Sable and Jin could barely hold back their snickers and the female trainer quickly realized why the bug catcher seemed familiar to her. He sounded - both vocally and attitude-wise - a lot like the one who had bugged her when she first passed through the forest. If he really was the same kid, he really had bad luck gauging skill levels of trainers. Or was in that much of a need of a butt whooping. Either way, it looked like his Pokemon were going to pay for his ill-tempered nature.

Down to his last pokemon, Oscar began to grind his teeth together in anger. "You know what, it's fine, I'm still training those ones anyways. I saved my best pokemon for last, and now your stupid rat is really gonna get it!" Oscar let out a Beedrill, but Darren frowned at Oscars commentary considering Ophelia. "Hey! I really don't appreciate you calling my partner that. You're the one who challenged me anyways, so I don't understand why you're so upset. If you challenge someone to a battle, you should really know what you're getting into first." Darren insisted. "Sh-shut up! You're the one who started it by not giving me compensation for scaring off that rare bug pokemon!" Oscar argued. "You know... I'm really starting to think you made that whole story up to try and dupe me or something..." Darren mumbled. Oscar's expression turned frantic. He'd been had!
It didn't really matter to Darren though, his pokemon were getting good experience from this battle. "Ophilia, use Scratch again. Don't let them talk you down like that!" Darren encouraged. "Ni!" Ophelia nodded and charged the Beedrill with another scratch, but this pokemon managed not to go down right away, to which Oscar was pleased. "Ha! Nice try! Now it's our turn! Beedrill.... FURY ATTACK!" Oscar sure seemed pumped up, hopping up and down and flailing about, which was amusing to watch, but the Beedrill of his was all business. It quickly rushed Ophelia, jabbing her left and right with it's drills, once, twice, three times, four times, and then a fifth time. It was so ridiculously fast, and when the Beedrill backed away, Ophelia slumped to the ground, badly hurt. "Ophelia!!!" Darren was aghast, rushing to his pokemon's side. "Haha! Told ya so! Nyeeehhhh!" Oscar stuck out his tongue in a very child-like manner. "This is my prize pokemon, so you see? You really should just give me your Metapod and I'll grant you mercy. She really is better off with me you kno--" Oscar was cut off as Morpho used String Shot and sprayed sticky white webbing at Oscars face. Darren found some relief in the comedic effect it brought to the otherwise dire situation Ophelia was in. "I don't think she wants you to be her trainer...." Darren said with a small smile, holding back a chuckle. "Meta!" Morpho chirped in agreement.
Darren's attention was brought back to Ophelia as he felt her shift beneath his hands. Was she....? "N-nido....." She croaked, forcing herself to get up again. "O-ophelia! You can still move?!" Oscar looked down in shock. "What?! No way! That Nidoran was finished! I saw it!" Oscar growled. Ophelia managed to get back on her feet, albeit barely. "Come on Ophelia, why don't you give it a rest? Flynn can take this guy..." Darren tried to insist, but Ophelia looked at him with burning eyes. She wanted to finish what she had started. "....Okay, just.... Be careful alright?""Ni." She nodded, turning her gaze back to her opponent. "Alright Ophelia, use scratch one more time!" Darren had a feeling this time, the Beedrill would go down, and he was right. Ophelia leapt forward with surprising speed after taking such a hard hit, and her scratch sent the Beedrill flying, completely down for the count. Ophelia wasn't in the greatest shape either though, it had taken all her remaining strength to make that move count, but it was worth it just to see the look on Oscars face. "WHAT?!?! No!!! No no no no!!! My ma's gonna kill me if I bring her back her Beedrill like---" He paused, biting his tongue as he realized what sort of secret he'd just let slip. "Wait a minute...." Darren scowled. "Yipe!!!" Oscar returned the fallen Beedrill and took off running. Darren stared after him for a moment, but decided it wasn't worth the chase. He had more pressing matters to attend to, like getting Ophelia healed up.
Making his way over to the Nidoran, he pulled out two potions. "Don't worry Ophelia, these'll patch you up just fine.... That beedrill really did a number on you huh...? I can't believe you pulled through like that... You really didn't need to...." Darren murmured as he began spraying her wounds.

