A mirky memory of the Ren festival crept into her mind disheartening Yukie and making her feel sick, if only mentally. She gave a weak wave to the armored men listening but losing his words to the void of her own mind. Ren-fest had been a rough point during her coma that she wanted to block out. Aware yet asleep. Dreaming in reality. She could only imagine that whole affair was what it must be like to sleepwalk. She could almost feel the collar around her neck and the inebriation of that heavy alcohol clouding her mind. In a way, getting drunk had probably saved her a whole lot of extra drama later on. It was what had gotten her pulled from the project after all.
"Mightyena huh. They're cute." Yukie said trying to focus on something, anything else. The canines made for the perfect distraction. She obviously wasn't going to get to pet either of them, they were much to apprehensive of strangers, but she might be able to learn more about them. Maybe even where to find them in the wild? Not one to care about being rude she opened her mouth about to talk over Riley when people yelling cut her off. Air caught in her throat making her cough hard. Hunched over Yukie coughed into her hand battling to regain normal breathing watching as a platinum colored Eevee rushed down the road and into the group nearly tackling Riley over. Princess?
"Princess!" Yukie coughed. "You've got to be~" She couldn't finish the sentence being caught off a second time. This time by one of the knights. His attention was drawn to another joining the group. Her mouth dropped open in disbelief when she saw them, however. A talking Pokemon! In armor? Yukie stood rooted in place for a moment. Unsure she was seeing what she was seeing. Rubbing her eyes didn't make things any less.. weird. Yukie wasn't familiar with this species of Pokemon. It, like the Eevee and Mightyena, was canine in appearance, at least to some degree. It was also oddly humanoid. Up, right, bipedal, thumbed, and intelligent enough to communicate.
Yukie offered it a hand, still confused beyond words. Maybe it was a Zoroa's illusion or something? No, as soon as she touched its paw it should have dissipated surely. At least that's how Rahvok's illusions had worked. But it didn't. It was solid. Yukie pulled her hand back first chance she got getting a weird feeling about this odd humanoid creature. Like, it could see parts of who she was not visible to the naked eye. Maybe it was just the way it could speak and its posturing that bothered her. At any rate, Yukie steeled herself trying not to look too disconcerted. "Um, I'm Yukie Havick~" She managed eyeballing Riley for an explanation to this madness. "Till the bubbles stop!" Squaked Olm catching Yukie so off guard she yelped in shock dropping both Bris and Thib. Thankfully neither was hurt.
Yukie held her arms across her chest like it might keep her heart from exploding out. Bris mistook Yukie's shock as pain from an attack. Taking a large gulp of air the tiny tadpole puffed up like a balloon. It was a Stockpile. In the wild, he'd been rather weak but Yukie had trained him well enough to defend himself now. The puffed up weakling that he was still packed a nice assortment of threatening moves. Anyone of which would make must Pokemon think twice before attacking him. If the wooper hadn't been deflated before he sure was now. Bris looked to the other Pokemon with Yukie for guidance so if Ulf said it was a bad idea, it was a bad idea. ["A"ohh. Could you?"]["~I could - but id still lose."] Ulf was a good judge of strengths and weakness at glance. Yukie ignorant to the conversation taking place between the Pokemon, having recovered her breath, knelt down to retreat Bris. Thib was already airborne floating in circles around the group giggling. Silf, hanging from the tree occasionally flapping a wing to give the Hoppip more spin as she floated by. "Sorry, yeah I'm fine." Yukie began giving Riley the eye again. "I just wasn't expecting. Well, im not sure what I was expecting really."
Yukie shifted weight off her newly injured leg. It still hurt from time to time. She would need to discretely get some clean bandages. For whatever reason, she didn't want Riley to know she'd been stabbed. Not in public at least. It felt like it would be too much extra drama over nothing. "Not to push this little reunion along but can we go someplace to sit down at least?" Yukie pulled her bag off and let it drop to the ground with a heavy thud. Kuraz nodded in appreciation to the spearow for clearing things up. He didn't want a fight, especially over a misunderstanding. It was a little odd to be talked about while he was listening, and he wasn't sure if he was amused or embarrassed. He at least avoided rubbing the back of his head with a paw. He could imagine that this all must be odd for both the human and the pokemon, though he actually had no idea that a talking pokemon might be as odd as it was. "Riley, did you tell her anything before coming here?" he asked, giving voice to a growing suspicion. Riley's mischievous smile told him the truth. He sighed. "Be sure to explain later. For now, let me escort you to your rooms." He was now eager to push them along. In addition to Yukie's tiredness, he also noticed some of the guards bristling at Yukie's tactless words. Though Palla seemed to find being called cave people amusing.
