Maldryk felt a moment of panic when he saw the rainbow eyes of the gold, but that was all he felt. Thank Faranth, that was all he felt! But the question remained, why was she obsessed with him? Why was she hanging around with him instead of whoever Hers was? Headbumped again, he quickly and gingerly patted her on the head. There! Happy now?

The young smith cleared his throat when a red-haired girl approached and declared that the gold 'liked him.' No, really? "I can't imagine why," he said, looking at the hatchling with as much confusion as ever. "She's yours, I'm guessing?"

With the chaos apparently over for now the Crystallized green gave a little sigh and started to trot towards the female candidates. Humming softly she passed through the front rank and started to nose gentle at the girls she passed by.

Suspicious meanwhile had come to a halt just a little way short of the candidates. Just on the point where the boys and girls split he sat down on the sand and started to sweep the collection of youngsters with white eyes that occasionally flickered orange, it seemed he trusted them no more than he had done at the Touching!

A little way behind Suspicious the Bloodstained Egg started to shift and rock, and after a few moments a pale foot punched out through the gory surface before vanishing once more. After a few moments of stillness the foot kicked out again, widening the hole, and then the whole egg broke apart to reveal a handsome little blue. For a few moments he lay in the remains of his shell, shaking his head and getting his bearings, but soon enough his gaze locked on the candidates and his eyes turned from light blue to a worried yellow.

With her little blue companion and her shameless gold daughter Impressed, and the brown and green on the Sands looking peacefully for their matches (the the brown's white eyes were worrisome), Banshidheth's attention turned back to her eggs as a second blue hatched and his eyes shifted almost immediately to a worried yellow. What was this one's cause for concern? The gold greeted the little fellow with a rare, soft croon.

In a Weyr, the candidates would surely have been glad to see his blue hide after the surfeit of greens who had hatched early on. Even here, there were likely some glad to finally see another blue.

Well, well, hatchings were more exciting than he had first thought. He grinned, watching the three girls herd the brown about. What was that? The Brown had stopped, still and staring at something. Ehh, okay, bored now

Lesex shrugged, looking out at the sands, taking in the new life. A new green had broken out of her egg and that large shinny one was hatching. And what was that noise? A snort escaped him as his eyes fell on the green, the small green and was trying to steal someone’s clothing. Well, wasn’t she just a playful thing.

Another brown, though this one didn’t seem nearly as aggressive as the other. Chittering a bit, warning? Talkative? Time would see. More hatchlings and was their supposed to be so many out and tumbling about and getting into fights? Ehh.

Hey, crank was on the move and that hadn’t ended up in blood like the first time. Instead, the brown was submitting? Curled all about someone in the crowd and not moving. Whatever it was, it seemed to be announce the fight again was on between the greens. That and the fourth? Fifth? Well, one of the greens was rather insistent on getting a pair of pants.

The greens were more interesting, fighting and cracking eggs? Was that dangerous? A green and then something dark and tiny. And well.. that seemed to be the end of the fight. He tipped his head, watching the pair stalk off. They had stopped at least.

And that green had managed to slice up that one’s pants. Pffhs, well that was a form of entertainment. Poor sharding dim glow. What was she going to do with them when she got them off him? Wear them as a hat? A scarf? It was sort of cute and well, someone was clearly a part of the moral police. Lesex coughed into his fist, bitting down a knuckle to keep from laughing.

Jaric

All the angry hatchlings Impressed at around the same time, which meant that they'd be off the sands soon and couldn't hurt anybody. Jaric let out a slow breath of relief and looked around to see what other dragons were on the sands. His eyes were caught by a tiny dark dragon sitting among the eggs. "A black?" he murmured in surprise. "But I thought those never hatched without help?" He wondered if it was actually just a really dark brown, like the first brown that had hatched, but it was too small for that. It also seemed to have trouble standing, and everyone knew atypicals were weak when they first hatched. Not that there were many around Benden, so he'd never seen one hatch before. He was kind of sad he missed seeing it hatch. Maybe there would be another one, so he could see how that one's shell was cracked. The black turned rainbow eyes up towards the stands though, so someone up there just got to be a surprise Weyrling.

The gold dragon was twined around one of the male Candidates now. Jaric smiled at the sight. She seemed to really like him. When he caught the whirl of rainbow in her eyes, he almost gasped. Could she really...? But a girl walked over to her and started talking to the boy. That made more sense. Guess the gold was a tease.

The watchful blue from earlier managed to get the bright green to stop pulling off the one boy's pants, then Impressed to him. Now wonder he wanted his sister to stop bothering him! The green apparently decided she was done and went and Impressed too.

And suddenly Jaric noticed there were a lot less unbonded dragons around. Just a few on the sands, though there were still a bunch of eggs left. Would any of them choose him?