After a few moments of being tight-lipped due to the mostly-serious turn the battle took Jin suddenly burst into laughter as the bug catcher brat not only lost with his strongest Pokemon but even let slip that the Beedrill wasn't even his. This earned the disguised Zorua a swift whack on the back of the head by his own trainer's hand, although it wasn't so hard as to actually hurt him. Not that he couldn't deny that he deserved it a little, but that pest that wanted to call himself a trainer deserved the laughter more from his point of view. His laughter didn't last for very long, though, and he soon followed the female trainer over to the teen caring for his Nidoran.
After the little smack across the back of her Zorua's head, Sable made her way over to the other trainer while pulling out a roll of cloth bandage and one of those clips to keep it from unraveling."Here,"she said to the male trainer as she knelt down and offered him the roll of cloth."Potions are all well and good, but these'll help make sure you aren't needing to clean out those jab wounds every couple of minutes."The teen's tone had a bit of an edge to it, but she was still able to offer a somewhat-friendly smile.

Darren blinked in surprise as he heard someone burst out in laughter, though he didn't think much of it. Travelers went through the forest all the time, the boy who'd laughed was probably laughing from his conversation with someone else. That's what Darren assumed anyways, until he was approached by another trainer, handing him some cloth bandages to help properly patch up Ophelia. "O-oh! Thank you!" Darren smiled, taking the bandages gratefully and getting to work. He was familiar with using the roll of cloth, he just didn't happen to have any on him. After he finished spraying the potions, he carefully tore off pieces of cloth to gently wrap around Ophelia's wounds and tie off before handing the kind woman back her roll. "Have we met before...? I don't think so. I'm Darren, Darren Ashbrook. Thanks again for those bandages. I know Ophelia appreciates it!" Darren chuckled. "Ni!" Ophelia nodded in affirmation, wagging her stubby tail as she looked up to Sable with appreciation gleaming in her little eyes.

Sable nodded lightly when the teen took the roll of cloth and kept crouched nearby as he worked on the Nidoran. For the most part she was just staying close so that if he needed it, she could help by putting a finger on the cloth wrapping to hold it in place or help navigate the fabric around the poisonous pins or something of that sort. From the way he worked, though, he did not need the assistance at all and soon enough was handing back the roll of cloth."No, we haven't, but that's no reason not to offer help,"she said as a reply to the initial question the teen had as she took back what remained of the roll and tucked it away, then let her smile widen a touch as the duo thanked her."Not a problem."As the teen spoke from her crouched position she extended a hand towards the Nidoran so that the little Pokemon could sniff it, although she didn't quite touch the poison type yet. She wanted to be sure it was alright with the Pokemon before actually trying to pet the little lady."I'd feel bad not helping out someone who just took as heavy a hit as the one that Beedrill gave her."If Ophelia allowed the teen to touch her by this point then Sable would use the fingers of the extended hand to carefully stroke the poison Pokemon while avoiding pricking her fingers on the Pokemon's trademark pins. She knew better than to try petting it like a Meowth or a Houndour, as that was an easy way to end up in some big trouble.
For the most part Jin had been standing quietly nearby, trying to be patient. That patience, sadly, was starting to run out and he couldn't help but place the first knuckle of a fist against his mouth and clear his throat just to make sure he wasn't being ignored. Apparently he had caught some attention as his trainer glanced up at him but that attention was only fleeting. The fist over his mouth helped to hide a slight frown that appeared when Sable turned back to the teen she was helping."Right, my name's Sable. Sable Voss, if you're wanting to be formal. The loudmouth behind me-""Oi!"Jin couldn't help but voice his displeasure at the comment, ending up tilting his head to move his mouth from behind the knuckle that hid it for the brief moment to make the sound and moving it back to its original position after the sound was done. Sable couldn't help but chuckle slightly as the disguised Zorua's expression settled into a mild scowl, although she had no way to know he had that expression at the moment."Yes, you. Anyway, he's my partner, Jin."Either Jin hadn't taken the loudmouth comment too hard in the first place or the partner comment was enough to make him forgive it as, once the introduction was made, he moved the hand back down to a more neutral position and extended the other one out in Darren's direction for a handshake as he partially knelt down so that the hand would actually be in reach for the male."Jin Cross, pleased to meet ya~"he said with a grin.
