And so that was that, there was going to be another dragon joining the group but this one was set to try and become what it should of become in the first place. Not some damn ride to a human who treated the poor little one badly. So he continued to look at her for a little while. the dragon was cute but underneath it all probably has saw a lot of abuse over the years of its life. When Savvy spoke to him though he gave a light nod to her. "Alright then if that's the way it's going to be then fine." He couldn't argue with that really. So he turned and walked back the way they came, but he turned around and stared at the dragon and Shyrae. He wanted to see how she'll get her to follow.

A glance up at her sudden movement since he was as perceptive as always, even amidst his own psychological issues resurfacing. She was right, he was upset and even had a right to be upset but no outlet for that distress to exit by. He wasn't going to cry. For some reason, he just couldn't. He'd done enough crying during those long years after her death and there were probably no more tears left. Just sadness and regret brooding constantly inside of him. Reaching up, he took her hand and held it there, warm against his cool cheek. "When will it stop? When will love not hurt?"

This was a side two people had ever seen. Herself and Lycear were the only two privilaged to get to see this...if one could call it a privilage. Granted she'd never seen him cry, but this was close enough in her opinion. Jae almost wanted to cry where he couldn't, but wasn't sure if he'd take that well so she reigned her own in as he held her hand to his cheek. Gently she let her fingers curl around his own. "Come here..."
Pulling him to her so they were leaned into each other, his check tucked against her neck and her chin resting on top of his head, her cheek against one of his horns. She brushed her free hand through his hair in comforting fashion, resting it on his face and brushing her thumb across the rune under his eye. He would never ask for comfort, just like she was never ask for it either. It was a survival technique...to ask for something like that would be showing a weakness, a vulnerability. But she had never needed words to know what he needed, she could read him like a book most days.
"It's always going to hurt Kaznec, you lost someone and she can't come back. It just won't always hurt as bad though. Storybooks say that one great loss of love is mended by finding another great love. Maybe...it'll stop hurting as much if not all together when you find someone to love like your father loves your mother." Sighing lightly, if anyone could give him an opinion on things you wanted to be there but weren't she could. "We can't always dwell on the past or we're never going to move forward. It's okay to not dwell as long as we don't compltely forget."

Shyrae was quickly realizing that the dragon had not been taught her own kind's commands which could possibly make her job that much harder. "I suppose her actual lessons can begin after we've gotten her back with us. She seems to be enough at ease right now." Walking forward in slow, measure steps and bending down, she picked up the reins and gave a tug. "Come." Thus took to walking back down after Savvy. "Come on Caden, we need to go."

Caden listened to Shyrae and followed her and Savvy back downstairs, it seems that they didn't need to stick around anymore. So without another word the guardian made his way back to the ship and climbed aboard. Once on he began to help with what ship repairs that were needed to be made since the Chimera seemed to still be in not so good condition. It didn't take his mind off the little blue dragon though, he wondered how Shyrae was treating the little one, but then thought that the dragon would be better off in the drow hands than her pervious master.

He didn't protest at her action because of one reason: it was familiar. And in the silence that followed, others things swept a similar feeling of nostalgia over him. The way her fingers threaded through his hair was reminding him of his mother, the only female ever to share such a close connection with him. Though he didn't exactly understand it as that... With his eyes closed and body leaning into hers like that, his unconscious realizations were merely translating into simple comfort and for the first time in weeks, he seemed to relax completely. "I've never heard that story... It's a hard balance to find, I won't ever forget..." Murmuring softly then thinking on her words, relating them to ones she'd said before. "I will but that doesn't mean I won't always look out for you, Jae. But what about the one you love?"

It was nice to feel him relax, meant she was actually doing something to help him. He wasn't completely closed off from people in the world like most thought he was. Seemed they at least shared the same problem of being misjudged by those around them. But a light melodic laugh to his admission. "When you grow up without parents and have to share the time with several other chilren of those that are taking care of you, books make a nice babysitter." Quiet for a moment, the tip of her tail lightly switching back and forth on the floor. "Balance...I think you should start with the fact that I don't think your mother wants you to remember her this way. She'd rather you be happy when you think of her."
It sounded slightly corny perhpaps, but it was true in this case. And then a blink as he turned things back on her. Always look out for her no matter what? What did that make her to him? When his life did start turning to his own ways of family and the like, was there really going to be time for her? Or was he going to turn it into the obligation to keep his word, just to keep his promise? "Let's just say...he's already unavaliable. Just because you think you love someone doesn't mean you can have them..." She wasn't going to kid herself.
Getting back to the ship, she boarded and merely sat on the railing for the moment. "Okay, so someone hand over our little prize so we can all bask in some positive feedback.
She followed easily being led by reigns and when they got back to the ship, obediantly sat where she was left on some rocks by where the ship was docked, turing her head around at things curiously.

That was a comforting laugh needless to say. Maybe he just needed something positive around him right now to battle off the demons. "They make a nice teacher too. That's why you always seem to know more than me." And she was good at inventing too, advantages of being exposed to ideas from all sorts of places, books being one of them. "I'll try." See, another good idea. Why was she so good at these things? And they made logical sense too, he'd just never talked to anyone before about such things. Eyes opening again, bright golden with perhaps unshed tears. "Thank you, Jae." He gave her hand a squeeze and pulled away to look at her again. He didn't know that she had someone that close to her as well. But then that didn't make sense, did it? Love that wasn't returned hurt, she said so herself. "Why are you never sad?"

