It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Cryptmas!

Monday Morning, with mid-terms and the Fangsgiving Howliday behind them, the student bodies of Monster High all started to file into the school. They were all buzzing, talking about their freakends and their plans for the upcoming week.

The football team were all on edge; this week would be their last game of the season, against Belfry Tech.

Two of Monster High's New Student Ambassadors, Layla LaMia and Kai Merha, awaited the arrival of the two new student bodies. They would help the new students navigate the sometimes-confusing coffin corridors.

The hottest (or maybe, coldest) topic of conversation, though, was the snowfall that had drifted down gently from Sunday evening through to Monday moaning. The normally green/brown grounds of Monster High were covered in a soft, four-inch blanket of snow.

Winter had finally arrived.

Kai stood next to Layla on the steps of the school, straining to see either Peggy or Harry. He was holding a 'Monster High Nightmares' banner as a gift for Peggy, who it was decided he'd be showing around the school and shadowing for the day to help her get acclimated. Layla would be shadowing Harry, and she was trying to get information from Kai about the new boo.

"No, he's nice. Really nice." Kai tried to describe Harry to Layla. "Really passionate about the environment and social justice. Likes hackey-sack."

"Hack...e...sssack?" Layla asked, looking at Kai like he'd just swallowed a bug. "What is that? Is it kidnapping Mr. Hack and putting him into a sack?"

"No. Hah! No!" Kai held back a laugh. Her aristrocratic upbringing meant that Layla hadn't been hexposed to some of the simpler things in un-life. She and Harry were going to make an interesting pair. "It's a game. Played with a small ball. I'm sure Harry will show you if you ask him. He's also trying to get together a little event for the freakend - a fearstival!"

"Oh yesss?" Layla asked, her ears perking up. "Sssounds interesssting."

"Should be. We're going to get the band back together for it!"

Somewhere, walking on the way to school, a terrible, intense chill ran up Nero's spine and he had no idea why.

"Ssso, before Peggy and Harry get here..." Layla looked at Kai, idly twirling the stick of the banner she was holding to give to Harry. "Why don't you tell me about your trip to New Goreleansss? Anything interesssting happen?"

Kai grinned and took a deep, deep breath.

Roswell Grey

PostPosted: Mon Aug 11, 2014 2:00 pm

Roswell walked with a pep in his step, snow was one of his favorite things on this planet with all the wonderful things that could happen. He loved the feel and fun of it all.

So when he saw the school grounds covered with it, he was excited to play!

"Heath! Heads up!" A snow ball thrown by Roswell was hurling at his bluddy.
Heath wasn't surprised, after all he was friends with Abbey Bomidable was was used to snow and flying snowballs at him. He quickly ducked.

The snow ball landed on an unsuspecting ghoul.
Melody Nocturna

"UhOH BRO! Guess you'll be eating lunch alone! HAHAHAHA-AH!!" Heath began to laugh at both Roswell and Melody. He was laughing so hard he slipped and fell into freezing cold fountain. "Brr!"

"Not nice to laugh at ghouls." Abbey said, walking past the fountain, scolding Heath, and shaking her head. She promptly, froze him in place.

"Sorry..." He mumbles though the ice.

"Aww Melody!" Roswell ran over to her, brushing off the snow from her back. "Sorry, you weren't the target of that. You alright?" He hoped she was't too mad.

Kai Merha

Kai grinned and took a deep, deep breath.

Layla smiled as she turned from gazing out at the arriving students, to sneak a peek at Kai's sign and she shook her head.

"Now I wissh I had done sssomething more sssimple, like that. Inssstead of thisss."

She sighed, holding up a small gift bag adorned with colorful ribbon, and inside, a little 'welcoming' kit including a gift card to the Coffin Bean.

"I think I overdid it again. I would jussst like for him to enjoy hisss firssst day. I remember what my own wasss like."

She huddled her arms tighter around herself as her serpentine tail coiled inward around her lower half. Layla, like all lamia, came from a desert region, and so the winter months were her least favorite. She huffed out a breath, playfully watching her breath become visible in the cold air, before she smiled at Kai with a coy twinkle in her eye.

"Am I to asssume your sssilence meansss you had another adventure you can not ssspeak about?"

Motthew Clendenin

Distinct Seeker

PostPosted: Mon Aug 11, 2014 4:39 pm

Motthew smiled as he fluttered through the snowfall, keeping the heavy flakes from laying too heavy on his wings. Walking would have helped, but he always felt it was so much easier to fly! Plus, it was more fun.

He landed beside a tree, shaking the snow that built up in his hair an on his antenna. He smiled, pulling his hood up and walking towards the school. Everyone seemed to really be enjoying the weather. He chuckled, snow was really fun to play in! Motthew could remember starting snowball fights with the werewolves back home. He sighed with a smile, remembering the fun they had as walked.

