I hate the cold.
Zanari is sitting astride Ulrich, the entire team of Riders had gotten a late start due to their gathering being shambolic. Also no thanks to her Dragon whom hunted down swift prey and took at least half an hour to find him again. The half faerie sighs through her helmet's visor. It was going to take a few more miles until they had reached the Northern Frontlines. Once there, would they all be fighting right away? Her coveted scythe is strapped across her back, the blade upright and wavering from the created air current, along her right shoulder. Zanari is left-handed, so when there is a battle she can reach her left arm back, grip her weapon's black and white handle, then slash the scythe before her. Perhaps even into a nearby enemy. Gripping the saddle with one hand tightly, she uses her other hand to pat Ulrich's shoulder blade as a sign of gratitude. He is the one flying, working his wings and being wary of attack from below and everywhere.

Ulrich is pleased to feel his friend give him a pat, although he truly doesn't mind being a transporter. After all. Dragons are meant to fly and this is his duty. Other than fighting, defending and taking commands of course. The enthusiastic Dragon utters a soft roar from his jaws, which is concealed over the top half by his metal dragonhelm. He decides to try to open some conversation with the ever solemn Zanari.
I caught that thought earlier. It might not be as bad as you think, just be thankful you are not a full faerie. With wings of your own, I'm sure they'd freeze! That'd make you more cranky than usual.

[Sorry it's scant, but I'm not entirely sure how else to re-open myself in here. XP]

((Alrighty, then. I'll just start up again from where I am in the ampitheater, if that's all right.))

Calidar looked at Ryan, her hands shaking with ill-concealed fear and uncertainty. She put her hand on Tanneth's forearm and sqeezed it to keep her hands from shaking any more.

"What should we do, Ryan?" she asked. "If Kyala and Tyrkennen were taken, how long will it be before the same happens to the rest of us here? We can't stay here for much longer, can we? It's too dangerous."

Tanneth snorted into the air angrily and whipped her tail back and forth, dangerously close to the two Riders.

Tanneth didn't answer. Or, if she did, the thought was too clouded by her anger to be deciphered. Calidar watched Ryan, worry growing in her.

Toreth listened to Calidar and thought for a moment.

'My love, we must go as quietly as we can.' Chandra said this with upmost concern and Toreth was not goiing to wait any longer.

"Fleet Foot, please return to your pack and I will be back as soon as I can. I don't no how long it will be though." He told Fleet Foot this as best he could and only hoped she understood.

'She understands my love,' Chandra relayed to him and with that Fleet Foot was off after the pack and Toreth bounded to his dragons saddle as soon as she landed.

"Back to the compound as fast as you can." Toreth was not sure what had happened but he was not going to slow the fixing of the problem down. "Better yet, back to our rooms, I want to see if there are any messages."

In no time they reached his courters and sure enough, there eas a message and he returned to Chandra's back and they were off to the ampitheater as quick as they had landed.

"Calidar, Ryan, we have a message I haven't even read it yet here." Toreth called to his two wingmates as he jumped off of Chandra's back and handed them the message. He bent over and held his knees as he tried to catch his breath.

((Fine, I'll post. Don't get in huff, now. And, another warning, you're not allowed to godmode, which is what you just did...two posts ago. Neither Bigfoot nor I had posted to say we looked at the message. I'll let it go this time. Just be glad Nell or Doom didn't catch you at it. You'd be banned faster than you could say "FlapJack." You only get one more warning after this, alright? Then things have to change. Now let's going, kay? =^_^=))

Calidar looked at the note. They were to proceed to their base camp. But what about Kyala and Tyrkennen? Were they jst supposed to ignore what had happened? Her fingers tightened on Tanneth's forearm. Tanneth looked at her rider, then back to Chandra.

"You are right, Chandra. I must not let my anger get the best of me. I cannot...for Calidar's sake."

Calidar turn to Toreth. "I'm glad we're all here together. We should get our things ready, don't you think? After all, we need to get going."

((By the way, Bigfoot sorta got banned. He said he might give me his posts to put up until he gets back in, but I haven't gotten any yet. I'll talk to him about it. Happy Easter!))

