Nikolai watched Kiyaka carefully. She was enduring so much for the sake of keeping him from breaking down. Why? This selflessness, it wasn't something he was used to. Picking up the remote for him was one thing, but to endure burning alive? Even Leon was like that, dying for the sake of protecting him and risking his position to get him out of Hell. The Sin glanced around as the room trembled and the lights flickered. Then, just like that, everything went quiet with a thick darkness covering them. How cliche. When the lights came back on, Nikolai breathed in sharply at the sight of Kiyaka collapsed on the ground. Before he could hurry to her side, he noticed quite a few presences filling the room, but the ones that piqued his interest the most were the ones that resembled Leon the most. This was undoubtedly his family, and although Nikolai was nervous, he couldn't help but wonder if he was older than even the parents. The Sin warily watched the woman of the group approach him. " I am." he nodded when she asked him a question. " I'm to assume you're his mother, hmm?" he asked as he set a hand on his cocked hip.

She nodded, smiling as she drew closer. "My name is Annie. Is Leon here?" she looked around, although she didn't see him. She wasn't stupid. If he wasn't there, then she was there for some other reason. Despite the disappointed look on her face, she drew closer to Nikolai, reaching out a hand. She almost touched his shoulder, then drew her hand back. "So you're the man that wants to marry my son?" she asked, not looking entirely sure of herself. "You're much thinner than I expected you to be. He's such a nurturer, I hope you'll forgive that I imagined he would be marrying someone he'd managed to fatten up." She laughed a little, shaking her head.

Nikolai dropped his gaze when Leon's name was brought up. He was about to speak when he noticed the woman moving towards him. He hesitated as the hand was stretched out, only to fall back at her side. Nikolai looked at her for a moment before smiling fondly at her. Now he could understand where Leon got his overfilling kindness. " I suppose that's why we make a good couple. He likes to take care of people and I like to sit around." he half-joked until his smile dropped back into a frown. " Unfortunately he's not here. He, er... He and I had a fight of sorts, you see..." He struggled to find the right way to explain this. How could he tell his love's family that he was caught cheating on him while still keeping up a good image? His looks could only get him so far.

"I see." She moved towards the couch, gesturing for him to join her. The other members of the family followed closely, Annie being the clear leader of them. She sat down, setting her hands on her lap and patting the cushion beside her. "Why don't you explain to me exactly what happened," she suggested. "I'm sure you wouldn't summon the Court family if there wasn't a misunderstanding involved." Her husband moved to sit beside her, setting a hand on top of hers. "He's very driven by his emotions, Nikolai," said the man. "If something happened, we're probably the best people to fix it." "Please, you're just making excuses for him being such a girl," snorted the young man with long hair, sitting on the arm of the couch and rolling his eyes. His father reached to smack his arm, then returned his attention to Nikolai. "I apologize for Jared. He's still really angry about being dead. You'd think ten years would cool him off." He shook his head, then gestured for Nikolai to tell them what had happened.

" I'm well aware of how long one's grudge can be." Nikolai assured as he sat down. After a long sigh, he began his tale of everything that led to this point. He talked about the woman that had chased after him for decades, how she threatened to kill both Leon and Aysun (which he shortly explained was their new granddaughter) unless he pretended to be her boyfriend, and the trick of having Leon discover them. " I suppose this is what I deserve for indulging her." Nikolai murmured, leaned forward in his seat and one hand running through his silver curls. " I don't want him to leave, but even if he were to come back he would have to endure me being with that wretched girl to keep him alive." His throat was dry. He needed some good old mind-numbing alcohol.

The Court Family
The family remained quiet until he finished, then Annie spoke. "Like David said, Leon is a very emotional being," she said, gesturing to her husband as she said his name. "When he falls in love, he falls in love. It takes great heartbreak to snap him out of it, like what happened with Maggie. This wound, it will heal if you patch it up quickly enough." "And if you keep him away from her," added David. "He'll murder her if he finds out she threatened his child. Leon is the type of person who would rather die than allow the ones he loves to suffer. It made the loss of us unbearable." Annie reached out, setting her hand on Nikolai's. "Nikolai, do you really, truly love him and want to be with him forever?" she asked.

Nikolai glanced downwards and stayed silent for a while. There had been many barriers he broke to show that he loved Leon. After this, there would be nothing left to defend himself. He'd be completely vulnerable, and he'd never be able to turn back. " Yes." he answered anyway as he looked into the woman's eyes. " I love him more than anything, and I'd gladly burn in Hell if it meant getting to be with him."

She turned to look at her family, whispering something to them before turning back to him and nodding firmly. "Then we'll help you get him back. But first, I believe there's something you need to ask David and I." They sat quietly, waiting for Nikolai to ask permission to marry Leon. This was probably the only time they'd ever be asked, so they wanted to make sure it was done right.

Mayah Playah I was talking about me in case you saw the post before I edited it. Also, how is this Ish avi? Nikolai nodded. He had never asked permission for marriage before. Sure he had gotten engaged to a few people before, but he always asked just them and would later leave them at the altar. If he dealt with parents he always got at least one on his side. Bedside, that is. And he wasn't in the mood for trying to seduce these two lovebirds. But it wasn't like he could ask the wrong way, right? " Mr. and Mrs. Court, will you let me marry your son?" he asked in a steady tone. He even lost his lazy drawl. Instead, what spoke was a voice that was nervous yet determined.

