[Rehab Center]

The child was wearing a mask with a circle marking crossed over a strange X, and had been wearing that one all morning. Despite being overly vocal the days before about some incident regarding some stolen box (nobody could make heads or tails what box that was), it was very quiet today, almost too obedient. Maybe just the presence of Rep had cooled its hot temper.

"I'm good at fighting," it whispered encouragingly to Rep as they talked about a change in location. "I'm good at a lot of things." It glanced down at the other two children, as if challenging them.

[ REHAB CENTER ]

The color of this room - or lack thereof, really - hurt his eye. Yuki squinted against the bright white with a bit of a sneer. Why was he here? He didn't want to be here. This place made him feel on edge and he couldn't understand why.

There were others around, and while he could hear snippets of conversation among them he paid the majority of them little mind aside from a glance for anyone he particularly cared about. Familiar faces were everywhere all the time, but it didn't mean he had to talk to everyone.

Yuki passed by the only piece of furniture in the room, pausing to read the survey. That was as far as he got with it before walking away without so much as picking one up. It did remind him to make sure he still had his cell on him;
oh good, he hadn't forgotten it in his room again. He looked to the window,
giving the javelin only a cocked brow of acknowledgement. He would have been enthusiastic about rain on the isle, but anymore it was more an annoyance than a blessing.

He scanned those mulling about one last time, ready to just leave this blinding room and all of the people in it behind, to notice a friend. Well, friend was probably too strong a word, but he'd consider the man more than a common acquaintance. Yuki moved toward Jay and the people he was presently (probably) arguing with, unaware that he'd just approached them.

"Someone needs to," Yuki commented casually, "I'm sure it'd be a lot quieter to listen to you choking instead of talking." He'd stepped up behind and slightly to the side of Jay, gaze on the back of the blonde's head a moment, then to the two he was harassing. He'd clearly only heard the tail end of what Jay had said, but it wasn't difficult to assume that he'd grated at someone's nerves again. Wasn't it too early for this? Yuki furrowed his brow and realized he didn't actually have the foggiest idea what time it was. At least that odd expression was aimed at Jay, instead of making it look like he was casting the displeased look at Xiao or Kiki.

That was a challenge. Maze peered up at her brother, narrow-eyed, and hissed back, "I'm good at all the things."

[REHAB CENTER] -- (401 words)

He jumped a bit when Kara spoke to him, having been quite distracted in looking around at everything. He glanced between her and the other standing there with her, wondering for a moment if he'd been disturbing their conversation with his looking about. Aran had vaguely identified that they were talking between themselves, but had honestly been more curious about the room itself. He'd glanced over when the other one had turned in a circle to show off his wings, but that was about it. Plus, from the sound of it, he wasn't sure how much more information they would have than he did.
Then again... He would be remiss if he didn't at least ask, right?

"Should we go look around at that, then?" referring to looking for more news around the tower. Then, belatedly, "my name is Aran, of Conquest." Not really bothering to ask if he was, in fact, invited to explore with them, Aran moved over to join the two of them anyway. Kara and... Yild.. Yildi... Yildrum. ...No, that wasn't it. Yeeldrum. No, no. Yeeldeerim. ...No.

Perhaps he should have been paying more attention to the others in the room. He'd heard their names vaguely, but...

"You're Kara, but..." His loose pointing moved from the horsewoman to the other horseman. "Can you repeat your name for me, please?"

Hopefully he wouldn't take offense. Aran wasn't here to make enemies, particularly. The War horseman seemed reasonable enough, but... they'd only just met. For all Aran knew, he was sensitive about his name. Then again, for all Aran knew, he was good-natured and wouldn't care at all.

After all, they had just met.

Aran's name wasn't particularly hard, and "Kara" was pretty straightforward, but the other name had at least three syllables. Maybe four syllables. Aran could think of a couple pronunciation possibilities where there would be four syllables. If Aran was going to expect cooperation from the other two, he should at least be able to say both their names, right?

Efreet's head was spinning, a dull and persistent ache throbbing in the back of his head as orange eyes surveyed his surroundings. Stretching his limbs, he heard the satisfying pop and crack of his spine settling back into place. First, he took a gander around the room, brows knitting together when he recognized nothing.

