"Taiwan huh?" He swallowed a made in Taiwan joke, and moved on to the awkward process of attempting to stumble over her name, seriously hampered by having linguistic skills that ended at 'English' and 'related slang'.
"Qu.. Q...er. Sorry I'm gonna butcher the hell out of that." He admitted. "Nice to meet you, Q." He hoped she didn't mind the slightly Bond-character nickname, but it was, he thought, maybe better than sacrificing it on the altar of tongue-twisters. "I'm Falco." He offered a hand to shake, hesitated, bowed awkwardly because he wasn't sure if he was supposed to, and withdrew his hand, trying to pretend that any part of the exchange made it look like he knew what he was doing. "Rubbernecking means... it's like when you watch something because you know it's going to be awful... and fried dough... it's... I guess it's just bread dough but they do a quick fry and then people usually put stuff on it like cinnamon and powdered sugar or what have you. It's good. Horrible for you, but good."
It was, he reflected, a good damn thing he had never set his sights on being a cultural ambassador, because this was a real hashed mess

The weather was just enough of feeling like fall to make you want to cozy up to someone, and it was rare that Billy had two days in a row off. It meant they could stay up late and he wouldn't be exhausted for work the next day. The Eclipse party was the talk of the city, and everyone who was anyone should be there.
And Ladon had a someone to go with. Hand in his, he was glad it wasn't freezing out, and the sky was clear for the event. The sky was bright, twinkling, and while he hated the moon and the b***h princess on it, it was still nice to be out at night and not be patrolling.
What he didn't expect was for the eclipse to be so weird. The light shrank to it was nothing but a black void, and for a moment he saw odd specks. There had been some glasses given out, but he hadn't thought it would matter, and he wasn't about to pay for expensive moon googels he would only use once. While he thought he'd just see specks, he saw something more. A ....rabbit?
Just as he swore it would bop him on the nose, it vanished. Confused, he rubbed his one good eye and blinked. "Wow, that really messed up my vision." He said, looking over to Billy.

Billy wasn't really paying much attention - he was merely here as per Ladon's request. When it came to things dealing with the moon or other celestial bodies, Billy really wasn't all that enthused. Not any more anyway. Before becoming part of the Negaverse he might have had some interest in astrology, but now? No thanks.
"Me thinks you've had a bit much to drink," he replied, regardless of whether any of them had been drinking or not.

"Well, at least it's out there. You're doing it! That's great!"
Harmony had seen pictures and it was really pretty stuff. She respected his talent for sure and it was nice to catch up with an acquaintance, maybe a friend. She smiled broadly and tried to ignore Mr. Santini as much as possible. she'd earned a break, right? She'd been out there since it got dark at six and people started coming to mingle.
"No, don't worry about him. I'm volunteering tonight. Though you are looking at Espresso Yourself's newest assistant manager!"
She pointed gleefully at the shiny name tag pinned to her dark apron that had that title emblazoned under her name. It was a recent promotion but one she was rather proud of. She supposed it made sense because she was the shops most senior staff member, aside from Mr. Santini, but when he'd approached her about it she was surprised nonetheless. She counted it as no small matter of pride and the promotion helped when she thought about footing her own bills. Her mom and Tony could only help so much.
"Oh, yeah, and my mom and Tony got married. And I have a baby sister. She'd four months old. Her name is Sarah."
Orah didn't like putting off her friends so she could text, but this time was important. As pretty as the bunnies were, she felt uneasy about the whole situation. It would go a long way towards making her feel better if she knew her friends were okay.
"Be careful, Horatio!" She called after the kitten as she raced off to gather intel, a little frown on the teen's face before she turned back to the patrons of the shop. Well... Horatio spent a lot of time running around on her own, she should know how to take care of herself. A sigh breezed past Orah's lips as she smiled at a customer and took his order, turning to head for the back and the tea station her brother was manning.
When she came back out, her tray was loaded with cups of tea and hot chocolate that she handed out to the patrons spread out before the flower shop. Moon pies followed the cups with a smile that covered Orah's inner worry. Excited chatter floated about the seating area as people discussed what had happened, different theories buzzing from publicity stunt to mass hallucination. Any guess was as good as another, at this point.

