Peep smiled and fished the acorn back out. "Here, I bet you could make a hat from the acorns top." He offered it to her as they stepped between two large pine trees that lead to The Home.
Quinth took it in her arms; to the little pixie, the acorn was the size of a baby and she held it as if it were. A childish, selfish smile grew on her face as she hugged it greedily.
Answeri grinned, having caught on to one of the rules of Faerie. "What a nice gift for Peep to give you. I guess he doesn't owe you anymore."
Quinth halted, and turned to face Answeri... ._. "What."
"A gift for a gift." Peep chuckled, hidding his grinn with a sleeve as he hopped through a snow drift.
Quinth's jaw opened and closed a few times and Answeri snickered but tried to play innocent. "You look like a fish," she giggled.
A little vein popped out of the side of the pixie's forehead and throbbed. "L-lets... keep going..." she ground out, slowly moving forward to the Home before them.
Within the deep snow, nestled cozily, was a huge wooden cabin that extended beyond their line of sight into the foresty area, evergreens topped with snow. The picturesque scene was completed as the large doors opened and a warm, inviting light and heat reached out toward them.
Peeps eyes widdend and he rushed in. "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat!!!"
He sighed happily as the snow that collected on his shoulders melted away. "Mmmmm <3"
"Greeting and good fortune, sir, welcome Home," said a faerie kindly, bowing. The creature moved slightly awkwardly, as if the joints weren't connected properly, and strings that faded into the air above it were used to lift the fey up.
"Hello, Marion, good fortune," Quinth fluttered inside, shivering at the change in temperature.
Answeri peeked in cautiously.
Peep was all but purring as he settled into the heat, eyes hooded. "Father was right, this place is great <3"
He waved at awnseri with his back to her. "Come in Awnseri, its rude to lingure in doorways."
Answeri entered and gave Marion a dubious look as Quinth rolled her eyes. "Marion, they wish you greetings and fortune as well. Could you explain the rules? They're mortal."
"Of course," he smiled. "First of all, always be polite. Manners make merry! Second, you must always wish everyone you meet greetings and good fortunes. Always remember that a gift must be exchanged for a gift. Violence is not permitted in the House, and will be punished. Everyone takes turns between work and play. That's all!"
Answeri tried not to look intmidated, inching behind the short eight-year-old.
Peep gave a short bow. "Thank you sir." He rubbed his arms. "this will be good." peep said to awnseri, looking back to her. "We can rest, maybe even get a meal before we figure out just what in the name of beory is going one."
"You still need to tell me how you got here," Quinth whispered, as Marion began moving away down the hall towards the interior of the Home. Behind them, the doors closed.
"Mm." Peep nodded. "Lets find a place to sit down and I'll tell you everything thats happened so far...maybe your insite will help us find my brother.."
They followed Marion to the end of the hall, where he paused and changed the sign hung on the wall from "The Music Room" to "The Dining Hall". Above the sign was a hand pointing down the opposite hall. Marion nodded to them as Quinth began down the hall. "Thank you, Marion." "You're ever welcome, Ambassador."
Peep nodded after a moment understanding. "Thank you sir." He bowe and quickly followed after quinth. "...food?" he looked hopeful.
"It is the Dining Hall," Quinth smiled, as they entered the huge room. Fey of all shapes and sizes and sub-types were gathered around, moving past seemingly infinite tables stocked high with piles of food and laden with bowls of drink. Answeri's eyes went starry as she gawked at the food everywhere.
