His tail flicked nervously as he turned to look at the dark leopardess. In the falling light her coat seemed so much darker, while his own only seemed brighter.
"The herd..."
His voice was low, barely audible as if he was embarressed to say it. He really didn't want to go back through, but if it was the best way to get back... There was no telling how long it would take to get back if they went around, or worse, what if they got lost?

"Their probably there to cross a river, I think they've dne a good deal of it for now, the sooner they pass he crocodiles, the better. "
She sais assuringly, but still not quite sure herself; they might have thought it was too late to cross, but soon there was a slight thudd of hooves, and they were in sight. There weren't as many now, a big deal had crossed, the end of the messy line could be seen, and it would be easy to walk around.
She pushes her nose against his should to steer him to the right way to the end of the line, quite aware he would not fancy crossing through them again.
"We can go behind, the line got smaller. "

Keone nodded, his ears back as he walked in the direction she had indicated. He still didn't like being this close to the herd, but at least it was better than going through them. He'd gotten through that, he could handle being this close for long enough to get around them.
"But if they go past the crocodiles...won't they get eaten?"
He shuddered at the thought. If the crocodiles were anything like snakes, he didn't wish that fate on anyone.

The wildabeast reacted shaking their horns and lowering their heads as the leopards got closer, but again seemed to decide against running, they were't so dumb to think walking leopards were hunting, but seemed to back away as a precaution.
"A good deal, the crocodiles look like logs, or go underwater, then just spring out of nowhere. Wildabeast are helpless when their in the water, like the zebras and gazelle. The crocodile can do what they want with them when their in there... On top of that, a few drown. "
The female had watched many crossings, though in most of them, she was with a dead wildabeast at her side, river crossings we're great times to hunt, the wildabeast, even if a hunter showed up, woulden't stop the crossing if they were in the middle of it, it was easy to catch so many as they toppled downhill to the river, or drag those that fell in the shallow water and slipped before the crocodile came. The last one she'd hunted in, she'd actually gotten two, only to find she coulden't eat that much and give one up to the crocodiles.
"I think they get together so there is too much for all to get eaten. More prey than predator, "

Keone shuddered and tried not to think about the crocodiles and the herds cross the river, though he did make a mental note to stay away from said river. It was bad enough having to look out for snakes, he didn't especially want to have to deal with these crocodiles.
Ears back, tail hanging silently behind him, the small leopard made his way around the herd, always keeping one nervous eye on the creatures should they choose to charge. His steps were light and cautious, always staying at Karama's side, warry of any movement that might trigger another stampede, ready to run if he had to.
"I don't think I'd want to see that..."

"Don't much either, its just a good time to hunt. "
She shrugged, though she looked directly at the herd, that was now a good few meter distance to their right, and the wildabeast seemed to cool off at the distance as well, no way the leopards could do anything unnoticed now, so many eyes on them..
Thats why Karama preffered sneaking around; sure, they were praybeast, but.. So many sets on you was just something a little.. uneasying. She never had much attention, accept in the middle of hunting, but just walking past was so odd.. She also usually only got near them to spook and hunt.
Keone probably didn't like it much either sense her 'brillian't idea of going wildabeast spooking had almost gotten him stepped on. With a flick of an ear, she started an easy trot, still going past the wildabeast than towards them.

Keone's tail flicked nervously, it had taken a great deal of control to not simply run past the herd, to get it over with and be past them. But there was an even greater fear of starting another stampede, of being caught in the middle of that terrifying herd again that had kept his gait at a walk.
Had he been alone, the nervousness of his steps surely would have enticed an attack, but the leopardess was stern, strong, and it was mostly likely her pressence that had kept them at bay. Of course, he would have never dared to get so close were she not with him in the first place.
"I guess, but I still like mice better."
The moment he sensed Karama's quickened pace, the small leopard too broke into a trot, light paws covering the ground quickly as he made his way back toward the jungle, back to home, leaving the wildebeast and other strange creatures behind. The weren't far now, and his senses were soon met with the inviting scent of green and the gentle rustling of the jungle leaves.

"I don't eat mice much. "
She said with a grin, finding herself releived as the gazes shifted off, tail flicking contently as the forest started coming into view. She didn't really quicken her pace to go, but she didn't doubt Keone would, it wasen't any bit hard to tell how he loved the forest.
Her gaze flicked upwards, now it was almost entirely dark, and a ssingle, brave star was peeking through the night sheet, it woulden't be long before there were many, many more.