It wasn't hard for ********* to play the role of a nice kitty who enjoyed being petted. She let out a short trilling approval for Anelie, but the adoring sound was cut quite short.
Some people said that animals could sense things which regular people could not. However, as the odd little rabbit-like creatures seemed to descend upon the crowd, the manx's fur fanned out until she was practically a ball of fluff. Her feline voice let out a rattled mewing sound, and even a momentary hiss as one of these odd creatures dared to touch her.
That was not normal, and if anybody could tell the manx was spooked by the situation, it had to be Lilith, who currently had the pleasure of having claws digging into her shoulder.

Björn considered the girl, thinking very hard about how she looked. She still looked a little shook up. And who wouldn't be? That was very, very strange.
"A kind of ...spirit ball from folk tales. They are in marshes, and lead others to death. Nothing about rabbits, though. I do not think that was them. There are no marshes and they weren't leading us. Maybe I am too ..."
He shook his head, unable to come up with 'literal'. "Come on," He put his wide paw to the small of her back and lead through the crowd if she was willing to come. " 'Warm hands warms the heart' and I smell coffee this way. I'll get us some. Or cocoa, or apple cider. Whatever they have. Even if you don't drink it much, it's good to nurse. Like the saying. Something to hold onto that is solid and warm."
I would normally offer an arm for the exact same reason, but I don't want to frighten her or seem creepy. She needs to feel safe. For himself, he was glad to have someone else to worry about. It kept his own concerns from looming large- he didn't feel safe. Not with odd little magic rabbits appearing and disappearing out of nowhere. He didn't feel safe with magic of any kind, really. It was marvelous stuff, but never safe.
"My name is Björn."
A few uncertain laughs and a clatter caught his attention, and Björn looked to where some people were motioning to each other about some guy that totally walked into a telephone pole. Were they taking cell-pics?
Maybe he could use some coffee, too. "One moment, " the strongman offered gently to the girl, moved through the crowd as easily and pushing aside corn stalks in a field, and picked the man up.
Oh, he smells like a liquor cabinet. "Come get some coffee."
He put a hand on the man's shoulder to guide him along with the pretty, frightened girl. They could all use some hot drinks and a sit down to calm down or .....sober up.

Arian had her attention completely until she saw a rather large figure cutting through the crowd toward her little booth. She broke out into a grin and asked her companion to hold that thought before racing over as fast as she could to him as he approached. She hadn't seen him since before she graduated and it seemed like their paths crossed entirely too seldom these days. He wasn't someone she was likely to forget.
"Bjorn!"
As ever he got an enthusiastic hug and a happy smile. She was genuinely happy to see him. Her violet eyes looked over the rest of the group. One girl looked familiar in the crowd, her former next door neighbor, but the rest of them...she wasn't sure. Still, Bjorn was a sight for sore eyes and she was happy enough to have other people at their booth.
"Hi!" She smiled brightly and waved. "I'm Harmony."
Everyone was ushered toward the table and, by default, toward Arian. She was a little sorry for leaving him the few minutes she had but not by much. Spotting another friend was just as good. If one was good wasn't two better? Of course! At least in her eyes.
"This is Arian. He makes beautiful jewelry. He and I were just catching up. Behold the power of coffee!"
So far being an adult and a college student was kind of awesome!

Things were going relatively well for Gwen, and there was no other place she'd rather be than here with her girlfriend, her head situated perfectly in Anandi's lap and prepared to accept the glorious food upon her palette. She didn't want to admit that she should have rejected the notion of being fed this way, but who was Gwen to reject such an offer, especially if it made Anandi so happy? It's not like she cared what others might have thought of them anyway, outside of their respected families.c
"You know, this is nice... I could get used to this sort of thing." Gwen said in a joking manner, looking up at the moon that was mere seconds from being eclipsed, and to savor the moment, she closed her eyes. "Just sitting out here, enjoying good food and even better company, no problems, no other duties... almost makes me wish that there wasn't that 'you know what' going on."
It would figure that she spoke too soon, as no sooner did those words fall from her lips, she heard Anandi shriek and felt the potato salad hit her face. She jackknifed, fists curled and prepared for a fight. Was it the Negaverse? The Dark Mirror Court? A mugger? What! She looked around, flinging potato salad off and saw none of these, but what she did see was a glimpse of a small, winged bunny, mere nanoseconds before it disappeared. Was that what Anandi was freaking out about? "You alright, Anandi?"