The Court Family
The two parents turned to look at each other as they were asked, smiling and nodding. It wasn't hard to decide on an answer. They looked back to Nikolai, standing. David reached out for Nikolai's shoulder, his wife taking his hand and gesturing for him to stand. "Yes, we will," said the man before wrapping his arm around Nikolai's shoulder in a quick hug. "Welcome to the family, son." He pulled away, replaced by his ecstatic wife who kissed his cheek and stepped back. Leon's younger brothers walked up to Nikolai, each standing on either side. The elder shrugged, looking away. "I guess I could put up with a brother-in-law," he grumped. "Provided that you don't hurt our big brother, Nikolai," warned the younger brother. "Jared and I hate it when we see him upset, even if Jared won't admit it." "Shut up, Levi," sneered Jared, although he did send Nikolai a warning look. "I hope we don't have to come back again because you've screwed up." Annie stepped in. "Now now, I won't have you bully your future brother-in-law. Right now, we have to decide on our next move. Now I love Leon, but he's more of a woman than I am. What kind of gesture were you thinking of making to prove your seriousness, Nikolai?" she asked, pushing away her sons. She didn't have time for their angst. Awesome nerd Ah. I have never seen anything more beautiful.

The Sin smiled lightly at the warm welcoming he received. It was strange, however, being around people like this, people he could regard as family. He never got close with his parents, he couldn't with the hard rule they were under at the time. Even now he couldn't remember their faces. Just faceless people that sat and ate popped into his memory whenever he tried to think of them. Maybe after all this he would try to find them. When asked about the next step of the plan, Nikolai glanced elsewhere to avoid looking at any of their faces. " I'm not sure, to be honest." he admitted. " I planned on having some kind of ceremony, although I doubt he'd be willing to be ambushed into a wedding right then and there." He motioned to Kiyaka's body. " She mentioned having some kind of promise ceremony. I suppose that would be like a wedding. As long as I made my words clear and you all would be around for him to see that our marriage is accepted."

The Court Family " That could work." She tapped her chin, then walked over to the window. " A promise ceremony without a big wedding would definitely work. Of course, you'd have to draw him aside and beg him to let you explain. If he accepts your explanation, he'll walk through the doors and see us all. If not, then-" Levi interrupted. " Then you've really messed him up. Leon can forgive anyone of anything." He gestured to his brother. " Even when Jared slept with Maggie, he forgave him. Of course, he didn't forgive Maggie." He snickered, only to get smacked upside the head by his father. Jared, who had been silent during this time, spoke up once again. " You could always give him Granddad's engagement ring," he suggested, gesturing to his father. " Don't you still wear it, Dad?" David looked down to his hand, a silver band glinting from below his wedding ring. He took off the first ring, then slipped off the older looking one. It was well-worn, well-made, and detailed. David had never once thought of giving it to Leon after what had happened with Margaret, but now seemed as good a time as ever. He approached Nikolai once more, holding out the ring. " Ask him to marry you, Nikolai," said David. " Tell him what trouble you went through to get us all together, how much you love him, and that no matter what happens with Miranda, you want to spend your life with him. This ring is an heirloom, he'll know what it means."

Nikolai looked at the mother as she spoke, feeling a lump form in his throat. He didn't want to think that there was a possibility Leon wouldn't even listen to him. He glanced at the brothers as they spoke, his eyes widening a fraction when he heard some interesting information. Those lime green eyes looked at Jared. Could it be...? Nikolai turned around soon to see the father holding out the ring. He gazed at it, uncertain of taking it. It was a beautifully designed ring that still held some masculinity to it. Weaved in that metallic design were countless memories, and the Sin could tell that whomever wore that ring would be protected by the strong love that created it. " ... You realize who I am, don't you?" he asked after a while and looked at each one of the Courts. " I'm Nikolai Byko, I'm the Sin of Sloth. My past is no more better than Maggie's. Don't any of you despise my very guts? Or at least doubt me?" This entire time they had spoken to him with unwavering eye contact and kind smiles. They treated him like he was nothing more than a man with cold feet! Were they aware of how many hearts he broke? Of just how badly everyone wanted him out of existence?

The parents looked between themselves, then shook their heads. Annie gestured for her husband to speak for them. "Nikolai, do you know what kind of woman Margaret was whenever she and Leon were set to marry?" he asked, holding the ring in his hand. "She was selfish, arrogant, lustful. I hate to speak ill of the dead, but she was promiscuous and a sl-t. She lied to our son, pretended to change for him, pretended not to seduce his brother on the sidelines. Every word that left her mouth was a lie, and Leon bought everything she sold. When her lies caught up to her, she was killed. It was, in a sense, karma." David then gestured tot eh Sin before him. "But you? You haven't lied to him about who you are and what you used to do. He's never been blind with you." He glanced to Annie, who continued his point. "You love him enough to keep fighting for him, to force yourself to be with this woman you hate just to keep him safe. We have no doubt that you love him, and that's all we need." She took the ring, then held it out for the Russian to take. "You truly want to be with him. We don't care about who you used to be, so long as you have changed for the better to deserve the man you love, like he's changed for you. Does that make sense?"

Mayah Playah I guess the next post is where Leon and Aysun would be. Got any ideas? Nikolai stared at the ring once again. Images of the kind hearted man with violet hair filled his head. The time they first met, when they told each other that they loved them, and all the other adventures in between. With this ring and the people holding it out to him he would win Leon back, no matter how long it'd take. " Thank you." he spoke softly as he took the ring into his hands. Powerful indeed. The love embedded in the metal was stinging his unholiness. It was a pain he didn't mind, however. Pulling out his phone with his other hand, Nikolai looked at the time. It was almost dinnertime. Where would Leon go at a time like this? No, that wasn't the question. Where would Aysun want to go at a time like this?
