I look to Dimitri, and smile "While I can not speak for her, I can say that I have very good tracking skills. Perhaps because my eyes are so much closer to the ground"I give a playful chuckle"but from what I understand, they are aware of where this cleric lives, so we may not even need to track. Which is for the best, since tracking would slow us down, and after the large battle that just occured, finding the right tracks would be very hard for even the best ranger"

Laughing aloud like a regular adventurer rather than well displined wizard. Dimitri wipes a small blood-colored tear, reflected from his eyes. "Though I can agree with the advantages of being...shall we say "vertically challenged", I must applogize before hand to Navon that I will, at the moment, take up the role of a stereotypical wizard. Wizards are VERY calculating, serious, and studious. We are always carefully analyzing and examining. Leaving nothing to chance. Anyways," breaking into a slight smile again, "what do gnome, dwarves, and elves care? Racing against time are really ment for beings who can't even celebrate a triple-digit birthday. Humans *ice* are rather weak and limited. Seeing how important this book is, why not go in carefully, with information and safety?" After saying those words, Dimitri seems to have went into a trance of sorts and stands there with those ruby-red eyes fixed at Nizam.

twisted You know, your a real, idiot. Sayin' stupid things like that. If Brendon finds out... I'm be more surprise that they haven't figured you out yet. twisted *Sigh* Yeah, I know. As hated as my kind is, we are not that common. they won't know.!

"I'm sorry, I was lost in thought there for a second. *nervous laughter*"

Navon followed Dimitri and the others to their meeting with Deerhunter and his friend Kyte. He seems quiet, but he has a smile for those around him despite the grim situation, and his watchful gray eyes make it clear that he is paying attention.

"There is nothing wrong with humans" Said Navon "I admire them in a way... Their lives burn away quickly, but their flame is brighter for it. By the time an elf has put away the toys of childhood a human can have grown, become a great archmage, laid cities to waste with his magic, and died... But of course, the elf will still have hundreds of years on this plane to master his own magics, and the human will not, so perhaps things are equal for all of that. I myself hope to emulate a human in the speed of my acomplishments, though not in the longevity. No. I very much want to live to see a thousand."

The odd gray skin man shrugged and smiled.

"Ah, enough of that." He said "There is room enough for every race in this strange land, and while some of your ways may be strange to me the language of magic is universial. Deerhunter, if I may ask you a question, the high preistess never told us the nature of this book. Only that it was powerful, and magical... Do you know anything of its origins? Of what it does? I would be interested in learning these things."

Letting her friend answer questions about the book, Kyte looked to the one who introduced himself as Dimitri. "As with your friend there, I can speak for none but myself. However, though our skills may be similar, they can be applied in different ways. The question of our 'main tracker' may not have to be answered." Stepping back a few paces in demonstration, she allowed her hair and armor to blend slightly with the shadows cast by the gate, and seemed almost to disappear.

"Besides"I continue "There's little reason to decide on a 'main tracker', because one of us could catch the tracks for a bit, and then lose them, and the other could be the one to pick them up. We can both search for the tracks, after all, the more eyes the better. Just ask the Beholder."

eek eek At that moment Dimitri just seem to explode, his eye just shine with a light of a child whose hungry for knowledge has not been satisfied. "WOWTHATWASSOTOTALLY AWSOME!!! CANYOUTEACHMETODOTHATORISITJUSTNATURALFORYOUTOBLENDLIKETHAT blaugh ?" After taking a deep breathe as if to calm himself, regainning his composure for the third time to night, he speaks in his calm voice. " stare Once again, I feel I must appolgize for my outburst. But while we are on the topics of Beholders, should we meet up with one and kill it, may I take possession of the corpse?" stare

Well...that was...yes. Ahirman simply watched Dimitri's manic behavior with a raised brow. For now, he just ignored the strange arcanist and turned to the mayor, guard captain and Deerhunter.

"I we will be leaving in the morning, I owuld like to spend the remainder of my time tonight asisting in tending to the wounded, if possible."

At Dimitri's outburst, Kyte started to laugh, quickly bringing herself under control. With laughter still ringing in her voice, she told him, "For me it is but a simple trick. For one who is not come natrually to the talent, I suppose wearing dark armor or clothes and a cover over light hair will do. But you must also learn to be extremely still, and that is a task which takes much time and more practice."

