"Shinx!" Zaira cried, her butterfly prey quickly forgotten as a new toy, err, Pokemon appeared in front of her. She jumped into a pouncing position, though her tail was wagging quite happily. Karrigan shook her head and rolled her eyes a bit, as the Shinx's boundless energy was very tiresome for her. She looked over at Venerax as he released his second Pokemon, and even she couldn't help but jump as the Beedrill sped towards her trainer, stopping only inches from him. It seemed she was only playing with him though and buzzed away, and Karrigan was certain that if a Beedrill could laugh, the sound it was making right now would definitely be it.
"Your Pokemon are quite interesting," Karrigan said, looking over at Zaira as she continually tried to provoke Booky into playing with her. The redheaded girl took the two spheres from her own belt and enlarged both of them with a single click of the center buttons. She pressed the button again on one Pokeball, and her faithful Sneasel, Ikouma, appeared in a flash of light, his arms already folded across his chest. He squinted under the harsh sunlight and looked around, stopping to scrutinize the strange new human in front of him in a disapproving manner. "Play nice," Karrigan warned, but the Sneasel scoffed and looked away. He definitely wasn't the type to play around. "This is Ikouma," Karrigan went on, gesturing to the cross-looking Pokemon before her. "You might want to step back a bit for my other Pokemon." She hesitated for a moment before tossing the second sphere into the air where it burst open, spilling out a tremendous amount of light that seemed to grow even larger as the massive Pokemon took shape.
"Gaaarrroooooo," roared the Onix happily as he stretched out his rocky body, though upon spotting his trainer he brought his head down so that he could see both Karrigan and her new human friend better.
"This gentle giant is Aegeus," she said, giving the Rock Snake Pokemon a loving pat on the nose, and the Onix made a low rumbling sound as a sort of greeting. It was almost hard to believe that the great Onix had a much friendlier and gentler nature than his much smaller teammate, Ikouma.

Fantina gave a triumphant little laugh when she saw the frustrated look on Riza's face. One of her best tactics for defending her gym was to give her orders in French, as very few people understood them. She also couldn't understand why the raven haired girl had sent out a psychic-type to battle her ghost-type. Ghosts had quite an advantage over psychics, but she decided not to underestimate the Kirlia, especially after witnessing her magnificent dodge. "Oh! Très belle!" she cheered, clapping. "Your Kirlia iz quite light on her petite feet! But zat alone will not save her! Drifloon, Essayez une rafale!"
The balloon Pokemon looked a bit miffed that his attack had missed but he quickly spun around, his tassels fanning out around him as he inflated his body. For a moment he held it there, the cloudy wisp on his head began to move with an invisible wind and soon the air he'd been storing was sent spiraling towards the Kirlia.
'That looks like a Gust attack,' Riza thought, not liking the fact that she had to try and recognize each attack as it went off. A part of her knew it was good practice though, and she took another deep breath. "Brace yourself, Yula," she called out, still trying to remain confident. "Use Calm Mind and try to hold your ground!"
The elegant little psychic nodded and brought her hands together, bowing her head in concentration. Her entire body began to glow and sparkle faintly with a pale green aura as the Gust attack hit her head on, causing the sparkles to swirl and spiral around her, and she looked quite radiant. The attack still hurt, but not nearly as much as it could have thanks to her newly bolstered special defense. Riza smiled admirably at her Pokemon and the outcome of the two attacks. 'Just like I imagined it,' she thought, relaxing a little. She wasn't sure if she'd be able to defeat Fantina now, but if anything she was determined to prove that she was a contender in the upcoming Cerulean Contest. * * * * * Katie couldn't help but be amused at the expression on Noa's face, and she could tell that the Staravia was about to get serious. 'Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt for Nell to get knocked down a peg or too. I mean she is pretty clever, but there's more to battles than just cleverness.' "Noa, try a Wing Attack this time," she said, shifting her weight a little. Kord seemed like he was growing heavier by the moment and as much as he protested it she had to put him down. The Elekid pouted and sat on the ground by her feet, his gaze still fixed on the brownish coloured Staravia as she divebombed the Buneary in a retaliatory strike, her remaining clone forgotten.
Nell smirked a little when she saw the attack coming in, and once again she prepared to dodge and counter. Noa let out a sharp trill as she neared her target, her wings glowing once again. Nell jumped up, eager to try and dodge, but this time Noa did something unexpected. Instead of flying past and missing her attack, the Staravia put on the brakes and came to a screeching halt. This sudden stop allowed for just enough time for Nell to reach the top of her jump and start to fall again, and her eyes went wide when she realized what was about to happen.
She cried out as a steel-hard wing slammed into her stomach, and suddenly she was plummeting towards the ground. Noa must have scored a critical strike, as the Buneary was far too dazed to try and right herself. The ground was rushing up to meet her very quickly and she closed her eyes, waiting for the impact. It didn't come like she thought it would and instead she landed on something not nearly as hard, and he didn't go splat, either. Nell opened one eye only to realize that Noa had sped down and caught her, and she sighed happily, collapsing onto the Pokemon's back in relief. Noa gave a cheeky chirp as she came into land. The Buneary may have been a bit full of herself, but at least she knew when to accept defeat.

