Gervain, who had been about to leave for home - maybe Shadi would be smart enough to remember they lived together... and there were those corpses to take care of - when the man he had bumped into returned, looking skeptical. He looked up, fixing an expression of mild confusion onto his blank face. "What was what?" he asked, feigning innocence. Of course, he knew exactly what was going on. The other had to be a mage in order to spark such a reaction - or even to feel it. Most regular humans weren't in touch enough with their senses to feel a magical shock and this man had obvously felt it, or he wouldn't have been so surprised earlier. And yet... if he were a mage, he would be much more careful than what he had desplayed. Unless he was confident... or stupid. gervain hated people like that and his mouth set into a slight frown of disaproval. If he could... if he could manage it, this man would most likely not live to see the next day. Damn it, where was Shadi when he needed him?!

((Of course, he's completely forgetting that it was he who left Shadi after taking his bag. xD;;;

Sorry for any mispellings or typos. My spelling has never been good and I'm on a laptop, which makes it hard for me to type correctly... @_@ And my eyes kinda really hurt 'cus I'm tired.

Speaking of which, I have to go to bed now. 'Night. xD;;;; ))

Leif would've shoved the guy into the wall if he weren't terrified of causing another rift in the earth. So he glared at him with those piercing eyes, trying to will him to be honest. "Did you do that, or me?" He demanded again, his tone lower and more threatening. Because of the cold, he was already emotionally on edge, which made his untrained hidden power restless inside him, lurking around under his skin looking for a crack to crawl out through. A very fine tremor shook the ground beneath him, much like the feeling of a car driving by. People who played ignorant pissed him off. He closed his eyes and counted to ten, his heart jumping up into his throat. "What the hell..." He muttered helplessly. He had no clue about mages, he just knew weird things happened to him and he didn't like it. He had no clue that there was an amazing power flowing through his viens.

Kaya departed room 290 at precisely 9:00 pm. He wanted to say goodnight to Paul before going home himself. He ticked of the numbers of the rooms, thirty seconds between each doorway. With twenty doors between himself and the elevator, it would taketen minutes to walk it. He didn't feel it was fast enough so he started to jog slightly. 15 seconds to each door now, that would cut it down to about five minutes. Room 284, 283 had a few boys in it that looked like they were about to leave. He noticed the faces though. He'd only seen them in passing that same afternoon, lying in the street." You're not planning a jail break in your conditions are you? I know it's none of my business but are you two gonna be okay?" he asked, not really caring that they were trying to leave. He only worried that they'd be okay when they left, he couldn't fault them for wanting out either. He didn't like hospitals either, doctors seemed to always want to stick needles in him for some reason or another.

"I was gonna ask what his favorite kind of story is...." Kuno lied as he took the piece of paper and looked it over before quickly putting it in his pocket. It would be stupid to ask...stupid AND careless...then everyone would either know I'm a mage, or think I'm insane...and I can't be exposed...and I can't be committed to an asylum... Kuno thought as he unconciously raised the temperature around himself again. "How long am I suppose to keep him?" Kuno asked.

" Kiyo's fond of things with dragons in them...or anything mythical, really. And for today, you only need him for a few hours...." Shiyaa looked over at the clock in the shop, " Only three today. If he wants to go home during that time, he has a key, so you can go there if you wish...and don't worry about cleaning, I like picking up.."

Kiyo returned to Shiyaa's side, staring up at Kuno. He hugged Shiyaa's leg, muttering a good bye before moving next to Kuno, a small black bag on his back. Shiyaa smiled at Kiyo, telling him to be good.

" I'm always good, Mama," He smiled happily as Shiyaa ruffled his hair, then reached for Kuno's hand, staring up at him once again.

Skyy edged the wheelchair out of his open door, hobbling on his single foot. He peeked his head out in time to see a door close to one of the 'Authorized Personnel' rooms. It seemed Kalen was right. It was just like clockwork. Without hesitating another moment, the dark-haired boy hurriedly wheeled Kalen towards the desks where the elevators were. Over and over in his mind, he was telling himself not to stumble and not to trip. That would definitely lose some of their much needed time.