Regardless of whether the handshake was accepted or ignored Jin would eventually stand back up and offer Darren a sheepish smile."We were just passing by when we heard some of that... Well, I'd like to say battle, but it seems to have been a bit too one-sided for that,"he explained, not able to help chuckling as he spoke. He quickly cleared his throat again to put a stop to the chuckling when he noticed his trainer's head turn so that she could give him a glare out of the corner of her eye."Er, right. Anyway, we had mostly heard the kid's complaining and were wondering what had gotten another bug catcher's shorts in a twist. Apparently at least one has a habit of picking on passerby, or at least that's our experience so far."The disguised Zorua then took a couple of steps somewhat back and to the side so that he was standing next to his trainer since she decided squatting had become a bit too uncomfortable for her and was now standing up.
Sable gave the black-haired male a glance out of the corner of her eye before focusing back on Darren and deciding to fill in at least one blank spot."The last time we came through here we encountered someone who was acting pretty similar. Acting like the whole forest belongs to him and that anyone else should either do what he wants or leave."The female trainer let out a light sigh before she started to speak again."It's not how he treats people like us that bugs me, exactly. If someone has the nerve to wake a sleeping Gyarados then they had better be able to handle the Hyper Beam that comes next. If he's treating every trainer that passes through here like this, though, then that's a problem."Sable crossed her arms around her middle and huffed, trying to cut herself off before she said anything that could really be considered rude. She didn't exactly want this Darren guy's second impression of her to be a girl with the mouth of a sailor. Not that that wouldn't be somewhat accurate, but she was at least trying to act like she wasn't as crass as she actually was. And she was still having a hard time actually filtering her language, so it was much easier to shut her mouth and let someone else talk for a bit.

Now that Virus was preoccupied with Perse, Cyrus felt he could finally get in contact with Kail about the bulbasaur that he stole earlier for him. He pulled out his holocaster, deciding he'd prefer to send a text message instead of calling the other. "I've got the bulbasaur you wanted. Please tell me the deal is still on - i don't want to get stuck with it." He texted, then sent the message off to the number he had for Kail. After it sent, he looked up, noticing that there was likely other people nearby. Possible targets for stealing, was his first thought. However, he wanted to stay out of sight for now to assess if they were worth it. After all, it might just be some lame bug catchers, which didn't have anything of interest to him. Bug pokemon tended to have a small market, and they usually had to go for dirt cheap if they were to be gotten rid of. Cyrus and his pokemon stayed off the main path for the moment, observing the surroundings. Hopefully Virus wouldn't spot them first and get noisy. Meanwhile, Rita was getting bored, having not seen another battle for a while now.

Darren smiled and nodded when Sable insisted that just because they hadn't met didn't mean she shouldn't offer to help. "Heh oh no, that's not why I was asking, but it's good to know that about you anyways. I dunno you just seem like someone I might know~ I'm sorta forgetful at times though, so I just wanted to make sure I guess." Darren explained sheepishly before thanking her for her help and handing her back the bandages he hadn't used.
Ophelia sniffed curiously at the kind stranger's hand when Sable offered it, not because she didn't trust her, but because she wanted to remember the scent, for Sable seemed like an ally, and it was good to remember the scent of an ally if they ever needed help at some point in the future. Darren nodded gravely though as Sable mentioned that she would have felt bad if she in fact didn't act and help out a pokemon who had gotten hit as hard as Ophelia had. "Yeah.... Jeez that Beedrill really came out of nowhere. When Oscar let it slip that the Beedrill was his mom's though, I kind of understood where his aggravation comes from. With a parent who has strong pokemon like that.... Oscar must have some pretty high expectations, if not from his own parents, then from himself, to be just as good of a trainer, if not better...." Darren said quietly. He honestly felt bad for the boy if that was the case. Darren of all people could sympathize living with parents that had high expectations.