Ryka took a seat in the grass as the two coordinators prepared to battle. Observation was a wonderful way to learn after all. Thinking about this, Ryka decided to release all of her Pokémon as well, so they too could learn about the contests that they might soon participate in. A bright flash of red light revealed her other 4 Pokémon, most of whom sat obediently to watch the battle. Thistle, however, ran over and sat in Ryka's lap, cuddling her stomach and drooling a bit on her legs. Ryka looked down with a smile, and instructed them all, "Make sure you pay attention to this battle. We might be entering a contest soon, so we want to be like these two trainers, okay?"
Noticing that Riza was looking a bit nervous, Ryka called out with a cheer, "Don't worry, Riza! You're doing great!" As the battle went on, Ryka took note of the Drifloon. It's that balloon Pokemon again...it's awfully cute. Just like the one that girl had.. The committed the Pokémon's name to her memory for future use..

Crenu waved back at Riza after her comment, not bothering to look back. What was she all upset for? Surely she must have known by now that he didn't like sitting back and watching when he could be doing his own training. As he started to leave he could hear the battle going on behind him, Fatina was giving orders in French and it sounded like Riza wasn't taking it well. Smart, in fact it put a grin on his face. Not because Riza was having trouble, but because it made Fatina more interesting to him. He stopped walking for a moment to listen a bit more, and he was soon convinced.
"Fatina, je voudrais vous lutter un jour. C'a pu être… intéressant." He still didn't look back, but he did turn his head slightly as he called out. His French probably sounded rough from lack of use, and he was sure he'd made a mistake or two, but he figured he'd gotten his point across. With that Crenu continued on his way, walking further up the path towards Cerulean until the sounds of the battle were quiet enough for him to ignore. "I've let myself fall behind again, I need to get myself up and ready for this contest. I will not suffer yet another loss, it simply isn't an option anymore. I must rid myself of all weakness." He said as he grabbed hold of one of his pokeballs and let it loose, the white light flooding out and dimming as it took shape. "And that goes for you too Froslass. You've held your own lately, and I'm proud of you for it. But you're still not fighting as confidently as you should be. You're gonna play an important roll in the upcoming contest as my main pokemon. Now, let's get to work shall we?"
Froslass, who had been swaying back and forth up until now suddenly sank half way into the ground. What did he mean she would be his main pokemon? There was no way she was ready to do this! She looked up at him, her head the only thing sticking out of the ground as she shook it. "Froslass, stop this foolishness. Remember that last battle, you held up against Fearow and Hitmonlee just fine. Hitmonlee was powerless against you, remember?" She thought about it for a moment, remembering how the brown kicking pokemon's attack went right through her, it was a pretty great feeling to know she was in control there. And she was able to take on that big scary bird pokemon too! Slowly she started to rise up out of the ground until she was hovering around him once more eager to keep up the good work and keep impressing her new trainer
"Very well. A little confidence is important Froslass. Too much is fatal, so don't let your head inflate. You are a ghost ice type, the mysterious elegance of ghosts mixed with the deadly still beauty of ice. A winning combination if ever there was one, so we should do well. But it's not enough to give us the win Froslass, we still need to practice your moves and proper execution. Now, let's start off with Hail. I know it's still new to you, but this is an important technique. First of all, as a battle technique, it does three things for you. One, it damages non ice type pokemon. Two, it boosts your evasiveness. And three, it makes Blizzard attack very accurate. You don't know Blizzard yet but that's fine. Now in a contest, having clear crystals of ice raining down indoors with you fading from visibility will be both beautiful and creepy. I think we can do well. So let's give it a shot." Froslass nodded, a bit nervous now as this was new to her, but she did her best. Looking up to the sky Froslass concentrated on it, trying to summon dark clouds filled with ice to rain down.

At first nothing appeared, the sky remained clear with only the white clouds that were always up in the sky passed by overhead. "Concentrate Froslass. You're trying to hard, just relax and try to feel the weather. Feel the moisture in the air, the atmosphere around you, and make the clouds appear." She looked at Crenu for a moment, nodding as she listened to his words. Closing her eyes and taking a few deep breaths, Froslass tried again. Above her head she started to make a small cloud that gave off a chilly air, but all she managed to squeeze out of it were a few tiny chunks of ice before her concentration broke. Her eyes shot open and she appeared to be breathing heavily, but Crenu simply stood there arms crossed. "Better, but just barely. You need to keep trying. You need a bigger cloud with more ice, and you need to make it self sustaining. This will be difficult I'm sure, but luckily you don't have to learn how to cover that large an area just yet. Since we're gonna use this indoors and in front of judges and the audience, making to big a hail storm would be a problem. I'm sure the stage will be big no doubt, but even still covering the entire area with hail could end up hurting you, we want all attention to be focused on you so we'll want a concentrated cloud anyway. So for now just focus on covering you and a small diameter around you for some maneuverability and nothing more. Hail again when you're ready."