But it seemed luck was with them for the moment. His fist connected with the down arrow and the doors opened. Inside they went and Skyy released a soft sigh of relief. "Alright.. I hope that was the hard part," he said.
As the elevator doors closed and a that soft tremble took place right before the box descended in the shaft, Kalen also released a sigh of relief. "... I think that was good. How's your ankle?" he asked, pulling out his gloves from his bag and pulling them on. He knew they were about to go into the cold if they made it through the lobby. But unless his extremities were covered, Kalen lost his body heat quickly. With the magic he'd already used trying to heal Skyy, to the heat drawn out by the cold he'd been exposed to earlier that day, it couldn't be good if he continued on like that.

A soft ding rang, informing the pair that the lobby level had been reached.

Cole was silently walking down the street, the ground simultaneously melting and re-freezing as he took each step, leaving strange looking inverted icicles as he walked. He was looking for something...or someone...though he didn't know what. He decided to start in the nearby coffee shop. He walked in silently, passing by a young man, a small boy, and a another, rather feminine, young man. He tried to walks past them, but bumped into the young man who was wearing a backpack. He then went to the nearest table and sat down, crossing his arms on the table and resting his head on his crossed arms. What am I doing here? Was I sent here? How did I get here? When did I get here? he thought to himself.

When the stranger bumped into him, Kuno lost his balance and fell over, the contents of his backpack dumping onto the floor. Among the things that fell out of his backpack were a small dagger, a mirror with a black metal frame, and several books, among which were the following: Homelands by R. A. Salvatore, The Complete Book of Swords by Fred Saberhagen, and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There by Lewis Carroll, as well as a book labeled The Wizard's Handbook.

"I'm still standing, but let's not jinx it," Skyy replied. He couldn't wait to step outside into the fresh air, no matter how cold. The hospital always smelled like all too ready needles and bitter medicines, but worst of all disease. No matter where you went, you couldn't really escape the smell.

In the short time they had in the elevator, the photographer messily worked to button his coat nearly halfway up before he heard the warning bell of the elevator. He once more regripped the handles and readied to dash out. His heart skipped a beat, however, as the doors began to slide open to reveal a figure on the other side.. but he was quick to feel silly for having been alarmed. A man with a walker, looking nearly eighty years old offered a smile at the two boys. "Evening ladies," his elderly voice cracked as he shuffled his way into the elevator.

Skyy returned with a somewhat nervous sounding laugh and a short 'hi' before bolting out into the lobby. The doors. He could see the doors, and it appeared all the employees were still out. Perfect.

With his one-footed trot, the dark-haired youth was making his way for the door -thank God for automatic doors- and they were out. "Taxi, taxi," he mumbled to himself. "Do you see a taxi anywhere?"

Kalen's eyes widened and he had to cover his mouth with a hand to prevent laughter from escaping. Ladies?! Wow. But unable to dwell on the old man's senile attempt at courtesy, Kalen was soon more concerned with the scarce lobby. Having mixed emotions of gratitude and anxiety, he was pushed out into the cold and couldn't withhold a sharp gasp as the cold air rushed into his lungs with the first breath.

He hurried himself to recover quickly and his eyes darted around looking for that -supposedly- scarce taxi. Seeing them zinging by the curb every few seconds, he was appalled at Skyy's seemingly obliviousness. "Are you mad?!" he exclaimed, "Fling out a hand and hail one for pete's sake. They don't just STOP. Where's your New Yorker attitude?!"

"Well forgive me if I'm a bit timid to readily jump into the road to stop a taxi after having been hit by one only some hours ago," Skyy retorted, moving much more timidly than before. His eyes darted all along the sidewalk, scoping for any patches of ice that either he or Kalen could slip on. With either one of them sliding, it wouldn't end in a pretty picture. And with his careful steps, he managed to make it to the edge of the curb. He was fairly positive no one could have noticed their escape so soon.

