Nyiim- post 11

Nyiim paused. The ranged fighters were already gathering. Surely if they could reach the battle, Syqvara's would too. If she was nervous, though?

"Come with me," he assured her, moving to the front of the group. "We'll be moving as we fight as it is. Begin here. I can't say it gets easier as you go, but you will grow more accustomed to it." He smiled, but there was a great sadness there. So young and afraid, thrown into battle. "Stay with others, if it makes you more comfortable. Survival is key. To defeat them would be a wonderful addition, but at least we need to survive today."

Padma: Post 3
Padma wasn't surprised once Irrohna left. She took a breath to steady herself, watching her father pace in the grass beyond the tents, watching the front lines carefully. He trusted her to handle what first aid needed to be done - but she'd need to send someone, if not go herself, if healing needed to be done. Nodding at this realization, Padma continued her work - tugging the heavy bags off the two aldabuck, and sparing a moment to give them water, before she heaved the satchels inside.

Once inside, she hurriedly unpacked the plants, separating them into small piles that could be cut or crushed into balms. Some thick roots needed to be mixed with vials of sap and water into potions that fought infection. Clearing out what bags she could, Padma gestured to whoever had a care to lend aid, motioning around the cluttered insides of her father's tent. "If someone could help me clear space, we need to have places to put the injured when they come in. ...Probably." With Uquin outside, Padma could only rely on what he normally did when patients came in to their home back in Yera as reference.

Dris'rynne 7

"Allow me to be the first to say this is going no where fast." Dris'rynne shouldered her wrap, and tied it off around her shoulders as a shawl. It only served to make the rather petite woman all the smaller, and seemingly out of place among the warriors.

"I'm staying near the healers to offer support. It's your call as to where your going, but whatever you do...stay safe." Even if she hadn't known the hybrid long, Dris'rynne had no desire to see her maimed. Looking back to the growing hoard of Alkidike only served to harden the lead in her gut. Just go home, you big crazy bugs.

Pointing to the front line, Dris'rynne had to groan, "I wish some of them would step back too. They're too young and will likely only get themselves killed." Of course in her wide sweep of the younger warriors Callum was involved. He looked sturdy enough holding his blade, but he was too skinny for her liking. The boy wouldn't last.

Callum 10

Pride should never have been the driving force keeping the Alkidike advancing on Sauti. It was ridiculous now that both sides were about to come to war over a land that was never theirs to begin with. Callum couldn't wrap his mind around it; Sauti was neither sacred to them, nor was it bountiful in resources. What could they possibly want here?

"...are you listening to me, kid? I said up front!"

Callum snapped to attention and looked tot he older Matori man as he spoke to him. How long had he been standing there? Long enough for him to get irritated, it seemed. He didn't need to be told twice. The lithe swordsman moved to the front with all of the other close combat fighters, and felt himself out classed in every way. Even those younger than himself were more muscled, but he had more than enough drive to make up for it. Even if his strikes were the most powerful, they would be fast. They had to be; else he would lose his head.

Rishima Post 11

Rishima gave a soft sigh, feeling the overwhelming urge to to drag Aselia away from all of this. It was as though she didn't grasp how dangerous a situation that they were in. The tension and anger in the air, people preparing their weapons and spells, everything was just waiting for an excuse at this point to throw the first blow. Shaking his head he turned back to her, trying his best to concentrate on trying to talk to her while he still had the chance, "There is still a chance to walk away from all of this, Aselia, even now the Suruhama wait, and we could go to them. A show of good will, of peace, and those of Sauti might let you in." He suggested, hoping to appeal to the part of her that wanted so badly to find the sacred birds.

As the girl's temper seemed to flare, along with the magic that she seemed to be getting better control of since last he spoke with her, she snapped at him that she was a not a puppy but a warrior. It was something that made him nod, "You are a warrior, you're also a mystic in training, and someone very special to our people. Do you think it easy for someone like me to just seek you out? There is much that you don't understand, don't know." His time to talk was slipping away he thought to himself. Everyone was starting to shuffle around within the blockade, obviously preparing for what they felt was an inevitable battle. The extremists were doing the same, prodded forward by the hateful words of the Matron. Even Antiope seemed to feel that his chance to talk had failed since she came forward, taking over the talks, speaking directly to the Matron who was completely ignoring Rishima's presence. It made sense though, he was everything that she hated, a hybrid man of holding such high rank within their tribe.

