Lafayette glared and bristled at the scoffing laugh, had unconsciously flexing into a fist. It was for a moment, the briefest of moments, that he remembered he was an arm down. It was an awkward reminder of his newly acquired handicap but also added to his rage. Damnit, just damnit! Mel’s remark… didn’t help any further and he found himself tensing to prevent a fist flying out.
"I ain’ no ********’ whacka!" He shouted, glaring daggers. How dare she! He wasn’t dumb! Or that dumb; how was he supposed to know better? Which should’ve been enough to apply to same logic to his pokemon but well… he wasn’t. He was too caught up in his emotions and embarrassment.
An eye twitched as Mel swept Noah up, the Dewott giving a chirp of surprise and wiggling uncomfortably from his position under his arm. He wasn’t sure how to feel about the save; still distraught that his trainer was upset but under the impression that she’d done it for his own good. He stared at Lafayette though as he growled again, shrinking back as the Aussie stepped in with as much of a looming threat presence he could. Clearly, Lafayette could tell she was protecting him and that just… made him angrier? There was clearly no reasoning right now.
"Wha’ yeh gonna ********’ do? Eh sheila?" The Aussie challenged. If she wanted to throw down, he'd throw down; one arm or not.

Mel's expression hardened. "Your reaction to something soft and squishy was 'squeeze it till it pops', Lala," she snapped flatly, sounding exceptionally stern and chiding. Clearly, she was taking no sympathy to his embarrassment, and didn't move an inch at the intimidation technique. She squared her own shoulders and stood to her full height, perhaps even lifting herself up a bit, and meeting his gaze. She stared hard, for a solid minute, considering her options, before finally, she smirked, and stepped back. "... Nothin'. Gonna let your own pokemon handle this one," she stated quite simply, suddenly more relaxed. She knew Z, and she knew she could count on him to read her mind even if he was in another trainer's position. Sure enough, the legendary released himself behind Lafayette. Even though he was a bit small for his species, he was still easily taller than the man, but simply knocked his head forward, to try and shove Lafayette onto the ground, before promptly rolling over him, and pinning him down. Of course, he didn't use his full weight -- even on the sand, that might have crushed a rib cage or two -- but he did glide over, and settle on top of him, carefully shifting his weight to never full rest on the man. He didn't give him much leeway, either, though, and at a solid six hundred pounds or so, he felt very anchored into this position.
Mel just smirked down at the man. "Gonna let you cool off a bit, Lala," Mel decided, ignoring the wide-eyed, horrified stare of her starter, "I'll come back with some water in a bit." She turned, and promptly strode off, turning her attention instead to the starter in her arms. "What d'you say to some ice cream, Noah love?" she queried. Kiwi was observing Lafayette and Z, but turned when Mel noticed, and paused to address it. "Kiwi, c'mon. You're welcome to join too, Cheri. Think they oughta have cotton candy or somethin', if you're interested," she remarked, before turning to continue. The cybunny promptly hopped along after, storing the series of events in its memory banks, for later analysis.

The Aussie didn’t respond; mostly because he didn’t know how too. Instead he maintained the healthy dagger-ed glare, noting that Mel was sizing up to face off as well. In any other situation, he’d have been smirking in delight; not everyone had the balls (figuratively) to square up and face a challenge and he wasn’t one to not appreciate it. In crowds of cowards, it was nice to find someone willing to play the hero.
Or the charlatan given what happened next. Lafayette was caught off guard as Mel suddenly backed off with a smirk, face contorting in confusion at her words. His… own pokemon? What was she talking about? If any of them had the balls to go turn coat on him in this moment then it was going to be a bloody fight. None of them had the gall, they knew better-
Except the one that really wasn’t his; the one he’d conveniently received earlier and forgotten about until now. The next thing he knew, Lafayette was yelping and slamming into the ground and then scrambling violently as the Zygarde positioned itself to pin him down. What the hell?! It took the stunned blonde a moment to comprehend what had happened before he started to violently thrash about.
"THE ********> He shouted, wincing and scrambling to try and get up only to find that it was impossible. Was this thing seriously sitting on him? Really?! His face went red again and he winced as the throbbing returned, but that just fueled his fire to try and break free.
The Aussie only paused briefly as Mel explained her plan. She was leaving him to cool off? Really? That’s what this was? She was leaving him here with a giant rock slug sitting on him? What the absolute f-"Bloodeh hell sheila! This ain’ ********; fair!" He lashed out, scrambling and trying to pull himself out from under the legendary. Once more he felt at a distinct disadvantage with just one arm and the most he was achieving is flinging sand into his face and nearly blinding himself. Stopping only a moment, he glared after Mel as she walked away, taking Noah with her. Wow, really? REALLY? Lafayette snapped, practically screaming obscenities at this point though in a language that was not his normal strine, all while still trying to drag himself out from under Z.
Noah watched in stunned horror as Z pinned down Lafayette and then the man exploded. This was not at all what he was expecting and at this point, he was terribly conflicted on how to feel. When Mel addressed him about… ice cream? … he gave her a worried look, glancing back and forth between her and Lafayette. What was going on?! "De…. Wott?" He replied uncertainly, paw raising to scratch the side of his head.
Cheri, who had remained a bit behind to observe the scenario, perked a bit as Mel spoke. She stared at Z and the thrashing Aussie a moment before her head immediately whipped around to stare at Mel. Her expression didn’t change a lick but clearly, the magical words had been said and without hesitation, she was toddling after the crew towards the promise of sweets.

