Babylon

"No," said Babylon to the page at his side. "Not the Code." The Code would have no reason to take this form and feign ignorance like this. The Code was omniscient. When it had awoken, it had had no need to ask them for the cliff notes version of the last thousand years... or whatever. "Something ancient and powerful... but not the Code."

Raising his voice, he addressed the shadowy figure - "Sir, Babylon Knight of Mercury at your humble service. How long have you been gone, so we know where to start? And where have you been?"

Respectful listening. Thoughtful questions. That was what he'd learned from the Code.

"Truthfully," he added, still to the ancient creature, "We serve our own interests. Whatever banner motivates our continued survival - but they are all different names for Order. Our ultimate goal is to restore balance to the universe, to reach dynamic equilibrium with Chaos."

Fancy words. He'd listened well - but Babylon knew he had no authority here. He'd no sooner finished speaking than he expected someone to contradict him.

Hvergelmir Knight of the Cosmos, standing up front next to Castor

Even with a knight's speed, it took some time to cross the city on foot. Longer still, because she'd had to extract herself from a conversation with a Negaverse agent -- but eventually, and with an unusual lack of difficulty, she'd made her way to the source of so much strange auric fluctuation. It seemed to be centered on a figure -- a man? -- in a cloak, and the pounding energy of so many senshi and knights around him (?), some riding the swell of Royal energy.

It was strange, to say the least.

As the figure spoke, Hvergelmir made her way through the scattered crowds of people. Babylon was here, and her normal instinct was to go and stand next to him, to assess the situation together -- but instead, she brushed her fingers against his shoulder in passing, and cast him a look that said they would catch up later, and then kept moving.

There was a better place to be. After all, the Prince of Hail was here.

Although there seemed to be little purpose in trying to address the cloaked figure over the intonations of the crowds, Hvergelmir took a place near the front, standing just next to Castor. Close enough to reach out and touch an arm, or a wing, if she needed to.

Close enough to intervene. Close enough to summon Eikthyrnir and rip the Prince of Hail clean across the city in an instant if he made the wrong move and threatened everyone's safety.

Or -- conversely -- close enough to pull one powerful Royal away from the line of fire if the cloaked stranger did.

The thumb of her left hand was subtly turned inward toward her hand, hovering just over the opal-topped ring that housed her summons. She glanced at Castor briefly -- then waited, listening.

Scylla, Kraken (late arrival, rudely stuffing her butt through the crowd as politely as possible)

The Negaverse agent that she had been following had slipped away from her, and even the Ashen Lilac Crystal had been unable to help her in her pursuit. Scylla's head was thumped against a wall in irritation when the energy signal had come. A beacon, of sorts, so strong and so... odd. So she followed it, unsure of what danger she was walking into. But wasn't that the long and short of it, lately? Every breath was a danger.

When she arrived, there was already a crowd. Being short, Scylla took advantage, trying to squeeze around and weave through the taller people. (Lucky taller people.) She didn't know almost anyone here- she spent too much time out of the city and out of the country, but it seemed that the basis of the Order side hadn't much changed. If she wasn't so invested... The necklace from Andromache's tomb burned at her throat, and the Ashen Lilac crystal hummed, dangling from a clumsily-made bracelet at her wrist; the two clanked together as she gripped the jewel, eyeing the stranger.

The stranger rose, un-hunching, eyes glowing. And for a while it watched, and Scylla watched in return, ignoring the waves of voices and the questions being thrown at the figure. Her power stirred under her skin, as it always seemed to, the more that Scylla came back to life and repair, impatient for use. At last the figure spoke and she started, listening to the gravelly disused voice, ears almost twitching at the accent. A male, then, unless it was a woman with a very deep voice. She was leaning towards male. He was a professional speaker, it seemed, or had been preparing this speech for a very long time, and not native. The words were too careful, the sentences too shortly structured. There was a contraction that struck out oddly to her- I won't waste your time., when there were other places he elected not to contract- But perhaps his linguistic choices weren't the point.

