Fremy was crossing out of the Pallet valley and over the northern mountains by late that afternoon. It would be a full night and days ride at her current speed before she left those very same mountains and descended back into the low lands just outside of Viridian city. Rapidash could travel for days out autopilot but Fremy herself would need to rest at some point. The client thankfully wasn't expecting her for at least another two full days. That gave her a about a twelve hour lag for sleep. In the mean time a meal of bread and jerky would suffice to keep her going.
Night was soon to follow bringing with it the nocturnal pokemon of the area, Rattat and HootHoot mostly. Nothing of any concern. Besides she had a Noctowl for support so even in the pitch black of a moonless night she wasn't truly blind. Noctowl tonight might not even be needed tonight, the moon was in full and the sky was clear. The sun hadn't even fully set before stars began piercing the vial between night and day. this was the most beautiful part of the day. A sky smeared in color caught between death of the day and the birth of the night.

Stepping out into Pallet town, Eli let out a large huff of air. He was finally on his way to being a Poison and Ghost specialist. Looking down at his newly acquainted Bulbasaur, the pink haired enthusiast laughed in excitement. 'Well! You and I are stuck together, so I might as well give ya a cutesy name, yeah!" he almost shouted. "How about Bacchus, huh? Like that?" he asked, petting the calm Pokemon on the head vigorously. "...saur.."replied the small, much calmer half of this duo. In all honesty, Bacchus didn't really care.
Eli continued to walk around the town, taking in its cheerful atmosphere. It was nothing like home. Lavender Town always had a residing mist over it, but this place was overflowing with sunlight. Something, however, caught his eye. A balloon drifting through the wind. Wait, was it really? Looking closely, Eli noticed it was actually a Pokemon being blown about by the winds, and it looked rather injured. He'd seen them around Lavender Town before, but he'd never imagined that one would float this far on its own. "Oi, Bacchus. I'm gonna hold you up and you grab it ok?" he instructed, resulting in an eye roll from the Bulbasaur. Elijah wasted no time, though, hoisting up the Pokemon and holding it above his head, allowing Bacchus to use his vines to bring down the already injured Drifloon. Getting a closer look at it, Eli determined that the poor thing must've been attacked and got separated from its group. Digging in his bag, the enthusiastic teen took out some lemonade. His mom made him plenty for his journey to Pallet Town. Quickly allowing the Drifloon to down the sweet liquid, Eli watched as it sprang back up, renewed.
"Hey hey, aren't you a cute little thing? Guess I'll just have you stick with me for a while huh?" he pat the Pokemon gently, taking out one of the pokeballs that had just been giving to him. Pokemon were willing to be captured, right? This Drifloon didn't appear to want to go anywhere. Tapping the ghost gently on the head with the ball, Eli watched as it was absorbed in, and the ball began glowing with a bright white light, eventually fading away. "Well. That was easy. Guess fate wanted you to have another friend, eh Bacchus?" he joked, now letting out the Drifloon from its Pokeball. "I don't much like keeping my friends all locked up, so how's about you float with me.....Leia?" he made up the name on a whim, resulting in a happy response from the ghost type Pokemon. Now he could really make progress.

It took Eli no time at all to become friendly with this new Drifloon. He was very charismatic when people didn't focus on how he looked. He turned to the Drifloon floating next to him, smiling at it. "How'd ya get all the way out here, I wonder?" he thought out loud, picking up his lazy bulbasaur like a puppy, holding him close to his chest. Bacchus quickly fell asleep in Eli's arms, and the teen laughed out in excitement. Another quick look around the town before he left would be good. He wanted to leave a lasting imprint of this place in his mind. Of course, this is where he first obtained Bacchus and Leia, so how could he ever forget it? Holding Bacchus with one hand, Eli moved to grab onto one of Leia's strings to prevent her from being blown away by the wind as they traversed.

