I don't know what it felt like, Gion replied. It just felt weird. Like a cloud or a fog on my shoulder ... I wasn't expecting anything like that ...
He cleared his throat and took another deep breath.
All right, let's try this again
He closed his eyes and listened again.

It's those kind of feelings that would be good to look for... it would warn you about creatures that are about people big.
Daemon advised.
I would suspect it is easier in elves than in sensing in humans... most of the time.

So that was me feeling your presence? Gion asked curiously. And you think I should be able to feel anyone's presence, then? Or just when I'm concentrating? Or only if they're using magic on me?

With time and practice you should be able to do so unconciously, though it'll feel strange at first, generally the biggest leap in an excerise like this is to be aware that there are other forces out there. Daemon explained.

Forces ... life forces? Magic forces? Gion was confused. What do you mean?

Both actually.... there's a fine line between the energies that one would say is the spirit or soul and magical energy itself. They are techically two different things.
He tried to explain.
For example back in Gaia some fighters have the ability to increase their strength, or speed, this is accessing their life force... or known to the East as Chi.. or Ki whichever you wish to call it. Others have a great deal of spiritual energy, that one is a bit more complicated and if Yume was here she would explain it to you better than I. It's a... state of mind more than anything else. Magical energy is another force all together. The way the three forces work wtih each other and they do depending on the person it can become very.... complicated.

And you think you can teach me to feel them and feel the differences between them? Gion questioned, unslinging his pack and pulling out his blanket.

Yes... a lot of it is gut feeling and practice, though with the amount of magical beings in this lack I dont' think practice would be a hard thing. It takes a lot of time, but yes I believe so. Daemon replied.

Gion grinned and lay down, covering himself with his blanket.
Perhaps we can continue in the morning, he thought tiredly. It's well past midnight, I need to rest.

Ah yes... of course of course.... for once I wish I could feel the passing of time... the irony of the fact I use to be annoyed when I felt tired. Daemon mused thoughtfully.

Gion chuckled his silent chuckle.
Well I'll be sure to let you know when it's daylight and I'm awake again, he assured Daemon. And if you wouldn't mind periodically just saying something to make sure I'm not sleeping too deeply to hear anything sneaking up on me, that would be wonderful as well.

Daemon kept watch (as well as a sword could) through out the night trying to keep to himself anything he was trying to use to keep track of the time. Every once in a while asking Gion if he was a too asleep.

Gion woke with the early morning sun shining direcly into his eyes. He stretched and yawned, then pulled out some food and started to eat.
Good morning, he thought to Daemon as he took a bite.
Well it wasn't as if anyone could accuse him of talking with his mouth full.