It was okay, there was more he could look for.

Stumbling over to the table he peered at the survey and he picked up a pen to fill it out. Squinting at the question, Efreet determined that he had no proper answers but still filled it out anyway.

Quote:
How was Dorothy’s performance?

Okay?

Would you recommend her to anyone else?

I guess??

On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being the least, how well would you say your memory rehabilitation process is going?

4, pretty sure I don't remember much.

Okay, so it was virtually pointless that he'd filled it out at all, but hey, he needed to do something while he waited for the good old memory banks to kick back in to gear.

Wandering over to the window, Efreet reached up to touch the spear protruding from it while he glanced curiously outside. Immediately he made a disgusted face upon seeing that it was raining. Yuck. He didn't care for the rain.

Sighing, he took note of the fact that he was on the second floor, okay, that was somewhere to start. Now, he just needed to get out of the room since there appeared to be nothing else of interest. Snatching up his phone, he shoved it into a pocket and went about his merry way.

When asked for his name, he squinted. "Efreet." The person looked relieved and he followed the direction of their point. Okay, good. There was an exit and that was somewhere to start even if he didn't look forward to possibly stepping out in the rain.

Before the sage could run off, he posed a question. "Why am I here?" The answer wasn't very satisfying but it was something and he tried his best not to look as confused as he felt.

Mostly content with what he had learned, or really didn't learn, Efreet resigned himself to wandering around a bit more. Maybe he'd see a familiar face or someone who wouldn't mind sticking it out with someone who really didn't remember much but his name.

Honestly, Kara could just keep complimenting Yildirim all day, whether directly by complimenting his wings or just by complimenting his clan. He definitely seemed a lot less agitated now, to say the least, more than a bit of a grin on his face when she commented that the wings were a boon to war, because of course they were.

He nearly preened.

Unfortunately, the praise wasn't quite enough to distract from the bright, sterile lights, and he had to agree. It was time to start looking elsewhere. With this new person. He looked like he was a Conquest horseman, considering he had those horns. Those eyes were nice, though. Yildirim found himself staring into them for just a moment--

His name, right, his name--

He offered a grin, clearly not minding needing to repeat his name. In fact, "Yildirim. Like yil-dir-im?" he provided a bit of a slower pronunciation guide, just in case it was missed again.

Then, he turned towards the exit. "I agree. Let's get out of here?"

When Nox opened his eyes to the plain, bright white of the ceiling above him, he didn't immediately think that this was a strange happenstance to have found himself in. He knew only of an inexplicable, muted sense of urgency, like there was something, somewhere, somehow that wasn't quite right. But he didn't know what it was and didn't know why he'd be feeling such a thing. Instead, he stood from his prone position, and glanced about his location. Despite the aid of "Dorothy" (of whom which he was very suspicious), nothing seemed especially miraculous or strange.

Except that, oh wait, that's right. Where was he? What was he doing here? Who was he, and perhaps most importantly, what was this place?

Nox's golden amber eyes squinted about the room, just white walls, a table, a few scattered others milling about. He couldn't help but noticed he wasn't the only one looking confused, and it seemed likely that no one in his immediate vicinity would be of much help in that regard. Being that he wasn't especially talkative to begin with and wasn't sure how much he trusted the other young horsemen in the same facility as he, Nox opted instead to approach one of the at least slightly-more-knowledgable-looking scientists.

Though this, too proved to be an almost entirely fruitless endeavor, likely in part due to Nox's own hesitant silence, but mostly due to the fact that the scientist apparently deemed him to be like the others. It shouldn't have been an offensive comment. It was hardly more than a handful of words, anyway. But it was, just the same, and Nox found himself striding away almost the instant the Famine man uttered those words.

Someone who'd been awake longer would surely know more than this individual was willing to tell him.

Kagerou the Conquest Horseman
◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆

[REHAB CENTER]

Kagerou opened his eyes, it almost felt like he was waking up into a dream with no beginning. His memories were a mess, a haze, with his first recollection of anything being the room he now stood in. The man reached up and tugged up the fur scarf that rested around his neck,
it seemed like a natural habit to him, maybe something he had picked up from another life. As the room was quite bleak in appearance he started to observe anything that even existed within the room.