He could feel Gerraden growing restless behind him, but Rishima lifted an arm to hold him back, "It's alright, Gerraden, please, just give me a moment more." He said to the younger man before turning back to Aselia as she asked questions of him that made his chest hurt, "Aselia, my stubborn little sister, how could I not choose a side? It's not against you though, I love you, even if you refuse to believe it. It's against the Matron whose poisoned words are going to destroy us if she is allowed to have her way that I am standing against." He hoped she'd understand, but it was hard to say if any of it would sink in or if the Matron had her claws in too deep.

Aselia post 12

At Rishima's declaration, Aselia nearly snapped. Anger seethed further out of control. Was he not listening to anything she was saying!? She had been banned from coming to Sauti despite the fact that she had not harmed any of the crystal crawlers in the territory. "You're not listening to me!" Aselia shouted, "I've already tried to look for them and that old ice hag is forbidding me back into Sauti. I was shot out here! Yet I never harmed them, they want tolerance but they wont give it to start with. The only way through that barrier isn't with you, its with them!" Her arrow turned to point to the group behind her and the Matron.

"The only ones who have truly cared for me. Are you really so stupid thinking that all of the sisters accepted who I am? Look at me!" Aselia pressed a hand to her chest before pointing to one of her markings. "You don't think I know what they say behind my back!? I'm a fake right? Can't possibly have the ability to talk to Aisha. That I'm weak. They've been saying it since I was a youngling! And if you held such high ranks as Eshe said, why did you even try!? You claim you love me but you were never there."

Aselia felt like she was breaking, shattering into a thousand pieces and that only seemed to fuel her anger on. What was worse was seeing sisters standing in front of her. Wanting to keep her out too. What were they afraid of!? Why would they not just stand aside like the Matron was ordering!? Did they think she didn't deserve to find this Suruhama!? Her eyes flashed to the Matron and the crystal crawler she spoke with. Then to the crowd behind Rishima. "You were able to talk to Eshe weren't you!? So why not me!?"

Talisia 6

Talisia sighed at the comment, "They just wanted to be hopeful." Her bi-colored gaze scanned the growing crowd and watched as everyone got ready for battle, "Even if someone may think them a fool I appreciate that they at least tried to stop this bloodshed from happening." What was the point of conquest really? Weren't the Alkalaide fine in their homelands? Jauhar seemed plenty big enough for everyone that was living there.

Talisia bit the inside of her cheek thoughtfully. She had never been apart of any big battle before and without Silva by her side she felt nervous, "I'll stay safe as should you, but it's hard to find out where I'm best suited." She smiled faintly, "Considering the circumstances..." She had been secure in Zena during the previous war and had only heard tales from her brother about the battles...she never expected to ever be outside in a situation like this. She just wanted to go back to learning how to climb vines with Dris and the girls. That may have been painful and tedious at first, but at least she knew everyone was safe in the end.

At the sweep Talisia frowned, "We can only hope that the older warriors will be ready to step up as well..." Her words trailed off as she too noticed the smaller warrior. Callum? Certain that the hybrid wasn't an illusion Talisia felt her stomach drop. Worry furrowed her brow as she took a step forward without thinking. Was he truly going to fight on the front lines like that?

"I may actually move forward myself." Her whip clutched in her hands Talisia gave a nod to Dris, "Hopefully I can circle back here before the battle breaks loose around us and if not...I'll see you soon." She looked back to her shifter friend for a moment, "It'll be fine." Surely they were tough and could get through this. She herself couldn't die this easily after all she had someone dear out there still looking for her and she was determined to survive and see him one last time.

Moving forward Talisia reached out through the crowds but had to pause. Where had Callum gone in such a short amount of time? Her stomach knotted up as she swerved between others to move forward herself. Time to see what I am truly made of I suppose. Now to just find out where Callum had went...

Amarone Post 12
Healer's Tents

Amarone was still shifting things around to appear busy when Aseara spoke up, and she turned to examine the girl once again.

"I am an inventor...well sort of..." She said slowly, "I want to be a great inventor someday, one that changes the world for the better. Right now I more go around and try to fix things..."

She stretched a bit and moved closer to Aseara as more people seemed to enter the space to help, and turned to smile at her, "And you? Are ou a healer or...?"

He almost asked her what she was talking about until she clarified, and then Alek found himself shaking his head almost immediately.