Riley was a little distracted by Amalia, so it took her a moment to jump after Kuraz. Palla offered to carry Yukie's bag for her, and Riley's as well. "Oh no, it's fine," she shook her head. Then Kuraz was leading them through the courtyard and into the castle proper. Dozens of people roamed the halls, from maids to scholars to knights. And there were just as many if not more pokemon: furrets running along the raftors in the ceiling, a farfetch'd carrying a surprisingly pointy leek, pidgey flitting about with letters in their talons. "There's a lot more people than I thought there'd be. And pokemon," she added. Kuraz considered. "And what were you expecting?" Empty halls? What was the point of a castle if it were not filled with activity, serving its people? Many of those people called hello to Kuraz and Amalia as they passed, eyeing with curiosity the girls accompanying them. Kuraz smiled ruefully. There was no keeping secrets in a place like this.
"As for a phone, Yukie, I can have one brought to you. If you have a personal one, it will work in the capitol." He cocked his head at her questioningly- he had thought all humans had portable communicators like Riley outside of Elchaine. "Most of our citizens prefer written communication, but the library acts as a link to outside the kingdom. Much of our technology is housed there. You may find a visit interesting tomorrow, though I cannot guarantee it will be anything you haven't seen before." Elchaine simply wasn't concerned with technology. The majority of what did exist was for the purpose of knowledge, communication, and healing.
The halls slowly became less populated, until there was only the occassional passerby, usually a maid. "Here are your rooms," Kuraz announced, stopping and gesturing towards two tall doors. "There is a connecting door on the inside if you need each other. Ritter will be guarding the halls until late morning; if you need anything, call for him. He understands most human words. One bark is yes, two barks no." There was, of course, a more established base of communication between humans and pokemon here, but for now that would do. "We will see you in the morning," he finished pointedly, plucking Amalia from Riley's arms. It was certainly the little one's bedtime.
Riley watched Kuraz leave, still finding it fascinating to see him in his, well, natural habitat. Maybe home was a better word for it. "So yeah, that was Kuraz and Amalia. Told you I knew them." Riley grinned. Because she was assuming Yukie's grumpiness was because of the situation than because of a secret stab wound or something she was finding it very amusing. "I promise I'll explain in the morning." She pushed open the door to her room, stepped inside, and cried out in delight. "Wow Yukie, this is so cool!" She ducked her head into the hallway, eyes sparkling, then disappeared back inside. The room was what you would expect for a castle bedroom for the most part, but it had clearly been made with pokemon in mind as well. There were low beds and baskets filled with cushions, raftors with head space for flying types, and a low pool of water. Upon further inspection, Riley found a bathroom on the opposite side of the small pool; it seemed to connect to a large stone tub. Thankfully, it looked like they had indoor plumbing.
Seul had already laid down on a cushion by the fireplace. Riley felt free to let the rest of her pokemon out. Even though it made the room cramped, it was a good kind of full with a place for everyone. Hubble was admittedly pushing it, but he seemed happy to curl up on the floor using a particularly sturdy cushion as a blanket. Riley herself, of course, used the bed.

In the end, before Pallas could pick the bag up, Yukie had it back over her shoulder following the talking Pokemon as it led them through the castled courtyard and then through its halls towards their rooms.
"So long as it works, I couldn't care less." Yukie replied to Kuraz as he explained the phone situation. It was probably too much to ask for a PC to exchange Pokemon. If these people didn't like Pokeballs it was unlikely they had a device that relied on Pokeball technology. For that matter, they probably relied on herbal medical treatments for both people and Pokemon.
On occasion, Yukie glanced out the large stain glass windows as they walked spotting Silf as he fluttered about outside looking for a good place to roost for the night that kept them in sight. Yukie doubted that would be possible once they got to their rooms Olm and Uft had taken up home on her shoulders, with Briss waddling at the rear of the group. Thib clung to her head giggling happily.