Nearby, a large man in rich red robes, his hair decorated with a crown similar to a wreath, motioned for everyone to welcome the newcomers. "Greetings and well met, travelers!" boomed the faerie. His fur cape swished as he reached for more wine, though his cheeks were already flushed. His eyes twinkled gleefully. "Ambassador Quinth, back again so soon?"
Peep stared at him wided eye, he was huge!!! "G-greetings and g-good fortune S-sir.....thank you for your kind hospitality...Ah! I am Peep de Dirk." He bowed again. "And this is my......gaurdian Awnseri." He elbowed her to be polite.
"Greeting and good fortune!" Answeri recited, eyes huge.
Quinth stumbled on an answer. "Ah... yes, Your Majesty. How could I avoid the Home when Queen Maeve's court leaves such cold within me? Thank you for this gracious gift of audience and hospitality. Might I offer this gift, from a newly-made court?" She held out the acorn.
The man gave a booming merry laugh. "A newly-made court? I must send an Ambassador of my own. Your gift is appreciated," he waved, and a little moving candle stepped forward to stretch out its wax arms. Quinth lowered and handed over the acorn, and the candle scurried away on dripping wax feet.
"A gift..." peep echoed thinking of what to give. "Awnseri, beside what was in your sack do you have anything else to offer?" He asked in a hushed voice, wondering if a group item would be acceptable or if he'd have to give enough to cover them both.
Answeri quickly patted herself down but shook her head with a tiny shrug. "I don't have anything besides that," she whispered back in Draconic.
"C'mon now, one more," Quinth hissed at them.
Peep reached into his pockets feeling around finding a few coins, a bit of string, a small needel and thread and his lucky marble.
"Mmmnn." He frowned as he reached into his sleeve.
He'd need his offensive wands....and his healing and protective ones be important too...
His hand hit somthing soft and he blushed lightly.
"..ah...here." He pulled a small and rather worn looking toy from the sleeve, a little bird whoes once black fabirc had faded to a dull grey. "I've had this ever since I cut my first tooth." He held it out in offering.
The king waved his hand again and sipped at his wine as the candle scurried forward to accept the gift and take it away. "Please, my guests. Eat, drink, and be merry!"
"Thank you, Your Majesty," Quinth curtsied, and began to move away waiting for Answeri and Peep. Answeri hastily curtsied.
Peep bowed "May the wind be fair." and he quickly moved after them, hands in his trouser pockets. "..."
"Are you hungry? Grab something to eat," Quinth told them. "It's kind of the big attraction here."
Answeri grinned and grabbed Peep's arms, dragging the two of them to the tables.
Peep watched her pile food up onto a plate, his appittie was a little diminished but a hot plate of meat still looked good.
Giving in yo hunger over his sulking he fixed himself a plate, nibbling on his cuts as he went.
Quinth watched them go and told the two, "I'll meet you in your rooms!" before turning and heading back down the hallway.
Answeri raised an eyebrow, a piece of ham sticking out the side of her mouth as she tried to eat it whole. She chewed and swallowed quickly. "And I thought she was in a hurry to talk with us. Oh well."
Peep watched her go, chewing a peice of fat.
"....hm..." takign Awnsersi hand into his own he pulled her over to to a corner and sat down. "...somthing big is going on....and were smack dab in the eye of the storm I think." He picked a peice off awnseris plate and ate it whiel he thought.
"From now on we need to be carfule who we talk to...Knowlage is the only strength we have here, and that may be what spares our lives here.."
"Something big? But it wasn't even snowing lightly outside..." Answeri looked confused. "Hey, that's my food!"
"Theres plently, don't be greedy, I had to give up sho for you!"
"...sho?"
"....that little bird."
The dragoness blinked. "That was... something important to you? Since you had it so long?"
"....it was my treasure."
"Why? It wasn't shiny or big or anything," Answeri ate an odd-colored fruit.