"Not more than you, just in a different perspective than you do." Giving him a smile as he pulled away in better shape than when she had pulled him to her. "You're welcome..." Well he may be feeling better now and she was happy for that....but now she was feeling worse. Why did she insist on torturing herself this way? To have in a way something she couldn't get any other way? It was cheap and it was shameful, but it was the truth wasn't it. Her look slowly turned to a frown that made her avert her eyes from him as he prodded his own question to things he didn't understand. "I am sad Kaznec. I am a lot...It's just that nobody sees it. Someone has to keep their chin up, I have to. If I let myself think about what makes me sad...I'd always be like that. Like I said...if one dwells, they can't move forward." Hypocrite her mind chided to her. Hypocrite indeed...she shouldn't even be telling him this but she liked to punish herself.

Shyrae was observing the little dragon the entire time. Obvously getting her to obey wasn't going to be a hardship. The real challenge would lay in teaching her to think for herself and not blindly follow orders if she chose not too. Speaking and changing were also lessons and the task became more and more daunting the more she thought about it. Caught up in her thoughts, she was startled when Savryn looked at her expectantly and then blinked. "Oh, I have it." A quick swipe of a finger and she was pulling out the shining shard and setting it in Savvy's hand. "It's not sharp around the edges but it's still a broken piece."

He blinked at her truthful answer, speechless as if suddenly aware of a lie he'd been living and believing in. She was fine, and happy all the time; she was Jae. It had seemed like a fact set in stone until now. His features softened but he remained silent, watching her speak. "Jae..." He wasn't good at comforting like she was. Words were never his friend and he was perhaps indifferent to emotions because he always seemed to have trouble reading and differentiating them in others. But use logic now... "Maybe the person you love would rather you be happy when you think of them too." Reaching over slowly, he lifted her chin up to look into her eyes as he did the same to his own chin with his other hand. "Both of us should keep our chins up then. Move forwards but not forget, right?" A sad smile.

She rolled the shard around in her palm a moment. One could indeed feel the power that seemed to rest inside of the object. Fingers deftly touched over the little piece of crystal. Indeed it was nothing but a shard of something who knew how big and who knew how many shards. "Hopefully this little sharp will indeed cool the tempers floating around this ship. I grow wearing of listening to the racket."
Jae didn't expect comfort from him, he was simply not a dispenser of it. She didn't doubt that he knew how, he just didn't know how to efficently for each person he came in contact with. Comfort was something that had to be tailored to all, uniform fashion was not its way. She almost wanted to laugh at his words because he didn't know who he was talking about but she did. But she kept that tainted bitter laughter inside. Oh Jaebelltiah, you are hopeless, really. "Or maybe it would be best if I tried to stop loving him." A blink though at his actions, he was trying and that said something at least. She gave him a nod, half mimicking his smile, "Right...things have to eventually work in our favors, yes?" An odd silence following everything as if things were soaking in. Eventually someone had to say something. "It's quiet now..."

No, he didn't know who she was talking about. Didn't have a clue either but he wasn't one to pry nor to question further. Male, People chose to say what they did and he respected that, of everyone mostly. Apparently male and that's all the information he had. "Nothing is impossible though, if he's still here." And by that, he meant 'alive'. Another clenching of the heart and then dropping his hand as she smiled. No, he really didn't know what exactly to say. He had the feeling that love was not something he could rationally think about and still understand perfectly, like military tactics. Something about the concept itself confused him to no end, even though he basically understood the feelings of security and happiness she had talked about. "I only believe in luck occasionally and in fate even less. I just know that if you want something Jae, you should reach for it." Eventually, he too turned his attention outwards and listened for action above. "That could mean good or bad news. But no one has contacted us yet..."

He had to say such things that gave her hope and yet crushed it at the same time didn't he? He didn't know he was doing it, and she didn't blame him. After all, he didn't know and it was her fault and so on. "Yes, he is." But she watched him again as they talked about things as such they had never really talked about before. "Reach for it huh? I'll keep that in mind." Nothing ever hurt to try, but it did hurt to fail. Failing though taught lessons and such. For a long moment, she watched him. "Sometimes though...you just have to take a leap of faith. Remember that." But a nod to him then at his own musing on their current situation. "I guess we should sit tight then...the sun's going down though. "Nodding to the shadows being cast from what little light was entering the place, as the sun was going down.

Yes, this was a rather interesting situation for them wasn't it? A heart to heart of sorts, though he didn't exactly classify his conversations with her. She was just Jae and he knew she could be trusted. "Xeke tells me that as well. That I need to take more risks. Isn't that just rash thinking?" He never looked away as she watched him, just stared intently back at his reflection in her clear amber eyes. But then, a mildly apprehensive glance back at the door as he considered a course of action. "If we leave, we take a risk. Is now the right time to be leaping in faith?" But a glance to her as indeed the sun was setting now. "Are you cold?"