Finally, after nearly ten full minutes of walking, they came to a stop. Kuraz motioned at two large oaken doors. Yukie yawned ready to relax for the day. Nothing too eventful had happened but she'd come a long way all in all. She was tired but had a few more things to take care of before she could go to sleep. Calling Verka would have to wait, unfortunately. The one thing she'd been looking for.
Riley was first into a room, popping her head out a second later to relay her excitement. Yukie waited for the cost to be clear before snagging Lucarios attention. "Can I get some bandages?" She asked in a hush motioning with her head to her leg pulling the shirt aside to reveal the hidden bandages beneath. The Pokemon nodded in understanding but it was Ritter who would return with what she needed.

She honestly wasn't expecting the castle to be as massive as it was. She was perhaps at the three quarts point when she had to take a breather. Slumped against the side of a building heaving, right up until an eruption of black flames blasted out of the open window above her.
"Son of a bit~" Yukie yelped rolling to the side in a fight as the flames gave way to thick white smoke. People were coughing and choking and scrabbling out of the building in all directions. Some were yelling profanities of their own. Crawling to safety Yukie got far enough away to eventually realize the building was, in fact, a barn. Inside a black Ponyta was kicking and thrashing to escape a saddle.
Beneath her flurry of stomping hoves and kicks was a young boy scrabbling for safety and yelling for help but continuity kept getting trapped in the danger zone. Without thinking, Yukie scrambled to her feet rushing the Fire-Horse and tackling giving the boy time to flee. The horse was a feet shorter then she was, but it was a lot stronger. Yukie had to struggle to hold her still long enough to get the saddle buckling lose enough for it to fall off. As soon as it did the Ponty calmed down. Yukie hissed holding her leg.
She'd opened the wound and blood had soaked through the bandages now. Yukie hissed slumping down as stable hands came to restrain the Pontya and get it back into its corral. "Are you alright?" One asked coming to her side. "What the hell is your problem!" Yukie snapped pulling the hand's collar and wringing it tight around his neck. "Can't you see it doesn't like being restrained!" The man pulled free more than a little frightening at the fem's snarling expression.
Yukie wouldn't make it back to her room to greet Riley when she woke. Instead, she was taken to a physician to be treated. A proper bandage put on her leg, along with four stitches to keep the wound from reopening in the near future. Now she sat, leg propped up, reading and awaiting Riley's grand entrance and the barrage of questions that was sure to follow. Honestly, she was far more concerned with the Ponyta then people.

When Riley knocked on the door connecting their rooms in the morning, she had been hoping to get a response but didn't expect one. She knew Yukie seemed to get up a lot earlier. And of course it would be too easy if Yukie was just in her room, right? Riley shrugged. "Come on Seul, let's find Yukie and grab breakfast." She had already returned all her other pokemon, wanting to avoid questions on where they had come from. For now she stepped into the hall. Not as comfortable with running around in someone else's castle as Yukie, she waited awkwardly after calling Ritter's name. He padded up, nodding respectfully to Seul. "Ritter, do you know where Yukie is?" she asked.
If mightyena were capable of rolling their eyes, he would've. Instead Ritter snorted, whuffed softly, and turned with a flick of his tail. He left them with a guard who knew of the morning's "incident" and explained to Riley that her friend had been taken to get treatment. Riley was at first worried, and then embarrassed that the friend she had brought with her couldn't go one day without making a scene. The guard said Yukie wasn't badly hurt, but didn't really know the details. No, it would be up to Yukie to explain that when she got there.
Yukie didn't look too bad sitting in the bed. Riley was grateful she looked okay, and walked in with Seul following like her shadow. "You couldn't wait one day to get in trouble, could you?" she asked with a ghost of a smile. Then, a little more seriously, "You seem to get hurt a lot. You're okay, right? What happened?" All she had gotten out of the guard was that it had something to do with the stables?