Honestly, Mel did not feel bad as she sashayed away, not even as Lafayette seemed to lose coherency. At his complaint, she waved a hand back over her shoulder. "I coulda cuffed ya, but I wouldn' want your muscles crampin' up all nasty, Lala," she called back casually, and from there, seemed to tune out the string of curses aimed at her. Z seemed perfectly content, and even settled in, observing his surroundings peaceably, and utterly unmoved by the Aussie's protests.
Mel took the pokemon to the ice cream shop at a leisurely pace, and allowed Cheri to taste the ones she wanted (and tipped the vendors with an apology at just how many that was). She got Noah an especially large serving, and let Kiwi sit in her lap while she casually helped herself to a small sundae, before letting Lucy finish it off. From there, she wandered around with the pokemon a bit, perusing shops, and finally buying a bottled water-- and another small ice cream cone for herself, before heading to Lafayette. Because she really wanted to just rub this in his face. He was being an absolute idiot.
She strolled up, casually, having let Noah back on the ground, with Kiwi in her free arm as she licked her ice cream, and tapped the water bottle against her hip. "Feeling any better, Lala?" she asked evenly, looking down at the (presumably) disgruntled man.

Rage going up at the comment, Lafayette continued in his struggles and cursing even as Mel left him there on the beach. Eventually he directed his cursing at the Zygarde pinning him down as he squirmed and smashed a fist into the creature with some impression t would get him off quicker. He went from french to strine and then at times, back to french before eventually stopping in his yelling all together; it was wasting energy and it was clear that Z didn’t care and there were a few passing tourists who looked rather startled by the commotion. Not that it seemed to incline them to help so… ******** them.
Noah and Cheri accompanied Mel; the Dewott enjoying his treat (though hesitantly at first with the guilt still present) while Cheri proceeded to sample every ice cream flavor that was available and then twice just for confirmation and then some a third time for safety measures. Eventually she got herself a little cup of something called “Cheri-Berry Dynamite” and the ice cream people were probably grateful for this, even with the pleasant tip.
They tailed with her as she shopped and browsed and followed right back to the beach where a semi-exhausted Lafayette was well… still pinned. He spent the time (what was it… almost an hour?) struggling, fighting, digging, and using every other technique he could think to use to try and free himself to no avail. Okay so… he’d have to do some training before he could wrestle Z down, that much was certain. He was heaving for air at this point; face still hurting and now tired from struggling against the 600-pound weight. His head turned just enough so he could look up at Mel and crew as he was addressed. ‘Disgruntled’ was putting it lightly and his gaze narrowed as he muttered some curse under his breath in response to the question. If it wasn’t apparent, no, he wasn’t feeling any better. Tired? Sure. Better? Nope.

Mel tilted her head, giving him a patient, expectant look, but when it was clear she wasn't getting anything more than that, she crouched down, resting her arms on her knees, but keeping her ice cream from falling. "Don't suppose you're willing to admit you overreacted a bit?" she added, patiently. Z gave a low rumble and turned his head, looking curious at the ice cream. She held it up to him without adjusting her focus, letting the legendary open his maw, and take a surprisingly small, curious taste, while her gaze remained on Lafayette. Of course, the shift didn't exactly do anything for the Aussie; the legendary's movement might have freed his shoulders, a little, but not at all enough to push himself up or get free. And Z clearly had no intention of changing that.

