Piper tossed his head in acknowledgement and accented his approval with a whinny. He made show of trying to lurch ahead of her as they walked and Paola weakly sighed. “I get it, but it’s not like I’m going to find some random pokemon that I can one ride, two is willing to come along, and three is all right with me riding it around. Those kinds of pokemon don’t just show up, you know.”

►Yawnty had been sat, legs crossed, playing Monster Hunter, on his heavily worn and outdated PSP until the train had come to its slow but steady stop. He'd been the last to disembark, half concentrating on his game and half being lazy. Ankhat however, was up and off before the doors had a chance to fully slide open. Yawnty slithered out into the crowd, his mental tether to his pokemon directing him to her. She'd been quite persistent in coming to the Hoenn but wouldn't say why. Yawnty could see no reason to not go. The Hoenn was nice this time of year and was just as viable a region to claim contest fame as the Sinnoh. sides, it didn't matter what region he was in, he'd find ways to cause mischief and chaos. Like now for instance. His entire collection of Unown spun around him in circles forming a protective psychic barrier that shoved everyone else aside. He smirked watching as two kids, no more than maybe eight or nine, were shoved into a wall. Their faces pressed to the barrier in a way that resembled glass, but there was nothing there to see. No reflection like real glass. He found peoples shoved reactions to be shoved by an invisable force highly comical.

From his pockets and backpack, he pulled out pens and paper, retractors and notebooks and finally no less than three tablets. All of which he set about him in a circle with his back to the tree trunk. Ankhet knew what to expect and settled in for a long wait. Yawnty in preparation for the note taking that he was about to begin, released all of his pokemon. On his lap sat a Poke'Dex, the most advanced and up to date database of all things Pokemon. One by one he scanned his pokemon and noted their moves, abilities, and contest potential compared to combat potential. The Unown, with their unusual moves and abilities, remained an outlier he'd need to study personally. The Poke'Dex simply couldn't help his research with regards to their potentials. He made a mental note to use them in as many battles as possible whenever possible to learn their capabilities in detail. In the meantime, he'd focus on the starters as possible contest winners.
The starters, however, Fennekin, Froakie, and Rowlet hadn't learned, nor forgotten any moves yet. They had the greatest potential to be trained for the spotlight. If however, something came up he could and would replace them with a more competent pokemon given the reward was better then the effort to retrain a replacement. Befriending his pokemon came second to fame and fortune. His life's goal was to become the most renowned coordinator in history. By the time he was done, a good three hours had passed. He cleaned up and had Fennekin burn any notes he didn't intend to keep before recalling his team and headed for the next town.

As Lawlett left Birch's lab he found himself glancing around at where he was. Little Root Town. He gave a frustrated sigh. Well. At least he was close to the train and with time to kill. He pulled his box of cigarettes out of his pocket and placed one on his lips. He fumbled around for a few seconds before finding his lighter and playing the cigarette to the flame and lighting it. He took a inhale and then let out a deep breath. Okay, now everything was right in the world. His eyes turned to Jaws and Spinach who were standing idly by. "What? We can kill a few minutes." He said calmly and took the cigarette out of his mouth. Spinach fell to the ground and sat before staring at the grass. Jaws merely turned away and stared at the people passing by. "Besides, we're right where we're supposed to be. The train is nearby and doesn't come for..." He raised a brow and glanced at his watch. "Like 15 minutes."
Spinach let out a bored noise and Jaws, in his usual fashion, just huffed. Lawlett frowned a bit annoyed. "What, do you guys want to go explore?" Lawlett motioned to the grass outside. "We can go peak if you guys want." Spinach perked up and before to take off for the grass. "Okay." Lawlett said to Jaws and the two followed behind him. Spinach didn't get far before the three heard a growl and a chirp and a zigzagoon appeared from the grass.

Lawlett looked at the Zigzagoon and then to his bag before fumbling around and pulling out a pokeball. "Alright little man." He said and turned to the wild Pokemon. "How about you let me catch ya and I'll get you healed up." The words were kind but with his monotone voice, they fell flat. He tossed the Pokeball underhand and it smacked against the Zigzagoon with a dull thud before rolling away on the ground. "Well... s**t." Lawlett frowned at the now even more pissed Pokemon. It charged again smacking the Oddish down again.

He turned to Jaws and motioned his head and the two made their way back to town.