Yukie was eager to get away from the man with all the needles so she'd take the opportunity to make her escape. "Whelp enough of that. Can I have my pants back now?" The man rolled his eyes and crossed the room to pull a curtain closed blocking Yukie from Riley's view. "Very well, just remember. NO running for at least a week. Im not sticking you back up again." Yukie's shadow, silhouetted on the sheet showed her jumping down, then pulling her pants on. "Yeah, yeah~ You're worse than my sister." The physician came back around towards Riley. "I feel sorry for her." His comment was directed at Riley but worded to seem otherwise. "What was that?!" Yukie snapped defensively. "Just get dressed and go~'
Yukie yanked the curtains back eyeing the man as she pasted Seul, running fingers down the Absols back noting how soft its fur was. "Give me an hour and ill see if I can't snap a femur." She called as she crossed from the room into the hall leading the way. At least to the end of the short hallway. she paused to let the guard and Riley catch up before she started to explain the situation. "I was on my morning run. Saw some dults were trying to wrangle a black Ponyta so it blasted them. Then some dumb a** kid almost got trampled. I had to do something!" She raised her voice and her arms into the air. "Guess I fell on something sharp and it stabbed me?" She lied still not wanting Riley to know the truth. Yukie turned on the guard jabbing his chest plate with a finger. "I better not find out those morons have that Ponyta tied up or so help me Arceus!"

Riley hop-stepped closer, giving Yukie a more serious look-over while asking, "What were you doing, anyways?" She reeeally hoped Yukie hadn't actually caused any trouble. Part of her was glad the doctor had such an interesting bedside manner... probably meant everything was fine. Mostly. Seul had other thoughts, namely that this was completely expected for him. Seriously, how did Riley find friends like these? Where was the nice boy Huey? Now there was someone his Riley should be spending more time with. He shook his fur after Yukie trailer her finger through it, grumbling to himself.
On the way out, Riley called back to the doctor. "You should be nicer. Otherwise she really will get hurt again just to spite you." Then she trotted to catch up with Yukie, unable to keep the worried look off her face, though it changed to curiosity as Yukie explained what had happened. "Really? I wonder what they were doing? I thought- well, it sounds weird for a place like this. I wish you hadn't got hurt." She'd been the one to bring Yukie here, and it felt like it was partially her fault. Again. As if every time she chose something to do Yukie ended up hurt. The only thing taking the edge off the guilt was the growing knowledge that this might just be...how Yukie was.
The guard brushed aside Yukie's finger. "Miss Havick. I may not know the situation, but I do know no pokemon would be tied up without a good reason. We don't treat pokemon like they do where you're from." He didn't quite call them savages, but his too-polite tone edged with hardness spoke volumes. "Now that you two have found each other, I'll be on my way. Breakfast is in the kitchens," he added, because Riley had asked him on the way over. With that he left, the very definition of "they don't pay me enough for this".
Riley watched the guard go. He'd seemed so helpful when she first ran into him. Well, guess people were still people, even here. "By the way, aren't you... don't you want to put some better clothes on?" she questioned, eyeing Yukie. "Maybe we can find that ponyta and figure out what was going on?"

Yukie did, however, take a few extra minutes to bread her considerably long hair into a collection of dread like braids. Each one nearly a foot and a half long. To accompany the change in hairstyle she wore a black sundress. Shoulderless and open in the back and held up by a loop of fabric that acted like a collar. A personal favorite of hers and as long s she was inside the castle, it was warm enough. None the less she wore matching leggings and a fou-fur trim coat and a white scarf.
In her haste, Yukie left her bag behind but took Bris and Thib in her arms while letting Olm and Uft out a window to explore and play with Silf. Eventually, Jruz's Pokeball would roll out of her bag, due to vibrations, and fall to the floor, releasing the soon to be trouble-making Sneasel. Yukie would already be back at the stables with the black Ponyta shes spoken of before by the time the guards caught wind of anything being amiss. Yukie fawned over the black mare shocking it keepers who refused to even get close to it. Yukie said it wanted out of the pin to run and when pressed on how she knew she replied. "Because she's like me, she wants to be free to do what she wants and you've limited her freedom so she's pissed." The keepers reluctantly let the young mare out catching a snort of black flames as its only show of appreciation. With that taken care of, Yukie was able to call Verka knowing the mare would get better attention from now on.
Making their way to the library Yukie somehow wasn't shocked to discover the Pc was an outdated junker. It worked, but only barely. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's no big deal." Yukie lied about the stab wound after having updated him on the current goings on over the past weak. Yukie's mood had drastically shifted after learning Verka would be staying for a prolonged period of time due to his brother's health. She could understand so made no point to rushing him back or hinting at her missing him. The bulk of the conversation was settled around her brown hair and how he thought it brought out a more natural beauty in her. Yukie adamantly disagreed but wasn't intent on redye her hair crimson just yet. "I'm sorry Yuk's I've got to go!" Verka said suddenly and the line turned black. "Verka wait~ I lo~" She didn't have a chance to say it.