He handled a paper that had rested upon a handcrafted table, tilting his head Kagerou began to mull over the questions.

Optional Survey

gaia_star How was Dorothy's performance?
A bit spastic, a lot of things needed in order to progress. But thorough none the less.
gaia_star Would you recommend her to anyone else?
Maybe a shorter version. It was up to ones own imagination to interpret if he meant her height or the way she conducted the rehabilitated process.
gaia_star On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being the least, how well would you say your memory rehabilitation process is going?
Around a 7, good, could be better.. needs more shiny things.

His answers seemed half hearted, just like the way he would speak. Atleast they were written nicely instead of just scribbled. A trait that probably derived from his interest in fancy and exquisite things being a Conquest Horseman and all. Kagerou finished looking around the room, it started to bore him as there was little to do here even with others coming and going. He wasn't one for a warm friendly interaction, his words often catching under his breath. Leaving from the white room he peeked into the hallway - not before grabbing a cellphone of course. A number of Famine garbed horsemen meandered through the hall.

"And you are?"

The words hung in the air as one of the horsemen had approached Kagerou, the Conquest horseman's face stuffing more into the fur that hugged his neck as his mouth became dry. He really did dread talking but curiosity got the best of him. Yet instead of replying with his name he had posed a question in return. Ignoring that no Dorthy System would ever show up to check up on the poor soul.

The famine horseman seemed hurried and as meek in responding to questions as Kagerou was, but there was still some information that he got out of the other. Kagerou pressed his lips together as the lab coat called him weak but then almost as quickly tried to back out of the notion. The man in red grabbing onto his own arm as he could very well feel he wasn't the most toned individual. But he had a brain atleast! Or atleast something that conveyed the process of thoughts and ideas. Getting all the information he could Kagerou proceeded to leave from the Rehab Center, fiddling with the cellphone that he had tucked away in his kimono. This hand then finding the key card he had also obtained. What floor should he go to?

Mial bristled a bit as he was questioned so very directly, though bit his tongue before actually answering. He was in a foul mood, though that wasn't this stallion's fault, and taking out his frustrations on him would be little help to anyone. "Nothing of importance, and nothing of the day before." He was frowning as he said, eyes on the other horseman that had wandered over as well, though a very familiar shade of green flashed in his periphery. Harper.

"I'm sorry, you will have to excuse me." It was curt, though incredibly polite for the reedy War stallion. He nodded to the both of them, touching fingers to his brow in a little solute as he darted around them and down the hall.

It was empty as he reached it, but he'd been so sure he'd seen her. A glance up showed numbers lit up about the elevator doors. Most of them stationary, though one had just flicked from 2 to 1. It had Mial rushing forward to smack his palm into one of the buttons, and as soon as a set of double doors opened he'd head in and mash the button to close the doors.

A moment later they slid open to show the lobby, and Mial wandered out into the large room. "Where is she?"

As a youth who functioned quite independently for the most part, it was interesting watching the interactions between the other two. Owl was very good at becoming a silent little shadow in his dark and dusty cowl, blinking with curiosity and amusement.

He nodded to Llydia, thoughts were a bit slower, a bit more sluggish than usual. Like a lizard trying to emerge from the shade, it's temperature too low for speedy motion. Perhaps that's why he hadn't yet registered how long Aric had been touching his head.

Slowly Owl frowned at the continued ruffling. Was Aric even more fuzzy-brained than the rest of them? Maybe, maybe not. The more he thought about it, the more he realized this was not exactly strange behaviour for the large Death guardian.

It wasn't until he heard the dry raspy voice of his most beneficial benefactor hissed from across the room that Owl finally pulled away from his companions. He gave Aric a little patpat on the arm, and Llydia a patpat on the head, and then trotted off to see what Nnif might have for him.

Big eyes peered expectantly as he crossed the floor, although he knew requests always came before the treats.

Kara nodded her head to Aran. The vote seemed to be quickly swaying to leaving and searching elsewhere, which didn't bother her. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Aran," she responded on reflex to his introduction, offering him a warm smile. She wasn't sure if it was rude to tug him into their conversation. It wasn't like they had answers either--did anyone?