He gave a light sigh and scratched his head, watching as Ophelia seemed to enjoy Sable's attention as she carefully stroked the poison pin pokemon's quills. "Ni~" Ophelia sighed contently. This was well worth getting beaten up by that beedrill. However after a moment, there was a voice behind them who cleared their throat, and Darren recalled the boy who'd been laughing next to Sable earlier. It was this gesture that seemed to remind Sable to introduce herself and her companion as Sable Voss, and the loudmouth partner Jin. Darren had to fight back a horrid case of the giggles at the comedic exchange between the two in the midst of Sable's introduction, covering his mouth and letting out a small snort.
He quickly got ahold of himself though as Jin came over to more formally introduce himself as Jin Cross, kneeling down to their level and holding out a hand, which Darren happily took after carefully shifting Morpho so she could rest comfortably in one arm. "It's nice to meet you both~ You've already met Ophelia of course, but that's Flynn, Pascal, and Iris over there, and this here's Morpho~" He said, quickly introducing the rest of his team and the Metapod tucked in his arm. Jin then went on to explain the reason why they had come to investigate the battle, though Jin admitted that the "battle" was sort of a bad generalization since it was really too one sided to be considered a battle. However the point was that they seemed to have had a similar experience with another bug catcher, so they were curious.
"Hm, well your guess is as good as mine really." Darren shrugged, standing up as well. There was really no point in continuing to squat now that Ophelia was all patched up. Sable elaborated a bit more on their experience with the other Bug Catcher, and Darren couldn't help but chuckle at the Gyarados metaphor. "Mm, I would agree. Someone who talks high and mighty should at least have a strong team to back them up, otherwise they really have no business trying to order people around. That being said though... I'm really glad they didn't have anything we couldn't handle, otherwise that would have been really frustrating... I'm trying to search for pokemon around here and fill up the pages of my pokedex so if I couldn't get in, it'd be really hard to record the data of the pokemon here. Professor Oak asked me to do it, and it's... Kinda my dream to become a pokemon researcher like him, so I figured.... Maybe if I helped, it would be a step in the right direction. Besides, I want to learn as much as I can about pokemon anyways! So it's like catching two bird pokemon with one pokeball." He explained with a dorky grin.

Sable nodded a bit at Darren's point of view concerning the trainer he had to deal with. She could understand it well enough, but that didn't mean she liked it."I guess. Doesn't give him any right to be a bully, though. Hopefully having to go heal up those Pokemon he used will give other people some time to get stronger before he gets back,"she commented dryly, then shook her head."Don't get me wrong. I can completely understand the high expectations thing. I'd probably be going crazy if my parents also put pressure on me."Sable couldn't help but let out an awkward chuckle at that but soon continued onward with her explanation."Everyone's always wanting to be the best battler, at least where I'm from. Failing that, they at least want to be stronger than everyone else around them. It makes starting out difficult, since everyone wants to try and prove that you can't beat them and odds are they'll be right for the time being,"the teen mused as she tapped the ground a few times with the toe of her left boot.
The bit of awkwardness done as far as Sable could tell, at least for the time being, the teen gave Darren a light smile."Anyway, it sounds great that you're trying to be a researcher. Although it makes me wonder a bit what area of research you'll eventually specialize in, if you do at all."Once again the female trainer started musing and this time it caught the curiosity of Jin. Obviously the guy just said he wants to be a Pokemon researcher, so how much more specialized could you get? Apparently a lot more."I mean, just studying methods of evolution alone gives you a lot to work with. Then there's the effects of various items on Pokemon, new discoveries about how Pokemon breed, the different abilities Pokemon can have, the varying types and how they interact with one another..."Sable started to trail off for a moment, then blinked suddenly when she realized she had started rambling. She couldn't help but sheepishly laugh and rub the back of her head for a moment."Sorry. I guess I spent a bit too much time trying to memorize all that sort of stuff back home. Kinda had to since it's also important for trainers to know those things."