"Miss, Havick. we need you to come with us." Yukie swiveled in her chair to find two guards flanking her on either side. Neither looked to be in a good mood. Yukie immediately realized the body language. She was in trouble. "What now?" She muttered rolling her eyes, crossing her arms and leaning back against the PC screen. "Your under arrest for theft""Excuse me?" Yukie shot up. Ok yeah, she was a thief but to accuse someone of a crime usually meant they had committed one first. "The personal belonging of several persons was found in your room. Now, stand up!." The man reached out and grabbed Yukie by the forearm and hoisted her out of the chair. Bad idea. There was a lag considering her actions as Yukie grabbed the mans belt and shoulder and turned, tipping his weight in her favor and sending him crashing into the PC.
The second man, left so confused by the sudden flurry of motion, just stod looking between Yukie and his partner who was now picking himself out of the remains of the shattered table. Yukie didn't give an inch eyeing him with intent to do far worse if he tried to use force on her too. The seconds dragged on as both considered their next move until a second set of guards, these armed, had come to investigate. "Your outnumbered, just give up!" Yukie looked to Riley with remorse in her eyes. She might get away with tossing the one guard as self-defense. But not a whole room of them. Even worst, anything she did from here on out would only hurt Riley in the end. These people were her friends. Yukie was just a guest. Yukie sighed and set her hands on her head. She knew the routine.
Yukie was escorted to a holding cell. A cold dark stone room with no bed or toilet and thick iron bars. Bris and Thib were being held by the guards in the next room. As was the rest of her personal belongings. Yukie tried not to think about the men shuffled through her things. Some of which were highly suggestive. "For what its worth, If I had stolen something, no one would have caught me." Yukie explained to Riley once shed been permitted to visit. As if by magic, she produced the key to the handcuffs and freed herself but rather then unlock the cell, she tossed the key at Riley's feet. Rubbing her wrists Yukie slumped against the back of the cell until the pain was gone. Looking up she figured Riley deserved an explanation. She pulled the sundress aside to reveal the Crowned red R on her right breast. "I use to be in a criminal gang." She said letting the fabric return to normal. "I quite, wanted a new start and they couldn't give it. I don't expect anyone to believe me. But I didn't do this."

Although their breakfast was pretty standard, the combo of not eating pokemon center food and it being in such a cool place made it seem better to Riley. It helped that a lot of the ingredients were quite fresh. Afterwards, they made their way to the stables, and Riley grinned as she watched Yukie, the horse, and the...what were they called, hostlers? Yukie may seem all prickly and loud, but she really did care about pokemon. "You're the horse whisperer," Riley teased when Yukie re-joined her.
When they got to the library, Yukie of course went straight for the PCs. Riley wanted to give them time to talk alone, so she wandered around nearby. From what she could tell, the library was huge, and had tons of adjoining rooms and staircases tucked into corners that led both up and down. While the main room had tables for reading and looked very standard for a library, many of the side rooms (like the one Yukie was in with computers) were very different. What Riley liked the most though was the number of pokemon inside. She wasn't sure if pokemon could read or not, maybe there were picture books? She wandered a little closer to a table atop which rested a furret with a big book opened in front of it. Riley leaned to the side to see what was in the book, and noticed a little feathered face peaking over the tabletop. Its eyes and beak were glued on a bowl of berries atop the table, though Riley was startled into a laugh when a small mouth opened under the beak as it licked its lips. "Do you want one?" Riley asked, taking one and holding it out. The little bird pokemon gave a strangely warbly chirp of happiness and snatched the berry. But instead of shoving it in its mouth, it instead shoved it in a pouch at its side. "Glyff!"
Riley stared after the bird, blinking in confusion. Curious, she followed it to see what it was going to do with the berry. It ducked into a side room, and Riley heard a voice reacting to the little bird's entrance. "Oh, Alula, how did you get a hold of another berry..." The motherly chirping voice was coming from a larger bird. "Yes, yes, it's fine." Riley heard the happy chirrup of the little bird, and then saw it running towards a bare wall that was covered in colorful hand prints and symbols. "Um...hello? Sorry, I gave h- Alula a berry." The hierune shifted and stood, and at once Riley knew this must be "Alula"s mother, and the evolved form of whatever pokemon they were. The bird chuckled, and it sounded oddly like rocks shuffling in her throat. "It's no issue. Alula would find a way to get new berries anyways. I choose to keep them out in the library for anyone visiting." She strode forward, her strange taloned feet clacking like heels on the floor. "I am Selas, welcome to my library."