Crenu didn't make a move, not a twitch nor even a sound, he simply stood where he was and watched patiently for Froslass to get things going again. It didn't take long though, Froslass was eager to get this down right. She tried again, and again, each time her cloud broke apart before it could reach a good self sustaining size and Crenu continued to watch. But eventually it seemed like she got it, and Froslass managed to make a dark cloud that extended out only a few feet out from where she hovered. "Alright good. Hold it there like that and let the hail form and fall." It took a little more concentration, but once the cloud had grown stable Froslass was able to take a breather. The hail started to fall on it's own now, she just had to keep the moisture inside the cloud frozen and it did the rest. A few chunks of ice fell at first, then more and more until there was a steady amount of hail coming down all around her, the chunks harmlessly breaking over her. Froslass spun around happily as she had managed to finally conjure her hail storm.

As the hail fell around her, Crenu smirked a bit as he watched her ability come into effect. As the hail fell around Froslass she suddenly started to fade away from visibility, becoming more transparent and difficult to tell apart from the surrounding hail. She wasn't completely invisible, as Crenu was still able to spot her within the hail, but during the heat of battle it was sure to cause some problems for the opponent. But perhaps more importantly was that it indeed added that mystery he was looking for, the ghostly woman withing the storm that might just be your imagination. "Good Froslass. Now use Double Team." Froslass was still busy twirling around in the hail when Crenu issued his command, much to his annoyance. But after a moment he started to lighten up, this was something he could use. He tried once more, calling out a bit louder this time around. "Froslass Double Team, don't stop twirling!" This time she heard him, nearly falling over from the sudden boom of his voice. She was having to much fun for a moment there and forgotten where she was, and quickly tried to recover. But she spun a little to fast as she tried to get back into her groove and ended up losing her balance and fell over.
"....how do you get your feet tangled up when you don't have any? Take a second to recover." Crenu said with a sigh, shaking his head slightly. "I told you to stop trying so hard. If you'd been paying attention you wouldn't have been surprised by my command. That's not something you can afford in battle or in a contest. I want you to relax, and twirl like you were before. A nice easy playful spin, you looked like you were having fun. Just do that, and make a double team. Three copies should do for what I'm planning. Be graceful, and enjoy yourself. A certified judge should be able to pick up on weather or not you're bundle of nerves and that can hurt your performance and scoring. Now, are you ready to try again?" Froslass, who had remained on the ground while she listened, nodded after a few moments of deliberation. Crenu didn't seem mad at her at all, no instead he sounded understanding. He wanted her to enjoy herself? Well that she could do. After a few breaths she looked up, the cloud had vanished and she figured Crenu wanted her to make another. Raising her hands up into the air she summoned a second hail storm, it was getting easier now and she was very excited.
She was doing it, she was getting stronger! There was no way she would get abandoned again, not if she kept this up! She took a deep breath, then another, she was ready. "Ok. Double Team." Froslass started twirling again, her gown like body waving slightly. When she had a good steady spin going she went into action, one copy jumping out to the side, followed by another and then the third, all of them spinning like she was and looking as transparent as the original withing the hail. Crenu nodded, this was good. He was afraid that the hail might disrupt the copies like any other attacks would but they were holding up fine. "Good. Now Froslass, I want you in the center, don't stop twirling. I want your three copies to circle you as you remain stationary. We've been working on this one from day one so it shouldn't be a problem. Especially now that you've evolved." Froslass nodded, keeping her rhythm. He was right, Double Team control was her specialty at this point. It was something she'd worked out on her own, using it as a fleeing tactic to get away from anything that moved. Before meeting up with Crenu she was a real coward, very timid. And while she still felt like that sometimes she was feeling a lot safer being with this new trainer of hers. And like he said, they had been working on her Double Team from the start to make it perfect. She couldn't control a lot of copies yet but three were no problem. As she spun the three copies fell in line, a neat circle of three spinning around her in the center. She felt good now, really good. "Alright, you can drop them and the hail. That'll do for now. We'll move onto something new in a bit." Froslass held it up for a bit longer, one copy disappearing followed by the other two as the cloud started to disperse. Froslass floated over to Crenu, settling down beside him. She was a bit tired, that took a little more work than she thought. But she was happy. Crenu looked down at her and nodded. That was enough recognition for her.

