"No chere. Not just for you. For her as well. A willing sacrifice. She came to me." He smiled gently as he stepped towards her, his eyes still sad.

"Why?"
She didn't back away as he stepped toward her, but she didn't look like she was about to welcome him into her arms, either.

"Because she had taken your place among the gods..." he said no more than this, but turned and began to walk away.

Dry heaves.
She would not wish that fate upon anyone...let alone her own daughter. The thought that someone else would have to...that it was her own fault Sejai had had to...she couldn't fight the nausea down.
"Don't go." she called to his mind, though the nausea kept her from talking, and the shock of revelation kept her from thinking much else.

He stopped but he did not turn around. "She did it willingly to keep them from making another to do it instead. She did a favor for Thanatos and he gave her partial mortality." His hands were clenched at his sides as he continued to speak.
"I gave her the only thing she ever asked of me."

"Rafe.."
I should go to him, she thought to herself. But she couldn't bring herself to move.
"Sorry."

He shrugged as if he couldn't care less. "There is nothing to be sorry for, I have done what I thought was best. I have to live with those consquences. " He turned and looked over his shoulder at her, giving her a wink, but it was only halfhearted.
"I should be sorry for dragging you into this again." He gave her a little wave. "Thank you for the memories." He could barely dare to look at her as he spoke, resigned to his fate. "Alright ladies..."
Silent as three women appeared beside him, dressed in mourning clothing, each clawing at him greedily as they grabbed at him, mists surrounding him before they disappeared, Rafe and all.

"RAFE!"
Full of fear, full of uncertainty. She could only watch as they took him away...running forward to try and help him somehow just as it was too late.
"Rafe..."
If her body had had any tears to spare, any lunch left to lose, it might have had a more violent reaction. As it was, only her mind, only her emotions could cry out. If Owle had thought she could somehow take the Furies, somehow change the outcome, she might have tracked him to the ends of the earth, through heaven or through hell. But the best way to do that...
Her hand went to her belly, resting there for a moment.
How will I know? How will I know when I can find you again?

The armored van rolled onto the temple grounds, the Chauffeur stepping out and opening the passenger door. He helped Sam Browning out of the car and said, "Need me to carry you?"

She stumbled out, shaking her head. "Thank you but no..." Only to almost fall flat on her face as she tried to leave. "...okay...maybe..." Letting him help her back to the temple.
"Can someone tell me what happened?"

Owle blinked, watching Charles help Sam Browning about. She had thought it was kind of weird when a minivan had just pulled up in front of her (and the Temple) but seeing who got out of it, she suddenly wasn't surprised.
"I'm as much in the dark as you are," she answered. It somehow seemed irrelevant that this woman had shot her once. "Though I'd like to know as well."
Flare, where are you, and what's going on? Rafe..the Furies took him.

She turned and looked at Owle, her eyes pitying her for some unknown reason. She blinked and her green eyes turned puzzled. "How did I know that..." She mumbled to herself before looking back at Owle.
She was wrapped up in a large overcoat and she curled up against the wall of the temple, paying more attention to the building then Owle. "So... odd..."

Owle sighed, and sat down next to Sam. The woman was no threat, now, and she seemed more a lost child than anything else.
Sejai.
Owle suddenly wished she hadn't thought the phrase 'lost child.' She'd fortunately gotten all the food out of her system, so there were no more bouts of vomiting at the thought, but...
Right. Traumatized woman in front of her. Pay no attention to the blood of the daughter you never knew you had.
"Miss Browning? Are you alright?"

She nodded slowly, "But you aren't....the Furies took Rafe...didn't they?" She shivered inside the coat. She was still naked, but at least she was covered for now.

"Yeah..." Owle said, her voice sounding pained. "They did."
She shifted uncomfortably, then finally noticed that Samantha didn't appear to be wearing anything under that coat. There seemed no tactful way to say it, but...
"Hey, um...do you want some clothes? I've always got some spares around...you're a bit slimmer than me, but I bet I've got something that would fit you."