And with not but a withering stare and a gentle hum the two fighting greens broke their confrontation and impressed? That seemed almost too easy after their quarrel, which surely had only just begun. At least all the overtly violent hatchlings had impressed now and things seemed to improve; an atypical-- a small black, found his bondmate as well (and in the stands no less), things were really starting to catch up now! He had to admit that the Invasive Green’s behavior brought a stifled chuckle from Ceirys, it was a dragonet pantsing a candidate after all-- how could that not be amusing? Well, the little blue seemed to think not, and the two impressed without much more fuss. Then that beautiful lythe gold meandered through the boys and seemed to impress hers without so much as a glance in the young lady’s direction-would these two prove to be fascinated with boys? Then a new blue made short work of his shell, what would this new hatchling’s character be like, and why was he concerned? Ceirrys remained hopeful; yes more than half the clutch had hatched already, but there were still eggs on the sands.

-------------------------------------------

Carwyn couldn't help but giggle at the little green's behavior, a lymerick would need to be written about this... Almost halfway through now, would this be the clutch in which Ceirrys found His and could now the joy that it was to be bonded to a dragon? Alaiath sent a feeling of warmth towards Carwyn, It is a joy indeed to have this bond.

Vesin's eyes widened as she heard Vos say she'd be right back and then she walked over to the rainbow eyed gold. With a smile, and a little bit of jealousy, she shook Esre's shoulder. "Vos just impressed the gold!" She said excitedly. Of course, who wouldn't want to impress a gold? She had to admit she was jealous of her twin, but more happier for her than anything. Ves frowned a little as Vos asked her friends to look after them and Kylerr's comment only caused her frown to deepen. "Perhaps we should move closer to the girl's side now that those scary dragonets hatched." She said as she had already started moving, giving a small smile to Zen as she gave Esre's hand a small tug but loosened her grasp in case he wanted to stay closer to all the boys. She watched in amazement as a lot of the hatched dragons began impressing. Ves felt her heart squeeze with worry. There were still a few to hatch and a few dragonets still searching for theirs. It was then that the bloodstained egg hatched and she looked at it worriedly as its eyes changed to a worried yellow. Even the Gold seemed worried about that.

The manhandling of Fadrin as they dragged him off to the healers did little to rouse the injured youth but as Malta began to tend to him, the pain of wound cleansing and bandage application to his chest brought him back to the world. He groaned, afraid to move because of the pain, blinking through a haze of blood.

They would need to remove the remains of his eye and give him a patch... there was nothing they could do about the scars he would bear across his left cheek.

Conroith eagerly accepted the food as it was offered to her, greedily gulping down the meat in great mouthfuls. I know Mine will be fine. I am here and he is here. There is much to do! But I am hungry too.... I want more~

((If anybody wants to interact with Conroith or, uh, idk stare at Fadrin's grossness, feel free xD; ))

Laenara was almost jealous the way that the candidates had started making bonds and friendships. She had no siblings or really any family that she knew of and well, the thing with friends is that they could always be persuaded to turn against you. When the call had gone up that Hatching was occurring, Lae had been in her secret hiding spot, cuddling with Redd and trying to push down the feelings of sadness. After this Hatching, she had it in her mind to try to escape to the new weyr she had heard whispers of... Benden held no joy for her.

But the call had gone out and excitement washed away the feelings of despair. Racing back to her room, she threw on her robes and did her best to catch up with the group of candidates. The very last girl in, she moved to the side and stayed slightly away from the other group.

18 eggs. 18 chances at a new life. Redd was up above watching the action and sending his love. Laenara crossed her arms and watched as a blue and then a pair of greens hatched out. It was madness, it was chaos... More eggs hatched and Lae did a mental count. The gold cracked early and deep down, she knew that wasn't the dragon for her. Finally a green Impressed. And a black was accidentally knocked out of its shell. And the brown that was angry had found its mate. Then the greens and gold. A blue. Time seemed to slow and speed up all on its own as blue, brown, and green were on the Sands along with the unhatched eggs.

She was doing her best to blink back tears. The look of love and completion on each person's face was enough to undo the wall she had around her heart. Lae whispered to herself," So lucky. Find your match little ones. Find your heart."

Mazaah (Concept Entry)

Maz stood back, watching the new hatchlings thoughtfully. Greens, blues... color didn't matter, just that they were so... not bloody.

She turned to look at her fellow candidates – looking at their faces. Dissappointment on some (especially the girls, but who could blame them? Everybody wanted a gold), despair on others, and...

“Hey, are you all right?” she said to Laenara. If Maz wasn't mistaken, the girl looked... sad.

Vesresh

Well yes. Right, yes! Vesresh brightened, absorbing some of his sister's excitement. Yes, it was exciting! His sister was a Gold Rider. Weyrling. Either way! And... he noticed... she hadn't left the sands.

He smiled at Vosin, and felt... less bad.

“All right.” he said. He thought moving back towards the girls side was a great idea... so long as he didn't have to let go of his sister's hand, and she didn't mind him coming along.

Malta and Poecileth

Poecileth repeated to Kynigoth and Atibonth, pleased to see the impressions going much less... turmultuously. Privately, to Atibonth,

She sent a mental smile down towards Conroith as her rider began to, in the wake of the patching of the bleeding wound on the boy's chest, carefully clean out the remains of his eye – best to do that before infection took hold. [b

Malta nodded, wiping away the blood and fluid before telling the drudge that had brought the bucket of meat to bring more, and to cut it smaller. “You'll be fine. It'll take some getting used to...” she said, as she finished up, “But you'll will be fine.” Job done, she smiled. “do you want me to give you anything? You don't have to move – I'll make sure she gets fed... what's her name?”