He looked around over his sunglasses and smiled. Already, a heated match between the alien and the flame guy sparked things. He chuckled as he watched them.

Tori walked to the way, way, waaa,y back of her cave, opening a small door that led her into the catacombs. Once in side she pulled out her icoffin, and looked at all the updates, some from the Ghostly Gossip she flicked through, but most where from Vanissha's Critter account. There were several that made her laugh.

"She still doesn't get they are twin siblings..?" Tori shook her head at the claim that Dashner cloned himself on account of he could choose a gender for himself. She sighed.

"OH! Dear Flowers!" She gasped at her other messages. "Huh?? "Dashconnie leaves Sandy Slender in the dust riding new Pegasus ghoul?" What? I need to call Sally right away!"

*RIINNGGG!!*

"Hello? Sally? It's Tori. I think we need to talk. Meet me at the Catacombs?"

(from the catacombs)

Sally nodded. She smiled at her friend, even if she couldn't see it. Tori did really seemed concerned for her. Sally tilted her head, maybe thats just how friends are? She couldn't tell for sure, especially since Jewels was caught up in her own troubles, so she had no means of comparison. She just let it go and nodded, patting Tori's shoulder.

"Thank you, Tori. You are kind to worry about me." she nodded and looked ahead as they walked through the front doors of the school, "Yes! Freaky fun sounds fangtastic!" She smiled again at her friend. She was really getting the hang of the lingo of the other monsters.

Moanday, the dawn of a new week symbolizing new life awakening in the-

Harry yawned fumbled around his room. The lava lamp bubbled happily by his bed and Jareth was preening while watching the young boo. He pulled on his clothes and looked out the window. Harry smiled as snow fell from the sky. It was a beautiful Winter day and it was time to shake up the new school!

"Later, Jareth. Behave yourself."

"Though nothing, nothing will keep us together. We can beat them, for ever and ever"

"Er, sure, dude. Sure."

Harry shook his head as left the doom to met his guide. Weird bird...fun though. As Harry headed downstairs, he couldn't help but smile at two things. One, every boo and ghoul were wrapped up because of the cold. Having spent time in the Winter Court, the cold here wouldn't bother Harry at all.

The other thing that made Harry smile was the diversity! Monsters from all cultures and planes of existence have come together! This would be a powerful place to push his favorite clawses! Harry caught sight of Kai and...a lamia girl! SO GROOVY!

"Good morn, fellow cosmic travellers! Are we grooving this bootiful Winter day?"

"And I know the perfect way to start our Freaky fun! Vanissha's not the most reliable with rumors of other people but one thing is for sure. She knows her party's."

Tori nodded showing Sally her icoffin with a school wide invatation Vanissha sent to all her followers.

"Looks like there's going to be a party this freakend. How about you and I go together?" She smiled brightly.

"Hmmm... I wonder who's party is really is." She put a finger to her chin.

Sally looked at Tori's iCoffin and tilted her head. She nodded, "Sure, that sounds fun." she smiled to herself.

She looked at Tori and tilted her head, "Is it not even her party?" she asked.

Ronan Aalto

PostPosted: Tue Aug 12, 2014 4:00 am

It may have been snowing, but that wasn't going to deter Ronan from his morning ritual. He rose at dawn, as he always seemed to and opened the window to let Colridge back into the room, where the bird took to preening itself and glaring at the new bird Jareth.

Then while his two companions slept, the Selkie boo dressed and headed out for his morning swim.

He liked the cold, it reminded him of home. Not that Gnaway had been home for quite a number of years, but there was a comfortable familiarity to the winter weather.

Unlike many of his school mates, Ronan hadn't bothered to wrap up particularly warm. He didn't much feel the cold anyway, and the blanket of white that shrouded the school was far too distracting. Snow always made everything look so different and already it seemed a few snow ball fights had started. Ronan did his best to avoid walking through the battleground.

"Good morning Motthew." Ronan waved to the moth boo as he passed.

Jewels wasn't a huge fan of snow. It was cold, it was wet, it rapidly turned into muddy slush as monsters trudged across it. She vastly preferred the predictable relative dry-ness of her underground home. Up here on the surface it seemed the roof was prone to leaks.

She walked carefully, trying not to slip on the icy ground as she made her way across campus.

"Tori!Sally!" she hastened to catch up with her two friends and skidded across the ice, tumbling head over heels into the new boo, Harry.

Draconia St George
Crew

Beloved Friend

PostPosted: Tue Aug 12, 2014 7:55 am

Draconia shivered a bit as she saw the snow hit the windshield of Glen's S-Boo-V as they drove up to the school. Normally, she was fine with walking to school from the Looking Glass, but the temperature had dropped so drastically over the freakend that she had jumped at Glen's offer to drive them both. She was slightly cold-blooded, like all dragons, and the cold made her wings ache. She would have to take Hellene up on that offer for hand-knitted wing cozies, and soon.