His questions were, and her lips curled wryly at them. It was not derision, for many of the questions had been asked before. And the answers were varied, and as individually dependent as a few others seemed to be already indicating. There were still more murmuring their own inquiries to him, and Scylla was unable to hear those. He might be able to- who knew?

It was both reassuring and disheartening to feel that the White Moon was as fragmented as it ever was. At least the Blood Moon had been united under a leader, organized... But perhaps that was what had led to Ares' corruption. Pride, and greed for battle. It was something Scylla had thought about far too much. Her own mistakes, and the loss of so many she had loved and held dear, and how she had driven away the rest in her grief. Still, those regrets were not the purpose here. The fragmentation and separate goals of the Court was not, either. At least, so far, they were only snipping at each other. There was no throat-cutting or lifelong vendettas being sworn.

What had he expected to see, when he came here? What did he remember? He had spent so much time planning, yet the world had changed- where had he been planning, to have not seen it? And what had he missed? Oh- she hoped that if they chose to educate him, she got to tell him about the 20th century and Rock'n'Roll. (Not that it had anything at all to do with saving the world, but she would get a kick out of introducing a stranger from the past to David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, and Queen.) Who they served, and what their goal was- those were things that no one could answer as a whole. What he had missed depended on so very much- though he had shaken his head right after, so perhaps that question was unimportant.

He offered information, but how out of date was it? Or was that information related to powers? So many questions, so many ways this could go wrong. And yet, Scylla was expendable. So what did it hurt her to open her mind to the possibility that for once, for the first time ever, something might go right? She gripped her right elbow with her left hand, letting the gem fall, and her fingers instead twisted with her crystal, thoughtfully gazing at the stranger. She could speak, but her voice would, surely, be lost in the crowd. It usually was- she was no one important, and there were still those who remembered the mistakes she had made as part of the Blood Moon Court, and her association with the parallels. Even those who eyed her unusually colored and shaped eternal 'wings' as a sign of corruption- that opinion had been a surprise!

Instead, she nodded simple, quiet acquiescence to the stranger's hope and simple appeal for alliance and the sharing of information. An expression of interest, a promise of nothing. She would listen, and she would watch, and would be willing to share as she could, should it be information that could be harmless. She could even offer him a certain level of hospitality. He said he couldn't walk unnoticed, but there were always things to do about that while he attempted to regain his bearings. Scylla, too, had questions that answers would be expected to.

As she knew- she was expendable. If it was betrayal, well- then they would know, at minimal cost.

Conchordia page of Chronos

At the very edge of the group, was Conchordia, who, if there had been a wall, was busy clinging to it.

She had been near enough by when the strange feeling had overwhelmed her, and even though she'd paused for a long moment to debate the safety of following it, had peered curiously at the situation from early on. If she could do nothing else.. atleast perhaps she could be here to witness this.. incase the Zodiacs or other Chronos knights hadn't noticed and weren't around. However as people filtered in arriving she'd let herself creep back, to always remain on the edges.

When the man with the strange aura spoke she watched with soft curiousity, taking note of every word and filing it away in the back of her head to relay if necessary. An ally? He was so strong... having a strong ally was a good thing. But then... he could have also be lying, trying to trick them into something. Conchordia was just glad that she could observe and that others would do the talking for her.

Sailor Chibi Florentina

Chibi Florentina was about as inexperienced as they came. Ida had definitely given her some pointers and guidance, that was in fact why she knew it was safe to follow the aura she felt pulsing from afar. But when it came to actually knowing or meeting other members of the powered variety she was sorely lacking.

The scene she wandered in upon was complete chaos. So many people, but most of them much taller than the teeny tiny little senshi. As she drew near she soon found herself lost in a sea of knights and senshi, her eyes wide and curious. Wandering through she was polite, offering 'excuses mes' as she weaved past legs looking for someone who wasn't already busy and talking (because she knew better than to try and interupt talking adults!). There were just so many people! And so many pretty outfits! It was like stepping into a movie or fairytale.