[I'll just keep my characters up in the air, a little ahead of everyone. Can't think of a re-post. ^ ^;]

It doesn't take long for Zanari to realize that nobody is behind her or leading.
"Drat! Ulrich, did we leave before checking with the others? I don't think we're being followed!"
His reply makes her growl from under her mithril helmet, hands pressing on her Dragon's shoulder blades to urge him downwards. The top layer of snow is nearly icy and so does not puff upwards from the current caused by the dark orange dragon's wings. She unbuckles the holding belt with her mithril gauntlets and slides off.
"Well...when they catch up, they will no doubtly spot your blinding coloring and hail to us, then we can proceed to the camp. But you mind me now, Ulrich Extravagant! Around others I want to hear nothing of your slander, jokes, songs nor do I wish to view or be the target of your scaly antics. Please."
Zanari sits down on a nearby boulder, brushing off some of its snow first. She wonders how long the others will be. A sudden breeze sends a chill into her helmet, it has a closed front that is in an arrowed shape to only reveal her eyes, nose and mouth. At the corner of her eyes the area is slanted to give her a nearly serpent-like appearance. Her light green hair is loose and kept back thanks to the helmet, fluttering pleasantly behind her neck. Her helmet has three spiked ridges along the back to mimic a dragon's horned crest. The half-faerie takes a moment to admire her set of mithril armor, so light and flexible on her limbs. On her torso rests a female's chestplate with an elaborate butterfly carved on the front, greaves fit snuggly and do not clang against her pointed boots. Thankfully her shoulders have been left bare for more scythe-swinging room. Allowing herself to relax she pulls her weapon on her lap and uses a nearby fist-sized stone to sharpen it. Might as well use the waiting time with some purpose.

He had known all along that none of their fellow Riders nor Dragons were about, it is just more fun NOT to tell Zanari.
"I haven't seen anyone this morning save for you, makes me rather lonely!"
Feeling the physical request to land does the gaudy dragon swoop down. Riders only give requests never commands, for their Dragon may have a plan set. Or like in most of Ulrich's cases, may not want to listen to the Rider's request. The chill makes his wings, claws and horns ache though so a quick rest would be nice. Although lofting in snow won't be any better surely it is nicer than this damned wind. He unfurls his wings and archers them, cupping wind within their rims and throwing it at the ground. Seeing no amusing snow-clouds rise he pouts somewhat as Zanari dismounts. His large head swivels upwards to listen to his Rider make a few more requests. Oh sure, he's nodding at her every word. It doesn't mean that he's agreeing to obey though, he's just taking them in to consideration. Both know this but neither will state it.
"However stripe-butt, since others are not around this space is free game.", he parts his jaws slightly to reveal his sharp teeth and lifts the corners of his mouth in a dragon's smile before bursting out into mental song, "Gally-gally-gally in the hay-hoo, gally-gally-gally in the hay-hoo!"
His song is rapid and quick, he himself cannot make out most of the words anymore but simply rumbles on in his loud voice.

((D*** it! I give up, I'm going to go play with Memory. So there.))

Ryan and Toreth seemed in shock, so Calidar deftly vaulted to Tanneth's back and strapped herself in tightly. The green dragon leaped into the air and circled over to their quarters. Quickly, Calidar packed two changes of clothes, some travel rations, and other necessities and packed them into her satchel. She lashed her rolled-up tent and bedroll together and fastened them to Tanneth's saddle. Then she slung the satchel over her shoulder and mounted Tanneth again.

"We are going to find the others. Join us when you are ready," Tanneth told Torokal and Chandra.

Then they angled out to the north.

After a while of hard flying, Tanneth and Calidar spotted a great orange hulk on the snow beneath them: Zanari and Ulrich. Actually, they heard Ulrich's terrible singing. Calidar covered her ears, belatedly realizing that her flying cap was already covering them and that Ulrich was singing the words in his mind. She groaned and Tanneth dipped her wings, coming down to land hard, throwing up more snow than Ulrich had. Calidar dismounted and walked over to Zanari.

"Greetings, Rider," she said. "Aren't there any others with you?"

[Aw...XD Well, I will be staying here since I feel like a Rider again. And Ulrich is so much fun. :}]

She grits her teeth as Ulrich begins his irksome mind-song. The Dragon seems to know a loophole through any rule she ever explained to him! When he was getting too big to sleep on her bed with her she had said he could not fit on it, so he slept under it and snored. Another rule was that he was not allowed to go into someone's room if they were in there, so the cunning fiend would wait in the hall of his desired target's room and snatch them into his shared room with the half-faerie to chatter their ears to near hearing loss. This renewed agitation causes her hand to add pressure on the stone, sparks spurt from the contact of steel and stone. A peculiar noise alerts her and she drops the stone to look up. Not far off is a dragon...it is a bright green dragon, Tanneth.
While it is good to see another Rider and Dragon, being approached by a female dragon, or any sort of female breed, may not be the best, knowing Ulrich...
Zanari has never had a problem with any of the Riders nor Dragons. She cares deeply for them all. Calidar has become a curious one though, in a pleasant manner of course. The half-faerie enjoys seeing the other young woman's hair a forest green, a shade lighter than her own. It makes her feel as though she were...well...in a faerie inhabited area. Although they are the only ones with green hair it has some vague comfort for Zanari. She stands as the other pair lands, feeling sympathy for innocent Tanneth as Ulrich romps over to the dragoness. Hearing the other Rider makes Zanari blush and look to the side in some shame.
"...I got too eager, I could've sworn there were others behind me, but in my excitement...there must not have been. Sorry."

