Unfortunately for them, the Rock Snake had already been disturbed from it's slumber, by the rock kicked in it's direction, which bounced off it's hide.

It had reared upwards, and bared it's fangs, revealing itself to the two women, quite directly.

So stop or not, it was there, and it would have to be either dealt with, or run away from.

eek gonk stressed oops....

sweatdrop crap...*Rave stepped back and pulled a crystal dagger from the hidden sheath at the small of her back and looked forlornly at the big snake like thing and her small shining blade, rainbows dancing around them as the crystal reflected the sunlight* You just had to say it, didn't you?... couldn't just be happy for a little walk and let fate go on not knowing we were here xp

Oh well, suppose I have been getting rather too lazy of late whee *the little red head looked at Tellus out of the corner of her eye never taking her attention off the monster as she smiled* I did always want a fancy pair of snake skin boots blaugh

*she laughed to herself as if it was the greatest joke she had ever heard and pushed her shades higher up her nose as a bright white wisp appeared at her side. With a little flick of her hand she sent the hot little ball of light towards the monster wondering if there was a simple chance that they could blind it temporarily and then run away*

*when the wisp reached about a foot away from the rock snake it would burst in a flash of light and heat, hopefully the monster would be blinded, although there was little hope that the heat would affect it, seeing as how it was a creature that lived in such a naturally hot environment*

Sunstrike
Sunstrike's heart sank like a stone.

"Leader....me?!" My people. Could I actually...again......his eyes narrowed and then closed. "And how much "help" where you planning on giving me from the shadows brother?" There was something, strange in his tone, and his stance shifted. Then he looked away. "No matter, what'd done is done, and there's a hell of a lot that needs finishing now without looking too deeply into loyalties. I'm trusting you, Engel. And I hope you'll grow to trust me, else we're all dead."

If Engel didn't feel it before, he would now. Dearc suddenly gave off a prescence, an attitude of someone that was used to leadership roles. His shoulders were back, his stance grew and the gaze...

His eyes were always rather strange, shifting depending on mood and attitude, but over all lazy and carefree.

Now they were in stark focus, and his pupils were red, mad circles that gleamed with all the usual emotions you'd associate with a leader. It was a "How can I use you completely without destroying you," attitude, a mixture of paranoia, confidence, and the constant need to set things up with the advantage being for HIS people rather then anyone else, no matter what the stakes.

It was a scary change, because there was also a coldness that had NEVER been associated with Sunstrike before. This was something that would be alien to his friends, and much darker and ruthless then he'd been before.

"Right now we need to get that animal of a general back here before he brings the whole united human kingdom down upon us, if we're lucky, the great pathetic fool. There's worse things in Strata then humans at the moment that'll be brought down. Probably hoping to win leadership points of his own by going off like that. That was what you were shouting about down the hall, correct?" The multi coloured eyes blazed.

"Come Engel, you need to show me how to get him back." This was said with great reluctance. Dearc didn't want to be reliant on this masked lizard at all. When your surrounded by sucpicious people, it was best if you knew what to do yourself. But he had no choice, and he'd rather trust in this lizard then any of the others. "I imagine the council needs a summons, even if I have to drag them each by their scaly fat tails to the table."

The door was flung open, and two guards nearly had their arms wrenched off as Sunstrike grabbed the downcoming weapons meant to block his path. He growled viciously at them, and waited for Engel to pass and lead him in the right direction. Intelligence warring with sheer rage.

Silently he stood, letting Sunstrike speak as he wanted to. All the same.... even worse. Treating me like the dirt under your fingernails.... human....lizard...all the same.

Engel, over-all General of the Lizard Clan's military forces, stood stock still, while he allowed the spoiled, and apparently prodigal son of the late Chief go on and on. It was all for show after all.

However, he never budged, or showed any instance of wilting, let alone faltering. He hadn't gotten to where he was, by just letting people walk all over him. In fact-- out of anyone Sunstrike had met thus far on this journey, Engel was the most forthright being.

As Sunstrike made for the doorway, and became blocked once more by the two guards, Engel finally spoke.

"Becoming Chief of this clan is no joke. It is not something that you are sworn into, or assume overnight. You of all people should know that. Before your people can recognize you as their leader, you have to undergo....the trials. Like your father before you....and his father...and his father...so on, so forth."

Engel moved forward, his tail swishing back and forth lazily, as he waved the guards off.

"The priests are making the preparations as we speak....For now, there is nothing more we can do about Zanzaban. You must....declare him a traitor, in order that the humans don't come back down on us when we are not even prepared for a sortie."

He lowered his head, moving out of the room. "Politics....Dearc, is as dangerous as any sword or rifle." He paused in thought for a moment.

"You are free to go as you please, within Hollow. By now, the news has spread, and all know of what has happened here."

Sunstrike looked down. And to the side, watching as the guards walked off. So many emotions, half were his, half were Dearcs...what was right?

"I never considered it a joke, Engel." The tone was suddenly a lot softer as he pulled himself back in, feeling a bit the fool. It was like he'd had all the lessons, knew all the rules, but was suddenly thrust within a classroom without any experiance at being with other people.