Food goes in mouth! The mouth!
Richard was dazed, confused, and now, being whisked away by a nice, strong, and very rigid man. He should have felt embarrassed and feared the repercussions of this leaking out onto the net, in which case he had no doubt that it would, but right now, his mind and attention was solely on keeping his knees firm and clinging onto the muscled arm that was provided him.
Not exactly how he wanted his night to go, but if ramming himself into a pole meant that a muscle-bound angel with golden locks and a sexy voice would be there to help him, then perhaps it wasn't so bad a thing. Certainly worth the humiliation, and while he was dazed and wobbly, he barely kept his fingers latched onto his phone, chuckling softly and not realizing that he was still patched through to Kor.
"You... are very nice man..." said the drunk Richard, his head bobbing around before resting against Bjorn's chest. No doubt that he was drunk now, and the failed poledance certainly didn't do much to help matters in the least, but at least he had his beefy angel to guide him. "Coffee's fine... sugar. Lots of sugar... sugar sugar... you know, I own a place called Sugar..."
He threatened to go crashing down when one of his knees gave out, and that caused the phone to drop from his grasp. "Coffeeeeeee..."

At least the work tonight -- while busy -- had been easy. Getting Mei a tea was as simple as reaching under the counter to haul out a fresh cup. He was about to hand over Mei's cup, push the cash into the box, his mouth forming the start of an answer, when Cait appeared bright-faced beside them.
Honestly, it was a bit of a relief. He didn't know what to say to girls at the best of times, in uniform. Out of it, and at work...well. He was hopeless.
So, instead, he reached under the counter and grabbed two more fresh teas, setting one in front of Mei and clearing his throat. It gave him just enough time. "I'm...I'm off. It's okay. I can grab three, and it's free just...get a table?"
Arian's smile was genuine as Harmony told him about her promotion "Hey congratulations" Arian said with a smile as Harmony told him of her promotion, his quiet voice genuinely happy for her. He'd been about to offer congratulations on the news that she had a new baby sister, but at that moment more people arrived at the booth.
Harmony appeared to recognise one of the group, a huge blond that made Arian aware of every bit of his five feet, 3 inches - seriously the blond looked like he was over a foot taller than him.
There was a red head with the tall blond, although from the smell of alcohol and the way that the other was going on it was obvious that the other was drunk - very drunk.
"Ah nice to meet you Bjorn" he said quietly, trying not to wrinkle his nose at the drunken red-head's antics.