"I mean, I guess I did once. Never with a weapon, but I thought about being a mage who fights... things... for a while. It didn't stick." Alek turned briefly to the woman requesting help with the tent's space issue. "Yes, sure." He carefully lifted a nearby pack of mystery items off of the floor, moving it closer to the wall behind him and Kayin before addressing his sister again. "When I put together poultices and practice magic it feels more like something I could be good at."

Alassiel - Post #10

It was time. Alassiel moved with the rest of the shifters with ranged weapons behind the close combat ones. She didn’t know who this Matron thought she was, but there was no way they were moving. It looked like talks hadn’t even done a thing to settle the dispute. She had doubted it would work out anyways, Alkidikes were not much for talking it seemed. Still, Alassiel had not known it wold come to this, a bloody blood bath it would be if they continued on their current path. No helping it now, Alassiel straightened herself and gripped her spear tighter.------------------------------------

Aseara - Post #12

An inventor, what a particular yet interesting line of work. Aseara looked impressed. “I’m a dancer in Oba.” She didn’t know if it was a glamourous lifestyle, or one frowned upon really but it got her what she wanted and she was good at it. “I wanted to help, make sure none of my friends end up here.” She looked around. “I’m just hoping there are more healers than volunteers or we might be in trouble when they fight breaks out.” She’d seen a few actual healers, but there were also a lot of people here who didn’t look like healers.

Karothdra - Post #12

In all honesty, Karothdra had had no idea why people were fighting and why the Alkidikes had decided to try and invade another land. Truth be told, she herself would have been a little more than peeved if some young girl had come in on an Oban festival and started throwing insults around. But was this what had really happened? She had no idea. It all felt a little childish to her and as she eyes the matron she wondered where it could have all gone wrong and could it possibly have been all avoided.

“They need to stop talking and get to fighting.” Karothdra mumbled.

Eziya Post 12

"We should get this little one to my tent then. It'll be safer for him until we can locate his family or they come hunting for him. How does that sound?" Eziya questioned Araie as she began to usher her towards the tent she had constructed. She could hear the shouting from both sides, but she hoped their people would be able to block them off and keep the others safe. She just hoped it would all work out.

Dezani Post 12

Was he panicking? Yes, but he was prepared to protect all who needed it. He needed to figure out just how to help, but he wasn't exactly sure what he could do. He had been practicing his fighting, but he was still not sure if he was good at it or not. Some of the warrior women had been training for years. He'd just have to make sure they couldn't get to Araie. If he could prevent that then everything else that happened was okay.

Kani Post 12

"I suppose you're right," Kani muttered, brushing her fingers against Gael's cheek. "Are you going to go to the front lines while I stay closer to the other magic users?" She was prepared to fight and believed in the gods to protect her. They would get through this and then she an Gael would return back to Matori where they belonged. Or perhaps they would explore for a while. She wasn't sure if the boy would continue to follow her around or not, but she could hope at least.

Xariy Post 11

Wow the leaders really liked to talk trash to each other. More so than even she did. Really she figured if they were going to have at it out they would hop to it already. "So I go in for quick stabs and you come up behind me to poke at them with your big trident. How does that sound?" she suggested, nudging Phaedra as they got into position. They could always go out and scout around as well she supposed. But getting up and personal would be more fun.

Zumei Post 11

"Oh I'm sorry! I didn't need to bump into you!" Zumei blushed, looking at the older ice woman. She was so ready to run off into the lines with Eije that she hadn't even seen the woman walking by. She really needed to pay attention if she planned on fighting.

"I'll definitely have your back as well, Eije," she nodded happily, still embarrassed from bumping into the woman. "Oh I'm Zumei by the way!" she exclaimed to the woman.

V'demhe Post 10

She had tried to talk sense into those she faced but they were too far gone in their hatred to even consider her words. So she huffed and shook her head. It wasn't like she wanted to go against her own people. When V'demhe turned her head to look away from the Matron she noticed someone else. Aselia. The young Alkidike decided to move closer to the mystic to see if she could get an answer from her about what had happened when she was in Sauti.

When she was close enough she heard the young mystic shouting. Dem felt sorry for the man she was yelling at. She even gave a cringe. However, there was something that Aselia shouted that got her attention and made her move a bit more quickly. She put her blades away and when she was close enough she spoke. "Aselia, you were shot?" There was real concern in her voice and she got a bit closer. "Are you alright? Her eyes searched the mystic for signs of said injury.

She looked up at Aselia's eyes and then turned her head to look at Rishima. She instantly knew who he was, her mother had spoken about him. "Excuse my interruption, Rishima. I was worried when I heard her shout that she had been shot." V'demhe just hoped he wouldn't be upset with her for butting in.

