Is it text based or more of a video game in that regard then? It looked like something of both....or something...
It's a videogame, though there are some text-based things you can do. The players are pretty serious about staying in character and "IC in OOC" is a bannable offence if you repeatedly break it. It's pretty lighthearted though and you get a LOT of leeway with the rules as long as it makes the game more entertaining.
I'm back in the game now and am slowly getting used to it again.
Well it looks a little interesting, I might have to take a look at it when I get the time sometime.
I heavily recommend reading through the new players guide thoroughly before playing if you do. My first game back I nearly beat myself to death with a toolbox because I forgot the controls. Some of the controls sound counterintuitive until you get used to them. One example is that if you have an empty hand and click on an object, most objects you'll pick up, which includes some containers. Some containers, however, you instead open the container to look inside or automatically take an item from it. If you want to pick those ones up, you click and drag it onto you hand. After playing a few rounds, you learn which containers need which rules.
It is very rewarding once you get used to it and each job you can play as have their own game, for lack of a better word. The shaft miner is an adventure game, while cargo tech/quartermaster are inventory management puzzle games. All jobs can do everything though, as long as you have the right access on your ID or find a way to circumvent access requirements.