Eli felt as if it were time to start heading out. He chuckled, taking a final glimpse at this small, quaint little town. It wasn't home, but in all honesty it was a very nice place to be around. He smiled, taking out Leia's Pokeball. "Just chill in here for a bit okay? Hopefully I'll make it to the next city soon!" He smiled, returning the balloon Pokemon to where she wouldn't be blown about by the wind. He then looked to Bacchus, who looked up at him lazily. "Ready to go to the next city over? I passed it coming here." he scooped up the Bulbasaur in his arm, holding him by his side. With haste, Eli made a mad dash towards Viridian City. >> exit

Stepping back outside, it didn’t take Lafayette long to relocate Noah. The little Oshawott was sat with his back against the nearby wall of the lab with the walnut between his flipper feet, his shell between his paws like a blade as he took aim. He had one eye closed, focusing hard before trying to chop down to crack the nut. Unfortunately his aim was off and the nut went flying off to the side instead. The little otter puffed his cheeks as he hopped up and retrieved the nut, giving it a bit of an unhappy look. Darn, why did these things have to be so tough?
"Still yakkin’ on tha’ nut, mate?" Lafayette remarked, strolling over and scooping the pokemon up into one arm. Noah gave a surprised squeak, frowning and giving the man a dower look as he was set on his shoulder. Po’h Noah. Here." Before the Oshawott could challenge him, he took the nut and placed it between his hands. With a press and a ‘crunch’ the thing was opened; Lafayette was a rather strong individual despite his age. Good genes and hard work throughout his life on the railways had probably made it possible. "There yah go." He remarked, fishing out the contents and giving them over to the now grateful Oshawott. Someday, Noah would get those nuts opened on his own but for now… he had to admit that he was grateful for the assistance. While he enjoyed his treat, Lafayette help up the pokeball for him to see.
"We got us a new cobbah, Noah. Let’s mee’ the new pokie, yeh?""Osha!" Noah cheered. Good to see that the otter agreed. With a flick of his wrist, he sent out his new Bulbasaur, the widest of grins appearing on his face as the little bulb pokemon looked up at her new trainer with a bewildered stare. "Bulba?"
Lafayette dropped down into a crouch, extending a hand to let the Bulbasaur give him a sniff. "Well ain’ yeh jus’ a beaut?" The pokemon hesitated before giving his hand a little nuzzle. She seemed to pick up that he was her new train, though was honestly a little startled by his manner of speech. It was quite odd, something she certainly wasn’t used too. Still grinning, the man picked her up and returned to standing, looking her over a moment. "Hm… Now wha’ migh’ yah be…," He murmured, lifting her up a bit and taking a bit of a peek. Some pokemon you had to look to figure out their genders and all. He lowered her back down, an eyebrow quirking as he smiled. "A shelia, yeh? " That was great! Dova would have someone to girl chat with now, if that was something pokemon did. If anything it evened out his team which was always nice. The Bulbasaur just gave Lafayette an odd look as he set her back to the ground, giving her a reassuring pat on the head.
"Think I’ll call yeh Eve. Think it’s fittin’ fo’ yah." He remarked. Eve gave him another little look before her head seemed to dip in agreement. Noah gave a little cheer of his own, hopping down from his perch on the Aussie’s shoulder to greet the new team mate. Allowing his pokemon to converse, Lafayette took a step back and glanced around. The task of gaining his starter and a pokedex had been easy enough; it was probably about time he got in contact with Juliean. Hopefully, the man wouldn’t be in a foul mood…

Flicking his wrist downward, Lafayette took a look to his X-Transceiver, swiftly pushing through the buttons until he found Juliean’s contact information. Or at least, what he’d assumed was his information; reading comprehension wasn’t exactly a strong skill of his, nor had it ever been. But what he lacked in reading ability, he made up for in exceptional memory. Which is how he recalled that his employer’s number was the seventh click down. Soon the number was ringing with the little screen blinking as it attempted to connect the call. One ring, two ring… Lafayette frowned. Three rings, four rings… well that wasn’t a good sign.
Juliean, for all his annoying ways, was a rather prompt individual. If he hadn’t picked up his phone by two rings, then he was either incredibly busy or something else was going on. Lafayette couldn’t help the frown that crossed his face as he hung up on the seventh ring, gaze shifting around his surroundings for a moment as he thought. Noah and Eve were still chatting with one another, though it looked more like the Oshawott was doing most of the talking. A moment or so of thought and he proceeded to try and call again; he wasn’t sure exactly what else the man wanted him to do and it wouldn’t benefit him to just run off willy-nilly. Frowning he tried to call the man once more, tapping the communicator and waiting patiently.
Eve had shifted her attention from the Oshawott up to her new trainer, curious as to his lack of interaction. He’d seemed so thrilled before, this sudden focus was surprising. Noah had settled down once Eve became distracted, only giving Lafayette the briefest of glances. He’d been with him long enough to know what was probably going on, though a weird shuffling sound caught his attention, head snapping in the direction. In a minute he was viciously yanking at his trainer’s pant leg trying to get his attention. "Osha! Osha sha osha!" Lafayette just frowned, gaze still glued on his communicator, other hand swatting down at the otter. "Nick off, Noah." The man murmured, keeping his focus. Noah puffed his cheeks, clearly displeased that he was being ignored. He was right there-