"G-G-Gyarados?" Jaeshan stuttered as the enormous water serpent emerged from beneath the surface. The blonde trainer could feel the anger and tension in the air, and he couldn't help but wonder what he and his family could have done to anger the creature. Without even thinking he reached for Mightyena's Pokeball, having forgotten that his Pokemon and other items were currently being stored safely below deck. "Damn," he muttered, loosing his footing as the Atrocious Pokemon thrashed about in the water, causing large ripples of water to rock the yacht. He steadied himself against the railing and faced the Gyarados, wondering if there was a chance he could try to talk to it and perhaps calm it down. But, before he could get a chance to formulate the words in his mind, there was another uprising of water, and Jaeshan looked over his shoulder to see a second, and much larger Gyarados emerge from the waves with a furious roar.
All at once Jaeshan thought he understood - one of the Gyarados must have invaded the other's territory, and now they looked poised to duke it out right here and now. He also quickly picked up on the fact that neither of them seemed to notice (or care; either was plausible at this point) that the tiny human vessel was so close to them. Jaeshan knew he should rush to the helm and try to get the yacht out of here, before the fighting could begin, but he was rooted to the spot with fear. He saw the first Gyarados (and the one defending its territory) begin to thrash its head back and forth before it opened its mouth wide and unleashed a spread of indigo-coloured flames at the other, a Dragon Rage.
By this point the roaring of the two warring water dragons had caught the attention of his parents, and Jaeshan felt another wave of panic course through him at the sight of them. "We have to get out of here!" he managed to choke out, but his voice was drowned out by the roar of the second Gyarados and interloper, very distinguishable due to the fact that his left headfin appeared as though something had taken a bite out of it. Jaeshan's parents clung to each other as the scarred Gyarados roared at the other, undeterred by the previous Dragon Rage. It lunged forward, its fangs frosting over with ice as it did so, and the defending Gyarados let out a cry of pain while the three terrified humans looked on, utterly helpless.

That kind of looked like Ice Fang, Jaeshan thought, though he quickly realized that this was no time to be admiring their attacks. The defending Gyarados, while smaller than his attacker, seemed to show a little more understanding in the way of battling than his larger foe. As Jaeshan studied him, he could see that his steel-hard scales were covered in nicks and scratches, no doubt earned from one fierce battle after another. It wasn't surprising when he reared back, avoiding an attempted Bite by the larger Gyarados and countered with another well-aimed Dragon Rage.
The waters were churning violently as the two Gyarados battled it out, and Jaeshan felt his footing slip as the ever-growing ripples continued to slosh up against the hull of the yacht, and he threw his hands out to catch himself from landing face first on the deck, jarring his left hand in the process. He didn't even have the ability to cry out in pain from his less-than-graceful fall as it was drowned out by a sudden wave of water as it cascaded over the railing, resulting from the powerful Aqua Tail that had just been launched by the more experienced Gyarados. It wasn't exactly damaging, but the force of it had been enough to push the attacker back by quite a bit.
Now completely soaking wet, Jaeshan pulled himself to his feet, slipping a bit as the deck was now quite slick. He winced as he cradled his now-probably sprained wrist in his good arm, glancing over at his parents. They were both in once piece, but Jaeshan could see that they were both pale and wearing worried expressions. Why did I leave all my Pokemon below deck? he thought irritably, even though he wasn't sure what any of them could do against the two Gyarados.

"Swinub, you're up. I need you for Froslass's training." Swinub yawned sleepily as soon as he took form, not all that sure about what was going on. He sniffed the air a few times, immediately recognizing the traces of of ice on the floor from the hail as well as Froslass's scent. He cried out happily as he jumped, bounding towards Froslass who was equally happy to see her fellow ice type. She hadn't seen him since his battle against that big scary electric mouse, he'd gotten hurt so badly in that fight. Swinub umped up onto her, standing on his hind legs as he probed and nuzzled Froslass while she patted his head and appeared to laugh. He had been a good friend to her since he joined the team, it was thanks to his nudging that she was able to evolve in the first place. Swinub backed off a bit and got all fours back on the ground, starting a conversation with Froslass in their pokemon language while Crenu watched, a little thrown off by all this. Whatever they were talking about, Swinub seemed excited by his tale while Froslass seemed more worried than anything. In Crenu's opinion they might have been talking about the gym battle, but it was anyone's guess as to what was really going on here. However that didn't matter right now, Swinub was out again for a reason.
Crenu cleared his throat, getting his pokemon's attention before continuing. "There will be time for idle chit chat later. Right now Froslass needs to prepare for a contest and you're going to help her. I'm short on props right now so I need you to make her target. Swinub I want you to use Mud Bomb. Shoot it directly into the sky above Froslass. Just one ball of mud, and not that dense. She's gonna need to destroy it easily, this is so she can train her accuracy and control. It should help you with your control as well. Any questions?" The two pokemon looked at each other, then back at Crenu. Seemed simple enough right? They shook their heads and got into position. Froslass back to where she had centered the Hail attack, and Swinub by Crenu's feet. "Alight Mud Bomb. When it gets directly above you I want you to use Astonish on it. Pretend the ball is an enemy, and be as ghostly as you can be." Swinub took aim, shooting a small mud ball up above with a perfect arc, coming down directly above Froslass. Keeping her eye on the ball Froslass immediately zipped into the air when it was in position, zigzagging back and forth as she climbed up to meet the ball on it's way down. When the two met Froslass gave the ball a good shout, causing it to break apart, and floated down to the ground below pleased with herself. But Crenu was not quite so please, and shook his head.
