I just watched 2 movies today. I didn't particularly care for one as a whole, but as history goes it's interesting...Basquiat. About modern painter Jean-Michael Basquiat's short life. It was interesting. I mean, he was friends with Andy Warhol just before his death. But I don't find his art as stunning as they say in the movie. Frankly i find it ... well let's just say i really don't like his work...but David Bowie plays Andy Warhol and does a faboo job. It took me weeks to watch it, and i'm glad i did, but don't expect a whole lot. I mean he died of a drug overdose and they don't candy coat his existence in that respect.
The other movie was Osama. It was about a little girl whose mom dresses her up as a boy so she can get a job and support them in Taliban occupied someplace (i think it's Iraq) I loved the movie. As a woman it was shocking to see and heartbreaking. We take so much for granted in our lives. Just being able to walk to the store by ourselves for instance. But I wasn't crazy about where the film went. While it prolly held more true than what I was hoping...I mean i forget not every movie has a hollywood pat ending...As a woman I recommend this movie at some point in your life. It's short too, about 80 minutes.
That's it. The other movies I've seen lately are bad B horror zombie movies. Kevin's weakness. OH! And Angel Eyes with Jennifer Lopez. i don't recommend that movie. I apologize to anyone who saw this and loved it, but man oh man even Gigli has got to be better.
Okay...of too spend some time with Kevin before he goes to sleep and I'm up all night catching up on my soaps lol

last night i couldn't sleep So I watched "Erin Brockovich." I had never seen it before, mostly cuz I'm not a huge Julia Roberts fan, altho I seem to like most movies she's in (it drives me crazy) This one was good. I admire Erin Brockovich after watching it. But i don't believe Julia Roberts should have won an Oscar for it. Basically she was a tartier version of her Pretty Woman character IMHO. Kevin said he thinks they even made her sluttier looking than the real Erin B....but i digress....
But some people really like this movie. And as a story goes (without criticizing Julia R. lol) it was interesting and poignant and I really liked it. Little man beats corporate giant. I recommend this if you haven't seen it already. Basically E.B. is someone who wroks her way into working as a sort of paralegal for an atty and in the process of researching a pro bono case for him she discovers a secret that is making people sick and she convinces said atty to fight for the little people.

It's not on video, but we just went Monday to see "SAW 2" OMG! If you saw the first one you will not be disappointed. If you haven't seen the first one...go rent it (if you like horror/thriller...but be warned it has blood & stuff) At first I was a little disappointed cuz it lulled me into a false sense of security by letting me think i was smarter than the movie but then WHAM! the twist near the end had my jaw drop (again...the first one I finished out the movie with my mouth wide open in shock...i looked like an idiot lol) The premise of the movie is a serial "killer" who sets tests for victims. They always have a chance to pass...they just have to be motivated enough to figure out the riddle and the solution.
and we just rented "The Longest Yard" with Adam Sandler & Chris Rock. Now, most of us being women here, and this being a (remade) football based plot movie, you may not like it, but I loved it! I don't even think you really need to know football to like the majority of the movie. Plus Adam Sandler and Chris Rock together...HILARIOUS! The movie is about a former football star QB who ends up going to prison and gets recruited to help the prison guard football team (in TX...where they are obsessed with football) and ends up organizing a football team of the inmates as a kind of practice squad against the guards team. iT'S A remake of the Burt Reynold's movie "the longest yard" from the 70s and is pretty faithful to the original (according to kevin) with a few updated segments and jokes. I loved it! And it was a great way to end the night after being freaked out by Saw 2

I saw K-19 before and I loved it just as much the 2nd time. It's a submarine movie (which I've recently discovered are a weakness of mine) about a nuclear sub in 1961 on maneuvers that has an accident. It stars Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson (*drool*) It's heartbreaking in some aspects as well...so prepare to cry if you see it. The Perfect Storm...not so impressed with. It pretty much reminded me of "The Old Man & the Sea" by Hemmingway .... and I hate Hemmingway (sorry Hemmingway fans) ... I'm not a big George Clooney fan either, but after "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" I thought I'd give him a try. _Pretty much it's a story about some fisherman from MA who go out for one more big haul and end up getting caught in a freak storm inbetween a cat 5 hurricane and a cold front from Canada... a "perfect storm" if you will. Someone else may like it...me not so much. And now I'm off to watch "The Last Samurai" with that crazy Tom Cruise. I'm trying to clear off our DVR so i can tape more stuff lol xd

I probably know the answer to this already, but has anyone else seen the movie "Goodnight and Goodluck?" My daughter and I saw it and I must admit, I enjoyed it. But I have nobody to talk about it with. We went because it was for extra credit in her English class. They were working on the "Crucible" and the teacher wanted the kids to see the similarities.