Teide is following Hvergelmir to stand by Castor

Trailing behind Hvergelmir like some kind of pastel shadow was Teide Knight of the Cosmos, who still viewed herself as some kind of padawan learner to the older girl despite being full-rank herself. Teide didn't mind that Hvergelmir had made a beeline for Castor upon their arrival - she rather liked Castor, even if he'd scared the bejeesus out of her during her purification. More, she was uncomfortable with how close to the front they were - and to the strange man. Man?

She had a suspicion that he wasn't human. The eyes were all wrong. Like Voldemort.

She didn't like his aura, either.

It wasn't Chaos, dark and loamy, tinged with the iron smell of blood, sharp with the suggestion of ragged corners and filed teeth. It wasn't Order, either, warm like a blanket fresh from the dryer on a cold night, sweet like fresh bread but never cloying, the comfort of kind calling to kind.

No. He was neither. He was off, the medicinal smell of trying to cover up rot.

"I don't like this," she whispered to Hvergelmir. "He doesn't feel right."

Slievenamon, Page of Neptune

Slieve chuckled at the romantic displays before nodding her head at Phact. "Thanks so much for the offer," she said. She listened to the senshi of doves' explanation of the war and dipped her chin again in understanding. She still had some trouble trying to wrap her head around everything, but she wasn't going to admit that. With time, she'd find out what she needed to know.

She offered a wave to Havasu Falls. "Nice to meet you, I'm Slievenamon, Page of Neptune," she said.

Sailor Cadmus, Chibi Senshi of Cranberries

Cadmus took the chance to look around. He hadn't really taken into account just how many people were there. All on the side of good. The fact it was just a fraction of all of them hadn't registered in the thirteen year old's mind yet. He was caught off guard by the poke in his side and made a small, slappy motion in Fornax's direction with a laugh.

"That's a very, very good point," Cadmus said with a grin. "And I wouldn't have met a good student, haha!" His smile drew to a small O. "A god? There are such people?" The chibi didn't think the idea was too far-fetched, considering how they were capable of literal magic. His eyes focused on the winged prince in the distance who he thought the closest to a god. To think the cloaked figure was more than that shook his insides a little, but also filled him with determination. "That would be uber cool! If that's the case, I would love to learn anything he has to teach. B-but that is true... The more powerful you are, the more you're feared." That made the chibi think. Maybe he wasn't that strong after all if he wasn't as scary as he sounded?

Thraen, Eternal of Gardens

The waving of good and fundamental questions that would show the very trust the being was declaiming was a warning bell- it was a redirection tactic. And the voice had too much honey in it. Knowing a who or what you are, as part of an introduction is not only courtesy, but necessary if you want petitions of any Others. Yet this one skips it? Why. Not even a name, false or otherwise given. At least Wolframite gave an alias as the white phoenix. 'Who do we serve' is of the same vein. We are found lacking then? An announcement given only to that one, and preferring to treat with them?

The voice from his side was impressive as well. Scholomance had found some way through his burgeoning panic to calm, speak and think. A good sign. The other words coming out were equally good- returning to the stepped over questions circuitously. If you demand information out of trust from us, then give it forth- your time and date. And some information may come out more with it by necessity.

There were more still arriving. Some speaking. There was Babylon, Hvergelmir. An eternal he didn't know. Another knight. Many upon many. Was the geas still active, then? Or a function of so many in one spot?

The purposeful 'mystery' smacks of being evil. Either a set up in the making, or asking for an alliance. Like Wolframite. Finally, Thraen spoke in volume courteous but enough to cross a lecture hall to reach all, and especially the cloaked figure. "A Petitioner (Cloaked Figure) begins trust to prove faith."

Cuán Oileán, Guardian Cat
Sailor Chariklo, Eternal Senshi of Seagulls
Xibalba, Page of Mars

The last thing Chariklo had wanted to do was feel a compulsion to trace down a weird aura. But even as she'd rejected the idea of doing so in favor of something more productive, like basket weaving, she'd found herself following the call, unable to resist. Along the way, she'd managed to pick up company. But this was company that she didn't mind.