It was funny the way Falco stuttered and stumbled over her name in the course of trying to get its pronunciation the way she had effortlessly done for her self introduction. Qiuyue couldn't help it really, laughing softly at the other's efforts as she waved off his apology. "Pleased to meet you too Falco. I guess Q will do fine. Sorry for the tongue twister there." That would be her bad really since she was essentially the one who had picked out the name for herself. Perhaps she should start thinking seriously about picking out an English name to go with her new identity if this was going to be a regular occurrence with the people whom she came into contact with.
Or maybe not since it was amusing her greatly anyway.
She decided that it would be in her best interest to refrain from embarrassing the man further when it appeared that he was trying to decide if he should offer her his hand or settle for a bow like she had done earlier, saying nothing of it this time as she smiled and mused over his explanation. "I see. It certainly does require a certain type of personality to want to put oneself through the eating contest. Fried dough..." She paused, a contemplative look crossing her face. "Is that a delicacy in these parts?"
In the end they'd decided by a majority of 2 to 1 on the food. Steve had taken the defeat of his suggestion for coffee in stride moving on to bicker good-naturedly with Chloe over where to go eat.
Marlin had left his two friends at it for a bit, content to soak in the music from the nearby live band playing jazz, but had pointed out a nearby pizza place when they had asked him for his opinion.
They'd ended up having pizza - hey the place had been conveniently across the road from their position and doing a special due to the Eclipse Viewing Party - too tempting to miss out on as Marlin had pointed out to his two friends and besides the music from the band made a nice backdrop.
They'd ended parting after the meal to head back to their various homes, with promises to see each other at the next theatre club meeting.
His Dad had shut up shop by the time Marlin reached back and walked over to the dark green door leading up to the flat.
It had been an enjoyable night out and had made nice change from his usual pattern of evenings.
Liryn had stayed on his branch looking out on the park for a while, but when it appeared that nothing further was going to happen, the little tabby bobtail finally vacated his perch.
As he trotted through the park he passed near a family of three who seemed to be in the process of packing up, realising that he wasn’t the only person who had chosen the park to end up at.
In fact the park wasn’t as quiet as he had thought other voices on the wind. On another night Liryn might have even sought them out and seen if they had a treat or two for a friendly cat. His belly was still full of cake crumbs though and he’d decided on other plans for the rest of the evening.
Like checking on the small collection of interesting things that he had hidden in a hole by the roots of a large tree, small things he’d picked up - a small stone here, a piece of string there, a feather or two and most importantly three small cogs that were just begging him to do something with them.
And there was the search for his senshi, a search that was still on-going. He hadn’t had much luck as yet, but he’d find his senshi eventually – he just needed to search harder.
Check on collection and then continue on the search for his senshi, with plans in place on what to do for the rest of his evening, Liryn trotted off at a jaunty pace.

Lily grinned, "I'll come over on the weekend and maybe stay over. We can stay up and watch movies and catch up on all we are missing in each other's lives since I moved out." Lily hadn't even been back to the house in so long and she certainly hadn't stayed the night, but she wasn't going to avoid it forever. Her best friend, her brother still lived there and that was good enough reason, since she couldnt drag him back to the big house.
Xander stood flush faced and uncomfortable, no one said he wanted more attention. If anything he wanted less attention and less ladies flocking to him. He had no idea what to do with such attention from any source and it just made him so uncomfortable and he felt quite idiotic at times. He was certainly no conversational genius. Xander signed as his sister grabbed hold of his arm and dragged him back into the shop along with Alex. He'd soon be adorned with a hat and lacking his ponytail, but for now it was worth it as both his siblings seemed happy.
"I don't know why I put up with this," he mumbled, but ended up smiling as his sister pointed out pieces of the outfit that Xander was wearing and pointed them out to Alex.
Phina appearred literally out of nowhere, "I thought you two were going to enjoy the rest of the city's lovely party."
"We are," Lily stated simply, "we are shopping for Alex over her and looking for a hat for Xander that would go good with his new clothes, so he can let his hair down."
Phina nodded and grinned, "I know just the hat, and while I'm at it, I've got another outfit in mind for the handsome brother of your."
Her teasing tone and micheivious glint made Xander nervous and he found himself glaring at both Lily and Alex. "30 minutes, and we go get something to eat. Just 30 minutes."
Harmony wrinkled her nose as she smelled the booze coming off of Richard. Who would get drunk at an event like this? In her opinion Bjorn brought him to the booth too late for coffee to do much good but she went and mixed up a little something for the guy anyway: a triple shot espresso with a peppermint twist shot to settle his stomach and some currant to help clear his head. She grabbed a water bottle too, just in case.
"Here."
Working near a college she'd seen all sorts of states of drunkeness and hangovers. Her cures were usually effective, after a time. She did not, however, give him the sugar he was asking for. Maybe if he could manage the tall shot of pure coffee and keep the water down. Then they'd talk sugar.
"It's best if you just drink the coffee like a shot and then nurse the water over time. Drink what you can as you can."
She was speaking more to Bjorn than to Richard who probably wouldn't know much what to make of her instructions with the state he was in. She gave the muscular blond a look as if to ask what he'd gotten himself into. then her eyes traveled to Arian and she gave him a reassuring smile. She had not expected this kind of an interruption.