"And then, La Fuega, she just DESTROYED Swimma, Drakie! It was the beast match I've ever seen! Five stars! A plus! A billion thumbs up! Oh, I wish you could have seen it!"

"Well..."
Draconia mused. "I was there - in spirits, you know."

"Well, you better be at the next event for La Fuega's first title defense." Glen replied.

"I will be, for sure." Draconia hid a smile. The Lucha code Manny and Chase had instilled in her made being La Fuega feel like a superheroic secret identity, just like Dead Fast or Supermanster. She was beginning to enjoy the idea of an identity where she could cut loose without fear of being embarrassed.

"I need to have Chase make up to me not sitting by me during the event, too." Glen replied, a bit poutily. "I know he was busy coordinating everything at the farm, but would it have killed him to at least join me for the pain event?"

"It would have been a bit difficult." Draconia replied, practically. "But I'm sure he'll find a way to make it up to you."

"You bet! Double date, you and Manny with the two of us! How 'bout that?" Glen gave a happy little honk on his horn, which was oddly small and squeaky-sounding for such a giant vehicle.

"Well, I'd enjoy that a lot, but you know Manny and I aren't dating, Glen. We're just friends."

"Yeah, but-"

"And really, it's not fair to him or me that we give that impression to people. We had a long talk about it at the event, actually. And it was a real talk, not just me saying things at him and him hearing 'blah blah ghoul stuff' and him talking back at me and me hearing 'snort snort boo stuff.'"

"But you and Manny!"
Glen took his eyes off the road to give Draconia the saddest were-cub eyes he could muster. But on this, Draconia would not budge.

"Eyes on the road, Glen. You're almost on the sidewalk."
A couple of students dove out of the way as Glen righted the SBooV. "And the truth is, we're happier being friends. I know that there's the right ghoul for Manny out there somewhere and I'll be happy when they finally find each other."

Glen gave a little bit of a huff, but then relented.

"Well, okay. As long as you're both happy about it." Glen pulled up to his parking spot at the school with a 'SCREECH' of the wheels and came to a hard stop. "And that's all fine about him finding the right ghoul, but what about you?! Who's your Mister Fright?"

"Bloody bats, Glen, I haven't given it a single thought!" Draconia replied, flipping her hair back from her face, where it'd fallen after Glen's sudden stop. "With mid-terms and Fangsgiving and drama with Perry and seeing my parents off yesterday, my love un-life has been rather at the back of my mind. Don't worry about it."

The two of them exited the car and Draconia stretched her wings.

"Anyway, I'm going to class a bit early. I want to talk to Mr. Where about some ideas I have for putting on a masked drama. See you at lunch?"

"Sure thing...." Glen replied, seemingly lost in thought. He watched Draconia retreat and a smile crossed his green face. "Don't worry about it, Drakie! I'll find you a new boofriend just like I found you the old one! I mean, that worked out great, didn't it? Except for the fighting and the broken mirrors and the not dating anymore, of course....but otherwise, it worked out great!"

Monday Morning - Hartley residence:

"I'm sick... seriously." Perry tried to convince his mother but she wasn't having any of it. She rolled her eyes, sat on the foot of her son's bed and gave him "the look" that all mothers seemed to perfect.

Perry huffed. "mooooom." he whined.

"Peregrine Hartley, you are NOT sick young man. Stop this griping and get out of bed."

Perry winced, his mother seldom used his full name and this meant she really was annoyed.

"Please mom, don't make me go...
" He tried, looking truely pathetic as he gave her his best Bambi eyes.

That didn't work either. But his mother's expression softened slightly as she put a hand on his shoulder.

"Why don't you want to go to school?"

Perry gulped. His mother continued to stare at him.

"I just.. don't... "

"Not good enough young man."

"Alright alright... "
He reluctantantly explained the events of Saturday, carefully wording things so there was no wrestling and it was totally Hellene's project honest.

His mother looked skeptical but she nodded.

"Perry... You're being ridiculous"

Perry didn't think he was, and he sputtered a protest.

"No, you are. Now listen to me. Did anybody there seem to care?"

"Well... no?"

"So why do you think anyone else will?"

"Well.. because.. well... they just... "

"I'm certain your classmates have far more important things to gossip about."

"What, you don't think i'm popular enough to be the subject of gossip?"

His mother smiled softly. "I hate to say it... but no."

"Oh thanks mom."

She laughed. "Come on, get up and get ready for school. You'll see, nothing will have changed."

Perry wasn't totally sure he believed that, but this was a fight he wasn't going to win. He sighed.
"So... you guys really DID know didn't you?"

Again his mother laughed. "Of course we did, your father and I aren't stupid. well... I admit, that Vinnie girl did throw us a little, but we figured you were trying to throw us off."