"Nice to meet you, Selas." At that moment Alula came running up, her talons covered in the blue smear of berry juice. [ Mama, mama, look what I did! Guess what it says, guess! ] Riley might have left to find Yukie before the other girl got mad at Riley disappearing on her, but Alula turned her attention to Riley. [ Thanks for the berry, lady! It's good, you should see! ] Riley didn't know what Alula's chirping meant, but suddenly the sticky talon had Riley's hand and was dragging her over to the wall. Riley was surprised at how rough and hard the palm felt, and saw there were little rocks. "I'm sorry, she's very excitable," Selas said. Riley shook her head. "I don't mind." Riley didn't have to ask to get what it was Alula wanted to show her, and spent a few minutes oohing and ahhing as Alula pointed out all her different drawings and chatted away while an amused Selas watched.

Riley could only stay so long, however. At the very least, she needed to go let Yukie know where she was. Except when she walked out of Selas and Alula's room she was greeted by the sight of guards flanking Yukie at her computer. Alarmed, Riley ran forward, about to exclaim that Yukie hadn't done anything wrong. Her assumption that the guards were there about the ponyta was dashed when she heard them call Yukie a thief. A thief. "There must be some mistake," Riley said, mostly to herself. She started forward but Seul barred her way, shaking his head. It wouldn't do anyone any good if Riley got involved and got in trouble too. If Yukie hadn't done anything, and to Seul that was definitely an if, Riley would only be able to help if she was as uninlved as possible. Still, Riley cried out, "Yukie, what's going on?" When she met her friend's gaze, she added, "They're lying, right?" Riley's eyes flashed. She had clearly decided that Yukie hadn't done anything and was about to do something stupid. Seul bodied her off-balance, long enough for the guards to begin taking Yukie away.
Riley left the library as soon as the lingering guards (who had sensed Riley might try and pull something) dispersed. Kuraz met her at the castle gate. "Kuraz!" The lucario could tell she was distraught, and held a paw up to sooth her. "I am aware of the situation." Though he said that, Riley could tell something was bothering him. Of course, it was uncomfortable to deal with a breach of trust, especially when he had vouched for the person in question. "Several items belonging to others were found in your friend's room while it was being cleaned." Riley shook her head. "Well it's probably some misunderstanding. When would Yukie have even taken anything? She's been with me the whole time." Kuraz leveled his gaze at her. "And at night? Did you stay up in the same room as her?" Riley bit her lip. She was sure there was some way, logically... "Well, she got up early and went for a run, how could she of done that if she was stealing stuff? Plus, Ritter was in the hall the whole night, he would've noticed something," Riley finished, proud of her reasoning. "And do you know she did nothing while on that run?" Though what she said did bother Kuraz. He had noticed, Ritter actually seemed agitated over the whole affair. Kuraz had chalked it up to the mightyena being too proud to believe someone could have escaped his notice, and that was certainly part of it, but for some reason Ritter seemed to believe Yukie genuinely hadn't done it.
Either way, Riley was determined to get to the bottom of things and Kuraz could see that. "At the moment her room is being searched, but I can get you in to see your friend." Kuraz was distinctly uncomfortable- as Riley's friend, he genuinely hoped she was right about Yukie. But as a knight of the kingdom, he had to assume the worst. He explained to the guards in no uncertain terms that Riley was allowed to visit the prisoner, and then left her to try looking into the matter himself. "My abilities may shed light on the situation." Before he left Riley thanked him.
Yukie's first statement startled a laugh out of Riley. "That would've made things easier," she joked back before realizing what she was saying, which sobered her up. She stared dumbly at the key as it clattered to her feet. It made her stomach twist to see her friend behind bars, it felt wrong. Though she was struck by how... normal Yukie looked, leaning against the wall and rubbing her wrists in what almost seemed like a familiar motion. Yukie's next movements were unexpected, but that wasn't the reason Riley was in shock. It was because of the red R she revealed. Some deep part of her wasn't really surprised (Seul wasn't surprised at all), but Riley really hadn't expected it. She was reminded faintly of when they had first met, the way Yukie had reached out for her spinarak and how alarmed Riley had been. She had assumed she was just wary because of Mael. But Riley also remembered how they had traded, and how happy Yukie was with her new spinarak. "I believe you. But I guess I don't count, since I'm your friend, right?" she said with a wry smile. After a long pause, Riley turned a bit more serious. "Honestly, I dunno how to feel about your past. I.. someone stole some of my pokemon before. Kuraz- that's how I met Kuraz." It didn't feel like the time to tell the whole story, but Riley realized she'd really needed to talk about it, and maybe Yukie would understand. "It might be why people here are extra on edge about a possible thief. But I do know that if you didn't do this, then there's got to be an explanation. If no one else will figure it out, I will."