It certainly didn't take long for Lawlett to find his way back to the lab. He supposed it was good they didn't wander off too far. Birch, while busy, was kind enough to stop his research for a moment and help Lawlett heal up Spinach and his new teammate - Bandit. He waited quietly until they were both back to full health than took the Pokeballs and thanked the professor before heading outside once more. He stopped outside and turned to jaws before releasing the two Pokemon. The Zigzagoon shook its fur and turned to stare at Jaws and Lawlett while Spinach shook his head and glared at Bandit. The oddish got up to charge at the other but Lawlett picked him up. "No we're not doing that again. No more fighting. Got it?" He looked at the two of them while Jaws stood calmly. Spinach grumbled and Lawlett set him down. "Too much energy today. Tone it down. Yeah?" He looked at Spinach then knelt down and looked at the Zigzagoon.
"Sorry about that one. Doesn't like being yelled at. We all don't." He shrugged. "And uh... sorry you lost your berry. I promise I'll make it up to you. Cool?" He held a hand out and Bandit stared at it then sat and stared at Lawlett. "Yeah. Fair." He said and got up. "Well little Bandit. You're free to come along with us. Can't promise much but a warm bed and some good food." The Zigzagoon's ears perked up. "Food you, of course, don't have to..." his voice trailed off as he glanced around and then checked his watch. "...share. s**t the train." He turned to the others. "Whoever's coming, we gotta go." He said and turned before walking toward the train. Spinach followed behind as Jaws and Bandit shared a look and a nod and followed along.
At the station, Lawlett scrambled for his ticket before pulling the bend paper deep out of his pocket. The conductor nodded and the three board the cart before standing quietly. Spinach stared out the window while Jaws wondered around and Bandit sat by Lawlett. "I see you stuck around. Cool." Lawlett said to the new member and they took their seats when shown and left Little Root Town for the next adventure.

As Lawlett arrived back in Littleroot, he climbed off the train and gave a glance around. He was moving around a lot and it was making him tired again. He gave a yawn and turned to his team, each eyeing him before Spinach took the lead and lead the rest of them out of the train station. Lawlett followed behind quietly as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it up, taking puff from it. "Alright. So we're on the lookout for a lost buneary." He said to his team and took his phone out before kneeling down and showing the mission information. "Looks like this so we need to keep an eye out." He said.
Spinach nodded, bored, and made his way out toward the tall grass. "And Spinach" Lawlett started not yet standing up and staring at the oddish as it tried to walk away. "We don't need to be fighting and pissing off any other Pokemon today. Got it?" He asked and adjusted his stance before pulling the cigarette out of his mouth and holding it. Spinach huff and flopped back on its butt in frustration while Lawlett and Bandit rolled their eyes.

So. From what he had gathered from his short walk out of Professor Birch’s lab and back into the town, Littleroot—as the place was called—seemed to be the starting hub for new trainers and whatnot. Which, of course, made sense considering that it was the location of the Pokemon lab. Right. So that much Scott was certain of. Another thing he was absolutely convinced of was that each region had different starter Pokemon. Which, given that each region had its own climate and biomes, also made sense. Excellent, he was finally getting somewhere, even if it wasn’t somewhere very far. ’Baby steps, Scotty. Baby steps.’ Now all he had to do was make his way to the next town and ideally battle anyone who he came across. That couldn’t be too hard. Though… He glanced down at the pokeball in his hand. Knowing his Pokemon would probably be a good idea.
After taking a deep breath, he released his new companion from its pokeball and was surprised to see a cute little creature staring back at him. ”I’m gonna guess you’re probably a water type. The blue kind of gives it away.” But in the off chance that he was wrong, Scott does pull out his Pokedex to add the Pokemon’s information to the system as well as learn its name.
Mudkip, the Mud Fish Pokemon. The fin on Mudkip’s head acts as highly sensitive radar. Using this fin to sense movements of water and air, this Pokémon can determine what is taking place around it without using its eyes.
”So water type indeed.” Mudkip squeaked happily, running up to him and zigzagging between his legs before settling against the right one. A small smile formed on Scott’s lips as he crouched down to pet the small Pokemon. ”I probably should come up with a name for you…” he mumbled, Kosmo taking the opportunity to hop down from a top Scott’s head—with the male’s assistance of course—and interact with the Mudkip. ”If it had gone the way I way I had planned things would have turned out just peachy…” As the finally word leaves the blonde’s mouth, Mudkip looks up at him with sparkling eyes. ”What? Peachy? Hmm… Maybe not that, but…. How about Peaches maybe?” Mudkip was quick to agree with his suggestion. ”Well, Peaches it is. I’m Scott. Welcome aboard, buddy.”