"My papa gave it to me when I was just a hatchling." he deffened. "I always had it with me! Sho would play with me even when no one else would!!"
Her eyes widened a little as she realized what he meant. "...S...sorry... If... you liked it so much.. why did you give it away?"
"A gift should be of equal or greater value. And I owed him for both of us...." He picked a small medlion of meat. "Anda friendship is the greatest gift one can possess."
"..." Answeri broke into a wide smile and scooted next to him, hugging him around the shoulders and rubbing her cheek to the top of his head. "Thank you, Peep..."
His cheeks went pink and it wasn't from the wine. "Lets eat our fill and find our room."
"Zzzz..." A light snore came from Answeri and her hug loosened, her arms still dangling around Peep.
"..........your kidding.."
Suddenly Peep felt his eyelids grow immensely heavier. No one seemed to be noticing the two in the corner. The room darkened. Sleep sounded so nice...
~ZZZ~
When Peep awoke, he was lying in a huge, warm, comfortable bed with feathers fluffing up both the mattress and the pillow, at just the right amount for it to be perfectly fluffy. A thick white blanket lay over him. The room he was in was neatly small, something one might find at an inn, with polished wooden walls and a wooden floor with a fuzzy red carpet next to the bed so Peep's bare feet wouldn't be cold. He'd been redressed in a plain white nightgown. His belongings were nearby, folded and attended to so they were back to perfect condition.
He rubbed his eye tired with the back of his small fist. "Nmm...Awnser?" he called in a groggy ton. This was obviously NOT his room so eveythign couldn't of beena dream sadly.
But the room was devoid of awnseri so he slipped out of the bed, pulling the nightgown up and over his head.
He looked at his small hands.
"...well this won'y do now.."
Forming a clear image in his mind his body started to change.
The magic shifted around him as his intense concentration became focused and his will channeled the power of the gods into his form. Peep was so focused he didn't hear the loud shouting outside until it was too late, and Answeri had already knocked down the door. "PEEP-!" Answeri halted, eyes wide as saucers, frozen stiff in the doorway. "..........."
Peep slowly opened his deep green eyes, the pupil missing from near glowing green orbs.
"Awnersi?" He asked calmly as he turned to face her in his newly form 21 year old appearign body. He smiled then felt the draft that came in with the door.
"GEEZE!" he Immediely covered his private area with the gown that was still in hand. "Close the door woman!!"
"S-s-sorry!" she squeaked, and flung herself outside with the doorhandle still in her clutch, making the door slam closed. She quickly tried to get her breathing back to normal, make her face stop being so damn hot, and her heart from acting ike a hummingbird's wings.
Peep quickly pulled his clothes on, which were now rather form fitting, but at least the sleeve were still loose!
He yanked the door open, blushing.
"You shouldn't jsut barge into somones room if they don't say come in!!"
Answeri flustered. "Well I thought you were still sleeping! How was I supposed to know you were-" she stopped and turned around, burying her face in her hands.
"Changing? And bursting in on someone sleeping is just as bad." He sigend rubbing his temples. "Well come in, i need to do somthing with my hair. And let out the hem in my pants."
"There's a hen in your pants?" Answeri looked at them dubiously.
"Hem." He sat on the bed, lifting up his leg. The bottem of the pants where rolled up into large cuffs and peep unded the two small tack threads holding them up. He unrolled them till they were the right size for his leg and pulled out his needle and thread and started to fix them properly.
Answeri sighed quietly and moved to sit next to Peep, waiting for him to finish fixing his pants' size. "Were you the one yelling?" Quinth asked, suddenly appearing in the doorway, her eyes a little sleepy.
Answeri sunk a little, looing guilty. "Uhh... yeah."