It was sort of expected Riley would tell her how terrible a person she was and how she couldn't believe she'd do this to her. All to often did people jump to conclusion and make accusations because of her foul mouth and attitude. Not that of any of was every unfounded, truth be told, Non the less, by now Yukie was more accustomed to dealing with that then what Riley actually did. Riley's confirmation that Yukie was still a friend and proclamation to help prove her innocence shattered her mental defense and left her speechless.
No one, not even Verka, had acted in her defense like this before. Verka took the approach of directing her away from trouble but letting her deal with the consequences of her actions all the same. Yukie wasn't sure how she should respond. She wanted to take a jab at the kid for being so naive, but couldn't. Something inside her made that not an option. Instead, what Yukie said just .. came out. "I'm... still... your friend?" She said in a hushed almost whispered voice. Almost to herself. Yukie sat, legs pulled in with her head buried into her knee's, arms crossed on top to hide her face and the tears starting to well at the corners of her eyes. Now more then ever she wished Verka was around. She was not the people person she needed to deal with this situation. She was far too easily provoked. You won't have to Miss Riley. The culprits already been apprehended." A guard announced stepping into the room.
Yukie looked up, sniffed and played the tears off as having something in her eye. "Though, miss Havick is no less guilty of influencing the real criminal." The man continued kneeling down to pick the key up at Riley's feet. He paused to consider how Yukie had gotten ahold of it, or maybe why shed not used it to escape it? Either way, he shook his head and unlocked the cell door and let it swing wide. "It was your Sneasal." He continued holding out the now empty Pokeball the Pokemon in question had escaped from. He looked as disgusted with the device as Yukie might expect. "It took a while to track her scent but she inadvertently proved your innocence for you. As for the assault of a castle guard, that's being treated as self-defense." A second, female, guard brought in Yukie's belongings and saluted the male. "Miss Havick, I'll be escorting you at all times from here on."
Escorted? "You mean your babysitting me, right?' The command slipped out, but without Yukie's normal sarcastic tone of voice. "If that's what you want to call it, then yes." Yukie couldn't argue it. Looking to Riley, she found she couldn't yet make eye contact. She felt a little ashamed her past had crept up and involved Riley into her affairs. Even when trying to put her past behind her, stuff like this happened all too often. Something had to be said though. "Are you doing to have more awkward questions?" Yukie cringed at the idea. "I'm warning you, runt, it's not all pg-13!" Yukie wasn't sure who she wanted to deal with less. Her thieving Sneasel, the talking Lucario who was sure to have something to say on this whole affair or Riley's curiosity. "Arceus save me."

Riley, having gotten a bit worked up, was surprised by Yukie's response. She'd just assumed how Yukie felt about all this, that she was nonchalant and probably a bit pissed. A vague sense of vertigo accompanied the shifting of her understanding as she watched Yukie curl in on herself. Oh. Momentarily at a loss for words, Riley swallowed. "'Course," she said, her throat suddenly feeling just a bit tight.
It was a good thing the guard chose then to come along, because Riley was about ready to go flying off brimming with j u s t i c e for her friend. But even as she stepped back so he could pick up the key, Riley still had that energy bouncing around. The relief that Yukie was not only innocent but proven innocent only barely took the edge off. "That's why you don't rush to conclusions," Riley chided the guard. A part of her knew that everyone had been burned badly by Mael's betrayal and theft, leaving them prone to overreaction. And they had probably done the right thing, treating a matter seriously. Riley glanced at Yukie. She wanted to say, that she would've thought in a place where pokemon were treated as equals everyone involved could have, somehow, seen what was happening. Riley knew now that she wanted to be the kind of person who could come up with those alternatives before jumping to conclusions.