"So tell me, because it’s funny." A voice suddenly sounded, causing Lafayette to drop his hand and look over his shoulder. He wasn’t one who was easily startled, but this particular voice was one he was expecting to hear through his communicator… not the area surrounding him. He raised an eyebrow just a bit at the sight of the older man; a fellow who looked like he belonged as a scientific assistant in the local labs themselves. The only thing that stood out majorly about him was the patch of white hair misplaced against the natural black. It was almost like looking at the backside of a skunk, though Lafayette would never openly say that out loud. The man certainly wouldn’t appreciate it.
Juliean stood only a foot or two away, one hand folded behind his back while the other adjusted the glasses on his face, a sharp dark-blue gaze staring Lafayette down from behind the frames. Lafayette frowned a bit, turning so that he could probably face the fellow, hands resting on his waist. Noah remained clinging to his pant leg with one paw, gaze sharpening to as ferocious a look as he could manage while his other grasped his shell at the ready. Eve just blinked, looking confused as she stared up at the stranger. Juliean took no notice, displeasure etched on his face. "You spend all your life around trains, but can’t figure out how to ride the right one, hm? Tell me Lala, what am I missing here?" The man drawled, giving the Aussie a look. It was fairly clear it was meant to be a rhetorical question that Lafayette couldn’t answer. And so, the blonde just shrugged, eliciting an even sharper look. "I am, after all, fairly certain I told you which train to take. Painted a beautiful image so that wouldn’t be subjugated to your awful enemy: reading." Juliean practically hissed, his anger fairly evident in his tone.
"And yet… you’ve still failed. So. Two days, hm? I would just love to hear how you managed such a feat." He remarked sarcastically, strolling straight up to stand right in Lafayette’s space. He was only about an inch or two taller than the younger man, but he certain had an air of authority that he knew how to throw around. Of course, Lafayette was fairly use to it and didn’t budge from his stance, head only lowering a bit as he quirked an eyebrow at Juliean. "Pokedex. Now." The man demanded leaning forward so he was inches from Lafayette’s face, a hand thrusting out with palm up as indicator. Lafayette frowned back, pulling back so that he could actually reach into the tool belt at his hip, retrieving the device and setting it in the science man’s hand. "There yeh go mate." He replied with a subdued tone, still watching the man as Juliean nodded and took a step out of his space, snapping the device open to look it over. His anger seemed to soften, head nodding along as he went about his inspection.
"Very good." Juliean remarked as he flipped through the device like it were second nature, ignoring the odd look he was receiving from the younger man. Noah kept his grip on his trainer’s pant leg while Eve gave a curious ‘Bulba’ in response to the new comer. This drew the man’s attention briefly, an eyebrow arcing in response. "Ah… you got the little onion bulb… thing. Cute." Juliean remark, snapping the pokedex shut and practically chucking it at Lafayette. The Aussie caught the device hap hazardously, a little surprised that the man would toss it so carelessly. Without giving the blonde a chance, Juliean had already turned on his heels and started walking away. "As much as I’d love to reprimand you for every damn minute you’ve already wasted in your two day delay, we unfortunately don’t have any more time to actually waste." He remarked, one hand flickering up and waving in gesture for Lafayette to follow along. Lafayette was still frowning, giving his pokemon a quick glance before starting to tread after the man, returning the pokedex to his belt. Well… that wasn’t too terrible a start.