"Y'know that's rude, you're gonna get cursed for that."
"C-cursed!?" Her shadowy eyes widened fearfully. Everyone watching scryovision had heard tales of fairy curses! "I DON'T WANT DONKEY EARS!" she wailed.
"Donkey ears? Ugh, that's so cliche," Quinth rolled her eyes and came into the room, closing the dor with some difficulty.
"...when my dad was here he was cursed with hiccups...." peep looked thougth full was he remembered the story as he stood, testing his handy work. "He kicked a door."
"Well I don't have hiccups..." Answeri pointed out hesitantly.
"You'll figure out what it is soon enough, I'm sure," Quinth reassured. Answeri sunk a little lower.
"Why were you yelling?"
Answeri mumbled, "well duh, I was looking for you..."
"Doesn't matter," Quinth dismissed. "Now how in Origin did you two get into Faerie?"
"Destiny." Peep awnsered easily.
"Don't gimme that," Quinth ordered, crossing her arms and alighting on Peep's knee. "The Fading Lands have shut, and destiny magic usually keeps them open for mortals to wander in."
"What're the Fading Lands?" Answeri asked.
Quinth grumbled. "The in-between places of this realm and the Material Plane."
Peep smiled. "Ah, thats all you get for free."
"...You jest."
Answeri grinned.
"I jest not little sprite." he grinned back.
"Not only did I guide you for free, you also took my free gift!" she protested, stomping on Peep's knee.
"Ah, luck stole your gift fair maiden, and your gaidance was far from free, I gave you the gift of the acorn, a secondary free gift really."
"Pfffft," Quinth fumed. She flew up into the air and did a few angry paces. "I take it back, you're nothing like your father! He knew how to play nice."
"Playing nice gets us nowhere," Answeri chimed. Quinth shot her a glare.
"What i can tell you is...very important Quinth....and i'm afride its all we have right now. To give it freely is dangerous to us. And i've already had to share it with one i would rather not have."
"Oh?" Quinth looked troubled. "Who?"
"..Queen Maeve."
"Her Majesty knows!? Damn it!" Quinth buzzed up and down, throwing an aerial temper tantrum. "She always gets new information first, ever since the Hollow Prince made the Pits the biggest area for change!" She returned to pacing in the air. "I should figure she's off plotting along as ever. Hmph! A Queen, who still wants power!" Her grass-green eyes flicked back over to the dragons and she sighed unhappily. "A gift for a gift. Damn it."
"Well?" Answeri prodded.
Quinth thought hard for a minute. "I don't have much on me... what would be preferable?"
"Treasure~" Answeri hummed immediately.
Peep shook his head. "Your help to find my little brother, hes wanderign around Fey with our cousen...Promise me your help in all forms that you can give it...and i'll tell you everything."
"Ah... that's a mighty big fish," Quinth frowned.
Answeri glanced around them. "Fish? Where?"
"So is what I'm going to tell you. Its a loop hole is the fadeing lands.."
"Nnn..." Quinth clasped her hands behind her back and wiggled from side to side as if a wind was blowing her back and forth. She moaned. "All right..."
He nodded.
"I know of two ways to enter fey right now.....the way my brother entered was with a magic box that was hiden in the shadow relam...its used destiny magic, summoning magic and planar magic....I belive that box is some where in fey right now..." he sighed, looking up at the ceiling.
"THe other way is that I and awnseri entered Via the shadow relam...she have to explain it better then myself."
Answeri took the stage. "The Kagori shadow dragons have always had an extremely good instinctual sense for finding the super-portals within the Shadow Plane which lead to all other planes. Faerie isn't usually connected to the Shadow Plane, but for these portals which draw upon the Shadoweave's power."
"Shadoweave?" repeated Quinth.