"Not stealthy enough. You're a ghost Froslass, you need to be able to move like one. Try again." She couldn't believe it, that wasn't good? She thought she did great! Feeling defeated she sank back down as she got into position, but Swinub managed to get her back in the game. He called out to her what must have been words of encouragement because She was soon standing tall once more ready to try again. Swinub shot the ball, and Froslass chased it again, with a similar outcome. She climbed up into the air and broke the ball, but Crenu still didn't seem pleased. "I can still follow your movements Froslass. Again." Froslass sighed, she was still new to being a ghost type pokemon. She hadn't quite gotten a feel for it yet. Sinking into the ground just came natural to her, since she was always a good hider, but that was it.
Again Swinub fired a shot and again Froslass chased it. Her zigzags were sharper though, she cut from side so side very suddenly trying to get the jump on her imaginary opponent, trying to get them to jump out of their skin. As she stalked the mud ball she was starting to enjoy herself. That's right, she was a ghost wasn't she? Terror of the night, the blur that haunts people's dreams. She needed to be quick like that, she needed to be like an illusion. Her zigzagging was starting to get that ghostly flare to it that Crenu was looking for, but it wasn't quite perfect. "Good, but not yet. Again Froslass again. You should appear to vanish while you travel from one side to the other. Make you opponent confused, the audience shouldn't know where you really are until it's to late! Give them a big scare, make everyone leap from their seats with your Astonish." Again and again She repeated the drill, each time getting a little quicker. She was starting to get tired but she didn't care, and then on this next run she felt it. Froslass shot off to the side, letting her energy flow out and vanishing from sight. The next thing Crenu saw was her on the other side of the ball a little higher up and closer to the target before she was gone. He actually lost track of her for a second, seeing her one last time as she got next to the ball before vanishing again. "Now finish it with a grand scare Froslass." And she did just that. Appearing behind the ball of mud, Froslass let out a chilling cry as her image seemed to expand as it vanished, leaving the real her at it's center as the mud ball burst. "Excellent." Froslass let out a joyful laugh as she came back down, Swinub running up to her to give her congratulations. Things were going better now, it was such fun! "Now do it again." Crenu said simply, and Froslass and Swinub nearly fell over from the sudden command. Not even a little breather to take it all in? But the look on his face gave them the answer, and they scurried back into place to do it again. Froslass sighed as she got ready for Swinub to fire again, training was hard work.

Sabrina grew a bit offended at Blaine's comment in regards to her disappearance. It was difficult to bite her lip and not spout off a bitter comment about how she did not consider nearly being murdered the result of a youthful impulse. But, she managed. "Thank you," she replied, as the man stated that he was glad to see that she was safe. She followed her fellow Gym Leader to his laboratory, forgetting that it had been left in such a shambles. She was also at the receiving end of his rapid-fire questions. "That's quite a lot you would like to know," she replied offhandedly.
"I'll start from the top, I suppose. Nina had sought a battle with Mateo, the leader of the Fighting Dojo, and the man who was responsible for Saffron's Gym in my absence. After she emerged victorious against him, I picked up on a terrifically strong thought that Mike was having. I was able to discern his location, so Nina and I immediately set out to find him. In doing so, Nina and Mike engaged in a physical fight with one another; my sister was provoked into fighting, but in fairness, Mike was not exactly in control over his actions at the time. They turned to a Pokemon battle afterward, which resulted in Mike calming down substantially." She paused for a moment.
"To more specifically answer why we are here," she continued, "Mike is formulating a plan to overthrow Team Magma, but he knows that he cannot accomplish what he desires by himself. That is why I am here, why Nina is here, why all of his friends are here. To be truthful, I still do not trust that boy; the only reason that I have agreed to work with him is because his goal, while somewhat selfish, will be for the good of all people if accomplished. And Mike needs the combined strength of everyone that he can recruit to get this job done." Sabrina paused again, as she realized that there was one face amongst the crowd that was not amongst the crowd. "Kilik is missing," she said, more to herself than to Blaine. Reaching for her belt, she grabbed Oracle's Pokeball and released her companion. "Oracle, I have a simple, yet important job for you: Find Kilik, and bring him here. I do not care what he is doing; interrupt him if you must, but bring him to Mike immediately. Am I understood?" Oracle nodded. After a moment's concentration, he Teleported away.