"Well, what about fish?"
As they drew closer to the trees, Keone nearly broke into a run, paws welcoming the familuar ground of the jungle, the scent of the trees, once again surrounded by the sea of green.
But it wasn't just the return home that hastened his step. Though he had been lost and uncertain on the plains, he had been with Karama and somehow he felt more confident with her. He was certainly glad to be home, but she had shown him so much, he wanted to show her something.
He paused at the line of brush and sparse trees that seperated the plains from the jungle. When she had caught up, he smiled lightly and moved deeper into the jungle.
"Come on, the stars are almost out."

"Sometimes. "
She said in rsponse to the fish question, you coulden't really fish much in the savvanah, she only attempted it in the forest and jungle, they didn't really have crocodiles... Probably because praybeast didn't go in there too much.
She felt it was warmer in the forest now, night was coming and everything became cooler, but in here the head got trapped between trees, making it warmer than the open.
And darker.
the moonlight didn't slip in well here, and the forest got much darker than out in the savannah, and Karama blinked a few times to ajust to the light.
She followed after the male, pushing away leaves and bushes as she went.
"Ok. "

Keone didn't seem bothered or affected by the darkness of the jungle, indeed he made his way easily through the jungle, his paws steps sure as he weaved through the trees and brush. Of course this was his home, he was accustomed to the dark. Truth was he could have found his way even if he were blinded.
He steps were light and agile, only pausing to look over his shoulder every few moments, reassuring himself that the leopardess was still behind him. Karama didn't know the jungle like he did, he didn't want her to fall behind and get lost.
"Almost there."
Keone's strides took him to one tree in particular. It was an especially large tree, it's branches broad, spreading out over the jungle, disappearing above the great canopy. This must have been one of the oldest trees in the jungle, and on it's own it was a magnificent sight to behind. But the small leopard had other ideas.
"Come on, this way."
It was an easy climb for Keone, sharp talons gripping at the bark as his strides carried him upward. Reaching one of the lower branches, he paused and looked back toward Karama to make sure she was following.

Keone was right, Karama didn't know the forest very well, of course she came around very often, but she never went deep, and the result was there, while she knew the way out, if she got lost from the male, she had no idea were she'd find him.
When arriving at the tree, she didn't really stop to admire its size, and climbed after him with ease. She'd never really found it hard to climb tree's, that was probably why she managed to get safe when her two brothers coulden't. She never really knew what happened to them, and as far as she knew, they were dead untill she found them. Like it really mattered, though. Finding them or not, her life woulden't change much at all, at this rate.
She moved to the branch and next to him, tail swishing in the area under the branch. She didn't really say a word, though, was there really a need to?

Keone took a moment to flash a grin at Karama before he turned and continued his climb up the tree, taloned paws easily carrying him toward the heights of the tree. He climbed without effort, as if he had done this a hundred times before, paws landing exactly where they should with barely a thought.
He only paused a few times his upward trek, and then it was only to reassure himself that the leopardess was following. It was a long climb, one that carried them to the very ceiling of the jungle.
Upon reaching the highest branches, Keone stopped, pausing for a moment to peek out over the canopy to the starlight sky. Smiling to himself, he made his way along a thick branch that he was certain could support both their weights. Here he settled back on his haunches, waiting for the leopardess to join him.
By now the sun had set, leaving the pure night sky to glisten in its glory. It was a beautiful clear night, and the stars shone brightly, light small diamons on black velvet. Turning, he smiled brightly at the dark leopardess.
"See? Isn't it pretty?"

Karama climbed after Keone, though when she arrived on the branch next to him, her gaze was down; she'd never really gone this high, everything could look so small from up here..
She blinked out of the tiny daze at Keone's words; oh right. The stars, thats what they were up here for. Giving her head a slight shake, she lifted her gaze from the tree's to the stars. At first, they didn't really mean anything at all, just little white dots in the dark blue sky. Yet then they seemed to be bright, glimmering and making the night clearer.
Her tail swished to and fro once more as she stared at the stars, they were pretty, though she still didn't understand how Keone picked forms with them.
"Yeah.. "
She murmured, crouching on the branch.

Unlike Karama, Keone had climbed this high before and now he seemed as comfortable at this great height as he would have on the groud, perhaps even more so. His balance was sure, his posture relaxed, as if sitting on the branch was as easy as sitting on the earth far below.
His tail flicked light below the branch, eyes focused on the night sky, his green eyes glittering in the starlight. It was indeed beautiful, the sky seemed to go on forever and he wondered what the stars must thing when they looked down on the small world.
"See those stars there?"
He had leaned closer to Karma, one paw now raised to point at a paticular cluster with an extended talon. As he spoke he traced an imaginary line between the stars to form a picture.
"They look kinda like a big bird, see there's the wings, and the head, and it's tail."