Perry groaned. "Vinnie... " He'd been so wrapped up in his own angst, he'd rather forgotten about how much he'd upset the ghoul. He looked to his mother desperately. "You... know about ghouls right? How do I make it up to her?"

His mother shook her head. "You know i'm no good with things like this. Clearly you got your social skills from me."

The both laughed.

"thanks mom. "

"Perhaps your father will have some suggestions. Anyway.. the clock's ticking, are you going to get a shower or do I have to drag you?"

"i'm goin' i'm goin'!"

---

Later: School grounds

The snow just made Perry more reluctant to go to school, but his mother had a look on her face that suggested if he didn't get out of the car right now, she'd push him.

"remember, straight home as soon as the bell rings. You're still grounded."

Perry groaned, this whole grounded thing stank. The only exception he'd been able to negotiate was football practice, but beyond that, he could kiss goodbye to any social life for the next few weeks.

He trudged across the snowy school grounds, head lowered, thankful evermonster was so distracted by hurling snowballs at one another that nobody even noticed him.
That was until a snowball hit him in the back of the head.
He whirled around to yell at whoever threw it, straight into the grinning face of Nathair.

"What's your problem man?"

Nathair just snickered. "Bit highly strung this mornin' aren't ye?" He wrapped an arm around the Peryton's shoulder.

"Get off me." Perry wriggled away.

"So, I take it ye' fowl mood is due tae tha' whole... soap opera on saturday?"

Perry glared. "I take it you were there?"

"Nay, but I caught the vid."

Perry's heart sank. Video... they were filming it all.

Nathair patted him on the back. "cheer up, it's nay tha' bad. I mean ye can barely hear wha' ye sayin' over all the crowd. Tha ghoul a ye's though... " He whistled. "She looked fit tae pluck an roast ye."

"Yeah.. she's pretty steamed."

"Well have ye tried tae talk tae her?"

"I uh... I don't think that's gonna work man."

"Well ye never know. Not like ye tae get so chicken over wha' some ghoul might do."

"well, you don't know Vinnie."

Nathair laughed. "Come on, if she matters tae ye, talk tae her. Make it right."

"I don't even know where to start."

"A course ye don't. "
the naga rolled his eyes. "Well, ye use them things ye call legs, ye stroll on up tae her.... "

"This isn't helping."

"Then stop being an idiot. Listen, Perry, I love ye man... nay in tha way a course, but ye' me beast friend. I dinnae like tae see ye so wound up."

"So what would you, oh master hexpert of all things, suggest I do?"
Perry glared.

Nathair grinned. "glad ye asked! Well, firs', yet gotta try tae talk tae her. Enough a the assuming she gets wha' goes on in that wee birdy brain a yers"

"I'm NOT a bird."

Nathair's grin broadened. "See this is wha' i'm talkin' about man, ye take things so seriously. Ye gotta jus... chill out. The world isn't against ye alright? Unlife isn't all tha' bad." Nathair rose up on his tail, spreading all four arms wide.

"Oh please tell me you're not about to sing."

Nathair deflated a little. "But it was a real good inspirational song!" He protested.

"No... singing. I swear i'll hurl you into a snow drift."

"Fine, nay song. Anyway, where was I?"

"Vinnie."

"Right... so, tell her the truth, ALL a it. Explain yeself, appologise and tell her ye're an idiot."

"I'm not an idiot."

"Yes... ye are. If ye were't, ye wouldn't be in this mess."

"So this whole... beast friend thing?"

"Hey, beast friends dinnae sugar coat the truth. Ye need tae hear it."

Perry sighed. "And if that doesn't work?"

"We'll cross tha' bridge when we get tae it. In the meantime, cheer up. It's a beautiful winter's morn, fresh snow has fallen, monsters are fallin' over on the ice an there's plenty a snow to pummel one another with." Nathair reached down and scooped up two handfulls of snow.

"Oh this is hardly fair, you've got 2 more arms than me!"

"Aye, but ye're a lot faster than me. So.... DUCK!" He hurled a snowball right into Perry's face.

"Oh it is ON!" Perry dove to one side and scooped up a large pile of snow, quickly shaping it into a ball. "You're going down man!"

Nathair laughed. "Give it ye beast shot!"

"Tori!Sally!" she hastened to catch up with her two friends and skidded across the ice, tumbling head over heels into the new boo, Harry.

*SMACK!*

Kai winced as Harry and Jewels collapsed in a pile at the foot of the stairs leading in to Monster High. He looked at Layla, who quickly slithered down the steps to check on them. Kai followed, stepping carefully to avoid whatever icy patch seemed to have taken out Jewels.

"Whoa! Are you two okay?" Kai asked, offering his hand to Jewels, since she was the one (mostly) on top of their heap. "First day of snow blues!"