It wasn't long before the Crystallized green had made her way through all of the female candidate. Looking slightly puzzled she turned and padded back through the ranks but once again she exited the other side of the crowd alone. With a thoughtful hum she scanned the Stands, but that couldn't be right could it? Humm. After a couple of moments she moved back through the female candidates and onward towards the Stands but rather than clambering up she merely walked along in front of them, her eyes sweeping the crowds in search of that perfect mind; it was here, she was sure it was here, she just had to find it.

The Bloodstained Blue meanwhile had got to this feet and was regarding the candidates before him with that same yellowed gaze. He made to move forward but checked himself before he had taken so much as a step. Shifting his weight he turned his head to look over and up at his mother and gave an uncertain creel; it was clear that something about the candidates was making him nervous, but quite what it was was decidedly less so.

The Laughing Egg meanwhile, toppled long ago, finally broke open. Its occupant was another green, slight and delicate and absolutely beautiful. The hatchling took a moment to clean pieces of eggshell off herself before climbing to her feet and letting out a high sweet call. For anyone who was keeping score it happened to be a perfect D.

Jikkiri and Lagoneth

Jikkiri hummed as he began to cut the meat into piees, as the nice person by the meat told him to do. It made perfect sense to Jikki, and it was amusing to Jikki to get the pieces nice and thin. Difficult, but amusing, and the reactions he got in his head to his efforts were equally so.

growled Lagoneth, snapping up the pieces of meat with ease. His vibrant eyes – blue, now with perpetual sparks of red – glittered as they started Jikkiri down. He declined to answer Poecileth, instead sending her an image, a visual representation of a growl and a reiteration of his motto.

Keep out he said to the older green, Go away

Jikki stroked the Brown's muzzle, unphased by the brown's reaction to the congratulations, and laughed. “I'm supposed to give you small ones for now.” he said, gesturing at the man by the meat, “Thats what he says.”

growled Lagoneth, shooting the man a flame-eyed glare, Images of meat, bloody meat, filtered through Jikkiri's mind. It was not something appetizing to Jikki, but the weight of the hunger that his new, yet undeniably familiar friend... more than a friend... possessed made his own mouth water at the thought.

“Okay, then!” he said, happily cutting off a bigger piece of meat than before, “But don't eat it so fast, okay?”

said the dragon, rumbling, but his eyes were blue again as he chewed and stared, always stared, at his Jikkiri.

Jikkiri, of course, had no problems with the dragons fierce gaze... because in his mind, he knew, the beast was curled around him, purring it's ragged, massive purr.

Both, in their own way, felt contentment.

"Well you look rough," Vee said conversationally as she and Baeveth approached Fadrin and Conroith. "What's your name again? I'm Vee, this is Baeveth."

Baeveth plopped down in the sand and allowed the healers to fuss over her. she said to her sister with a nod, idiot had to go and leap on me before I'd even hatched properly and I didn't have much time to take stock with her shredding me. Tch. Are you alright? Langoneth got your shoulder quite nastily from what I did manage to see.>

Vosin and Gold Killakeeth

She grinned as the comments from her group drifted over the sands to her. Vos watched him give an awkward pat to the gold's head. Her eyes crinkled with withheld laughter. Of course he didn't know, but she was going to tell him. "Specifically she likes your muscles. I'm Vosin, and that's Killakeeth. What's your name?" It was hard to introduce when she didn't know the boy's name herself. A matter easily resolved though.

The gold turned her head slightly to eye the dragon who'd bespoke her. As congratulations were in order, but it was from a green. A green. Just as neutrally Killakeeth replied to Poecileth, thank you. With a head pat from the handsome lad, she crooned happily. Then her rider approached and she, reluctantly, shifted over to lean against the girl's legs.

Vosin reached a hand down to stroke the soft hide as her dragon leaned up against her legs. She was a dragonrider! Just like her parents. Right now the only thing that could make her happier was seeing her own siblings also impress. A bit worried, Vos glanced back toward the group. It felt awkward talking to the boy now. They were suppose to get off the Sands, but she wanted to stay with her sibs. The smile on Esre's face reassured her some and she smile back. She noticed Ves leading back toward the girl's side a bit.

"Well we've gotta go. Nice meeting you and good luck!" A gentle hand rested upon the young dragon's neck as she moved off out of the main line of candidates. Vos eased her way around to catch up with Ves and Esre. "Hey guys! You're not leaving without me are you?"

Killakeeth cast one last glance back at the boy then padded along beside her rider. She lifted her head to see who Hers was speaking too. Who are they Vosin? She stretched her neck out toward the pair of redheads.

"These are my siblings," she told the dragon. "Vesin my twin, and Esre my younger brother. This is Killakeeth." Vos looked at her twin, hoping for acceptance. She never expected this! No matter what color she rose, her family was still special to her.