Ming'we Post 8

As things were talked out she waited from her sniping spot. Her crossbow loaded and ready to be fired once things started to get messy. Taking her eyes away from the Alkidike's momentarily she searched the crowd for where Callum had gone. She wanted to make sure she knew where he was so that if he needed any cover fire she could provide it.

----------------------------------------------------

Phaedra Post 10

With everything starting to heat up she struck her spare trident into the ground, though not too far, and walked away from it. If someone needed it or wanted to use it they could. She could always buy another. Phaedra headed out for the front lines. She was a melee fighter and would need to be in front of those that were ranged fighters. She could provide that kind of cover at least.

------------------------------------------------

Ariya Post 10

When she didn't find Maya right away her attention went toward the other Alkidike's and she froze for a moment. Was her mother there? Did she see her now? Was she disappointed? The young prentice bit down on her bottom lip and chewed the metal stud that was in her lip. Then she took a deep calming breath and simply turned her attention elsewhere. Worrying about Niesh would get her nowhere. She could deal with all of that when she returned home. If she was allowed back home, that is. Ariya cast her eyes in the direction of Aisha and she prayed that the great mother would let her return to the isles after this was all done.

----------------------------------------------

Syqvara Post 12

When Nyiim told her to follow she did. Sy was curious about what he wanted or was showing her. Then he stopped at the front and told her to stay at the front and move when they moved. Syqvara nodded her head. "A-Alright." The leafling could do that. So long as she wasn't in danger of being speared or shot. Then again this was about to be war, she would be in danger of everything. When she was told to simply survive she smiled at him and nodded once more. "I'll try."

Gael Post 12

When Kani brushed her fingers against his face he reached up to capture her hand and he held it there for a moment before he kissed it. "As much as I would love to be at the front lines, I would love it even more if I could stay by you and make sure you are safe." Gael wasn't going to let anything happen to her. If he could stop it anyways. He knew he wasn't an experienced fighter but he hoped he would be powerful enough to protect Kani. He let go of her hand and smiled at her. "Now's your chance to impress me with that magic of yours, remember?" Gael chuckled then winked at her affectionately.

Kalliope Post 13

She grinned as others seemed to say they would like the help. Kalli looked back at Issaly and gave a friendly smile. "Oh that's alright. Saraf just gets grumpy with people from time to time. Come on, they could use some help in there." And with that she made her way into the tent so that she could help out a bit. "What would you like me to do?" She questioned of the healers and helpers inside. Kalliope was ready to help out and when the fighting started she would make sure to keep an eye out for any Alkidike's that were hostile.

Istanell Post 8

Istanell stared at Cerith for a moment, eyes traveling over her body before jumping to her face. "Yes." He replied when she said she was charmed to meet him, though it was more automatic than anything. "Likewise, though circumstances are rather unfortunate.... you're Jelanii's sister... it's good that you two found each other." He thought it was a bit of a double edged sword to have your family with you in battle. They were close and accounted for... but they could also end up dying before your very eyes. He wondered if she would be in the heat of the battle. His gaze shifted to Illian and he sat himself down next to his brother, offering silent prayers for his well-being.

If Incanthis couldn't be found here... then he was back in Oba for some reason. Which meant returning there after the war, Istanell liked the idea of that little. He would do what must be done, of course. He'd also thought about other family being here... though every shifter he passed seemed to be a little more disappointment in and worry in his heart. He'd decided to stop thinking about his brothers, and even V'Rin. Istanell ate in relative silence, having nothing to speak about.

Eventually they were called into action and it made his stomach drop some. He rose half way before sitting again, suddenly taking Illian into a hug and planting a kiss on top of the grown earthling's head. "Be safe Illian, Serin will watch over you." He still wasn't sure about leaving his brother's side.. but archers were being sent to the back lines. As he stood he carefully poked and prodded at his ribs, they seemed fine. They'd healed... mostly. And mostly was good enough for Istanell. He'd promised Illian he would find a healer at some point during the war, or whatever this was.

L'lhynd Post 6

Things had become... increasingly less panic inducing. They'd stayed at the inn for a while... L'lhynd hadn't been sure how much time had actually passed, but enough for him to calm down and more than enough so that he didn't end up freaking out immediately with a decision to leave immediately. No, Zuberi and Kdal had been patient with him. For the majority of the time they'd spent refusing to travel L'lhynd had been reminding himself that he would be little help in this sort of situation. And then he would think about all of the people who would undoubtedly end up like he'd ended up... or ended up dead. So he'd mad a decision, though he had a strong feeling he'd end up regretting it.