As the team made their way around Littleroot, keeping an eye out for the missing buneary, it was Lawlett who caught sight of Spinach waddling his way over to another trainer. "Oi. Spinach." He called out as the small oddish caught sight on the two Pokemon out of their ball. He walked over in front of them and stared them down before coming to the conclusion they were not the Pokemon he was looking for. Lawlett quickly made his way over and scooped the oddish up, worried Spinach was looking for trouble again. "Come on man, how many times do I have to tell you not to bother other Pokemon?" He said and set Spinach down who eyed his teammates. Jaws shook his head at the oddish while a leaf was far more important to Bandit than what was happening.
"Sorry. He can be a bit too much." Lawlett said. He set Spinach down and realized his words and held his hands up defensively. "Uh nothing bad. Just we're trying to find a buneary. A lost one. I don't suppose you've seen one around have you?" He asked and pulled out his phone, showing the picture to the male. "Its fine if you haven't. Figured I'd ask."

From the periphery of his vision, he noticed a small Pokemon waddling toward them, and when he adjusted his focus on said Pokemon, he heard a voice call out toward them. Spinach? That… wasn’t a type of Pokemon, right? Just something you ate. As Scott inspected the Oddish—because he did in fact know what it was considering that he’d seen plenty back home—he did have to admit that it sort of resembled some spinach with its little leaf things on the top of its head. Though he had to admit that spinach was kind of a silly name. Then again that was coming from the same young adult that decided to name a Mudkip 'Peaches' of all things, so he didn't exactly have a whole lot of room to judge anyone else on their naming choices. ”It’s perfectly all right. Spinach, right? He wasn’t bothering anyone.” As he spoke, Kosmo hopped over to observe the rather sassy Oddish while Peaches curiously joined Bandit in an attempt to figure out what was so interesting about some leaf.
Scott looked over at the phone that the male held out to him and he took a moment to scan over the Pokemon displayed in the image before shaking his head. ”No, I apologize, but I have not seen such a Pokemon around here.” Did the man lose one of his Pokemon? That… well that sucked terribly. He didn’t know the area very well, but it couldn’t hurt to help out. ”I can help you look if you would like the assistance. Two heads are better than one after all.” There was a small pause before Scott held out his hand. ”I’m Scott by the way.

Lawlett listened to the man and nodded at his question of Spinach. "Yeah nah you're right. Just he had a bit of a... bored streak. Got in a fight with Bandit over there." He pointed him thumb backwards to the Zigzagoon. "Just didn't want him trying to start anything else up. You know?" He asked and gave a shrug. His posture relaxed and slouched a little. Bandit turned his attention the Mudkip and slowly moved his tail back and forth as he eyed the other Pokemon. Spinach stared as the little dust Pokemon before moving in a circle around him.
When the male frowned and said he hadn't seen it, Lawlett wasn't disappointed. He figured that would be the case. "Its all good. Just figured I'd ask." He said and set his phone back in his pocket. The man offered help and Lawlett thought with a pout for a second before giving a nod. "Yeah if you want, that'd be cool. Just was trying to get some work done. Early bird gets the worm or however the saying goes." He couldn't remember that one. Leave something tomorrow? Eh oh well. He looked at Scott's hand and shook it. "Lawlett." He said with a nod.
"You uh from around here?" He asked."Or did you just come out of Birch's lab? I noticed you got one of those... um." He motioned at the Mudkip. ******** if he could remember what it was called.

While on the walk from leaving the Professor's lab, she let the Mudkip hopped out from her arms. Rubbing the head of her head, she let out a soft giggle, she almost had forgotten that she was carrying the little water Pokemon. Oops, maybe it didn't like to be carried too much. Either way, she was happy to have him in her team. Smiling down at the Pokemon, they walked along side with each other making their way to Littleroot Town. It wasn't a big town, but it was a nice little stop from the past town.
Marina took a look around in her new surroundings, looking amazed. Before she took another step to take a look around the town, she just remembered. "Oh right! I w-want you and my gift Pokemon to meet. Better later than n-never!" The Mudkip titled his head, looking up at his trainer to watch her start to dig into her shoulder bag. Quietly he watched as the girl seem to smile brightly as she pulled out a Pokeball from said bag. Marina looked down to the water Pokemon, tossing the ball into the air to release the second Pokemon.
A bright red beam light shot out once the Pokeball opened, shooting the beam towards the ground. Slowly a form took shape and the beam slowly faded, giving the shape its' own colors. Once the shape fully took form, the Pokemon shook its' head and slowly opened its' eyes to look at the two of them. Marina gasped softly, lowering herself to the other Pokemon's height. "Oh wow..Mr. Tendo has a taste in cute Pokemon..!" She squeaked in joy, holding out her hand to the fox-like Pokemon. The fox Pokemon took its' time to sniff Marina's hand, soon gently pushing its' head into her palm.
Marina smiled more, petting over the Pokemon's head. The Mudkip seem to get a little jealous over this, hopping his way over, demanding a few pets of his own. The girl couldn't help but laugh softly and used her other hand to give the other Pokemon some pets as well. Both Pokemon were content with the pets, almost not letting up to take themselves away from their trainer's hands. Soon Marina stopped petting the both of them, pulling out her Pokedex, she should figure out what type of Pokemon the fox one was called, same with getting the information of it. Same with the Mudkip.
The Pokedex lit up, getting the information while Marina held it in front of the fox Pokemon. It made a couple of beeping sounds before a robotic voice came from it. "Gekkit, the Fairy Fox Pokemon. Gekkit often disguise themselves as ordinary stalks of bamboo to camouflage themselves from potential predators." Nodding to herself, she soon held the Pokedex over to her Mudkip, letting it speak once more to give her the information about the water Pokemon. Content with the information she was given, she placed her Pokedex back into her bag.
Looking down at her two Pokemon, she placed a hand under her chin, humming softly. She may like the actual names of each of them, but it would be more fun to give them their own nicknames. Hopefully the ones she would come up with, they would like it as much as she does. Pointing to her Mudkip, the Pokemon payed close attention to her. "Your nickname will be...Creampuff!" Marina turned soon pointed over to Gekkit, "And you'll be Yuki! Do you guys like your names..?"
The two Pokemon looked at each other for a moment before looking back to the trainer, letting out a chirp of acceptance. Marina felt much more happier over the Pokemon liking their new names. Now that was out of the way, it was time for the three of them to start their adventure!

