Penelope waved off the customer who had bought two cupcakes before nodding slightly in response to Aurora's statement. Yes... she had a very good idea of what activities to which she referred. Important work indeed!

Following the theme of baking things yourself, Liberty Marie had spent the morning in the kitchen, finishing off the last of the icing on her own cupcakes. She'd even indulged herself, and bought a few pastry tips to use with a simple piping bag she'd constructed herself.
Keeping a careful eye on the batch balanced in her arms, Liberty carefully made her way through the tables. There were cupcakes everywhere. A few tables were nearing empty, and Liberty a touch of shame at being unable to show earlier.
When she arrived at her designated table, the booth next to hers was empty, and a variety of terribly fancy, decorated cupcakes that should have belonged in a shop were right next door. Their designated supervisor was MIA.
Rather than make a big deal, or fret, Liberty simply slid the two tables together and began selling both displays of cupcakes. They complemented each other, and Liberty was sure the added variety would attract whatever attention had been lost during Avery's leave of absence.

Avery became suddenly disinterested in the cupcake she'd been eating, or the possibility of a dinner party, the moment her eyes caught on red-gold hair. Sitting up in her seat, the brunette leaned forward onto her elbows, propping her upper body on Lena's table to get a better view.
Libby.
She was manning two tables! Of course she was. Avery idly wondered where Liberty had gotten access to a second one when...
Her cheeks flushed.
That was her abandoned table full of cupcakes.
"Excuse me, Lena!"
Quick fingers adjusted the floral fabric of her dress as Avery made her way through the small crowd toward Liberty. Candidate - Avery Hollister Cupcakes sold - 20/50

Two tables safely together, Liberty had begun the process of sorting the ones she'd brought. Originally, she had intended to leave them mixed. However, seeing how well-put-together Avery's table was, the Reever had decided some reordering was required.
The cupcakes were sorted by color as well as either chocolate or vanilla, ones with filling, and ones without. Liberty hadn't gone overboard like Lena and created a huge array of flavors and types. With only 50 cupcakes, she wanted to stick to the basics--things she knew would sell.
She was about three quarters of the way through her sorting when she saw a flash of deep brown that made her heart momentarily skip a beat.
Oh, Liberty Marie. You are ridiculous.
"Hey, Avery." Liberty's friendly greeting was deep from her chest, not too excited, but clearly pleased to see the woman.

"Libby, you came!" Avery's face was still pleasantly flushed, though one could attribute that to the warm sun and excitement of the event. The brunette's gaze lingered on the redhead before she dragged her eyes away and toward the tables themselves. "Thank you. Your cupcakes look great!"
Should she hug her? She knew Liberty better than Lena, so why was that even a question? Avery felt like she was vibrating, despite standing still, and bounced slightly on her heels to get rid of the nervous energy.
When the redhead was closer, Avery took the step to close the distance between them, sliding an arm around Liberty's neck to give her a decisively warm hug. "We may have overshot the amount, though, since I'm turning out to be a terrible saleswoman."
Of cupcakes, anyway. She should probably have stuck with adult toys, but this wasn't exactly the venue to sell Vibes for Votes.

"Support your city council!" He called out. "Cupcakes for a good cause!"
He had gotten bored of handstands, and with a crowd approaching, thought that perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to say what they were selling for.