The medical tents had been mostly attended to by magic users skilled with healing... but if things got bad there wouldn't be enough magic to treat every patient. It had been clear to L'lhynd that other earthlings would get worn down, didn't have an endless supply of magic. So he had decided he would put the one good skill he had to use... sewing. Sewing flesh was much the same as sewing clothing... and he wouldn't know how much he'd actually be needed here but it gave him a purpose. His eyes flickered often to the entrance of the tent and then back to his sewing supplies. Different sized needles and a few types of thread. Zuberi on the other side of the tent... Zuberi. L'lhynd would have to think a lot about the Oban... he didn't like it.

He didn't speak to anyone else in the tent, he chose to sit stiffly with the exception of his eyes. And even those stilled after a while, his focus remaining on his supplies as he tried to fight down the tension mounting in his stomach.

Nuri Post 13
Oban War Camp, Front Lines

His focus was on prepping Naraka for the battle. It was clear that others would also be using beasts to fight, and many were ones he had only heard from in his studies. Nuri knew he needed to focus, and to do that meant speaking with Naraka and keeping an eye on his surroundings.

It seemed he wasn't the only one, however, to note that this entire situation was quite foolish, as Karothdra spoke up about her want to fight as well.

"We may not have much longer to wait..." He said back, eyeing the tension and the warriors that were settling into formation, "The sooner this talk stops, the sooner I can get on with this fight."

And hopefully, he thought, head home.

Lumikani Post 13
Alkidike Extremist Camp

Lumikani was frustrated, and she turned to look at her Mystic once more. She began to ponder why she was so focused on Aselia over the matron. Maybe it was because the Mystic was closer in age to she, or maybe it was because she had heard to whispers. She heard what her sisters had said, both before and during the festival. Many believed the mystic was not welcome or even true based on her darker markings.

However, Lumikani couldn't believe it.

She too had been the focus of many sisters as of late, her smaller size causing them to tease. When they discovered her true age, and the fact that she was to be smaller than any sister when full grown, they began to whisper about her as well. Lumikani's mantra had always been that Aisha had bloomed her for a reason. Therefore, Aisha had bloomed Aselia for the same reason.

It didn't matter how it happened, for Aselia's flower had bloomed, and she had been chosen. It was not Lumikani's place to question the great mother or the vessel that she speaks through. Therefore, it was not the sisters' place either.

She finally made her decision and moved closer to the Mystic, although keeping her distance behind the protecting party. She eyed the hybrid trying to make some semblance of peace, although she had not been paying attention to what...he...had said. Instead, she looked him up and down, and hoped that he followed the ways of their mother. She would protect him as long as he stayed true.

But she could feel the tension, and she could hear her Mystic's anger in her words. Lumikani kept quiet, and turned back to face their sisters in the distance.

This battle was inevitable.

It was then she saw another sister come close from the enemy side, and Lumikani grew angry and frustrated. This sister had come from the other side, and was asking if their Mystic wanted help? She couldn't help as her anger bubbled forward again, and she moved forward and interrupted as well.

"You stand against us, yet act as if you care for your Mystic? You are ready to fight, yet come to us concerned. Which side do you stand, sister, for it looks like you were ready to cut us down by standing at the Earthling's side moments ago."

She demanded an answer, for V'demhe had no place near the Mystic if she was fighting for the other side. Lumikani did not bring out weapons, or aggression, but she stood there looking at the other with a set face, seeking an answer and determined to protect her Mystic.

She had heard the whispers, and she knew the line was drawn. She heard the threats and the anger, and she knew her place was by her Mystic's, and mother's, side.

Amarone Post 13
Healer's Tents

A dancer in Oba? Amarone's surprise was apparent on her face. What was a dancer doing so close to the front lines? Before she could ask, Aseara was quick to explain why she was here, and what she was fighting for. It seemed smart enough, and friends were something that a lot of people were passionate about.

"All we need to do is maintain their health. I grew up with siblings on the farms of Kesris, and they were always getting hurt. The best thing to do is patch them up tight with a wrap until a healer can arrive. You also could sew them up, if you have the skill and the stomach."

It was a simple response, but Amarone was quite confident in her stitching skill, at least to help keep a fighter stable until someone with better training could do greater good.