They walked in silence as Juliean moved towards the edge of town. It wasn’t long before Lafayette caught sight of the Alakazam underneath a nearby tree, eyes shut as it seemed to be in meditation. Lafayette recognized it as Juliean’s and paused as the man approached the pokemon with a level of indifference. He clearly had no problem interrupting the creature. It didn’t seem to mind, instinctively opening an eye as its trainer approached. The man gestured and the pokemon nodded, a box suddenly materializing in the air and into his hands. Satisfied, he turned back around, waltzing over and thrusting the package into the blonde’s hands seeming to ignore the ever increasingly confusion on his face.
"Here. A little care package for you." Juliean remarked, stepping back and folding his arms behind his back, an eyebrow quirking in disapproving annoyance. Lafayette just quirked an eyebrow at the false display of benevolence. "Plus, it’ll be easier to work you to death if you’re properly equipped for it. So here." The blonde huffed, opening the box and taking a look at the contents inside. It was a few odds and ends though the thing he most easily recognized items were pokeballs. There were a few different ones, with different patterns and designs that he didn’t quite recognize. With the slightest curiosity, he picked them up and looked them over, trying to figure out what the big deal was. They just looked… fancy. Was there a reason for that? Juliean smirked. "You look so dissatisfied handling so many balls at once." Juliean jeered. Lafayette just rolled his eyes, expression unamused. Typical really. Juliean didn’t seem to care just giving a wave of his hand. "They’re special balls, useful against certain type of pokemon and in certain situations. I’ll let you figure them out."
"Oh yeh?" Well that was interesting. Not that he knew the difference, but Juliean was hardly one to lie about things. Twist words and be ambiguous? Sure. Lie? Not so much. He rummaged a bit more, identifying the other items; some rocks that looked like eggs, a candle and a couple of beverages. "The other items will help boost your pokemon’s power levels. Again, I will leave you to figure it out." Juliean chimed, clearly reading the younger man’s expression of confusion for what it was. ‘Figure it out yourself’, the standard tactic. Shutting the box and tucking it under his arm, Lafayette gave him a curt nod. "Ta feh the items, mate. Should make levelin’ a piece of piss."
Juliean gave him a look for that phrasing –even after a year he still marveled at the slang he used- shaking it off and turning to walk again. "Don’t thank me. We’re so far behind, it’s pretty much a requirement that I supply you with these things." He stopped in front of his Alakazam who was now on its feet ready to move as well. "I’d rather not think about the struggle of such work."

"And while we’re on the subject of ‘work’. You’re first task is to get me some of those nifty little things called ‘badges’." Juliean turned back around giving air quotes as he mentioned badges. Lafayette blinked, head tilting the side in confusion. "Badges? Fe’ wha’?" The man’s face exploded into a sly grin, gaze narrowing as a bit of a glint occurred in his eyes. "Knowledge, my dear Lala. Knowledge." He remarked in a rather enthusiastic tone, hands clapping together in excitement as he spoke.
"You see, those uniquely ornate pieces of metal possess this impressive ability to control pokemon up to a certain power level." He walked with a sort of thoughtful look on his face. "How does that work, I ask you? Clearly there must be something more to those little pieces of metal they pass out to those they deem ‘worthy’." He paused, straightening up and giving an exaggerated sigh of disappointment.
"Unfortunately, the league doesn’t seem willing to share its secrets of pokemon mind control. Go figure, hm? Tragic really.” He frowned, shaking his head expression briefly annoyed. "I’ve got more important things to do with my time and you don’t, so I’ll have you go and get them. The first three, preferably." He offered a cocky smile. ”It’ll be fun for you I’m sure. Maybe you can find things to fix along the way or whatever stupid things you like to do when you’re not doing the job I’ve hired you for. Right?” Which was code for 'focus on the task at hand and don't you damn well dare muck around anymore'. Lafayette could tell that well enough.

Lafayette stared tentatively at the man, expression unreadable. He actually seemed to be thinking about the orders –because they were just that, orders – before finally his head lolled up and down in a confirming nod. He raised a hand and yoinked his hat off to run a hand through his hair, replacing it firmly on his head.
"A’igh’ then, I’ll give it ah burl." He remarked, taking a step back. Juliean quirked an eyebrow his expression ambiguous as he stared the Aussie down before nodding and turning to his Alakazam. ”Good. I’ll contact you if I need anything. Do avoid getting yourself into trouble. I’m not interested in scraping together bail either.” Lafayette just quirked an eyebrow of his own, giving the man a bit of a look that seemed to suggest that was hardly a concern. Juliean ignored it as he nodded to his Alakazam. The pokemon looked between the two individuals with a lazy stare before raising its spoons and promptly teleporting itself and its trainer away.

