Shaun braced himself while Joey climbed up, then lowered his hands and waited for the boy to settle. Once he was ready, Shaun moved over to Lily Rose. "Yes it did," he said with a grunt as he picked up the dog. He lifted her up to just over Joey's lap, then waited for the boy to take hold of her. He realized his answer probably would not make the boy feel any better and added, "But don't worry, you're a lot bigger than a Dunsparce. I'm sure a Victreebel wouldn't be able to eat you." He tried to smile reassuringly at the boy, while his mind started running through lists of large pokemon and wondering which actually could eat a human whole. Wailord still topped the list.

Despite Shaun's efforts, Joey was not reassured. It could if it were hungry enough, or spit acid at me so I couldn't run away! He didn't voice his worries, but he did take Lily Rose, settling the dog in his lap. In a drastic change from her behavior earlier, she was now perfectly happy, even eager, to stay glued firmly to her trainer. Joey's eyes flicked over the tall grass all around, wondering if there were other hungry pokemon just waiting to jump out and eat him or Lily Rose. One hand found it's way into Lily Rose's ruff and started petting, soothing himself and his growlithe.

Jorge blinked owlishly at the scene, her mouth agape. Layla had suddenly returned to her side, looking a bit green around the gills. Jorge turned around to look away from the Victreebel and at Gormlaith."That was...certainly something," she coughed.

"Uhh... huh." Charlotte's jaw was hanging open. The entire scene happened right before her eyes - a shiny pokemon getting gulped up in seconds flat. She had only seen such cruel scenes in nature documentaries, and even then she didn't like it. "I uh... feel kinda sick..." She felt something prodding her shoulder, and turned to see Mara pointing towards her pokeball lying in the grass. "Oh right... I guess I better go get it..." She weakly walked over and knelled down to retrieve it, gingerly touching the grass next to her. "It was right here... and then..." After a few moments of silence, Charlotte lifted herself back on her feet. "Well... maybe it'll turn into something like you, now?" She said, looking towards a rather indifferent Mara. "Alright, we can't let ourselves get too far behind... Let's keep following the group!"

Jem stared at the space that once held both a shiny Dunsparce and a very large Victreebell. "Oh my god." she said. "Holy s**t. That was brutal."
"Pikachu! Pii pika pikachu!" Sammy scolded. This is why you don't go dashing after mystery pokemon! That could have been them in that giant plant's mouth! She smacked the top of her trainer's head in rebuke, accidentally adding a few light zaps as her damaged cheek responded to her tenseness.

Surprised that the young man who approached didn't turn around from the crowds of trainers heading toward the grass, but instead seemed to come from the other direction, Rhei sat on the ground as he set his pack down. She put her legs out in front of her and took the bottle of water, tilting her head at him. "Thanks," she said, twisting the cap off of it. "You know, you might be the first person my age I've seen around here. Everybody else is either years younger or a decade or two older." Pouring the cold water over her wound, Rhei sucked in a breath. It stung, but the more water she poured over it, the less intense the pain was. She stopped after a moment, leaning over to check the wound again, and it looked fine - at least, better than it had before. It was missing all the grit that Rima's vines had left in it.
Then, however, the healer was off after his pokemon, offering her an apology. Rhei raised her eyebrows. Something must really be wrong, she thought, as Rima continued to cling to her neck. "Good luck!" she called after the trainer. Maybe it would be a pokemon that his fluffy white bird pokemon wanted him to catch or something. Whatever it was, she was sure she could wait. Pouring a little of the water over her hand to rinse off a bit of the sweat and dirt, Rhei closed her fist and pressed the back of her hand to her wound. She might know nothing about actual first aid, but she knew that direct pressure would slow bleeding until she could get help. And help was supposedly coming right back, so she mentally shrugged to herself.
As the scene unfolded before her, Rima grew more and more anxious, her skinny trunk even beginning to tremble. It was then that Rhei noticed the pink darting through the grass. Frowning, Rhei turned her head to look at the Bellsprout, whose face was almost too close to hers for her eyes to focus on. If it was a bug pokemon, that could explain her apparent fear, but Rima was also a poison type. Didn't that mean she was less susceptible to bug moves than regular grass pokemon?
Twisting the lid back on the water bottle, Rhei followed the stranger - and her gaze locked onto the Victreebel that appeared just in time to gulp down the shiny Dunsparce that all the trainers had been aiming for in the grass. Rhei's good hand went to her mouth. "Sweet Arceus," she whispered, horrified. Her back slumped, as if she were trying to get as far away from the creature as possible, but her sitting position wouldn't allow her. A pokeball closed around the Victreebel, however, and Rhei's hand dropped when a lavender-haired girl went to pick up the pokeball. Good for Magnolia, even if that pokemon has the potential to eat her. She saw a bunch of trainers scramble for cover, even as the threat had ended. Rhei turned back to Rima. "Promise you'll never eat me if you're irritated at me," she demanded.
Still trembling, Rima nodded. FrostyPeaches I don't think she will scream at the disinfectant, maybe a few groans or something. :3

