerful attack and defensive power. They are pretty impressive since they can learn a variety of moves that can hurt the types they are weak to."
"Wow Totodiles sure are impressive! I mean I knew Black*Star was strong but I never knew he could be that strong!" Robin stared with wide blue eyes down at her pokemon she was helping. Black*Star had a happy look on his face, it was probably because he was hearing about how strong he was. "Anything else?"
"When I said they and their evolutions have strong jaws I really mean that they do. It's final evolution has been known to accidentally kill others in battle if they are unlucky enough to get caught in it's jaws. If you are skilled enough though to handle your pokemon though that should never happen. Also while they are not fast on a whole they have lightening fast reflexes. If something gets close they should watch out because this line will strike hard."
"Black*Star knows Dragon Dance. That should help him with his speed right?" Robin was curious, she had seen Black*Star do a lot of damage with is Dragon Dance.
Oh so she did know somethings, Dragon Dance on the Totodile line? That would be really powerful if used right. "Yes, Dragon Dance would be really very useful, if you use it even once you will have a huge advantage. Still you have to be careful with this pokemon. They are vicious and if you don't have their respect they will turn against their trainer."
