I'saak - Near Ingar's Stall
2 7/8 marks

And there was C'ross, striding over to the table, looking at...something, I'saak couldn't tell. And he was carrying - a stuffed firelizard? "Were you playing the ring toss?" he asked, quirking a smile. "I guess at least they didn't give you a necklace, right?" Easy speech, flowing with the general light-hearted atmosphere of the Gather even as he tightened his grip slightly on the knife in his pocket and hoped that it wasn't immediately visible to C'ross.

"Yeah," he answered his friend's question with a smile, glancing back over his shoulder at Ingar but not mentioning his acquisition of the dagger for the time-being. "It was nice to chat with a smith for a while, honestly. I kinda miss that part of living at the Hall. Not enough to give up Ellibreth, of course but...some of his stuff's really beautiful. Did you see the knives he has?" Abrupt, awkward change of subject flowing straight into a slightly-too-blunt question. It was as subtle as the young greenrider knew how to be, but he was fairly sure C'ross wouldn't expect him to have purchased a knife for him.

V'lay - T'ni's Stall
4 3/4 marks

The farmcrafter's enthusiasm was contagious, and V'lay found himself smiling warmly back at the woman as she explained the tree to him. "Beautiful," he said quietly, to himself as much as it was to T'ni, touching the pale trunk thoughtfully. It reminded him of the darker patches of Vinath's hide - and it was stunning in the Gather sunlight. "Absolutely beautiful. How much light does it need?" he asked, taking one of the leaves between his fingers and rubbing while he thought. It wasn't very large, and though the tray wasn't exactly sturdy, it wouldn't be a problem if he kept it to the side of Vinath's couch...or possibly on his desk, if it didn't need much sun.

But there was the other plant as well, the gorgeous bush with the yellow-orange flowers. "While we're at it," he said, gesturing in the direction of the fire flower plant, "would you mind giving me a run-down on this beauty, as well?"

C’ross – Smith’s Stall – 2 & 11/16 Marks

“I was! And yeah, at least I’m not walking around looking pretty,” C’ross laughed good-naturedly, holding out the black firelizard toy to get a proper look at it. It was kind of a funny-looking thing. The dye on the fabric wasn’t quite even, giving it an odd splotchy look, but he’d chosen it for the cheerful blue eyes. Then he tucked it back under his arm and offered I’saak the bag of candy. “I tried out the High Striker too, which was fun – do you want one of these?”

He cast one last bittersweet, wistful glance back over his shoulder at the smith’s stall – but better not to go back and hang about. He might just be tempted to buy one of the cheaper knives, and while the quality of a Mastersmith’s work would still make them a good weapon…

“I did see the knives, yeah. I lost my old one back at the Hold when the Wherholders attacked.” It had been a plain and serviceable weapon, nothing special, but still an important companion to a guard. No doubt it was either trampled into the mud where he’d never find it, or else it had been picked up by some thieving treacherous wherholder after he’d blacked out and dropped it. “But masterwork is expensive, even if it's high quality. I’m going to think about and come back later, I guess.”

I'saak - Wandering
2 7/8 marks

"I think it's cute," I'saak said with a smile, taking a piece of candy when C'ross offered and unwrapping it, then popping it into his mouth. "How come you didn't get a blue?" he asked around the caramel in his mouth. "None left, or just didn't see any you liked?"

C'ross's wistful gaze was not lost on I'saak. Nor was the way he spoke about the knives. So I'saak had made a good purchase. Wonderful. He swallowed the caramel. "Yeah," he said quietly, again touching the hilt under his tunic as he began to move out into the crowd, trusting C'ross to follow him. It didn't seem quite right to give him the knife right in front of Ingar, since the Smith had no idea he hadn't purchased it to keep for himself - and also because a gift that flashy might well draw attention. "There's still time. C'mon," he said cheerfully, reaching out to tug on his friend's sleeve. "I want to see what else there is, and maybe play the ring toss."

K'yne - High Striker
12 + 2 = 14

He heard I'saak and the Mastercrafter talking as if they were far to the side of him; K'yne always got a bit distracted by shiny items if he could afford to at that moment. The presence he'd been standing next to disappeared. It took a moment for him to look up, realizing that the quiet voice - and the knife it'd been talking about - disappeared somewhere into the crowd of the Gather. He blinked once, put the earring down, and glanced around for a tall head in a sea of many. Psaumith rumbled in the back of his head at his humans sudden flare of awkward at the large group and nowhere to really... go. The brown quieted quickly, peering out into the crowds through K'ynes dull eyes. Humans and their silly lack of vision.