Pausing only long enough to allow Cuán Oileán to leap into her arms and perch across her shoulders, the pair found the source of the call soon enough. The sight of so many senshi and Knights made her understandably nervous as her brain chose that moment to recount every instance she knew of where a large gathering of Order's fighters had resulted in an ambush. She would have turned around right then and walked away, but the call was too strong. Sighing and absently reaching up to skritch the cat's chin (and earning a purr that resembled a broken motor), she made her way through the small crowd.

"I don't like this, Cuán," she muttered. "We should just go home and forget about this."

"Oh no, dearheart, you don't mean that," that cat's voice was soft, soothing. "We must stay informed. If you're feeling unnerved, just find someone you know and stick by them."

Find someone she knew? Easy enough in this crowd. Finding people that she knew wasn't the problem. It was finding people that she knew and wasn't completely ashamed to show her face around. A quick glance told her that Hver was there, but no, she was up at the front and just... no. Another glance provided a much more favorable option. Moving quietly into Babylon's shadow, she sighed softly and tried to sift through the many voices and questions being tossed around.

She felt Cuán rear up on her shoulder and place a delicate paw against the side of her head to balance herself. Great, she thought. I have a parrot cat. Still, she knew better than to fidget or try or catch the cat's attention. Cuán's lamplike green eyes were fastened on the stranger, obviously fascinated. Chariklo was equally fascinated and very, very confused. This stranger's aura wasn't like anything she'd ever felt. And the tail end of his words was more than enough to make her cautious.

Just what was going on here?

-------------------------------

Xibalba hadn't felt any desire to not answer whatever was calling. After all, this was something similar to the Code on Olympus. Only, as far as he could tell, it wasn't the Code.

This was something different.

And different sometimes meant dangerous. Which, of course, meant that he needed to be there and see whatever it was for himself. And when he got to where everyone had decided to congregate around a hooded stranger, Xibalba allowed himself a slight smile. No, this wasn't the Code. Not unless it had learned how to people. Which he doubted.

Stalking around the edges of the crowd, the tall, burly page decided that he wanted to be closer to the center of things and began to gently push his way through. He would have gone all the way up to the front pf the class had he not spied a blonde that he knew very well. Adjusting course, he pushed his way to Chariklo's side and managed to loom just threateningly enough to make sure no one got the bright idea to jostle her.

Placing a hand on her free shoulder, he smiled encouragingly as she looked around in surprise. While her smile wasn't quite as confident as he would have liked, it was still a smile. Leaning slightly, he whispered, "Anythin' interestin'?"

"Not sure. It.. he? wants an alliance. But I can't tell what he is. Not like us, that much I can tell."

Not a senshi or a knight? Xibalba considered that as he gave Cuán's tail tip a playful tweak and earned an annoyed hiss. Well, they wouldn't learn anything if he kept distracting them. So he settled in as a comforting, solid presence at Chariklo's back and did his best to understand even a fraction of what was going on.

Hvergelmir Knight of the Cosmos, standing near the front between Teide and Castor

It was a difficult thing, in some ways, to be in a group. Most of what Hvergelmir did was done alone. She didn't ask anyone else to walk in the cage with the lion -- just herself. Of all the risks she put on others, it was the only one she was used to assuming for herself and only herself.

If this was dangerous, it was dangerous for everyone here -- not just her. And she couldn't exactly ask the rest of them to leave. What made Hvergelmir any more qualified to represent them all than anyone else was?

Castor was wrong. She was not a leader.

She was also, though, not someone who was inclined to ever tell someone to ignore their instincts entirely. Hvergelmir believed in the principle of the gift of fear -- and that if Teide felt unsafe, she ought to be encouraged to feel that there was no shame in heeding her mind's warnings.

"Caution is a wise thing," she said gently to her fellow knight. "We'll try to learn what we can here -- but safely. It takes bravery to find the balance between hardening our hearts and ignoring our fears."

Sailor Lacrimosa

He was placing trust in them? It was pretty ironic because she was sure so many of them believed the opposite as well. And really she wanted to immediate go on guard with such words and yet...