morphingbutterfly ok..has anyone seen the HP4 movie yet...if so is it as good as the previews and the behind the scenes things make it seem? ish so wishing i could go and see it stare we went and saw it @ the midnight showing friday morning. It was fantastic. My bro-in-law says it's the best so far. I don't necessarily agree with that simply because there's alot left out from the book that i was hoping to see...at least i think there was...like some quidditch stuff in the beginning...the whole death eaters attack in the beginning...and Hagrid and his "love interest" details to mention a couple...i'm getting the book this weekend to re-read (got a Borders Books gift cert for my bday i haven't used yet YAY) Kevin loved it tho...and he's never read any of the books. Personally the book could have been made into 2 movies there's so much stuff going on in it. AND the characters are definitely looking a bit older than they should. Like in this movie they're 14 and Fred and George are 16 but F&G looks closer to 20 and HP, Hermione and RW look closer to 16 or 17 themselves .... but if you can overlook that it's okay. Mad Eye was great! They didn't really explain his eye, but Kevin got it anyway. okay i've said too much...all in all i loved it and am triply excited for more movies!!!

MysticfawN magikjaz And now I'm off to watch "The Last Samurai" with that crazy Tom Cruise. I'm trying to clear off our DVR so i can tape more stuff lol xd That's one howe made a thread for today, and I realized I haven't seen. this was such a good movie! I loved it! Ken Watanabe starred in it as well as Tom Cruise (KW is playing "The Chairman" in "Memoirs of a Geisha" *drool*) Basically TC is a washed up army something-or-other who searved with Custer and gets recruited to go to Japan to help teach them modern fighting in order to defeat the samurai-lead rebellion. I love anything Asian (i know i was Indian in a former life...prolly something else asian too) so this movie spoke to me. TC's character does a nice progression. Lots of action but also room for thought in the commentary it was trying to make. I recommend this flick. Also watched Bulletproof Monk the other day. With Chow Yun-Fat and Sean William Scott. Basically CYF is a monk entrusted with the care and guardianship of a special sacred scroll that gives to whomever reads the scroll aloud power to rule the world. Fast forward 60 years and he's runs into SWS who he believes could be his successor in guarding the scroll. Lots of martial arts...lots of funny stuff....i didn't think i would like this movie either but i loved it. Kinda reminded me of Indiana Jones (cuz CYF had Nazis after the scroll) and The Golden Child (you know, w/ Eddie Murphy..."i..I...I want the knife.." I love that movie!!!)

Wow, you know how people get a fear have no explanation for! Submarines are mine, that and water where I cannot feel the bottom with my feet. I never ever ever learned to swim probably because of that, but the thought of being closed in at the BOTTOM of deep water, no thanks, I will pass everytime. On the upside, I always made sure my kids know how to swim, which is probably why I am the only one here who does not care that our built in swimming pool has been out of service since early summer 2004 rofl I did finally get to see "The Skeleton Key" and was okay. They claimed it was the most surprising ending since "The Sixth Sense" but I would not go that far, although The Skeleton Key was good, I just like M. Night Shyamalan alot and think he is pretty hard to beat. I know my list of movies I want to see is longer than the Skeleton Key, but I am having trouble thinking of them at the moment... well, as always, I want to see anything with Adam Sandler, but I am a hard core comedy addict after all rofl

WickedPotato Wow, you know how people get a fear have no explanation for! Submarines are mine, that and water where I cannot feel the bottom with my feet. Kevin hates subs too. Of course it's cuz he has a fear of sharks. And my mom is afraid of the water as well cuz she can't swim...i can swim like a fish tho...as a matter of fact my mom called me a mermaid when i was younger...so I can't wait til our pool is up and running. wickedpotato I did finally get to see "The Skeleton Key" and was okay. They claimed it was the most surprising ending since "The Sixth Sense" but I would not go that far, although The Skeleton Key was good, I just like M. Night Shyamalan alot and think he is pretty hard to beat. yea i liked that movie too, but the ending wasn't anywhere near m. night shayamalan. I love him as well. Even the Village, which my bro in law hated, i thought was such a classic twilight zone ending I loved it! We just went to the midnight showing of King Kong. OMG it was amazing! The beginning starts off really slow and it feels every bit of the hour or so it takes them to get to Skull Island, but once they get there it moves so fast i couldn't believe it was a 3 hour movie. And Jack Black is amazing. I love him. And Naomi Watts acting without a co-star in most of the movie (green screen) was phenomenal! LOVED IT! We also just rented "Crash" which was a pretty heavy movie. Quite disturbing in some parts ...i don't know if it was just cuz of things I've experienced or what, but i recommend this movie highly. I can't really say what it's about cuz there's not really a solid plot line...it's people whose lives intertwine in a day in L.A. And rented the Dukes of Hazzard. Fun. I still have a problem with Jessica Simpson as Daisy and Johnny KNoxville as a Duke boy (i mean they were cute in the original...and young...Johnny isn't either really imho) but it was true to the series and I love the General Lee. Pure fun.