Yildirim's responses and flourish was a delight, and his energy was refreshing in the gloom of the events surrounding them. It would be ideal if she could meet with him often--she needed someone to help energize her, to help bring that brightness in her life. Things that made the journey so much more interesting.

Though even Aran seemed to possess a level of his own energy, and his willingness to insert himself into their little group--not that this was remotely a problem--made her tension ease and smile grow. Solo was her usual way. But a group? Traveling with others, conversing, sharing information, even just sharing space? It was something she preferred.

Made things far more enjoyable.

She clapped her hands together as Yildirim began to head towards the exit, nodding her head and looking to Aran as she nodded towards the exit. "You're of course welcome to join us," she added, in case this wasn't made clear. Beginning to walk towards the door, she checked a pocket, finding her cell and key card for her room in place--though her brow furrowed. Just how did she know they'd be there or what they were?

A Famine Sage was stopped on their way out, and though she tried to get reasonable answers, the few they supplied was... troubling. Both in the lack of information and the sort of limited information given. The crystal was red? Everyone lost their memories?

She shot him a bristled look at being told she wasn't strong, but she didn't make a verbal comment. There was nothing else to argue or discuss, and with a whirling mind and troubled expression, she loaded into the elevator.

When Robert woke up, the first thing he realized was that his head hurt, very very much. The second thing he realized - as the Famine consultants began to try and explain things to him as slowly as possible and still managed to lose him - was that he'd lost a day of memory. This wasn't such a terrible loss, as he couldn't remember almost all of his life before this, except for the important parts. Who he was, who Mimsy was, who his children were, and what his goal in life was.

Did anything else matter?

Oh yes, one other thing. HE COULD FLY!

Satisfied that this was all the information he actually needed, he decided to let the powers that be take that last day from him, and saluted the Famine workers before hopping off to go find his family. It shouldn't be hard, after all. He just needed to follow the sounds of screaming. Oh, how he missed them already!

Before he could get out, someone handed him a paper and told him to fill out the 'optional' survey. He asked them why he was being forced to do it if it was so very 'optional', and was given no answer, just a pen.

He hated surveys. They felt like tests. He was terrible at tests.

How was Dorothy's performance, it asked? Well, she explained everything to him very well - and she didn't seem judgemental when he asked her to repeat it all, again.. and again.. and one more time to just to be sure. So he put a big plus sign next to the question. That meant it was great!

Would he recommend her to anyone else? Plus sign!

On a scale of one to ten, how well was his memory rehabilitation going? He didn't realize he was trying to rehabilitate it. He remembered everything that mattered. So this, too, got a great big plus sign! Well done, Dorothy!

He put the questionnaire down, and floated off to find his family.

Sorry, Owl, but Nnif appeared to have nothing to offer, at the moment, except for a surly look that was directed at anyone or anything that came near him, which was likely why so many were giving him a wide berth. [ Rehab Centre ]

Despite the comings and goings of various horseman, the rehabilitation centre was quiet. It was a sombre place, where near-silence was needed to aid in the recovery process. Most horseman knew better than to raise a din. Even when they needed to talk, they tried to keep their voices at an acceptable level. Most but not all.

“HEY! HEY!!” A hoarse voice shattered the quiet with all the subtlety of an explosive blast shattering a window. “LOOK OUT BELOW, EVERYBODY! GOT A FAMINE INCOMING! MOVE IT! MOVE THOSE FEET! SERIOUSLY, MOVE, MOVE, MOVE, MOVEMOVEMOVEMOVE...”

Suddenly a ragged figure slammed face first into the ground between Ilker, Elleran, and Mukui with the full, unrepentant force of gravity. For a moment they lay there motionless, except for the sporadic twitch of a wing. Then with a moan, they peeled themself off the floor and lurched upright.

Zircon took in a huge, loud gulp of air, as though he were using it to re-inflate his body. “Hoo boy!” he exclaimed, talking more to himself than anyone else. He pushed his goggles up onto his forehead. As he did, they revealed two stress circles around his eyes from the impact. “I didn't think I was going to make it, but I guess I lucked out, huh? Hey, it looks like you're still all here too!”