His singing dwindles as he senses another Dragon nearby. Ulrich lets his song resonate in the mental planes and swivels his armor-clad head to view the landing pair.
"Finally, some company! Hello Lady Calidar and Lady Tanneth!"
He eagerly lunges at Tanneth whom is a bit bigger than he is. Crooning in a dragon greeting does the energetic male rear a bit and flap his wings.
"After years of training we get to join the battle ranks! Isn't it exciting? Why Tanneth, you look even more radiant than usual wearing that armor."
Whether this comment is offered in a friendly manner, or a flirtatious manner is difficult to decipher.

[Sorry Ulrich's is short, dinner time. ><]
PostPosted: Wed May 30, 2007 12:54 pm

((No problem. I, on the other hand, have no excuse for staying away so long. Nearly a month, I believe. I apologize. Sorry for the formal speech, it just comes out sometimes.))

Calidar laughed and sat down near Zanari. "That's alright," she said. "I left my teammates behind, too. Men...they really have no sense of priority. I don't know when they'll be joining us."

Calidar looked over at Tanneth and Ulrich. "Greetings, Ulrich," she said before turning back to Zanari. "Enthusiastic, isn't he?"

Tanneth turned to the other dragon and snorted at the snow playfully, throwing up a mist of snow. She twisted her head to looked back at her rider, then longingly at the sky.

"Hello, Ulrich," she said softly, taking a break from her usual, playful self to tease the male dragon. "If you will remember, I am no lady. And you are getting snow on my hide. I will have to bathe soon."

Tanneth turned her head again and crooned at Ulrich.

"You are much too happy for a dragon going to war," she said. "You, your rider, your teammates...any one of you could be hurt, possibly killed. Yet you carry on as though there is not a care in the world. Yet you have the audacity to note radiance. Odd, considering my armor is merely leather. Well, I suppose it cannot be helped."

Tanneth rose up on her hind legs and stretched her wings out as far as they would go. She glanced sideways at Ulrich, then at Zanari and Calidar.

"I'm excited, too."

[No worries! Everyone has a life, it can't be spent on Gaia.]

Zanari calms, Calidar is easy to get along with and has always been kind to her like all the other Riders. She smiles in a relaxed manner from the other green-haired girl's comments.
"I half expected the men to be leagues ahead by now...guess I was wrong.", she rolls her eyes when Calidar speaks of Ulrich, "You have no idea...I mean, you have known him for awhile, but the personal link is just so...draining."

Ulrich grins at Tanneth's teasing and lowers himself with his wings tucked in a form of respect.
"I'd say we're all excited. I can feel it coming even from the ever stoic Zanari, she most likely shares that from me though. And of course I bring up radiance! The leather armor blends soothingly with your soft green scales, a treat for the eyes to be sure."

Her golden eyes leer over to her Dragon. "Ulrich, I'm giving you one warning as of now...", she calms and looks to Calidar, "Shall we wait awhile longer and chatter, or do you think it would be alright to move on?"

The zealous dragon frowns and his neck sags. He opens his jaws and points his tongue at Zanari in a displeased manner before sitting up straight again.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 09, 2007 1:05 pm

((Speak for yourself...))

Calidar laughed. "Draining is the perfect word," she said. "I would say the same for Tanneth, but she's a bit more level-headed than I am."

She thought for a moment, watching Tanneth and Ulrich, before answering. "I'm not sure," she said. "If we wait, we run the risk of leaving our posts undermanned and therefore vulnerable. If we go, our teammates will be left behind. On the other hand, we have no idea how long they will take in their coming. So, the question is, do we leave our post undefended, or do we wait for teammates who may not show? What do you say?"

Tanneth let loose an odd, hiccuping growl that was her laughter. She snorted at a snowdrift, blowing snow into Ulrich's face.