"Earbashin’ knockah." Lafayette grumbled, glancing down to his pokemon who were still huddled at his side. Noah gave a little ‘Osha’ of a agreement while Eve continued watching in uncertainty. She had no idea who Juliean was and first impressions hadn’t left her quite certain what to think. He gave them each a little smile of reassurance though, gesturing that they follow as he started to walk. "C’mon mates. Let’s get movin’." First things first; he’d need to find a gym to commit to memory what they looked like. Or at least to have an idea. Hopefully there’d be one in the town over to achieve just that and maybe, he’d get a little training along the way.

Finally! Back in Pallet Town! It’d been what… only a day or so since he was in this town receiving Eve for the first time. Lafayette considered for a moment dropping back into the lab and fetching another starter if he could –not that he had any of those nifty chocolate bars for trading- but maybe the man would be generous like that. Or not. There were other newbies looking to get themselves starters after all.
Dismounting from Micah’s back, he gave the Arcanine a pat on the side. "Thanks mate. Take a res’." He remarked, pulling the hound’s ball out and returning him to the confines of it. With that taken care of, he scooped Noah back up onto his shoulder and headed in the direction of the train station. Judging by the time, they were just early enough to catch the next train; assuming they weren’t running on a different schedule.

To the ticket counter they both went. Lafayette tapped his fingers against the top of the counter as he waited for the payment to process and a ticket to be distributed. There seemed to be quite a few people on their way to the faire as well; there were families with children dressed like princesses and squires, provoking a bit of a grin to his face. Noah was looking as well, wiggling about and flailing his candle item about excitedly. In fact, it almost looked as though he were wielding it like a sword of some sort. He was probably getting into the role already. A brave otter knight out to save the pokemon world or some business. Lafayette chuckled at the sight. It was worth being excited for.

Finally the announcement chimed that the train had arrived for Anville Town to take people to the faire. Lafayette beamed a smile and snatched Noah up once more, following after the crowds to board the train. It took a bit of maneuvering but they found themselves a seat in the back of the train, without too much crowding. There were a lot of people but then again… the space outside of Anville was pretty massive. Hopefully the place wouldn’t be too packed.

MD hummed lightly to himself, fingers rapping in rhythm on the back top part of the bench as he waited. It certainly seemed to be taking Jubilee and Uriah a while… but then again, it wasn’t your average newbie trainer meeting. They were retrieving a specific pokemon after all; if it wasn’t there, then that meant they’d have to come back another day. Which was really a shame, as he would’ve much preferred to send the provider of said pokemon a message to his status as soon as possible.
She deserved it; she was probably worried. If picking up a phone and calling her was an option he would’ve done it in a heartbeat. But it wasn’t. MD knew well how Interpol information gathering worked and if they were truly dedicated to finding him, they’d be watching his associates like a hawk. He couldn’t risk that no matter how much it pained him to do so.
Eventually though the movement of the lab doors opening caught his attention, an eyebrow quirking as he saw Jubilee appear first, a wide grin painted across her face while an oddly colored Charmander tucked under her arm. Soon Uriah followed, his shirt folded up as a make shift bag in order to hold the items he’d acquired.
"I see you found her!" He chimed as he got to his feet, the pair halting in front of him. Jubilee gave an affirmative nod, moving the lizard from under her arm to hold her out in offering to their trainer. "Yup! Just like you described her boss! She’s a real cutie!" Jubilee gave the Charmander a little wiggle, earning another uneasy ‘Char’ from the poor creature. Uriah frowned, nudging Jubilee rather roughly. "Stop shaking her, she’s not a toy." He commanded, earning a yelp and a glare from the girl.
While the two proceeded to glare and argue with one another, MD took the Charmander from Jubilee’s grasp. He held her up gently, a grin of his own spreading across his face as he looked her over. "You are a cutie, aren’t you? She always had a way of finding cool things for me." He murmured, a fact that quieted both the Zoruas and made them look at him with a bit of sympathy. MD’s attention just stayed on the lizard though, who gently cooed and wiggled in his grip.
Finally he set her down to the ground, letting her wander free for herself while he turned his attention back to Uriah, hand out and gesturing. "Alright give it here. You got a pokedex right?" The red-head blinked but swiftly nodded, fishing out the device and handing it to the man in question before maneuvering about to shove the rest of the goods in the satchel at his side. MD smiled, flipping the device open and giving it the once mover. A fresh pokedex was perfect; exactly what he needed. He’d have to fiddle with it later to get it doing what he wanted but for now, he just registered it to himself for future reference. No point getting one if, in the event he lost it, he couldn’t get it back.