"It's the network of overlying shadow upon all that exists and does not exist. In the same way that all spells and magic items draw upon a network of the different classes of magic, all things in existence and not in existence draw upon the Shadoweave. The shadoweave is eternal, since all things in existence eventually return to shadow, and all things not in existence are a shadow of existence nonetheless." Answeri sounded like she was reciting from a book. "Anyway, those portals aren't always present; very rare indeed that we caught one despite my initial miss. I bet that shadow caster summoned it or something, lucky us."
Quinth looked troubled. "Shadows don't touch us... we exist without existing. That's one of the aspects of Faerie."
Answeri shrugged. "That's what the book described the Shadoweave as. I know it works somehow, 'cause otherwise Peep and I wouldn't be here."
Peep nodded. "Did't you say Tenknives visted the shadow plane?"
"Ah, yeah, that was because he was in the Material Plane when Faerie closed up. I guess he probably knew about the Kagori legend, and that's why he came to visit... He got sucked into scryovision too, though..." Answeri trailed off sulkily.
"Curiouser and curiouser," Quinth added. "That Maeve knows this is horrid. We should find my lord and seek his advice. Oh, iron, we'll have to cross through Autumn to get there."
"Through... Autumn?" Answeri repeated.
"The lands of bright and dark Autumn....I've never been to either, my father is unfamiler with their rullers so he tends to tread lightly there..." Peep held his chin a moment. "...Uncel Aolhand may know how to contact my father if at all possible...and elly would go to him or gramma so..." He nodded. "Bright summer is our best bet."
"Mmm, yes, Her Majesty would no doubt take an immediate disliking to you," Quinth mumbled offhandedly. "In that case, I'll see what I can do about travel. You two, don't speak of how you got here or any of it to anyone! The Home may be comforting, but that doesn't mean the inhabitants aren't tricky. Do you need anything in particular to defend yourselves with should the need arise?"
"Oh, I'd love some leather armor!" Answeri gushed. "And some boots! These heels are not for fighting."
Peep shook his head. "aside from the need a pair of proper shoes myself i can look after myself just as i am equiped." He pulled a wand of cold irons from hsi sleeve.
"Put that thing away!" Quinth yelped, fluttering toward the door. "Yeesh, no need to be threatening to me."
"It wasn't pointed at you." He slipped it away. He smiled softly. "Unlike my father I feel no burn from Iron or pain from Bells...." He laughed. "I always had to remove the iron back home sinc emy family was usless against it....poor papa.."
Quinth huffed. "It's so... unnatural. Blech." She shook her head. "Well, don't forget the rules, and wander as you please. I suppose I'll try to find leather armor and boots." Quinth tugged the door open a couple inches and slipped out.
Peep flopped back on the bed stairing at the ceiling. "............"
Answeri leaned over him, peering at his expression. "So..."
"So?" he awnsered in a monotone voice, staring back up at her.
Answeri didn't reply, just staring back and forth.
".............' It got rather akwards really. "......what?"
"What what?" Answeri smiled.
"....your staring at me. Its rude."
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to be rude," Answeri blinked. "I guess I just did it 'cause it felt in the mood..." She leaned back a bit to give a weird expression. "Wait, that was strange. My words rearrange! AHH!"
"......the curse of rhyming..that happened to someone in my fathers party.." he paused then. "What do you mean in the mood?"
"I-I didn't mean anything! It's just the rhyming's swing!" She groaned unhappily. "I hate this curse... I speak in verse... Waaahhh..."
"Say orange."
"Orange?" Answeri waited for something to follow it, then a hopeful smile grew. "I-I'm not rhyming! YAY! Peep you cured it!" She glomped him, bouncing on the bed.
"Some words you just can't rhyme in common toungue." he alughed, patting her hand. Since he was taller then her now he sat her back up. "I'm not sure if its permenent."
Answeri smiled, still attached to Peep. "So, what do we do now?"