To everyone around him here, he wouldn't have the experience to show strong leadership. They'd never seen him, not heard of him, and now he was prancing about like he knew it all? No wonder Engel didn't like him. Which was a thought that had the old Sunstrike written all over it. Strangly enough, he needed this older lizards support, otherwise he felt like a balloon with it's string cut.

"It's just that I have no time...none of us do. You don't believe me...fine, I can live with that for now, and hope that I can prove myself otherwise. The trials you speak of...the traditional rights, I should...I should know these things..." A black scaled hand rose to shield eyes as Sunstrike tried to delve into his thoughts. Then he sighed when all he met was darkness.

Then he looked up at the lizard in the doorway.

"Do you want me to fail, Engel?"

"........It does not matter what I want." Engel responded, with the same kind of blunt truth as usual. Whether he wanted Susntrike to fail or succeed, he had no sway over these things.

His duty was to protect and fight for his Clan. Leading them...was a different story altogether.

As Hono moved, so did Tellus moving closer to the beast, suing the nagamaki as a focus to...suck all of the heat from the air around the snake, as well as adding her own energy to forma barrier of ice around the snake. Snakes by their very nature are cold bloodied and that much cold that quickly would put any snake to sleep almost immediately. She didn't want to harm the creature, just not let it eat them for lunch either. It wouldn't last for long but hopefully long enough for them to run for their lives. THe ice would build quickly eventually building almost 6 inches all the way around the animal, going by the temperature it would only take a matter of minutes for it to melt but it would take longer still for the statis effect to wear off.

"Get us the hell out of here Hono...Somewhere east, so that the night will be sooner and it will be colder and the snakes asleep most likely." Even as she began to sag to the ground, using the maki to hold herself upright, she would be feeling the effects of that for a short bit.

*Rave was trying really hard not to let her teeth chatter as she reached out for Tellus and prayed that they didn't jump too blindly...someplace open, not too far, but east and well away from here...* gonk this is soooo, not a good idea....

*all it would take would be the lightest touch and the pair would disappear in a cloud of silver sparkles, to re-appear someplace unknown but along the lines of where Hono had been hopping for*

Sunstrike barked out an ironic laugh.

"Is that supposed to make me go off on one again, Engel? Gahhh, you're so much like him it hurts to hear you...." Silence stretched as Sunstrike mused and ached. "I've waisted your time long enough, go do what you need to do, to preserve order, I'm sure the priests will send one of their servants when the time comes to prepare."

He hesitated. "But...when you have a small amount of time left to you, maybe in an evening or something, I'd...like it if you could lend me some of your knowledge."

The Rock Snake looked almost dumbfounded, that is if snakes could have looks of any kind at all to begin with, as it became immobile.

It couldn't for the faintest reason figure out why though.....

~~

Him? Engel turned his head to the side, feral eyes taking Sunstrike in, before he turned again, tail uplifted and swishing.

"I'll see what I can do...."

It'd be interesting for sure, to see if this was truly Dearc...and exactly how much he remembered of his life here within Hollow. For now, he had business to attend to, such as messages to be sent out and posts to be fortified, just in case.

~~

The Rock Snake never felt an initial loss of body heat, since it's whole life consists of these desert sands alone, and its body acted much like a storage unit of sorts. Basically, all the heat it had accumulated over the years from the sun's rays...which in turn meant that the ice was melting quicker than they could account for.... but of course, it meant nothing.

Because in the next instant the two women literally blinked out of existance.

The Rock Snake was soon thawed out and stared forward for a bit, before deciding internally it was retarded.

~~

Engel made his way down the hallway, head lowered, and a clawed hand upon the masked side of his face. ....Just who is it.....that he keeps referring to....?

A good two hour walk to the east a cloud of silver sparkles appeared, 10 feet above a tall sand dune!

*Rave let out a shriek of surprise as they suddenly started to drop towards the ground, loosing her contact with Tellus before her feet hit the sand and she shouted out again waving her arms wildly for a moment before she tumbled over back wards and slid down the side of the dune*

*coming to a rest at the bottom of the tall dune Rave spit out sand and started to cough a bit, suddenly the desert was not so nice anymore... she could feel the sand in her long red hair, and between her clothes* Okay... for future reference, I am not doing that again! stare

Either we know where we are, or we know exactly where we are going... if we know neither I am not bouncing us anywhere except back to Munin, seeing as it is my tie to her that lets me know where she is... eek .... Sun has a tie to Munin too...*Raven sat up, her hands sinking a bit in the sand as she looked for Tellus* I could try and follow the tie between Munin and Sunstrike back to him!

Sunstrike

PostPosted: Wed Oct 05, 2005 4:33 am

Sunstrike watched the other leave before heaving a sigh. Softly he began to growl at himself, pacing across the floor, back and forth back and forth.

What am I thinking?! What's...happening to me? There was the salamander, and there was me...there was no Dearc, there was no...

His head jerked up. In someone who had multiple personalities....the dominant ones usually warred with one another...but sometimes, there was a smaller voice, pushed to the background, knowing if it came too far forward, the other two would rip it apart. Maybe

Maybe he's the one that's...that's really me. Datho isn't me...Salamander...is feral, so where else would I get the lighter emotions from...the love, the ability to fight for a reason, the need for friends...