"I should feel insulted," Tanneth said, now truly upset. "You bring up radiance in an attempt to flatter me, yet you insult me. How could think that my hide was covered in cold, rigid, slippery scales. I am no fish, to have scales to protect myself. If scales are a treat, jump in a lake.

Tanneth lowered her head. Her hide was one of her great vanities, mostly because every other dragon she knew had scales instead. She supposed that all males were alike though, both human and dragon.

Her golden eyes stare steadily at the snowy ground. Calidar does indeed have a strong point and she did not want to wait too long. Besides, it is the others' fault if they get left behind. The notice was given out quite awhile ago and they had been given prompt orders.
"I say we do our duty and soar to our stations now." Zanari looks up to gaze calmly and respectfully at the other young woman.
The half-faerie looks over at her now brooding dragon. This confuses her, it takes much to make Ulrich brood. There is no more time to waste on personal concerns though.
"Please don't argue Ulrich, we must all leave now."
She slides her scythe along her backside and secures it.

Ulrich is pleased by her laughter, he loves to make others merry. Her sudden mood change troubles him though and the male utters a soft series of sorrowful trills.
"Oh Tanneth, please forgive me...I am very forgetful and keep overlooking your superior hide. I am sorry Tanneth..."
He is sincerely guilty now, how could he be so forgetful!? Hearing his rider's call, the colorful dragon croons to his friend and lowers his snout in a form of submission. Ulrich may be annoying but he hates to hurt someone's feelings. He lowers a wing for his rider and keeps his gaze remorsefully from Tanneth.

Zanari arches one of her green brows but ignores Ulrich's sour stance. She grips onto one of the straps on the saddle and hoists herself up also with the help of her clambering feet. Then the green haired rider coaxes Ulrich to walk a distance away before getting a slow running start into the sky, ended with a slight hop. She makes sure his flying range is low to be sure to herself that Calidar and Tanneth do not get left behind.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 25, 2007 4:53 pm

((Oh, oh, I'm making two stories about the Riders. We're all in it! Maybe I'll send it to you sometime.))

Tanneth gave hiccuping growl, her dragon equivalent of a laugh, as she listened to Ulrich's apology.

"You are a shameless flatterer, Ulrich," she said. "Luckily, I can overlook that as well as your terrible singing. You are forgiven, I suppose. Lucky. When I'm in the air you'll be hard-pressed to keep up."

Calidar nodded grimly, returning Zanari's gaze. She looked over at the two dragons and quickly suppressed a groan. Tanneth was becoming more and more fickle. That always happened when she was on the ground for too long.

"Let's go, love," she called. "Duty calls."

"And I thought that was you..." Tanneth murmured. "I'm coming."

As Zanari and Ulrich pushed into the sky, though, Tanneth made no move. Calidar waded through the snow until it was knee deep. Finally, Tanneth swung her neck nearer for Calidar to crawl onto. The girl scrambled down Tanneth's neck and slid gratefully into the saddle sitting between the dragon's shoulderblades. She strapped herself in tightly and pushed her own green hair under her helmet so it wouldn't get in the way. Tanneth pushed off from the ground leaving great trenches in the snow from her claws. She flapped her wings steadily, drawing up to the other pair and hovering above them.

"You won't lose us.

Calidar grinned. Finally, they were on their way. And she was finally traveling with someone who wasn't a complete twit, like Toreth, or as serious as Ryan. A shdow on the ground drew her eyes. It ran alongside the two dragons' shadows. Calidar squinted and smiled when she made out the shapes of Green Wind and his wolf pack. Only Fleet Foot was missing; she'd probably stay with Toreth. Calidar laughed. They wouldn't be lonely on this journey for a single moment.

[Awesome! >w< Hm...I'm tempted to re-make this RP, but with a different plot and format. Just to get some new faces in, what do you think?]

Zanari listens to Tanneth and feels calm. She would really hate to lose track of the only brave fellow rider. The half-faerie does notice the wolves below and frowns, however. Calidar doesn't seem to be disturbed by them so she looks away from the pack and presses Ulrich on.

The orange-based dragon his slightly bamboozled from the dragoness' reply. Had she truly forgiven him for now, or was she simply giddy all of a sudden? Ulrich decides it is best not to trouble himself over it and keeps flying. The wind chills his ears slightly as it whistles past his scales and rider.

Finally, at the camp Zanari has Ulrich land. She keeps a wary eye on the wolves and approaches Calidar as soon as Tanneth lands.
"Let's go check in to report that some Riders are at least here for aid."

[Sorry if I rushed that...I want to battle. XD]