Becka spotted the Shiny Dunsparce and pulled a pokeball out of her bag, however before she could even throw it ... she forced back a squeal, a Victreebel ATE it! .... well that was sort of horrible but in her travels she's seen predation like this, but did it have to be a shiny dunsparce it ate?! .... oh! someone's thrown pokeball caught the victreebel... oh dear, she hoped the trainer wouldn't punish it for obeying it's instincts.
Raven stopped short and growled when the Victreebel ate the Dunsparce, he didn't like Victreebel at all, he'd almost been eaten by one before Becka had found him. His fur crackled with static but the Victreebel was caught before he could launch an attack on it. However anyone close by to the Shinx, might end up getting a small static shock.

Once Joey was settled, Shaun looked around and said, "Why don't we move on now? It's not likely there would be more than one of a fully-evolved pokemon like that in an area, especially since a Weepinbel needs a Leaf Stone to evolve into a Victreebel, so wild Victreebels are very rare. But it doesn't hurt to move away, we have no reason to stay here anyway." He nudged Salvo, and the Tropius started plodding on. Shaun opted to walk beside him this time, letting Joey and Lily Rose have their space, but staying near enough to hopefully ease their minds.

(OOC: Since Qix is unable to post today, I'll be running the meta for the day. Just pretend any posts in the Document style are from the mule.)
As the trainers continued on through the grass, someone kicked something hidden under the vegetation. The grass rustled as the thing rolled away. A moment later, anyone nearby might hear a cracking sound, and those a little farther away might hear a "peep."

Continuing to watch the over eager trainers attempt to catch the hidden Pokemon, Mako gave a nod of approval in regards to Hatch's comment. "I'm the same way." he replied. Just then, the said Pokemon revealed itself. A shiny Dunsparce? Meh... he wasn't interested... However what proceeded to occur afterwards was... rather interesting. The sudden Victrebell that raised up after the pathetic Dunsparce ate the thing whole without hesitation, making Mako's brows rise with surprise. "Didn't see that coming.." he muttered. He wasn't too sure how to feel about it, either.
"Kinda surprising to see a Victrebell out here in the wild, though. I'd guess it's pretty strong, too." the petite teen commented, watching the trainer who'd managed to snatch up the grass type.
But in the other trainers efforts to catch the unknown--now known--Pokemon, one of them did manage to ball the cheese_whine predetor that'd eaten their main target. Snorting, Mako returned to standing still and crossing his arms, "That's what happens when you go charging in after something blindly.." Flua had given pause to his play with Zhira to witness the event transpire as well, head lifting with shock too. Blinking a few times, he looked down to both Mako and Hatch, before returning his focus on the outgoing, and fun Zhira. Cooing, he lowered his head back down to gently nose at the curled tail of the Meowht that was swaying about so proudly.

It seemed like just as soon as the pokemon had been revealed, it was gone and replaced by another. Hatch couldn't help his jaw going a little slack with surprise. The swiftness ans suddenness of the attack was scarier than the attack itself, to him... "Certainly knows how to take advantage of the racket," he murmured, relaxing slightly once the pokemon was caught and the danger had passed. Freaky...
Zhira's ears pinned back as the Victrebell jumped out and ate, giving a sharp hiss in warning. But, the moment the pokemon was captured, and Flua's attention returned to him, he was all happiness and purrs, spinning to playfully paw at Flua's nose as his tail was inspected.
However, Zhira's ears also perked at the sound of the peep, making his head lift curiously.