One lift of the arm, and a taxi passed. A second attempt, and another missed ride. After a third obviously empty vehicle nonchalantly passed them, Skyy scowled. A light gust of wind seemed to blow in from seemingly out of nowhere, tousling his hair in the process. "Taxi!!" he yelled, almost violently throwing his hand toward the street. And with the effort, along came a ride pulling up beside them. "God, finally.."

It was way past due for a cup of coffee...

"You need help getting in or what?" he asked.

Slowly, a wide, sly smile spread across Gervain's slips - a mixture of grin an smirk. Orange eyes following the other's small movements - tensing, trying to steady himself... the signs of stress. He coiled a strand of ebony hair around one finger - the index finger of his right hand, the ring two fingers down glinting in the morning light. "I'm sorry... did I do what?" he asked, feigning a look of surprised concern. "Are you sure you're feeling alright...?" If he could take care of this man quickly, quietly... Mage corpses were always much nicer than regular human ones... There was a certain... vitality to the corpses.

Kalen bit his tongue and said no more with the unfriendly reminder of the incident. He couldn't help but feel a tinge guilty for being the one in the cab that hit Skyy. His heated breath left his body with a puff of steam with every exhalation as he waited impatiently for the taxi. "Bastards," he mumbled beneath his breath, annoyed as the three passed them by. When the fourth stopped for them, Kalen thought the very same thing the other voiced. He shook his head, declining the offer of aid.

"I'll do it," he preferred, faltering only slightly as he climbed out of the wheelchair, balanced on his good leg and hopped into the cab. He winced as he slid over in the seat, his leg hitting the median between the two foot compartments. Once situated, he gave the cab driver his address. "682 Christopher Street. The Village."

Kalen slid his arms through his jacket's sleeves in the cab, trying to retain body heat. This... wasn't good. He could feel energy trickling away once again and he wasn't even fighting! Blue eyes slid over to gaze at Skyy and he waited for the other to get in and get that door closed.

[[Er... yeah, Mie. I think our times are definitely going to get off. Cuz.. we're at like, 9pm over here.]]

As soon as Kalen removed himself from the chair, Skyy began to work to fold it so it could fit into the cab He looked it up and down, turning any switch and pulling any lever he could find. After each new find, he tried to jerk the thing closed. There were several unsuccessful attempts, but after pulling two rather small levers behind the back wheels, the chair folded shut. "Yes!" he exclaimed under his breath wrestling the thing into the vehicle after himself.

It rested in front of himself, just off the toes of his feet. With his uninjured foot at ease once more, he sighed with the numbing relief that flooded over it. After the door had been shut, allowing no more of the cab's heat to escape into the night air, they started off.

"Hey.. You alright?" he asked, looking Kalen over all bundled in his jacket. "You look.. stressed or something."

((Eh... it's okay. xD I know I left it unclear, so it's fine.

Also... you guys crack me up. Two injured people hobbling unnoticed out of a hospital? xDDD ))

With the door closed and the taxi off, speeding down the street, Kalen shifted himself on the seat uncomfortably. The hospital hadn't been blazing hot... but it was better than the poorly-heated cab. Kalen began to feel the effects of using his energy earlier that day and being so exposed simultaneously. He couldn't believe he'd left his own hat in the other cab. Along with his scarf! Hearing the other's voice, he shook his head, no. "Not really. I... I'm, um," he paused, trying to think of the word he used to explain it as a human might. "I'm anemic," he lied to explain himself. His voice quavered slightly as a shiver ran down his spine. His gloved fingers raised themselves to his hair and pulled out the hair tie, letting violent red locks cascade over his shoulder. "... Meaning I'm just... super sensitive to cold," he continued, stashing away the hair tie in his bag and rummaging around for a set of house keys.
[[haha. yeeeah. but hey. Anything's possible, eh? ;D]]