Jin gave Sable an odd look for a moment as he thought about something. He kept quiet for the time being, though, as his trainer ran her fingers over the balls on her belt before grabbing the Pokeball with the leaf design on it."I'll try to get my other team members introduced to you later, but for now I should at least have you meet my starter,"she explained, ignoring the fact that Jin was taking a few steps to the side as she positioned one arm so that as the Pokemon was let out of its ball it would materialize while being cradled by that arm. The autumn-colored Snivy looked up at his trainer a moment before waving once with one leafy hand at Daren and his Pokemon."I still haven't figured out a nickname for him yet and he hasn't exactly helped me figure one out for him but this little guy is my starter. He, uh, wasn't originally this color, though,"she explained, chuckling a bit sheepishly afterwards.

After all this stuff that's happened. Or worse, the Beedrill's first act being to quickly close in on Darren to give him a huge hug. XD

Darren nodded rapidly in agreement when Sable insisted that in spite of Oscar's possible pressures, it was not excuse to go around bullying people or trying to steal their pokemon. "Well yeah! Of course not, I wasn't saying that I forgive him for what he did to Ophelia, but... I'm just uh... Giving perspective I guess...." Darren bit the inside of his cheek and looked down at his feet as he rubbed the back of his head. Really he wasn't much better than Oscar. Certainly he was more polite, and he worked hard to raise his own pokemon, but... Well, when he got orders to steal pokemon from the boss, he couldn't really say no. It would make his family look bad, and they would be embarrassed, and Darren was already sort of the odd sheep of his adoptive family. "Urk...." Darren mumbled, suddenly looking a bit pale. Flynn ran over to his side and glanced up worriedly at the boy, who attempted to give the Charmander a weak smile. "It's alright Flynn, I'm just.... Not feeling so good... Must've been something I had for breakfast... Tuna egg salad maybe not the best thing first thing in the morning...." He grinned sheepishly.
It was only a partial lie, since the breakfast wasn't the sole cause of his current stomach issues, it was the pressure he felt suddenly that had upset his stomach suddenly. Thankfully Sable seemed rather distracted as she commended him for attempting to become a pokemon researcher and rambled on about the various types of research specializations he could take on. "Wow! I didn't know you could specialize in so many things! I'm gonna have to think this through a lot more..." Darren said in awe, all but forgetting his stomach pains from before. Sable apologized for her ramblings, but Darren easily dismissed her apology. "No need to be sorry! I'm glad you mentioned this, I never thought about trying to specialize in a certain branch of research. I mean, one day I want to be an expert on everything like professor Oak, but I should probably start small. I've been told I can uh... Sorta rush into things without thinking." He chuckled. "You sure know a lot! I never really went to any official school... My grandpapa taught me everything I know really." Darren subconsciously clutched at the pocketwatch in his vest. "He owned and ran a Daycare, and I worked with him and the pokemon there, so I learned a lot of first hand skills with pokemon, but I guess I still have quite a bit to learn!" He didn't seem too discouraged about that though.
Sable then promised to eventually introduce the rest of her team, but for now she started with her starter pokemon, a Snivy whom she still had yet to nickname. As the Snivy came out of it's pokeball though, Darren let out an audible gasp. "Wow!!! I've never seen that coloration on a Snivy! How did it change to this color?" Darren was impressed. Of course he'd seen and knew about pokemon occasionally having odd colorations , but he was still excited every time he saw a new one, even if it wasn't originally it's color, as Sable explained. Darren approached Sable excitedly to inspect, giving a small wave back as the Snivy waved to him. Meanwhile, seeing Darren get all excited over the Snivy's colors made Morpho curious, and se also examined the Snivy now that Darren was holding her closer. "A nickname huh? Well if it were female I'd suggest Autumn, but seeing as this one is a male, perhaps go with some more earthy nicknames? Or Tree types? Like maybe Oaken, or Maple, or--" Darren cut himself off. "Aheh... Sorry, I always helped people nickname their pokemon back at the daycare if they were having trouble. It's just so exciting, and really helps seal the bond between a trainer and their pokemon! ...B-but that's why I should really ask if you actually uh... Wanted my help. Oh jeez..." Darren took a deep breath and exhaled slowly to calm himself down, not wanting to overload his newest potential friend.