Reappering in a land called Sinnoh, Oracle bore witness to a battle occurring between Kilik and an unidentified male, and Sabrina's words echoed: I do not care what he is doing; interrupt him if you must, but bring him to Mike immediately. The Pokemon Teleported again, this time appearing immediately adjacent to the boy. "Kilik," he said to his acquaintance, "you are needed. Come." Using its psychic powers, Oracle Teleported himself, Kilik, and Kilik's Pokemon-- both those inside and out of their Pokeballs-- back to Cinnibar Island, before anyone had a chance to react.
The Pokemon dropped Kilik off in the room with Mike, Nina, and the others, and returned to Sabrina immediately after. The girl returned her Pokemon to his Pokeball, acting as though nothing had happened. "Now," she added, "in regards to what happened to your laboratory... how shall I put this simply? Mike had a freak out."

Fantina's purple eyes went wide when she saw the how radiant and beautiful the tiny Kirlia looked with the aura and sparkles spiraling around her, and she smiled to herself. 'It appears zat z'is girl knows what she iz doing after all,' she thought, clapping her hands. "Quel merveilleux spectacle!" she cheered. "Riza, I am impressed," she said, nodding. "I hope you continue to impress me, for ze remainder of z'is battle, and for tomorrow's contest, as well. After all, I am going to be one of ze judges!"
She squealed with delight and nodded at her Drifloon. "Mon ami, s'il vous plaît utilisez Accumuler!" The Balloon Pokemon let out a loud humming noise and he drew in a large intake of air. He allowed his body to rotate gently with the breezes billowing around him and his body shimmered and glowed from the power of his Stockpile. The effect wasn't quite as brilliant as Riza's use of his previous Gust in combination with Calm Mind, but it would have been worth some points nevertheless.
Again Riza found herself grinding her teeth in frustration as she had no idea what attack Fantina had ordered, and she lightly clicked the scan button on her Pokedex (which she had muted) and glanced down at the screen. 'Stockpile,' she read, glancing back up at the Drifloon with a light smirk. 'I'll have to remember that.' She heard Ryka's cheers from the sidelines and she looked over and nodded appreciatively, noticing that she had let out all of her Pokemon from their poke balls. 'Wow, she sure has quite a team,' she thought, even though she only recognized the Pikachu and Gloom, and the Espeon of course. She also felt a strange sensation of worry course through her when Fantina mentioned she'd be one of the judges for the contest and she felt even more nervous than before.
Riza took a deep breath and looked back at her own Pokemon and smiled, quickly trying to regain her composure. "We have a few tricks up our sleeves as well," she said quietly to herself. "Okay Yula, let's try out your Double Team, and remember what we did last time, all right?" Yula nodded as the last sparkles from her Calm Mind faded, and she jumped back, twirling like a graceful little ballerina. Her body seemed to phase out of the real world for a split second before appearing again, but as she did so the tiny psychic seemed to dash out in five directions all at once, creating five points around the Drifloon in the center. 'Great,' Riza thought. 'Yula's really made that Double Team her own!' * * * * * "Nice work, you two," Katie complimented both Pokemon once Noa had brought the weakened Nell in for a safe landing. The Buneary was grinning sheepishly despite the fact that she'd just been given a solid smackdown, and she closed her eyes, ready for a good rest. Katie recalled her, and all her other Pokemon except for Genki and slung her backpack over her shoulder. "It's time to head to the pokecenter," she told the Monferno, and he nodded and jumped up on her shoulder, a little jealous that Kord had been up there earlier. Katie groaned under his weight but decided to allow him to stay up there, as she kind of missed this. 'He's so much heavier now that he's not a little Chimchar anymore,' she thought reaching up to ruffle the hair on the top of his head. Genki cooed and clung to her happily, though he too knew that it wouldn't be much longer before he wouldn't be able to anymore.
The walk back into Eterna City didn't take very long, and shortly afterwards the orange haired girl and her Monferno arrived at the pokecenter. "Inside you go," Katie said, giggling at the pouting chimp as he disappeared back inside his red and white sphere, and Katie grabbed a tray and placed all six of the poke balls in her possession in it before handing it to the nurse. It was fairly quiet in here right now and Katie walked over to one of the plushy chairs and sat down, her mind racing. She didn't remember feeling this nervous before facing Roark, so she couldn't understand what the problem was now. Both Genki and Noa would have the advantage over Gardenia's grass-type Pokemon. She sighed and got herself an orange soda from the vending machine and sipped on it slowly as she awaited the return of her Pokemon. 'We'll be fine,' she told herself, closing her eyes and smiling. "This next badge is in the bag!"

Froslass floated down to the ground ever so wearily, how many times had she gone over this maneuver now? Surely she had preformed well enough right? She was exhausted now, but Crenu didn't seem to falter so she got ready to do it again. Swinub was also getting a bit tired from using Mud Bomb over and over again, but he too got ready. Much to their surprise however Crenu didn't give the order this time. "That's enough. You two take a breather for now. Do what you will, but don't wander to far." That was all he needed to say, and his pokemon acted right away. Swinub quickly ran over to Froslass, nearly knocking her over as he tackled her playfully, his version of a hug. Froslass laughed and returned the gesture, the two of them sitting there for a bit to rest as they went over the exercise details and their performance.