"Well.....we could wait here or walk about..." He closed his eyes. "Were safe here alone but...there isn't really anything to do."
Answeri stayed quiet for a long time. "Whatever you wanna do's fine with me."
"......wanna play a game?"
"Sure. What game?"
"Hm..whatgames do you know..?"
"Uhh... I didn't really have games at home except... fight stuff... kill stuff... eat stuff... steal stuff... those aren't games are they..."
"No....no there not." He sighed. "....lets start with...find the coin." he pulled a coin out from his pocket. "Close your eyes."
Answeri let go of Peep and moved back a little before closing her eyes obediently.
"Ok open them." Peeps hands were restign on his knees. "You can ask yes or no questions, find the coin."
"Is it... on the bed?"
"no." he shook his head.
"Is it on the floor?"
"no."
"Is it on you?"
"No."
Answeri became puzzled and glanced about the bare room. "Is it... in the bed??"
"No."
She looked at a loss and continued to look around the room. Finally she ended up asking confusedly, "is it on me?"
Peep gave a wry smile. "Yes."
"What! I didn't feel anything," Answeri patted her head and shoulders in surprise.
Peep remaind scilent.
"Um... is it... on my top half?"
"Yes."
She ran her hands through her hair anxiously. "Is it in my hair?"
"No."
Answeri looked stumped. "Shoulders?"
"No."
"...back?? Did you put it down my dress!" She put her hands behind her and felt along her back.
"No."
"Then my..." Answeri glanced around at herself and came to a conclusion, pulling open the top part of her dress and peering down. "...front?"
"No, not the front."
"My armpits?" She checked 'em.
"No."
"My sides!"
"No."
"My ears?" She felt them.
Peep smiled and reached behind her left ear and pulled the coin out.
"Bingo."
"Aah!" She pointed in shock. "Weird!!"
Peep laughed hard at that.
"How the heck did you do that?" Answeri asked more calmly, still touching around her face.
"Magic."
"Ohh, that's why I closed my eyes," Answeri realized lowly.
He grinned agian and bit the top of the coin off, chewing
"AAAH!" Answeri yelled again, flopping off the bed. "...ow."
He made a sour face at the taste and spit, the top of the coin seemlesly reattaching to the rest of the coin.
"Okay, that's really freaky," Answeri noted, leaning against the bed so her nose just barely reached above the covers and watching Peep.
"My hobby is slight of hand." he said simpily. "I can't very well pray all day now can I?"
She chuckled in agreement. "That's what I told Ramen when we sparred."
"..Ramen?"
Answeri closed her eyes gently. "My teacher, he taught me how to fight since Mama was always busy."
"Oh...what was he like? Was he a dragon too?"
"No... he was a wandering monk. The Shadow Plane swallowed him up one day and he walked into Mama's den, which I was guarding. He agreed to teach me if I led him out of the Shadow Plane."
"Really a monk?" Peep looked interested. "So your a monk too then?"
"Mm-hmm," she nodded. "All hand-to-hand combat stuff. Obviously he couldn't teach me dragon moves, but I guess I hoped to come across another scryovision-free dragon someday to teach me that." Answeri's eyes opened again and looked up to Peep.
"What god do you worship?" He leaned into her.
Answeri stood up from the floor to sit next to Peep but scooted back so her back was against the wall behind them, and curled her knees to her chest, her dress almost short enough to show something. "I know it sounds silly, but I worship Wee-Jas."
Peep didn't seem to notice, or didn't think to notice."..that doesn't suprise me really." he said with a subtle laugh.
"Mama and all her friends thought I was such an oddball, since Wee-Jas isn't a typical god for us dragons. I dunno, though... I just always feel like he has a hand in my life somehow, and that the dragon gods are ignoring me." She pouted at a memory. "They certainly didn't answer when I prayed to them. Wee-Jas did, and his magic is my magic - well, only some of it, obviously... What about you? What god do you worship? A human one?"