Scott cast a quick glance at the Zigzagoon in question, wondering if it had done something to annoy the little weed Pokemon, or if it had simply been out of complete and utter boredom as the man suggested. What would have happened around something larger than Bandit—that was its name, right?—had been the object of the Oddish’s sights? Least to say, he didn’t really think that would have yielded a very desirable outcome. ”Yeah… I could see how a situation of that sort could become very problematic very quickly.” Peaches beamed at Bandit before gently giving him a soft headbutt in greeting. Meanwhile Kosmo observed the two legged weed with rampant curiosity.
”I think that’s correct. It sounds correct in any case,” Scott mentioned regarding the idiom. ”Are… you a ranger? Or just helping out some townsfolk?” Lawlett was an odd name. Definitely something that he didn’t casually hear on the streets. What did friends call him? Law? Lett? Lettie? Probably not the best idea to judge someone on some poor family naming decisions. You know, first impressions and all.
At the question, Scott was quick to shake him head. ”Not at all. I’m from Kalos. Aside from what we were taught in school, I don’t really know much about this place. I suppose that’s part of the adventure, eh?” he directed his gaze toward the lab he had just come out of, noticing a young girl not too far from their current location. ”Yeah, Professor Birch gave me a, um…” Well s**t. ”Not Froakie…” he tried to logic with himself in the hopes that it would spark something in his memories. Mudcrap? Fudgekip? ”Mudkip!” the blond exclaimed suddenly with a snap of his fingers. ”That’s the one. Yes. Right. I got it from Professor Birch. What about you? You from these parts?”

Lawlett scratched his head as the male looked at Bandit. "Heh. Yeah it uh was." He said with a nod. After the headbutt, Bandit's ear merely twitched as he stared at peaches with his tail moving softly. Spinach stayed in circles for only a few more moments then decided on something more interesting before taking off with a nearby Lawlett not seeming to notice. He instead made his way over to a nearby girl and her two Pokemon before glancing at them and flopping down next to them and sitting.
Least the other thought the saying sounded correct. That was good enough for Lawlett. He asked if he was a ranger and the male nodded. "Yeah just started today. Seemed like a good enough job so." He gave a shrug. "Figured why not." He said honestly. "I was just trying to take care of a few simple missions before anything else." He said. "What about you? Trainer I'm guessing?" He asked.
"Kalos eh? That's pretty far walk from here." He said with a slight grin. The male mentioned not knowing these parts and Lawlett nodded. That seemed fair if he wasn't from around here. As he motioned to the Pokemon, Lawlett's eyes followed. So it was a Mudkip. That'd probably be a good thing to remember. He gave a nod at the question if he was from here. "Yeah just a few cities over. Grew up around here." He said honestly. "I left like once when I was younger. That's how I got Jaws and Spinach." He motioned to Jaws then realized he didn't know where Spinach was. "Ah s**t." He said and glanced around before noticing he had made his way over to a female.
"Hold up." He said to the other."Oi. Spinach!" He yelled at the Pokemon who just ignored him with his back turned to Lawlett. "Seriously? Why is he on such a rampage today?" Lawlett sighed. He turned to Scott and then to the girl and his team followed along. "I'm sorry about him. He's being a real pain today." Lawlett said and picked up the oddish. "He didn't bother you, did he?"