"We've almost set up our appeal, but there is still the battle portion of the contest to be had. Ken told me the contests in Kanto allow the use of two different pokemon, one for appeals and one for battle. I've got five other pokemon that could do the job nicely, almost all of them have much more battle experience than Froslass. The question is who should I use?" Closing his eyes and arms still crossed, Crenu began to contemplate his choices. Swinub wasn't a bad choice, he was getting strong and could hold his own definitely, Ken raised him well. But using another ice type might bore the judges. Pupitar was to blunt and straight forward, not good for a contest. Poliwhirl could pull it off but he was to much of a clown to take this seriously. Those kind of antics could prove useful in a contest and make the judges laugh, but it was to close to the contest time for him to trust Poliwhirl without putting in a lot of training. Ariados might do well actually, good maneuverability and could probably use her string shot and spider web to make some good looking effects, but not quite what Crenu wanted. To completely throw the judges for a loop and show off his diversity he wanted to use someone completely opposite of Froslass. A good physical force that could still maneuver around and show that power in a graceful way. And just like that it was settled.
"Fearow, you're up." Shiro tossed out his newest pokemon, the ultra ball still shining as if he bought it just now, and out from within erupted the white light that took the shape of Fearow shooting straight up into the sky. He spread his golden wings wide and let out a mighty caw, the shimmer that shiny pokemon gave off surrounding him. Perfect. There wasn't a lot of diversity to Fearow's moves, they were pretty straight forward and not all that glamorous. Leer and Growl were unimpressive and best left forgotten in this case. Peck was a simply attack, Aerial Ace was a little more impressive with the vanishing speed but it was just as direct as a jab with the beak. Pursuit was the same, and Fury Attack was like consecutive Pecks. Fly, a good evasive tactic but about as impressive looking as an Aerial Ace as well. All this made it seem odd to chose Fearow for the contest, but a big part of contests was the point system, and while hitting you opponent with a beautiful attack lost them points, disrupting an attack all together also lead to point loss. Though it may seem off for a Fearow, Crenu was planning to make a defensive stance. Fury Attack was good for breaking through attacks consisting of multiple projectiles, Fly was a good dodging move, Peck also served to pluck things from the sky. Pursuit was a dark type move, could help power through a psychic attack and the dark aura as always good to look at. And perhaps most important of all was Fearow's Mirror Move. The ace in the whole, Fearow's mimicry move was the key here. There was nothing worse then being hit with your own move, and in this case having your move disrupted by it. Granted overusing it would be unoriginal and Fearow wouldn't be able to mimic the exact actions and grace behind the opponents move, but using it at the right moments would prove devastating. That combined with Fearow's speed and hitting power, there was no doubt he could pull this off. Crenu might have to teach him a new move or two but for now this was good. "Alright Fearow, warm up with some Pursuit attacks. Keep low to the ground, and be as smooth as you can be. I want you to look like a dark purple streak by the time you're done. Now go." Fearow cawed loudly and jumped right in, diving down to the ground and shooting forward just as his beak was going to hit the dirt, flying perfectly parallel to the ground as the dark aura came over his body. One of the best flyers out there in Crenu's opinion. With magnificent wings brimming with power, Fearow was definitely his bird of choice.

Fantina raised an eyebrow as she watched the Kirlia's Double Team, as she wasn't sure what the little psychic-type was planning to do with them. 'I do not know what z'ey are planning, but sitting around 'ere and waiting will do no'ting for me.' She straightened up her posture and made sure her hair was still perfect, it was of course. "Drifloon, l'utilisation d'accumuler une deuxième fois, s'il vous plaît." She twirled around as she gave the command, her gown fanning out around her.
Drifloon nodded once before repeating his previous actions, and his body expanded wider and rounder as he took in a second gulp of air, and again his body shimmered as his defenses were bolstered from the second Stockpile.
Riza puffed out her cheeks a bit as she watched the second Stockpile take effect, and she looked to her five Kirlia as the danced and twirled in their positions. "Alright, it's time," she whispered, narrowing her eyes. "Yula, I trust you know what to do," she sad, folding her arms across her chest. They'd done this tactic a few times before and it wasn't surprising to her when all five of the Kirlia copies smiled in unison.
It was obvious Yula was feeding off Riza's confidence as she and her clones continued to dance on the spot, each spinning faster and faster until a current of electricity had been built up. Each Kirlia cried out in unison as the Thunderbolt was launched upwards, creating what looked like a cage of lightning, though only one of the five bolts was real. Unfortunately for Drifloon and Fantina it would be nearly impossible to see which one it was until it was too late, and Riza smiled proudly, very impressed with how well Yula was doing. * * * * * Even after she heard her name called by the nurse Katie continued to sit in the same spot, sipping her soda and trying to figure out why she felt so nervous. 'It's probably just because it's a gym battle, and I know Gardenia will be tough.' She slowly finished the rest of her soda and put the can into a recycling bin before she finally went over and claimed her Pokemon from the nurse, uttering a quick thank you as she did so. Once each sphere had been returned to its place on her belt she headed out of the pokecenter, slowly making her way down the street towards the Eterna City gym.