"A-anyways, like I said, I've been searching around for pokemon here, but I keep running into nothing but Caterpie and Metapod, and I've already caught them both because of Morpho, so I was thinking about heading back to Viridian City to see if I have better luck there. I didn't really do a whole lot of searching around there yet so I want to make sure I didn't miss anything. Are you uh... Looking to go somewhere in particular? I'd really appreciate the company..." He offered cheerily as a friendly request.

Jin couldn't help but chuckle at Darren's surprise about what sort of knowledge Sable had. It might have been news to the disguised Zorua as well, but he at least knew that she had more than a little knowledge about this sort of stuff. She just needed a reminder now and again, that was all."It would also help you figure out what is easier and harder for you to get a handle on. Goodness knows I wouldn't be able to memorize all the intricacies of breeding,"he commented, then had a confused look - complete with raised eyebrow - as Sable turned her head to stare him down."What?""I would have thought that you, of all people, would be more knowledgeable on breeding than most."Jin couldn't turn his head away fast enough to hide the blush that appeared on his face and covered his mouth with a fist as he had a small coughing fit from a bit of air going down the wrong pipe."I think I'm a bit too young to know everything about breeding,"he sputtered while his trainer started laughing.
Her bit of revenge for the flirting he had done back when they were traveling around Ezra and Avonlea finished, Sable let her laughter subside as Darren reminisced some about his own learning experiences. She smiled softly as the other teen clutched at a spot on his vest and figured whatever was there was probaby pretty important to him."He sounds like a good and kind man. The sort of person everyone should at least meet once,"she said kindly, trying to picture all the small Pokemon running about within a daycare area. It really was an adorable thought and if it weren't for the fact that she'd probably spend more time cooing at the little ones instead of actually doing her job it seemed like an area that she'd like to at least attempt to work in. At least, if it weren't for what she wanted to do already. That little random thought passing through soured her mood slightly and turned her smile sad.
The red and gold Snivy puffed out his chest as the new guy admired him, then made his way up his trainer's arm so that he could curl around the back of Sable's neck. It'd take more walking around for Darren but he'd have an easier time seeing the grass serpent's coloration that way."He grabbed some sort of crystal that had all these different colors reflected in it. It didn't look like opal or quartz, though, so I'm not sure what it could have been,"the female trainer explained but the Snivy didn't really care about what the girl was saying. He cared a bit more about the advice on nicknames the male was giving. Oaken didn't seem too bad of a name but when Maple was suggested the Snivy gave Darren a look like the male was nuts."Sniiiivy! Snivy sni,"the grass type said more than a bit sassily, causing Jin to snicker more than he probably should have. Sable took a bit of offence to the tone and pursed her lips as she looked at the grass Pokemon.
Snickers finished, Jin turned to the two humans chatting."I'm... I'm sure that Oaken's fine for now. If he decides he doesn't like the name later he'll find some way to make it obvious,"the disguised Zorua explained with more than a bit of amusement - knowing exactly what the Snivy said as far as his view on the name Maple went - as Darren tried to calm himself down. The Snivy nodded in agreement, feeling annoyed that he actually had to have a translator but glad the Zorua could explain things to the humans in his stead. At least as long as he didn't bend the truth too much to fit in with his own act. Although Jin couldn't help but chuckling again as Darren explained his difficulties in recording the Pokemon in the forest."That's funny. We mostly encountered members of the Weedle line while we were coming through here. Not a single Caterpie for us. Sis did find a Pikachu, though."The teen smirked a bit as, after his tacked-on comment at the end, he sidestepped and leaned forward to avoid being smacked on the back of the head by his trainer.
Sable gave Jin a light glare as she missed swatting his head. She might have gotten him if she didn't have a Snivy on her shoulders."How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that?""At least once more, sis~"Sable gave a growl that might have put a Poochyena to shame at the disguised Zorua's reply, then huffed in defeat before turning to look at Darren again."Well, like he said, I did encounter a Pikachu out here... But I'm not one to catch Pokemon I won't raise unless I have a good reason. Like confining a troublemaker that likes to electrocute random people..."The teen's voice quieted to a mutter during that last sentence and once she was done, she chuckled sheepishly and rubbed the back of her head once more, taking care not to bump her Snivy boa."Anyway, yeah, it's no problem. We were actually heading out that way anyway, and it's not like we're in a rush. Besides, it'll be good to have someone else with you in case anyone tries to push you around again."Sable couldn't help but offer a grin as she finished speaking that time around.

