Aldrich Brandt



She laughed at him. "I can't imagine Aldrich ever being cute. He's far too old for that." Waving a hand dismissively, she stood as the man of the hour finally walked in, dressed immaculately in a day suit. "Ah, my dear husband. You've been neglecting me."
He walked over to her, taking her outstretched hands and kissing her cheek. "I have merely been making myself presentable, Ava," he replied defensively, releasing her to stand by Earle. "I see you've met Earle."
"Your latest lover doesn't impress me, Aldrich. What, did you buy him from the street?" She laughed again, leaning back and gesturing for a glass of wine. "I can hardly believe that a man like this would make you into a woman, liebling."
He sighed, walking over to the bar to pour her a glass of wine. "Be polite, Ava. It's bad enough that so early into our relationship, he has to suffer through my ex-wife."

The man blushed despite knowing well enough that the plan, biting back an embarrassed laugh and pressing his hands to the king's chest, although he wasn't trying to push him away. "Please, like it's a change from how you usually are," he chuckled, tilting his head away and looking down. "You're practically a teenager!"
"Speaking of, how old are you, sir?" she asked, standing and setting her hands on her hips. Her look said that she was half-fishing, and half-trying to figure out if her ex-husband was dating a child.

She raised an eyebrow, watching the two lovers with a quizzical brow. "You're two years older than him?" Ava didn't seemed really convinced. Earle looked very good for a man of his claimed age. Then again, so did she. "He's a homebody. Aldrich has that effect on free spirits that he comes across in passing. Quite a damper, honestly." When they were married, they rarely went anywhere that didn't involve business. It was depressing, and irritating.
Aldrich inhaled through his nose, trying to keep a happy face as he was touched by the very handsome man. All he could think about was that smug smile on his wife's face. Either Earle was going to admit that he'd been trapped by him, or that this was just a fling that wouldn't last long. He expected the intelligent man to have a response for it, as he did everything, but he still wished they weren't in this position.

The reminder of the day's news caused the man to sputter, although he quickly tried to recover himself. Marriage? They agreed not to allow the topic to breach, especially not to bring it up themselves! Maybe he was overreacting, but still! He didn't need the idea in Ava's-
"So you two are getting married?" she asked, sitting on the arm of the armchair and crossed her tanned, mile-long legs. "I mean, if you click so well with Aldrich, wouldn't marriage be a good idea? After all, you seem to really like each other."
Aldrich clung to the king's torso, trying to find a way to answer without making her think that they were going to break up or get married.

Offended, she stood and set her hands on her hips, preparing her war face. "Excuse me, but I didn't want to get married!" she protested, pointing an accusing finger at her former husband, who glared at her head on. "I wanted an abortion, I wanted to travel the world without a husband and a baby, but he forced me to marry him! He made me stay!"
"I asked you, Ava," he corrected in the calmest manner he could summon. "I offered to take full responsibility of Alan, and you opted to stay and get married. I'm sorry it didn't work out like you thought it would, but stop blaming me for getting yourself knocked up and then cheating on me with some two-bit model that gets all his best poses from Zoolander." She gaped at him, but he wasn't finished. Looking up at Earle, Aldrich raised his hand to touch the man's cheek. "This guy, he really likes me, and not just for a weekend. He sincerely likes me." Glancing back to Ava, he sent a grimace over his shoulder. "And you're missing out."
Then, with a short warning, Aldrich moved upwards to press his mouth to the king's, just barely sliding his hand between their mouths so it looked like they were kissing when they were kissing his hand instead.

To be perfectly honest, Aldrich hadn't been expecting a real kiss. That was the whole point of putting his hand over the man's mouth. However, he wasn't entirely upset about this kiss. The businessman forgot completely about his ex-wife, his gunshot wounds, and his very late son. He forgot about deadlines, smuggling ships, and enemies. He could only feel this kiss, this sweet, passionate kiss. Why did't Heinrich want this?! He could feel sparks, fireworks, butterflies, chills! What was that idiot hiding from!
Aldrich responded to the kiss with what strength he could, unwilling to simply be a spectator in this sport. His hands, unsure of what to do, mimicked a former lover of his and touched the man's hips, fingers floating on the skin upwards to his chest.

As the kiss ended, Aldrich's hand had moved up to touch the king's cheek, breathing shallowly and licking his lips. "Who cares?" he whispered back, smiling up at him in a strange way. It didn't feel fake anymore, but he didn't really seem to notice. Instead, he stroked Earle's cheek and blushed. "Screw her."
"I'm right here, you know," she tried to interject, only to be annoyed.