Lafayette’s gaze shifted between the crew, first to Mel and her ice cream, then to the pokemon (with a particular ‘You traitorous scum’ kind of expression crossing his as he did) before finally focusing back on the woman. He gave a little grunt as Z shifted and wiggled a little to test if he could escape. No go.
So, he was just lying there staring. He tried to make a nasty hateful face, but flinched from the pain (his vision was starting to blur from the aching) and was left with a stupid twist of pain and peeved.
"…. ********’ no." He remarked curtly and promptly attempted to wiggle free again to free himself. There was no way in the distortion world hell that he was going to admit to something like that. Even if he was going to be crushed alive for it. He felt right; he was right and damnit that was that! He stopped again, narrowing a mix-matched gaze at Mel again. "Yeh goin’ ta get this bloodeh slug off me or wot?" It was hard to ask that without getting salty…

That was pretty much to be expected, though Mel sighed a bit, releasing her hand on the ice cream as Z finished it off for her. "Is that because you don't think you overreacted, or because you're too proud to admit it?" she queried evenly, folding her arms on her knees as she balanced on the balls of her feet. She scoffed some at the question, lifting her shoulders in a clearly sarcastic sort of short laugh. she replied, before bringing the water bottle around, "Now, hold still, or this'll hurt." She gave him that simple instruction, before gently bringing the water bottle towards his face, to press against the welt between his eyes. It looked pretty bad -- he looked pretty bad -- but she felt no sympathy. This whole thing was his fault, after all.
She kept the water bottle still, till he grabbed it himself, however long that took, before withdrawing her hand, and giving him a patient, almost sympathetic look. Really, she was going to have to find another way to ge tthrough to him, if he kept this up.

Lafayette just stared. What kind of question was that? He took an honest moment to mull over the options and then promptly decided that neither of them were correct. He didn’t do this pride bull even though, really, that was a lie and he still didn’t think it was much of an overreaction.

Mel visibly rolled her eyes at the stubborn, flat, uninformative response. Yeah, well, that was mature. But, she didn't really expect 'mature' here. She gave him a bit of a look when he seemed to appreciate the water, like, "Now doesn't that feel nice?" but didn't say anything. She kept her arms folded on her knees, but sighed when he finally said something a bit more coherent. She moved, sitting down, smoothing her skirt, and then plucking Kiwi up off the sand to place in her lap, one hand moving to support her as she sat with her legs bent to one side, and the other resting on the rabbot.
"Really? So, what exactly are you so angry about, then? I mean, 'sides from Z sittin' on you," she started calmly. She was determined to get somewhere with this. And if she didn't.... eh, he could bake a bit longer. He wasn't that tan yet. And she heard sand made a great bed.

Mel was going to go ahead and ignore that, for the time being. She'd get back to that, maybe, if it actually became relevant. For now, it just felt like a bitter remark. She tilted her head, expression never changing throughout his reaction. "It did what it could, Lala," she explained, "It didn't seem to have a lot of options. And for all it knew, you might have been about to squeeze even harder, had it not." She sighed. "And it didn't exactly kill you, either," she pointed out, refraining from adding 'Yet here you are, throwing a fit like a child'. That probably wouldn't have helped.
And speaking of that.... She sighed, looking off to the side. "Look, I'm sorry I laughed. That probably didn't help," she continued, bringing her gaze back to him. "I really didn't mean to. But you know Noah didn't mean anything by that, and I don't think it's fair to get furious at him for not knowing that the thing he brought you was a pokemon that would punch you should you happen to squeeze it. He's not a psychic type, and last I checked, dewott didn't have Foresight," she added, giving him a bit of a meaningful look. She was trying very hard not to be patronizing, to just explain, but.... she wasn't sure how Lala would take it. He still seemed pretty wound up. He was probably just going to snap at her some more, much as she tried hard to keep her tone as sincere as she could.

The frown hadn’t faded during the interaction, nor did he miss that Mel didn’t address his own comment about Z sitting on him. He followed along as she explained why the Pyukumuku might’ve attacked and how he was partially to blame still with the actions he'd gone through. Still though, he wasn't buying it and made a face showing as much; he seemed honestly agitated in fact with this explanation.
"Didn’ do nothin’ to those ********’ Sharpies either," he muttered and for a moment he looked visibly upset. So, he had to wait until things killed him to be justified in his anger? That was good to know, he’d wade out into the water again and let the Sharpedos finish the job. Being reminded of that was enough to make him not regret at all what he’d done, and regret not doing more. Maybe he should do more while he had the chance; evidently this was still bothering him and it showed.
Lafayette eyed Mel as she apologized for laughing earlier, frown lightening just a bit. She seemed sincere enough about it, though he wiggled uncomfortably and shot a glare up at Z. Was this thing ever getting off? He really wished it would. "Yeh well…," there was really no arguing her point and a quick glance at Noah well… he could tell the Dewott felt down about it all; guilty probably. Which as much as Lafayette wanted to say ‘good, you should feel bad’ he knew (sort of) that Noah wasn’t the type to do things on purpose. Not if he could help it.
Lafayette went quiet on that, relaxing a bit, and looking like he was doing some thinking. Horribly conflicted thinking; because even as he noted that Mel was … kind of right, stubborn pride wasn’t going to have him admitting he was in the wrong. Because he still didn’t feel he was. Which made this all the harder to get through. He could just say ‘sorry’ and be done with it but… He was not doing that.