Turning to the other, she says, "It seems we are of like mind, my friend. Forgive me for not entertaining you in your own language, it is not one I had the pleasure of learning."

Turning back toward Dimitri, Kyte said solomly, "Forgive my rudeness friend, but you had better hope we meet no Beholder, and if we do, and somehow manage to kill it, the corpse shall burn. There are many creatures that would kill out of fear alone one so powerful as to do that deed."

Up until this point, Byerek remained silent, simply observing the others interact while taking mental notes. Luckily enough for him, the others seemed oblivious to the symbols floating over his head. With a small gesture and a phrase whispered in illumian and dragonic, he watched and tried to get a gist of the magical aptitude of his new allies... *Detect Magic: Three rounds of studying*

((I don't know, but be glad you didn't need to roll, cuz you'd have failed bad))

I look around at all the people in the town, waiting for everyone to get here, so that we can start on the adventure. I feign being impressed with the other ranger, but have seen my share of others both beast and otherwise that could eaisly blend in with the shadows. I then direct my attention out of the town, to the woods, wondering what we'll meet on our adventure. My smile widens as I imagine the creatures we could encounter...perhaps even a giant...

Dorak listens to the talk of magic and tracking and the outburst of taking over a corpse of a beholder. He shakes his head at the talk and impatiently wants to get started on this adventure. Why in the name of all the gods would you ever want to take over a corpse of a beholder?
PostPosted: Sat Jun 10, 2006 6:45 pm

Sounding a bit hurt. " crying Well, it would be cool to have a beholder corpse for two reasons, first animate it to fight for us. The second, *brightning up a little* can you imagine the defense capablity if it were to be made into a chest of some sort? Anyways if we are capable of killing a beholder, who cares what comes after us or me at that point. xp " The last part was spoken with an odd twinkle in his eye. "Oh, one last thing, I don't mind being asked about my personal ability, whether I'm good or evil, poisoned or even diseased. I think I covered all of it...beyond the point. But please don't beam that Detect whatever at me at least. Seeing it's blocked by lead sheets, I consider it raditation and is therefore harmful to me. Excuse me." Immediately walks toward the source, stopping halfway and remembering how rude it was before finish listening to his peers. Dimitri walks back and stands behind Kyte and pulls a lead sheet from his backpack and puts it in front of himself. xd

Turning to look at Dimitri, Kyte had a surprised/amused look on her face. "Ah, what are you doing? I mean, I believe I can understand the lead plate, but why are you standing behind me?"
PostPosted: Sat Jun 10, 2006 7:13 pm

((umm...you don't have a lead sheet in your inventory. I also don't think Detect Magic is deflected by lead sheets, it's not an X-Ray. And lastly, you can't look and just know what he's casting, you'd have to roll for that. I think it's a spellcraft roll.))

"what is taking them? I'm ready to leave, get out of here, get on with it. We're wasting precious time." I look around, hoping to see someone coming towards us that might be able to send us off on the quest

Deerhunter lets everyone finish up their greetings. "I see Ira coming now, lets see what he found out, then we'll head to Bearpaw's house. If you would prefer to head to one of the temporary shelters and assist the healers, Ahirman, I can give you directions to Bearpaw's so you can meet us there. We should be leaving before dawn. Also, the stolen book contains powerful magic. I am sure the book is too powerful for any of us to weild, and Moonwind has asked me, as I am sure she asked you, to bring it back unused."

The Guard Captain comes walking up to your group as Deerhunter speaks with a sour look on his face. "I spoke to a few of the locals and merchants, and discovered little. A swordsmith apparently sold him some goods on his way into town, and says his hideout must lie to the east. Also, one of the food merchants said he overheard Hadonis saying that his home was on top of an Elven burrow, whatever that may be. I do not know of any elves who dwell underground in this area. It sounds to me like speaking to the wood elves in the forest may be the best place to start, if you can find them. They are a very secretive bunch. I wish you all good luck."

Deerhunter looks up at the cloudy sky, rain falling in his face. "That information is a better start than nothing. I wish Moonwind's divinations had worked. Come, let us head to Bearpaw's and get ready to depart."