I'm fine, he assured his dragon. I will... go hit something. That thing. K'yne abandoned the smiths stall completely, easily swallowed up in the bustle of the whole affair. The man at the High Striker spoke enthusiastically, saying words about 'boy or man', and earned himself a stare as enthusiastic as Thread when K'yne handed over his money. Sure, he didn't have height on his side but he had the build, the muscles - the inability to judge hammer-to-ground distance, apparently. K'yne swung, hit with a decent display of force, but nowhere near to being the best.

Ah well. Next time.

Tanya - Ring Toss
2 Marks

Mouth agape, Tanya looked between M'lan and the shopkeeper, then abruptly regained her voice. "Yes, yes, I would be all right with that." She looked at M'lan inquisitively, a confused half-smile on her face, then turned back to the prizes. Her 8 points had doubled to 16 and now the entire range of . Of course, she wanted to leave M'lan something, since he had earned them. There must be something he wanted. When he had joked about missing his chance at winning the firelizard egg (for her) she had been prepared to laugh along with him, but the sudden generosity had taken her aback. It wasn't uncommon for what she knew of M'lan, but that didn't mean she had expected him to give her all of his points up front. The implication that he wanted to buy her a "makeshift" firelizard also delighted her.

Of course, he had also given her his points so that she could afford one of the expensive firelizards that looked like they were made of leather. Tanya glanced between that shelf and the one below it, and then looked up almost apologetically at M'lan. She hoped he wouldn't be upset.

"Do you mind... if I get one of the dark brown linen ones instead? With green eyes? And maybe..." She glanced up at the parasols. "Maybe I can buy my second round and try to get enough points for one of those." She pointed at the pair of parasols still-- miraculously-- hanging on the walls, untouched. "How many points are they?"

C’ross – Wandering – 2 & 11/16 Marks

C’ross snagged a hard candy for himself, then tucked the rest of the bag of sweets into a belt-pouch. “Yeah, there’s plenty of time, and it looks like there’s still some merchants who are only just setting up shop. Like those folks over there.” He pointed to the weaver who’d just finished setting out goods and the apprentice farmer hawking flowers. Neither one was of tremendous interest to him; C’ross didn’t intend to waste a fun time at the Gather by going clothes-shopping. But if there were still vendors arriving, then there might be something exciting they hadn’t seen yet.

“You should try the ring toss,” he agreed, grinning when I’saak asked him about the firelizard toy and mentioned he wanted to play the games. “I didn’t get a blue because none of ‘em looked much like Nimith – all too bright. But there might be a green that could pass for Ellibreth.”

And then there was the matter of the other prize… Well. There was always the possibility that some enormous strongman would come by at the last minute and blow C’ross’ score right out of the water. But somehow C’ross didn’t think it was likely. And if he did win the egg… “Do you like firelizards? They’re giving away eggs as grand prizes.” Oh C’ross. Not only did I’saak’s casual comment about the knives go straight over his head, but his own hinting was as subtle as a boot to the head.

N'mol - PC Weavers' Stall

N'mol nodded his agreement to her hopes. With Idris returning to her own business, however, N'mol was free to return his attention to Kindra and their own buying. The Weaver was now occupied with a customer, and the interlude gave N'mol the opportunity to consult with Kindra. "Were you seriously considering purchasing the dress? This one looks lovely on you, by the way."

He wasn't going to stop her if she was interested, but she had purchased several new outfits since the last Gather, not even counting the dress she was currently wearing. If N'mol could see her purchasing something other than another new dress, he would count himself lucky. Not that she wouldn't find reasons to wear the dress on display, of course. If the dress was what would make her happy, N'mol would bite his tongue and use his own marks to get her something else from the stalls. Perhaps the Traders would have something fine to sell, or the Smith. He would have to take Kindra around there next. The games seemed to be popular as well, for something small.

Tuatha De

Kaylen tilted her head, "Indigo. Yes, I could do that. Solid would be quite easy and since I don't have a listing of it. I think 1/4 mark would be best. It might take some time but i'll have it delievered to you via that brat up there." She pointed to the resting green firelizard above her. She thought for a moment and smiled. "Would you like it to be embroidered? No charge, I can put the Dauntless name on it, or even your initial in the corner?" She offered, hoping to make the sale and of course to please.

Cai - Ring Toss
Marks: 3 1/2

Ok. Seeing each of her rings land on a target was pretty satisfying. "I didn't stick around to see who entered. I had other things to do." She'd been busy and outside of buying some much needed clothes in the company of Kleos, she hadn't done anything at the gather. They generally weren't her thing.