Although Riley hadn't picked up on it, her presence did make many of the guards nervous, particularly after this misunderstanding. Everyone knew she was the one who had helped Kuraz retrieve their kidnapped princess, and to have wrongfully accused her friend of theft was embarrassing, even if they had been partially correct. Besides, they wouldn't have known about her sneasel. A fact Riley was reminded of as the guard handed back the pokeball. Oops.
And all of this runaway thinking was to keep her from very awkwardly avoiding eye contact with Yukie. It was sort of because she wanted to not make it obvious she'd noticed Yukie's feeling emotional, and it was also sort of because now that the "danger" was passed, Riley had to think about the fact that Yukie had been a criminal. The feeling of awkwardness was brief however, because Riley very bluntly told herself, That's dumb. She's still Yukie. You already decided that. You can figure the rest out later. Feeling better, Riley grinned at Yukie. "Oh don't worry Yukie. I'm sure you'll feel pleeenty uncomfortable~" As they walked up the steps to the castle above, Riley couldn't help but tease, "Arceus isn't here. Which is probably a good thing, since you'd steal it too." She snorted.
Kuraz was waiting for them upstairs. He looked like he always did, but Riley could tell their was a hint of hesitation in his manner. He probably was feeling preeeety silly right now. "Miss Yukie. I am glad things have worked out. I trust you'll keep a closer eye on your pokemon this time." There was just a hint of amusement there, though he was definitely going for stern. After all, if she had been more responsible none of this would have happened. If he hadn't heard of her actions at the stable earlier that day, he would have likely been much more angry with her.

She was so used to being on the receiving end of punishment for something she'd actually done that current events felt almost surreal. Being set free felt almost like a joke. They could have easily kept her locked up and brought Jruz to join her for the "extended stay". Did being friends with Riley have anything to do with it? She was in with the "royalty" here after all. Maybe strings were pulled in her favor? Whatever the cause Yukie was just grateful she wasn't getting left behind for once in her life. She hadn't told Verka where she was either. No telling if he'd figure out how to find her, let alone get her out.
Yukie crept towards the open cell door. Wary the guards might yet slam it back in her face and laugh. The female guard took a step back as she exited noticing her apprehension. Yukie was almost sure the lady recognized a seasoned criminal when she saw one. Everything about Yukie just screamed crook in that moment. If nothing else her mistrust was self-evident. Yukie stuck by Riley once she was out and the male guard had closed the cell door. He then returned to the guard room where the female guard had just come from. A second later Yukie's wooper, Hoppip and Sneasel came out and up her.
Sneasel wasn't in handcuffs but Yukie sure thought she should be. "I'll deal with you later." Yukie ignored the disdain of the guards and recalled the dark type to its ball. "I can't trust she might not do something else." She explained attempting to sooth over the guard's angered expressions. She'd ball Olm to considering he was probably insulting people in the court yeard but he wasn't present. Thib took her normal place atop Yukie's head and Bris in her trainer's arms.
From there Yukie followed Rileys lead upstairs, who was in turn followed by the female guard. Yukie didn't like being watched, or followed so closely, but couldn't really blame anyone. She had tossed a guard twice her size clean over her shoulder and into a table after all. No telling how much the damage to the PC and table would cost.
Upon sit of seeing the talking Lucario waiting for them, Yukie sighed pretty heavily. She just couldn't catch a break today. She could tell the canine was more than a little wary himself now that word had spread a known criminal was within the castle walls. It probably didn't bode well for Riley she'd brought her here either. "I didn't know she was on the loss or I would have warned you." Yukie said with a shrug. It wasn't like it was her fault Jruz had gotten lose and she wasn't about to accept the blame for what her Pokemon did of their own accord. "But yeah, ill keep this one under lock and key from now on." Yukie pocketed the red and white orb between her breasts once she'd shrink it down.
Yukie took a moment to finally look at Riley and consider her actions and those of her Pokemon, past, and present. Riley had backed her, defended her. When no one else had or would have Riley took a stand. For the first time, Yukie felt that twinge of a thieves honer well up inside her. Honer among thieves. "Look, I don't know if my words worth anything considering my past~" Yukie looked back to the Lucario but not before ruffling Riley's hair. "She's a good kid, Better them my a** at her age." Yukie gave a smile to the runt. "What happened today shouldn't reflect on her, ... and I won't let it." Yukie popped her knuckles and neck making it known where she stood on the matter.