His arms crossed in front of his chest. This was too weird. Then agan, he was such a nightmare of bits and pieces. Why the hell not? Henry would have needed a personality to undermine Datho's sheer will and darkness, someone that would, on some level or another, get along enough with the Salamander so it didn't mentally rip the person apart. That must have been Dearc...and so became someone else all together...Sunstrike.

There was a soft sigh as he sat down on the ground, thinking hard. So that would mean there must be some memories, somewhere...but there was no time to dig them out! He'd have to rely on them cropping up when situations happend, or else when Engel talked to him...

Engel...up until this point he couldn't tell the older lizard that Sun was reminded of Vahn. It was the whole "to the point" attitude of him that had brought nothing but respect from Sunstrike, because you always admire those things in people that you wish you had, but don't.

Vahn Sadness filled him. What will you think of me now, my friend, that those rogues have taken it into their heads to attack....we're gonna be in serious trouble if you want revenge...

He was tempted to venture out at this point, and began rumaging about for better clothes.

A dark storm slowly moved down the desert-casting sand everywhere from it's violent clutches. Only darkness could be seen past a point-upon further observation you could make out a few things inside it-particularaly a person who didn't like all this heat-light-and sand. To be quite frank-Peppa wished the deserts never existed.

If it wasn't for there beauty-he very well may have tried to eradicate such wastelands of a habbitat.

Peppa-as most people knew-was a vampire. He was often at first glanced as a cruel terrible man. Tho' that was just because he was a vampire sith. Darth Errant-his proud title of the sith-meant to have no boundaries, something Peppa held well sometimes.

Strapped to his black pants was a metal object-newly finished and untested. The thing could explode any second for all Peppa knew-but he really didn't care. The thing was designed perfectly-would only take an idiot to have messed up this design.

Which most often-was the problem.

He'd smile faintly-growing tired of this endless waling through the desert. With a slight flick of the wrist-he would concentrate the heat by means of the force into the sand. Within no time he had a long path of glass which he would than cool off by dissapating the heat energy.

Now walking on a long sturday glass path-Peppa seemed a little more happy.

The doors to Sunstrike's room opened yet again, as two lizards came inside. shoulder upon them both, was a fairly large, rounded out basin, a tub of sorts. As both lizards hefted it downwards, it was clearly seen to be empty.

Wordlessly, both left, only to be replaced by a small entourage of smaller lizards, more feminine looking, if at all possible. Each carried a wooden bucket, dumping it's contents carefuly into the basin, one after the other.

Eventually it would be filled near the brim, and steam would be issuing out from it's surface. Apparently, they had prepared him a bath.

Another lizard came in finally, and set down upon what passed for a bed, a flowing tunica, cut and embroidered specifically for their race. It was a mix between greco-roman and tribal, always free flowing and never restricting. Because of course, they had private parts that needed covering up, just anyone else.

Sunstrike nearly leapt out of his skin at this little procession of servants, blinking a bit in awe as everything mechanically fell into place. So this is what it's like...he'd always been rather curious about people that had servants, and how one worked around them. He was half relieved when one asked him if he wanted them to stay or not. He thanked them, and told them no, he was fine on his own.

When they'd all left, Sun gave the bath a look. In all honesty it was rough on him mentally to immerse himself into water. This wasn't to say that he didn't clean himself regularly, he could even swim, if the pool wasn't too deep. But it made him dizzy and uncomfortable unless it was good and hot, which this water seemed to be. His old clothing was no more then rags anyway.

He began to shed the bandages and clothes and got into the tub before thinking about it too much, letting the heat get drawn into his body. This would have a strange effect on the scars of his body, and the wounds would begin to heal themselves much faster then if he'd just laid in bed.

For once, he had took a good hard look at what he'd become. The scales about his body were just as flexible as human skin, and the more fleshier parts, under the arms, up the sides, were really no different.

Everything visual was hard to focus upon without turning ones head, because a great muzzle of a nose got in the way, which had the odd effect of giving him a serious blind spot...this didn't bother him as much as it probably should have, because he'd gotten used to being rather near sighted anyway, a drawback to his strange eyes. Everything seemed a bit denser, in a way. Bone structure, and muscles were a lot heavier, which made the wings a literal pain in the neck. But he'd only ever used them as an extra balance anyway.

He stretched and purred softly, enjoying the warmth a bit longer before getting out, toweled off, and took a good hard look at the robes. They were simple enough looking to get on, so he gently pulled it all on, belting what needed fastening.

After everything was finished, he walked to the door and cautiously took a look out to the hallway.

He would find that there were no longer any guards posted riectly outside of his doorway, but as near standard procedure, there indeed guards for normal security every so often in the hallways and what not.

Add to that the bustling amount of activity ever present in Hollow, from younglings scampering about, workmen ferrying goods back and forth, females tidying and preparing meals, to the occasional entourage of Guards, marching along.

Sunstrike had seen one side of the coin.... Now begun the other half.