Lahn sighed as the rider and snail bickered. So, to quell the mood he cleared his throat and began to sing:

I forbid you maidens all that wear gold in your hair
To travel to Carter Hall for young Tam Lin is there

None that go by Carter Hall but they leave him a pledge
Either their mantles of green or else their maidenhead"

Janet tied her kirtle green a bit above her knee
And she's gone to Carter Hall as fast as go can she

She'd not pulled a double rose, a rose but only two
When up there came young Tam Lin says "Lady, pull no more"

"And why come you to Carter Hall without command from me?"
"I'll come and go", young Janet said, "and ask no leave of thee"

Janet tied her kirtle green a bit above her knee
And she's gone to her father as fast as go can she

Well, up then spoke her father dear and he spoke meek and mild
"Oh, and alas, Janet," he said, "I think you go with child"

"Well, if that be so," Janet said, "myself shall bear the blame
There's not a knight in all your hall shall get the baby's name

For if my love were an earthly knight as he is an elfin grey
I'd not change my own true love for any knight you have"

Janet tied her kirtle green a bit above her knee
And she's gone to Carter Hall as fast as go can she

"Oh, tell to me, Tam Lin," she said, "why came you here to dwell?"
"The Queen of Faeries caught me when from my horse I fell

And at the end of seven years she pays a tithe to hell
I so fair and full of flesh and feared it be myself

But tonight is Hallowe'en and the faery folk ride
Those that would their true love win at Miles Cross they must buy

So first let past the horses black and then let past the brown
Quickly run to the white steed and pull the rider down

For I'll ride on the white steed, the nearest to the town
For I was an earthly knight, they give me that renown

Oh, they will turn me in your arms to a newt or a snake
But hold me tight and fear not, I am your baby's father

And they will turn me in your arms into a lion bold
But hold me tight and fear not and you will love your child

And they will turn me in your arms into a naked knight
But cloak me in your mantle and keep me out of sight"

In the middle of the night she heard the bridle ring
She heeded what he did say and young Tam Lin did win

Then up spoke the Faery Queen, an angry queen was she
Woe betide her ill-fought face, an ill death may she die

"Oh, had I known, Tam Lin," she said, "what this knight I did see
I have looked him in the eyes and turned him to a tree...

Gregorio and Druw eased their argument as Lahn's voice filled the hot air around them. When his song finished, a light and comfortably silence gave the travelers pause a moment. "You have a good voice," Sarya timidly broke the quiet.

"Indeed! That lore is much changed from tales of old to the current version methinks," Gregorio piped up. "Though it might interest you to know that story, which I don't claim to know the truth of, of course, speaks of the Faerie Queen Maeve, not Mab."

"Her name gets changed around a lot in mortal speech," Druw agreed. He made a strange burbling sound and Sarya looked a little green around the edges. "Nearly there."

The giant snail and its passengers were approaching a deep hole in the lava, as if a drain of some sort were present there. Sarya clung to Elly, though both Gregorio and Druw looked calm.

And don't whine about his weird name spelling, that's what Sesonya originally named him; yes, spelled like that.

Elly gave off sort of quiet hum as he watched the lava, eyes glazed over as he had tuned out the bards carful work. Like his father he'd gained a certain anyonce with those of lore and song, and he'd already he found himself at odds with the capped one that had taking to their company.
He felt Saryas grasp tightened and he blinked, looking anew at what laid before him.
He touched her hand lightly.
"Here in fey things are never as they looked, for if you saw its true face it would drive you mad." he spoke gently. "So...just try not to think about it cousin dear."

"O-okay," the little girl tried not to squeak, squeezing her eyes shut.

Gregorio raised a slender eyebrow, his feeler flicking out briefly. Before he could speak, Druw said in an offended tone, "Drive you mad? Entirely not. It would drive you to understand true perfection!"

"Mortals cannot know true perfection, they'd blow up," Gregorio answered his 'steed'. "Haven't you ever heard of what happens when the gods reveal their true forms to mortals? It always ends up killing the mortal."

"Waaahhh," Sarya sobbed, putting her hands over her already tightly-shut eyes.

Elly frowned. "Hey! Don't scare her any more then she is!" He scolded to them both, kicking Drews shell. He half turned to rub her head to comfort her. "There there Sary, don't worry, the gods are only in the house of play here."

Lahn chuckled to himself half heartedly, "One need not look to the face of the gods to go mad, spending time with children can be just as bad." Quickly he turned to Elly, "Now before you strike me young master know that doing so will move us no faster. Although it was sudden and against my design, your protection has apparently become mine.

And I am not one to go against my moral duty."