Raven jumped as a rustle and a 'peep' sound was heard, sending the mildest of electric shocks outwards from his fur, something that would make someone pay attention but not enough to really hurt.
The peep had Becka's attention but at almost the same moment she got the 'shock' from Raven and she instantly turned towards her Pokemon, noting his agitated state. She bent to him and hugged him, rubbing his ears "it's ok Raven, there's nothing to be scared of, the Victreebel is gone... there's nothing going to hurt you while i'm around ok?" she murmured as she tried to calm him.
Raven shuddered when Becka touched him, his mind back in the old days before she rescued him, he almost sent out a larger shock to scare her off until he realised just who it was and he stopped even his mild static, burying his head into her as she murmured nonsense to him, slowly the rapid beating of his heart slowed and he relaxed. He licked her arm to let her know he was ok.
Becka smiled, "there we go, see? wasn't that bad" she told him, giving him another gentle ear rub before turning her head to see what that rustling had been.

Niko's mouth gaped wide open as he thought he would have been throwing a Ball at a shiny Dunsparce that everyone else was suspecting, but to his surprise, turned into a fat Victreebell coming from behind and swallowing the entire shiny pokemon like it was a snack... He shook his head as one of the many trainers ended up catching it. "What a sight," he sighed. Almost as if he had witnessed something from a horror fiction novel. He was not sure if he was feeling disappointed or happy for not having caught that one. It was then that he ran over to where his Safari Ball got dropped with no catch, and picked it up. Running back to the girl that was wounded, and waiting for him, he shoved the ball back in his pants pocket and unzipped another pocket from his backpack that laid beside her in the ground, unmoved and not stolen. Good. No theft is good.Quickly, he put on a pair of clean gloves that he always carried in his do it yourself assembly of first aid needs. He dug in the main pocket with his right hand and took out a clean roll of bandage gauze wrapped air tight in a clear wrapper, and with his other he took out a small bottle of disinfectant. He lifted the girl's arm and unscrewed the cap, and eventually poured the liquid over her opened wound. "This may sting for a bit," he told her calmly. "And I agree, you seem to be around my age. The trainers I've met are mostly younger than me. I'm 20 already." He looked at the girl's Bellsprout and wondered what that one was like. Was it just as twisted as the Victreebell? Or more calm? Without further blurring his thoughts, he focused on the girl's wound again with an uncomfortable look on his face. "Did you see what happened to the shiny Dunsparce from all the way back here?" he asked her, and shook his head again. "That fat Victreebell swallowed it in one go..."

Joey wobbled a bit when the tropius started moving, but after a few steps, he got a feeling for where the muscles lay and how the pokemon moved. It was a lot different from riding his dad's Pidgeot, or getting a piggy-back ride on his Rampardos, Starlily, but the basic idea was still the same. A little change to his seat, and squeezing gently with his knees, and he felt much better. Lily Rose perked suddenly, looking intently at a new spot in the grass. Joey's hand tightened in her fur, but for once, she didn't try to run off. Joey looked where she was focused and listened carefully. Was that another pokemon? Joey slipped a pokeball free, ready to throw if it turned out to be something other than another terrifying pokemon that wanted to eat them all. If it wasn't a scary creature of doom, it would be good to catch it quickly, before it went the way of the poor dunsparce.

Although Salvo seemed very easygoing, he was actually pretty alert. While they traveled, Shaun often relied on Salvo to be aware of any signs of pokemon they might encounter. So he was watch their surroundings and listening as they wandered through the landscape. Consequently, he heard the small sounds coming from the grass. He slowed down and turned his head towards the sound, trying to see what it might be. Another pokemon? Shaun hadn't noticed the noises, but he did notice when his pokemon slowed and looked around. He also noticed Lily Rose was looking in the same direction. "What's up, Salvo? Something there?" Shaun asked. He stood on his toes to peer over his pokemon's back and get a better look at the area beyond him.