It was actually a bit of a shock to realize how much she had changed in the last turn. Much of it could only be attributed to Miath. Such as her acquaintanceship with Wen, and the fact that instead of being brow deep in her studies, she was here. Playing a game. Cai was playing a game. "You know I really should get those oil's ba--"

A wager? Why would he wager? Hadn't she proved that it was luck with her throw. If anything, his next turn was almost as bad as his first. "One more round." She fished another mark from her pocket.

Wen - Ring Toss
3 3/4
Current points - 6
New total = 12

"One more round then," he said, mild and looked over the rings. "I'm sure your oil's won't evaporate." He exchanged a mark for the rings and some change. He smiled brightly before tossing the three disks.

A bit better, certain enough to get what Rynsemth desired to impress Miath with. "Your toss 'Cai."

Dizzian- PC Weavers Stall
Marks: 6 (Rank + Pearls)

Was it really surprising that Dizzian's first stop was at her fellow Weavers? Where her skills ran along basic bandage making and her hobbies of crochet and knitting, the making of gorgeous clothing and embroidery was beyond her skill set. The young rider never hid her love of color and fabric and eagerly let her expression turn to one of delight upon seeing the combined vendors.

"Heeeeeeeee" She made a noise through her open grin as she discovered the baskets of ribbons. Her hair was just long enough to put a short little tail in the back. That was excuse enough for her to dig through the multi-colored lengths with glee, picking out a handful. Even if she couldn't wear them, she could use them in her own projects. Drawstrings for her little crocheted bags for instance.

"How much for... I think I've got 15 here..." She held out a bunch, counting their number quickly and smiling like a feline in the larder.

Cai - Ring Toss
Marks: 3 1/4
Points: 12

Cai's mouth pulled to the side and her brows pulled together. After the failure of her previous throw, Wen had caught up to her point score. Not that it really mattered, except that she was right in the game being nothing but luck.

She wouldn't hear the end of it if she lost though. Cai was sure. "It won't evaporate. She sealed them well, but I should get them out of the sun before the heat spoils them." She tossed another set of rings as she spoke.

I'saak - Ring Toss
2 5/8 marks - 10 points

"That's too bad," I'saak said, still frantically trying to decide at which point it would be a good idea to give C'ross the knife. He didn't want to do it too abruptly, but at the same time...what would it be like if he waited? He remembered C'ross's reaction to the hug in the infirmary...would he distress his friend again, trying to do something a little more than just kind? Faranth, there was of thinking going into this. Still moving through the crowd, he stopped in front of the ring toss, watching the way it operated. Three rings onto pegs. All right, he could do that.

A quarter-mark. Well, he had quite a bit of cash, still, so there wasn't any reason not to try. And then C'ross was asking him about firelizards. "Hm? Well...I think my father has one. Or borrowed one. We used it to write back and forth when I was still at the Hall. And you have Trill, right?" He had seen the little crimson now and again, pretty thing, if a bit stupid. "I suppose I've never thought about what I'd do with one. It might be nice to have one, though."

A brief smile, and then he turned back to toss rings at pegs.

C’ross – Ring Toss – 2 & 7/16 Marks

Hmm… ahh, what the shells. Spending another quarter-mark on the ring toss wouldn’t kill him. All he needed to do was make sure he saved at least one mark to buy himself one of the plainest daggers, and then he’d be fine. C’ross handed over his change, got another set of three rings, and gave them a gentle toss.

“Yeah, I have Trill – oh, Faranth, here we go, we got her attention now.” The little crimson popped out of between and promptly landed on I’saak’s head, crooning gently as she clambered on his hair. He had said her name! Trill didn’t know many things but she knew her name! That meant that he wanted her, and Trill was happy to oblige. Croooooooon.

C’ross moved forward, gently swatting at the crimson in an attempt to get her to leave I’saak’s head and stop being such a pest. “Hold on, I’ve got her.”

I'saak - Ring Toss
2 3/8 marks - 18 points

The sudden pop of something arriving from between and then promptly landing on his head made I'saak go very still, and he completely froze until C'ross explained what exactly had happened. "No, it's okay, if she wants to be there, I don't mind..." he began when C'ross swatted at the crimson. "I don't have anything for her, though, she's not going to bite me because I don't have treats or anything, is she?" He knew animals could be demanding like that - hopeful begging for food turning to malice in an eye-blink - and Trill had very sharp claws.

Moving slowly, so as not to disrupt the flit still currently seated on his head, he handed over another quarter-mark and tried another toss.