Keeping Inari close to her, hand still around her wrist, Lacrimosa had turned fully to be face to (hopefully?) face with him again.

"I would think, becoming allies, depends on what full transpires here tonight," she replied, voice ever as soft and compassionate. Even here she could not be anything but who she was. Which was fine, if need be she'd show that she wasn't a push over.

"And it certainly seems as if you have been gone for a lot longer then you realize. Than maybe we can comprehend. Our goals vary, our allegiances are much the same. While we all are of the same side and our goal is peace, one way or another..."

Asking such a blanket, open question to a group as varied as them was likely not the best course? She could not speak for others but she knew that not everyone would share her own goals. Peace among the two opposing factions however it had to happen, be it the total conversion of Chaos to Order or an understanding of sorts.

Talking cats... Talking cats were new.

Sintashta looked down at the feline, silent for a moment.

"Ah, hello.." He said finally, after clearing his throat.

Sintashta wasn't sure what else to say to a cat, but then his attention was again divided when he sensed something, someone, and he couldn't describe the feeling. It was strong, yet felt more meaningful to him than the others. He looked around, despite his eyes did not know what they were looking for. Realizing this, he looked back to the cat. Then to the being. Then the crowd again.

Princess Polaris

Amid her surveying of the crowd and situation a certain cloak caught her eye, offering a moment's pause as her crystal laden wings shuffled a bit subconciously. Blue and fur wasn't necessarily a dead giveaway, she had seen knights of Mercury with similar accents, but the design and shape that covered the cloak... It was almost certainly one of hers. And one she did not recognize, because she was also pretty sure it was not simply that Beringa had upgraded to squire - competent as he seemed. And despite herself she couldn't simply ignore it, an amused smile working it's way across her lips as she tiptoed through the crowd, trying very hard not to accidentally take out anyone with her bulky wings.

Sure she had, possibly more important(?), things she should be doing at the moment - though Castor seemed poised in a good position which was comforting. But god help her mothering tendencies, and simple girlish excitement at the prospect of yet another Polarian knight in her midst.

"Well hello there." She offered in a bemused singsong, as her fingers gently tapped the back of Stonehenge's shoulder. The softest of smirks rested on her face, like someone surprising an old friend, though obviously neither had ever seen the other before. Atleast in this lifetime.

There seemed to be so much going on all at once, but Nirvana six what he could to keep focused. He gave a gentle nod to Sabine and the other young page at her side. If nothing else he could be cordial.

He was about to speak once more to Phact when she was lifted and spun away from him. In confusion, he cocked his head, even as a smile formed in his lips. So, she had someone to protect her. This was a blessing, even if it meant that he would need to back off.

"A pleasure, Havasu. Phact had been a kind guide for me in the ways of this war. I am glad i am meeting the one that fills her heart with joy." Even as he spoke the words, they did not seem to reach his eyes. He did his best and wad only ask the more grateful when the hooded figure began to speak.

A proposition? An alliance? Things like this to be offered so very soon, even before knowing exactly who this man was, was brazen to say the least. He took it upon himself to add to Phact's words "We serve The Code, or some personal representation of it. Mussels i hips to the code of old. Protecting those that need it, and holding true to kindness and chicory l chivalry where due."

He took a gentle bow to the figure, his eyes meeting his wirh a strong resolve. "Nirvana, page of Pluto. I keep the balance where i can."

There were so many people.

Ganymede quickly lost track of them all. She wasn't necessarily ignoring them, it was just that it was hard to keep them all separated from one another in her head, even the faces that were familiar to her. The group around her grew. Some brought attention to her Princess form (though she did that well enough on her own by taking the form to begin with, she supposed). Suddenly she felt as if she were standing in the middle of something she wasn't fully prepared for.

She showed a strained smile to Chaldene and Themiscrya, not displeased to see them so much as she was overwhelmed by the number of Senshi and Knights collecting. She hoped they weren't put off by it. Ganymede could hear bits of conversations. Some questioned the safety of gathering together in such large numbers. She was concerned about that as well and almost powered down to Eternal again, but her caution in dealing with this mysterious figure won out.

