why are drummers so cocky??? its not like they have a hard instrument all they have to do is keep tempo i do that playing the a. sax and the baritone...

i've picked up the drums n there not hard... set is but im talking about marching drums...

Yeeeeeah, offense taken. Why doesn everyone think we Percussionists have such an easy instrument! You have to learn fingering and buzzing and blah blah blah and i respect that and u have the Alt. Sax and Baritone but we have to learn more intstruments then u could handle! ours is hard, and we have to work hard. we have to switch instruments sometimes during songs and learn them all and learn rudiments, fingering, notes, etc. in another section i named only 50 inst. we play in our band and i can name more. and our band isn't cocky. maybe we're stressed sometimes, but if drummers mess up tempo, the whole band is doomed. it messes up tempo, then notes, then rests, then ka-boom. "boo"s from audiences everywhere. and still have to learn notes, don't think we're off the hook! we have marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, timpani, chimes, etc. we work hard and we just get told off by ppl like u that call us cocky.

our band is pretty peaceful. they respect us, we respect them. they have hard instruments and so do we considering we have only 6 percussionists.

but i made State Honor Band from percussion and i really wish u would stop treating us like crap how we're so easy.

I do mallets, not drums, but I have to give the drummers credit. I mean I would not want to have to do visuals with a harness and a drum on. I've marched a xylophone before and I didn't like that and it was just for parade. I don't think the drummers have it that easy. I don't know about other school, but at mine, the percussionists are the best part of the band. The pit and battery seem to hold my band up. The drummers at my school are expected to be able to play their music at tempo within like 30 minutes of getting it. I see how hard they work and it just seems like they do a lot more than many parts of the band both with music and marching.

Thank you sooo much for someone actually agreeing with me. Same as my school.
((I'm usually mallets but I do a bit of drumming sometimes))