It was practically impossible to miss the gym, as it was a fairly large building with many trees and flower gardens set all around it. Katie approached it somewhat cautiously, stopping at the path that lead up to the front doors. "Well, here I go," she murmured aloud before slowly making her way up the cobblestone path, taking the time to admire the flowers and other greenery as she did so. When she reached the front doors she pushed them open and went inside the gym. She was a little surprised to find that the first room was small, grey and very dark, with only a single door ahead of her. There was a mat on the floor in front of it that said 'Welcome!' in big, bold letters, along with a cartoon-picture of Gardenia, smiling hugely. Katie couldn't help but smile too as she opened the single door, not sure what to expect as she went inside....

Now on the second round of their match, the twins stood on the sidelines of the designated battle area. The first round round had ended somewhat unexpectedly, and the two teenagers where on their toes, ready to issue their commands.
"Hades, use Faint Attack!" Junko called out to her Duskull. The girl was still a bit upset about the prior incident, but she new it was only an accident. She clenched her fists tightly, wanting to win more than anything at the moment. She heard her brother instruct his Cyndaquil to use Ember from the other side.
Hades was also a tad miffed about having to take the attack from the blue slug. He would however, take a million attacks from anyone to protect his purple haired friend. The specter floated nonchalantly towards his Fire Type opponent. He watched as Pizza yawned a third time, and he stuck his big red tongue out from under his skull and waved one of his hands in a friendly manner.
"Pizza! Don't just stand there!" Jomei yelled out at his sleepy fire mouse. Although he felt bad about almost bowling over his littler sister with a wayward water attack, Jomei wasn't ready to lose. He clenched his egg tightly while he watched his Cyndaquil tilt its head at the ghost. He did his best not to crack the poor unborn Pokemon's protective shell when the Duskull threw a sucker punch at his unassuming parter. C'mon, you can do better than that Jomei thought, gritting his teeth. "Wake up and use Ember already!" He commanded again.
Pizza rubbed his face and growled lowly. He wasn't really expecting that, as he was still half-asleep. Now wide awake, flames burst from the Pokemon's back side. He opened his mouth and shot a small ball of fire directly at the Requiem Pokemon in front of him.

All Kasiya could really do at the moment was smile and pat Mitsu's hand reassuringly, and as she watched the purple-haired girl and the Breloom, she was certain that she was missing out on a telepathic conversation. She gave Mitsu's hand another squeeze and kissed the top of Portabello's head before making her way out of the room, feeling like she was intruding even though she couldn't hear a word that was being said. She knew better than to try and convince Mitsu to tell her what was bothering her, and all she could do was hope that at some point Mitsu would trust her enough to confide in her.
Her head was still swimming from the influx of information she'd received from Sabrina, though every time she thought of the fact that her friend was in fact alive it caused her to have a minor anxiety attack. She started to make her way back towards the main room but stopped and lingered in the hallway. She knew she had to get herself together before she went back and saw Mike again, as she could still see him pretty clearly in her mind, broken, battered. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, trying her best to regain her composure. She also had no idea how he and Keegan were currently getting along, and the last thing she wanted to do was leave him and the highly volatile redhead in the same room for too long.
=-=-=-=-= It was quickly becoming apparent that the elder (yet smaller) Gyarados had the upperhand, but the younger, territory-invading Gyarados had no intentions of quitting and threw himself into a fury-fueled Thrash. By this point Jaeshan's father had finally recovered enough composure and common sense to get back to the helm and try to steer them away from the rampaging Pokemon, and Jaeshan felt a bit of relief wash over him - no wait, that was an actual wave of water, not a metaphor - and once again Jaeshan was on the deck, struggling to grab a hold of anything he could. The elder Gyarados seemed to have finally lost his patience, and he too began Thrashing about.
It all happened so fast that no one was entirely sure what had even happened until after the fact. The smaller Gyarados had spun around, whirling his massive tail with as much force as he could muster. It collided against the other with the force of a train, and with a weak cry it toppled back, crashing into the water and sending a large tsunami of water heading for the yacht, its size seemingly paling in comparison to the two warring behemoths. The wave of water rocked the yacht like it were a toy boat, and Jaeshan was vaguely aware of his feet leaving the deck, and as much as he wanted to cry out in fear, his whole body seemed to be frozen in shock. When he hit the water, he seemed to wake up. Perhaps it was the fear of drowning, or it might have been something else, but suddenly he was fighting against the pull of the waters with all his strength.
