Jack was somewhat pleased. It was better than the wasteland and running around looking for things. Just as long as the horsemen didn't decide to be as elusive as damn weapons tablets, he felt he would be okay. Now Jack had never actually faced a horseman befoere either, insanity bugs being the extent of their work he had seen. Reports told him that they were all humanoid and different levels of boring or disgusting, Famine especially.
Great. Maybe he'd get lucky and have an aggressively political talk with a Conquest horseman instead. How fun.
Sighing, he headed into the tower and told Owain to get ready for some new little puzzle to decipher, as all buildings in the wake of destruction would offer.

This purple water looked rather refreshing.
Oh. Oh yes that was the stuff he had been looking for. Combined with his new found maturity and the paranoia that still swept through him (though he seemed more capable of reasoning with himself now), this new pools effects had the death horseman feeling almost giddy as he staggered to his feet and stumbled his way back out. How many drinks had that been now? Four? Six? Ten? He had no idea, but he thought he knew how to find out.
Stumbling his way towards the door set in the pillars in the center of the room, Wrath grabbed ahold of the handle, turned it, and made his exit.
Pools: 4/4

The first thing he came across was a pool, which was curious as most towers wouldn't require things like this, let alone decript ones with locked gates and a lawn full of ******** fused bones. Jack squatted by its edge and listened to what he swore were mumbled half-formed words coming off its foggy surface.
(( You should taste it. ))
What are you, five?
And yet strangely, he felt like doing so anyway. Touch, taste, and smell were important parts after all, and he already had the other senses down. And so he tried a sip.
Nothing initially changed. Thoughts flickered through his mind, but they were idle things, distracting things. Perhaps a bust?

The corridor was full of pools, apparently. Jack wondered if this used to be a hot spot back in the day.
The next available one seemed to bubble with a youthful air--but that would be attributing human characteristics to an inaminate object. Body of water. Whatever.
He drank and felt his clothes grow a little looser. Weight loss? No, proportionally everything seemed fine. Size reduction? He tossed his blond hair out of his face--
--blond hair.
Jack stared for a while. His face didn't seem quite so terse, and the facial hair he had taken a while to cultivate was gone. Baby smooth. Stupid ******** blond hair. Time rewind. He couldn't place an exact time period on it, but it had to be before college at any point. Strange.
At least it wasn't poison.

He left the strange pool slightly amused . . . and found himself back at the pool of whispers.
He felt strange as he knelt and scooped up another gulp to have, his mind growing just a little fuzzier than before. Were things supposed to repeat? Had he taken a wrong turn? No, the room seemed different . . . Or had he not been paying attention? Of course he had been paying attention, who the ******** wouldn't, inner voice?
Then the inner voice made an inner shrug and an inner grin that he did not authorize, and Jack grew quiet.

Eye entered a strange lovely palace, she looked to the door and gazed at the strange words, till they made sense. This tower was madness, she sighed and wandered about till she found one of the stupid pools. She started drinking and of course it was her luck that she would end up in another dream like state as if she hadn't been in a dream like state for hours, just a short time ago. Her words slurred she said "I am so over this tower"

Noemi finally made it to a fourth pool, drinking the liquid and shuddering. Insanity.
Coupled with fear and sleep, she barely had the will to stand anymore. She made it to the door, pushing it opened with shaking small hands. Tears drying on her cheeks.
It was onto the next room and its trials.

And then back to the fountain of youth. Jack wondered if it would work its magic again and was not disappointed, though the change was much more noticeable.
He shrank several feet with a yelp; and his voice cracked. His hair was shorter at least, but--jesus s**t what was going on? Did this place expect him to seriously keep going? No. ******** that. Where was his girlfriend--
--right, she didn't like him anymore, and he wasn't supposed to either. Thanks, inner voice. Thanks, ******** memories. He tried to run a hand through his hair and was disappointed to find so little of it was there to let even the little gesture comfort him.
N-Not that he needed comforting. He wasn't scared.

And then he drank from the next pool and was afraid. Vaguely. Tense was probably a better word, his teeth grinding somewhat as he considered his surroundings. This was just a way to mentally break him down, Jack decided, yes, of course, and what a stupid test that was. He wouldn't break. He totally didn't break.
He kept checking over his shoulder every once in a while.

Eye moved forward like a sleepwalker till she found another pool, she started to drink from it and she grew older, and more mature. At her age it was still a strange feeling. Sleepy and older, but as a horseman she wasn't a old lady just yet. She pondered then what would happen next.

drink: 3/4 effect: [4][5][3] 3 - Pool of Sleep
There was fire, a lot of fire. Normally he wasn't afraid of it but he was under the control of the pools. He wanted to run. He wanted to fight it. He wanted to sleep but he watched it like a train wreck as it crept closer, threatened to cleanse the room like it had in the Sahara.
He didn't move.
But there was water nearby, Milo could see it. He took another sip. And made it worse.

And then, the final pool. By this point, Jack was way too young, way too jumpy, and way too close to nopeville. This place was just ******** with him now, and he was getting tired.
Then he wished he hadn't thought the word, because the next sip made him far too sleepy. s**t was crawling into his vision.
A strained noise left him as he leapt towards the door that suddenly appeared.

Eye found herself drinking from the sleepy pool again and was nearly dead on her feet, dreaming about mini pets and stabbing that green young man in the heart and all the only strange dreams she had had in the corridor of dreams.

drink: 3/4 effect: [4][5][3][3] 1 - Going with Age. Complete
But this deranged Milo finally found his footing, the fire in his mind and hallucinating sight was getting closer. The voices were getting louder - one female one in particular too - and the enemies that were so not like what he remembered watching were still all around him (Garo? Was this now Garo?). He didn't stay to find out and ran into another room.
Still everything was there, except the fire. But there were giant centipedes everywhere, a new threat. A new problem. They were ready to pile their bodies on top of him and squish him and there was no buffer of sand here. Just water. More water.
Milo slid to the pool and took another sip - his last sip that he would need to complete this. His body changed, grew and matured. His mind would have too if not lost to hopeless effects. Because his mind was a jumbled mess of fear and insanity and voices and hallucinations and the threat of sleep.
A last door opened before him though and his delusions displayed it with neon signs of odd hope. Hoping to usher him into new horrors of the tower. Milo ran to it and left.