Darren blinked a few times as Sable and Jin seemed to have an awkward conversation about breeding, which Darren didn't quite understand since he was still oblivious to the fact that Jin was a Zorua, so abut half their banter went right over Darren's head as far as the implications that were made. Honestly, Darren was pretty sure he didn't want to know...
Instead he somewhat changed the subject to his extent of knowledge on pokemon, as well as the source, smiling as Sable complimented his grandfather, nodding in agreement. "That he was. Gosh, and he would tell the most ridiculous stories and convince you they were true, and he always made the most wonderful berry stew, good for pokemon, and humans!" Darren chuckled, fondly recalling all the memories of the old man. Even in death his grandfather still managed to bring a smile to Darren's face. Speaking of learning new things though, when Darren admired Sable's Snivy and asked how it had changed colors, Darren listened intently as she described some odd rainbow rock that the Snivy had found. "That's interesting! I'll have to keep an eye out for something like that! It could be worth investigating. Hey! Maybe that could be my research specialty!" Darren suggested with a smile.
He then attempted to help Sable with her nicknaming troubles by giving a few suggestions of his own, though the candidate "Maple" clearly seemed to make the Snivy quite furious, and Darren raised his arms up in defense. "Okay! Okay! S-sorry, I'm just making suggestions here, if you don't like them then you're free to deny them!" He didn't quite understand that the Snivy was more offended by the suggestion of a more girly name, in it's opinion anyways. However Oaken seemed acceptable, at least according to Jin.
While Darren could only find Metapod though, sable apperently had the opposite issue, only able to find Weedle, although she had also found a Pikachu as well. "A Pikachu?! Wow! That's so rare in these woods... I hope I can find one!" Darren said in awe. "Heh, maybe I kept defeating all the Metapod and Caterpie, and you kept defeating all the Weedle, and so either of us found what the other was finding? Or something weird like that." Sable seemed more focused on the fact that Jin had called her sis though, and only after reprimanding the boy, moved on to confirm that she did in fact encounter a Pikachu, and a troublesome one at that, from the sound of it. Darren chuckled at that. "Ah yeah, I don't blame you for not catching it if you didn't think you'd raise it. Still, I'll catch pokemon and release them after so that I've recorded the data." Darren explained.
He was happy to hear that Sable was headed in his direction and willing to come along anyways since they weren't in a rush. "Heh yeah, it's harder to bully people in numbers I guess, but I doubt we'll run into any territorial bug catchers in the city." Darren suggested with a chuckle, though as he turned to head towards the entrance of the forest, he noticed that Oscar seemed to have dropped a few things in his speedy exit, so Darren retrieved them and stored the items away in his bag. "So uh, why don't you like to be called Sis?" Darren asked to make conversation as he began to head back out of the forest.

Darren's question made the teen flinch for a moment but she didn't give an immediate reply. She did have a reason, but even she knew it wasn't a very good one. The disguised Zorua couldn't help but chuckle at the sudden action and smirked at her."Yeah... What's so bad about me calling you sis, sis?" he asked with a smirk before sidestepping to avoid getting whacked with the girl's hand. Sable was getting a bit irritated but tried to at least avoid directing that foul temper towards Darren. "Only certain people get to use those sort of names towards me. Jin isn't one of them,"she lied once Jin was once more out of range of her strikes. She couldn't exactly say that she didn't like the idea of a guy she had a brief crush on viewing her only as a sister, especially with the added complication of said guy being a Pokemon. Cyrus lurked in the bushes, trying to assess what the trainers nearby might have that might be worth stealing. However, he soon got a response from kail, reading the text. What?!? A festival?!? Cyrus gawked a bit at the message, then hit his forehead with the palm of his hand. How could he forget about such an event?
