And now it was time to dive back in, because that was what Shik did. He discerned from the way it was wobbling that the creature looked ready to get toppled. Soonish. Perhaps. It was hard to tell with its skin completely black and all.
(( Thrain only did 10 dmg (20 x2 (gm round) = 40/2 (warrior) = 20/2 (even roll) = 10), so my last post with 48 (6 x 2 (gm round) = 12x2 (spellcaster) = 24x2 (odd roll) = 48 got us at 91; Seussi's 4 dmg to 87, Blade's (5 x 2 (spellcaster) = 10 x2 (gm round) = 20/2 (even roll) = 10 => 77 HP left if I did this correctly. Really, though, could something this big just go down already? Shik was all for sport, but hitting the same damn thing over and over was getting annoying.

Shaheen hung back for a time, simply watching as Shik and Tseng darted in for yet more attacks. She was biding her time, waiting for the most opportune moment to strike. She was done with protecting Shik. The useless lump could take care of himself. She was tired of seeing everyone else take all of the glory, while she took all of the hits. When it seemed like the best time to do so, she flew in with another stab, but her blade just barely nicked against the shadow, and while it looked like it might fall, it still remained upright. It took everything she had left in her not to howl in fury. And then he took a breather because look, even killing machines needed breaks. Otherwise their arms would fall off. Or the blood would make them slippery.
Well this thing didn't have blood, but Shik counted that more as a disappointment than anything else.

Thankfully breaks never needed to be long for someone like this horseman. He loved killing things a little too much to sit back and catch his breath.

And down the giant went with a final slash of claws and metal.
Shik was proud to steal the moment from Shaheen because Lan was correct: he really could be a d**k sometimes. But he was a happy d**k who didn't make the most graceful of landings afterwards and whooped like a good War horseman after a fantastic hunt.

At last, with what seems like a small sigh, the oversized shadowling fades away, crumbling at the edges before it dissipates entirely, leaving something behind for the faintest of seconds - - Something glowing a soft red, something- - And then that was gone too. A moment. One breath. A second. Nothing so far, and then, the barest moment of relief. Through the masses of shadowlings, shadowlings that left behind chaos but no evidence of even existing themselves, they had survived and emerged of victorious. What can be defeated will only come back stronger-
-much, much later. OOC CONGRATULATIONS FOR DEFEATING THE SHADOWLING BOSS- All players can stay in the thread to interact with each other for the time being before ICly making their way away. Mmur raced into the fray, whip at the ready, only to see Shikoba of the War Clan fiercely murder their collective foe. He stared, unblinking, at the giant shadowling as it cracked and faded away. His whip disappeared.

Ying sighed happily as the beast went down, relief flooding her senses. Their home was safe. Sure there were a few straggling shadowlings, but nothing compared to that monstrosity they'd just felled.
She used her arrows to pinpoint a few of the remaining beasts, mostly weak or lame ones that hadn't already been taken out.
Turning to her friends, she said, "You were all so brave! I wish to one day be as brave as you, friends." She kicked at the dirt bashfully, desummoning her weapon and wiping her brow now that the threat was no longer iminent. "Does anyone need help? A bandage maybe? Torn clothing??" She wiggled happily in her stance. "Ohhh thank you all so much!!"
