Kimiko nodded, standing up. "Best we find a big pack of matches or a lighter too, in case the power stays out for a long time." Walking over to Neko, she nodded to Mayu, showing that she was excused too.

"Alright," Mayu grinned. She had never been to anyone else's house before, and she was curious to see how other people lived.

Grabbing an apple and an orange as he stood, the halfling waved his fingers at his brother before smiling to Mayu, stepping away from the table and leading her up the stairs.

"The library is across from my room," he explained in the hallway, looking over his shoulder at her for a moment. He'd never had a guest over himself before, no one ever having gone into his room save for those who lived there.

"Um, let's see... That's Neko and Domonic's room... over here is the bathroom... Layla and Johanna's room... The guest room... Then we haaaaave..." Demare stopped at the end of the hall, opening the doors on the left and right at the same time. "My room, and the library."

"I see," Mayu nodded. She took a peek into Demare's room, then into the library.

She had heard of these so-called libraries, but had never seen one up close. The Legend had been to a public library before, but had never heard of one being fitted to put into a little house.

"There're so many books!" she marveled, stepping into the room slowly.

"Mm," the halfling agreed, flipping on a light switch to turn on the small lamp in the room. "These are all of Neko and Domonic's tomes... They're all about magic and the like. In the attic, there's more books on histories, myths, and legends from all around the world. There's some fairytale books around here somewhere, as well, but... I haven't been able to find them."

The room was fairly small, and the light was dim, so as to not damage the ancient books. The walls where covered with books of all sizes, a lone cushioned chair resting in the corner by the light so one could read. More books were piled on the wooden floor, a couple left open on the desk in the room; it was obvious someone spent quite a bit of time studying in here.

"Ooh..." Mayu was already looking up and down the shelves curiously, reading the titles of all of the different books -- well, at least, the ones she could read.

"All I have is a bookshelf that's half-filled. I think Miyu has a few books, too, and Kimiko keeps a stash in her closet or something." She was a bit reluctant to admit how... uncultured her family was, and would have to bug her guardian to take her to the bookstore sometime soon.

Demare stepped over to the desk, glancing down at the pages the books were open to. After a moment, he closed them, picking up one book and placing it on top of the other.

"What kind of books do you read?" he asked curiously, wondering if it was anything like the things Neko may have had lying around, hidden within the other books.

"Hm.." she muttered, not quite sure how to respond to Demare's question. What kind of books did she read? She had just grabbed random books with nice covers off the shelves at the bookstore when she got to pay a visit, not bothering to read the back or the jacket flaps.

"I guess I read fiction, adventure and fantasy books," she decided, after thinking about it for a while. "But I read mostly everything." She shrugged, and looked over to Demare. "What about you?" she asked.

"I've only been able to read one book completely so far," he admitted, looking around the room to see if he could find it. "It was a book filled with old "folk tales", as Neko called them. She got it when she was in another world."

Peering up at one of the top shelves, he found the familiar book he was looking for, but wondered why it wasn't actually resting on the shelf. Instead, it was resting on the top of the bookshelf itself, right inbetween the ceiling and the shelf. Demare began to look around for something to stand on so he could try to reach the book.

"Domonic once called them fairytales," he rambled on, moving a couple of the stacks of books together so he could stand on them. Carefully, he placed one foot on one stack, and pulled himself up onto the other. He wobbled around a little bit, but managed to keep his balance somehow. "So I guess... its a little bit of the same. Fantasy, fiction... adventure... a little romance here and there."

His fingers just brushed against the top of the bookshelf, but he was still too short to reach it. He tried to stand up on his toes, the books slipping a little bit from underneath him.

Mayu nodded, peering up at where the book sat.

"Are you sure it's safe to use those books as a stepstool?" she asked, noticing that they were wobbling precariously. She hovered closer, so that she would be able to catch the boy if he fell off the stacks.

Demare continued to reach up toward the book, grasping onto the edge of the shelf with one hand to pull himself up a little bit, his feet just barely touching the books below him.

"Probably not..." he realized, just as he managed to push the book he wanted closer to the edge, and grabbing it to throw over to the chair. "Aha! Got it."

Just as he'd grabbed the book and lowered himself back onto the stack of books, thunder clapped so loudly outside that the house itself shook a little bit, causing the lights to flicker and blink out for a moment while the books he was on toppled over.

"ACK!!" The child didn't have time to grab onto anything as he toppled over as well, right into the tree girl behind him.

Mayu clapped, though it was muffled by the loud clap of thunder. She was lost amid the confusion as the house shook and the lights fizzled, and wasn't prepared for what awaited her next.

She squeaked as Demare fell into her, toppling back and falling onto the ground with aplomb.

The lights flickered back on after a moment, the soft humm emitting from the lightbulb filling the room. At first, everything was merely quiet, not even the books shifting as order seemed to return to the house.

However, in Demare's mind, everything was screaming. When he fell, he managed to turn before landing on top of Mayu, pinning the poor girl underneath him. He hadn't noticed until he'd propped himself up onto his elbows, his bi-colored eyes meeting her face as he complete froze and blushed.

"I... I-I'm s-s-s-s-sorry..." he stammered softly, still trying to get enough of his barrings to move. He didn't even hear the footsteps making their way to the room out in the hallway.

"Okay, so we've got armloads of candles and no ways of lighting them." Kimiko shook her head, stepping throught the hallway frantically. The lights were going out more frequently, and she hated being stuck in a blackout without any source of light. She was about to turn the corner when she heard the voices of Mayu and Demare, and walked over to check up on them.

She froze in her tracks.

Mayu was dizzy from the fall, vision being split into twos. And there were all of these pretty fireworks going off everywhere! She mubled something incoherently and blinked her eyelids lazily a few times, trying to get her vision to clear.

When the two images finally melded into one, and the pretty fireworks stopped going off, the silver-haired Legens shook her head. "Buh?" she muttered, head still a bit jumbled.

"Hey, I can just use my magic to light the candles, you know," Neko told her, not even looking in the other room as she stepped into Demare's room, placing a very large and thick candle on the desk. She snapped her fingers close to the wick and watched it catch flame, moving to place another smaller candle on the endstand. After lighting that one, she went back out into the hallway to see why Kimiko was so quiet.

"Hey, did something happe--" she began to ask, but stopped before she could finish. Ah... something DID happen.

Demare turned an even brighter red as he noticed two shadows along the floor, realizing someone must have seen them and probably had gotten the wrong idea. Turning his two wide eyes toward the door, he saw the frozen Kimiko and demon behind her, his mind pretty much just broken at that point. Quickly, he moved himself from Mayu to the corner of the room, crouching down into a little ball.

"I'MSORRYIT'SNOTWHATYOUTHINKIFELLANDMAYUTRIEDTOCATCHMEI'MSORRY!!!" he managed to get out, really hoping he wouldn't have to face anyone's wrath.

Neko had begun to laugh. This was PRICELESS.

Kimiko made a few half-lucid slurs as she tried to comprehend the situation, dropping the armload of candles she had been carrying.

Mayu managed to sit up after a few tries, looking around in confusion. Neko was laughing, Kimiko was just.. standing there and gawking, and Demare was huddled up in a little corner. Was there something she had missed?

"What's so funny?" she asked, truly confused.
