I had a random thought.
What will we do if we suddenly go into another ice age?
-freaks out-
-runs around in panicked circles-

Haha. I'm not quite sure what I would do. Go as far south as I can and buy stock in winter apparel. Of course I would own like 15 winter jackets. I'm not a big fan of the cold.

Thanks Turayza. If you don't want to use it, I wont mind. Just a suggestion. biggrin

I'm not even sure what to think of the whole global warming situation. I try not to think to hard about this stuff right now. I enjoy every day as if it was my last with my little girl. I know that sounds wrong, I should be thinking about my environment and stuff. But my main concern right now is doing what I can to make sure she has what she needs right now.

That's a good way to live too.
Except...
We're setting up a world that's nearly broken for our children.
We actually have a chance to fix it.
But at the rate the Earth is 'deteriorating', or at least from our point of view, by the time the next generation comes about to even be old enough to try to fix the world, it'll be too late.
Unfortunately, that's the way it is.
And so we'd better save it now...
Especially considering that all these wonderful species will go up in flames (or in ice cubes) if we keep on going on the way we do.
Reminds of the series...Pretties, Uglies, Specials, Extras.
They have a world population of...a lot less.
Their cities are totally high-tech and environmentally-friendly.
The old world, which they call the "Rusty world" <--wonder where that name came from XD is almost completely dead...because someone released an oil-based pathogen that ignites upon contact with oxygen.
I hope that doesn't happen to us. o.o
Or something like that.
We should be able to solve our problems without killing off 3/4 of the population.
Oh yeah!
So we were talking about World Wars...and overpopulation...and it's like, hey, which one is worse?

I'd say both! Both are bad for the world and people. World Wars devastate nations and overpopulation makes it harder for people in developing nations. Not enough resources for everyone, esp since the U.S. has the majority of resources and supplies compared to everyone else. Its an ongoing debate, especially with our recession in the economy, the threat of global warming and losing fuel cells. Its enough to make your head spin, we can't think about it all the time or we panick.

XO
We're all doomed!
Oh well.
Yeah...if only magic was real...we'd all fly to Mars!
(And pollute that, too x.x)
I think it's about time we stop breeding like bunnies.
It's pitiful.
Hrmmm. The US is paying for it, though.
It can't support its control, and the economy is going down.
(Inflation is bonkers o-o)
We should all go solar/wind/water power =D

LOTS of little magics we can do. Live green. Urge our restaurants and our stores and our schools and our homes to have recycling bins. Support and study the sciences that will come up with solutions. Simple things can make a difference. I'm appalled at all the cafe style restaurants I eat in that have high quality plastic thrown away, and I can write quiet letters to their corporate owners and management.

And on the esoteric yet practical side, be kind to one another. Discharge distress responsibly and teach others how to do it. Work with groups like Ubuntu, a non-profit organization which focuses on mind-body issues, specifically health and well-being, and the effects of stress, trauma and compassion fatigue. They seek to increase awareness of the global and local impact of these issues, build a sense of community, and encourage living a more fully embodied life.

Ubuntu [ubuntu] n. South African: Humanity or fellow feeling; kindness.
Ubuntu is very difficult to render into a Western language. When we want to give high praise to someone we say, "Yu u nobuntu"; "Hey, so-and-so has ubuntu." Then you are generous, you are hospitable, you are friendly and caring and compassionate. You share what you have. It is to say, "My humanity is caught up, is inextricably bound up, in what is yours."... Ubuntu says, "A person is a person through other persons."

I met David Bertolli, a former priest and soldier who is looking at what can be done to discharge emotions safely in stadiums full of people, not just one to one. He travels to Darfur, to Rwanda, to Iraq. Because I see what's happening as the result of our relationship to each other as well as to the environment. http://www.livingubuntu.org/events/

Look at this video of Severn Suzuki, a 13 year old speaking at the Earth Summit in Rio De Janeiro in 1992 for Eco, a group of 12 and 13 year old, urging the delegates to wake up and help.

Most of all recognize when panic comes up, it's a part of you urging you to do SOMETHING. Fear vs a feeling of helplessness = panic. Take a breath. (It doesn't have to be a big one). Think - what can I do? Panic is tailor made to inspire a Ravenclaw to positive action. Doesn't matter if you're a little kid or not. And those old enough to vote - pick a candidate whose words and deeds reflect a caring and a priority for the environment.

I can't spend as much time on Gaia, with recuperating and the projects I have out in the real world, as I'd like to. That's why I need the mods and prefects and you to be helpful to one another. But when you ask and talk about global and planetary events, and help with things at home too, I'm very proud to know y'all! --LHH

Wouldn't overpopulation make more soldiers for World Wars? That's pretty bad too.

"Wit beyond measure...
On a happier note... biggrin Anyone care to see my current avi?
User ImageIt's very random! Ive never had a yellow or orange avi before! I just bought an Enchanted strings and autumn glory, so I decided to use them for once!
...is a man's greatest treasure."

Oh noes! It's different again!

I agree with you, LadyHealingHands, when you say to vote for a candidate who wants to take care of our environment. I am concerned, however, when the situation arises where you need to contemplate what a politician says. They don't exactly have reputations for being purely honest, which is a sad thing. That also may be partially due to blind conformity on the behalves of many people.

I get a good laugh when I think of blind conformity because it makes me think of sheep. Does anyone else agree?

Steffyss
Ivy, what kind of things are you into? What kind of music do you listen to? What do you like to do for fun? Are you more girly or tomboy? Just asking so I can help give ideas.

Hrm, I'm not very sure of this move, but I'm thinking about tekteking either a more elegant and clean avatar. Not very sure, though... But in response, I can't say I'm extremely girly, but I'm definitely not tomboy xp *sigh* I'll see, but thanks for helping! 3nodding

Luna, I lovelovelove your avatar! It's so pretty <3 I've always liked Winter Rose! =D

*sigh* Yeah, it snowed like crazy @.@ And it actually stuck. =O I mean, yeah, it's cool, but...hello, it's almost April... *shakes head* I wonder how this summer will be eek

I will never ever ever stop loving Luna's avatar. I'm attached to Mythic Hair, although my better judgement tells me I have Elemental Hair.

I'm not girly, yet not tomboyish. March 30... and I'm still putting off on the events. Bad me.

How is everyone? (For everyone who is in some form of school, when are your exams?)

Yes...
Little things like turning off the lights, and buying a hybrid.
XD
Luna, your avvie is very pretty =D
(I didn't see the strings/autumn one, however)
Night, I'm saying that World Wars takes away from overpopulation. The deaths, and whatnot. But it's a pretty...unpleasant...immoral...way to cure overpopulation.
Hrm. It's mostly tech-stuff that will help fix our global problems...
I'm going into medicine/disease junk, so I dunno.
Donate! XD We should all use re-usable utensils/silverware.
Oh yeah, this non-profit organization called Tzu-Chi sells them. o-o The stuff is cute...and easy to carry around.