Gevaudan came to stand beside Europa. Ganymede tried for another smile but felt self-conscious and failed. She wanted to look competent among the growing crowd but had spent so long feeling incompetent that it was difficult to even fake it. She had no confidence in taking the lead and didn't think she was meant to. She was just another Senshi among the masses who happened to have a little extra power at her disposal.

Ganymede grabbed onto Valhalla's arm for the extra stability. She took a breath and tried to settle her nerves, but when the figure finally spoke she felt as if her efforts had been made in vain.

He did not offer an explanation as to who he was, why he felt so different, or how he'd come to be there. It grated on Ganymede's frayed nerves. She wanted answers from him, not questions to answer herself.

You're the stranger here,” she said to the figure. “We have no obligation to answer you when you won't even answer us. We deserve an explanation.”

It annoyed her that people were giving him the responses and the information he wanted when they didn't even know if he could be trusted. One would have thought they would have learned not to have so much blind faith in someone who's identity they did not even know.

“Look at them just... giving him what he wants when they don't even know him,” she hissed to those around her. “What a bunch of idiots. It's like someone says 'I come in peace' and they automatically believe them because it's what they want to hear, like no one could possibly be capable of deception and lies.”

Glitnir, Knight of Mars

Glitnir was quite intrigued by the notion of a proposal, but also by the figure's questions. He wanted to hear this mystery man out, and perhaps answering his questions (though he had been beaten to it multiple times over) would open the way for further negotiations. It might also start him off on the right foot towards becoming a proper guide, if not exactly in a conventional way. "As some of the others have said, our 'masters' and goals are wide and varied. I think most of us can agree, though, that Chaotic forces are our enemy, or at least the Negaverse is. As for what you've missed... I think it'd take more time than we all have to give you a full history lesson of however many years you've missed, but if you look around, you can at least see the surface changes, right?"

The Space Cauldron
Sadachbia also speaks to him below!

Eternal Sailor Megrez, Sailor Sadachbia

Sadachbia perked up and leaned in, trying to absorb the mysterious figure's every word. Somehow, the man's mention of trust particularly struck a chord with her; he barely knew the faces of the current forces of Order, and yet he sought an alliance with them. "It's kind of flattering that you want to put all that trust in us, but what I'd really like to hear is your proposal. It sounds like you've got something really big in the works for us, and we kind of have to hear it before we can say yes or no. Everyone else is trying to answer your questions, so maybe you should answer some of ours, right?"

Megrez gave Sadachbia a nudge. "Don't be rude to mystery men," she said, before scanning the crowd. As she did, she caught sight of Elpis, and shot a wave back at her. When the Senshi of Metal spoke, she couldn't help but smile a little inside at how noble that girl's intentions were. Stay gold, Ponyboy. It would be really sad if something happened to tarnish that spirit.

Super Sailor Cor Caroli

Cor Caroli had kind of been farting around, watching Fornax go about his business and periodically scanning the crowd. He did spot Elpis waving at him, and he waved back with a goofy grin. He needed to take her to that cafe he'd found on his wanderings, for sure. Meanwhile, closer to him, Fornax seemed to be doing well, despite his initial nervousness. "Looks like you're hitting it off," he said to Fornax, clapping a hand on his shoulder. "You sound like a smart cookie, kid," he said to Cadmus. "Maybe for us less experienced folks, it would be best to just listen and pick up what we can and let the stronger folks do the talking."

Sailor Porrima

Porrima couldn't help but feel a little awe at the apparent ease with which Elpis stated her objectives. Surely, it came with experience, as Porrima still had no idea what she was doing but clobbering the occasional agent or youma. "Great job, Senpai," she said with a joking twist to her smile as she let her inner weeb out for a second. "No, really. You make it sound so cool." It was nice to have someone better at the senshi thing to do do the talking for her; she was more of the listen and learn type, and it seemed that she was going to have a lot of learning to do from this event alone.
